Charles Le is really as good as it gets. He is crazy amazingly talented, and I would recommend him to any bride, couple, family, heck, the whole neighborhood! A true candid photographer: Charles told us that he really strives to capture candid moments more than posed, and we loved that. After a long search for our wedding photographer we have found Charles who shot our wedding on May 11, 2013 at Pebble Beach. Firstly, Charles was so friendly and accommodating to any request and time frame we picked. We planned our wedding from out of state, which was quite challenging (especially since we were so busy traveling and working). Charles made it so easy for us to though! 1. Charles photographed our wedding this weekend, and we couldn't be happier. Our wedding was on Saturday, and he quickly uploaded over 100 teaser pictures by Monday night. So what do I have to say about Charles? He's fun to talk to, easy going, and locks into stealth mode during your wedding. It wasn't easy to select a photographer until we found Charles' website. My husband and I worked on a $1500 budget and could not agree on a photographer as my husband has the most discerning taste for quality in, um, just about everything! I first ran into Charles' website through Google ads, you know, the ads that pop up above your Gmail messages that somehow are generally related to the contents of your email. I felt like Gmail was my magical fortune telling ball, Gmail knew I was seeking a great wedding photographer and led me right to him. Seeing that Charles was in the Bay Area, I checked it out. I fell in love with the style of his work and I saved the link to his website and showed my husband later. He liked his work and said it was the best one I showed him so far. I ran into Charles' website in a number of ways later (long story). We went forward with meeting Charles although out of our budget range, but we were so convinced that it will be our wedding and great photos were important to both of us to remember our wedding by. After seeing other photographer's portfolios in our previous budget range, Charles was worth it! His website displays his work well and because you can re-live other clients' weddings through the photos, you can see the outcome was consistent, you can trust Charles to capture this lifetime event. His gallery did not have just one or two "money shots" as my husband and I like to call it. You see his clients' photos and felt like you were there with them and I have to say his introductory slideshow he shows to new clients, brings me to tears because he captures that love and happiness so well in the couple and family/friends. After the wedding we had so many photos that were our favorites, really, with over 1000 perfect photos, selecting 300 photos from there to put in the album seemed nearly impossible. It's been over a year since our wedding in September 2006 and we still look at our wedding photos and seem to find photos we don't remember seeing because there were so many. No need to look any further, if you're already considering Charles, take my word, he's totally worth it. His rates are cheap for what you are getting: full wedding day coverage (normally you get up to 6 hours coverage elsewhere), High res DVD, website for your family & friends to view your photos & an easy option to purchase copies for themselves, super luxurious matted album with a number of high quality prints. In the search for a wedding photographer I e-mailed all the top rated photographers in my area from yelp about 8 of them (then another 4 more from other sites). I e-mailed them on Saturday morning, not really expecting anything back from most of them because they were probably doing weddings and probably generally busy. Well Charles replied really quickly along with a few other photographers. Like I said I wasn't really expecting such a quick reply but I did reply with how I was excited to hear he was free for our date, though his prices were a little over what we wanted to spend. Then the weekend came and went and I got most of my other replies on Monday or Tuesday from other people. Well I was swamped at work and school so I just gave really quick replies and was mentally noting that I would get back to them on the weekend. Then Charles e-mailed in the middle of the week, just the check up on me and said that if I had time he would like to meet me in person. No one else did that, so that was pretty impressive. I e-mailed him back thanking him but still didn't have time to schedule a meeting. Well we couldn't decide on a Photog but Charles was out of our price range so we couldn't go with him. My FI really wanted to have engagement pictures done by Charles even though we couldn't have him for our wedding, though we could afford Charles engagement pictures. I thought I would humor him. I contacted Charles about the situation because I wanted to be up front with him, that we would like engagement pictures but we probably couldn't hire him for our wedding. Just in case he didn't want to do our engagement pictures knowing he couldn't do our wedding. I just wanted to be straight forward. He was kind of enough to do our engagement pictures. We meet him on a Sunday to do them and he was really friendly in person and very personable. We did our engagement pictures in two locations (he picked them and they were great locations!). I brought some props with me that he never seen before but made them work. That was great. He had the pictures back to us on the following Wednesday. Talk about quick! They were great pictures to boot. It makes me a little sad we can't afford him for our wedding (which I think was my FI's orginal plan to sucker me into wanting him but still we can't afford him). People we have shown them too are always impressed by them. I just got some prints of my pictures this weekend and I'm very happy with them. If we had a bigger budget I would totally go with Charles. At first, while watching this particular photographer, I thought he was doing an amazing job and being very creative. But when I got a look at the finished product, I had a brand new appreciation for Charles. This other photographer was a very nice guy, and even though I thought he was taking amazing photos, his finished product did not reflect that. They were boring. Amazing photographer! Our wedding photos came out stunning. Charles' ability to capture the true essence of myself, my husband, our families, and our friends was amazing. His pre-wedding preparation photos really showed the feeling at both my house and my husband's house as we were getting ready. The ceremony photos were stunning, and the formal portraits my mom insisted on came out great. Charles managed to capture some stunning outdoor footage of just myself and my husband right after the ceremony - the photos really show the two of us wrapped in each other and glowing in our newly wedded bliss. His reception pictures show the party and the bride and groom enjoying their time with family and friends. I cannot express how pleased we are with our photos and customer services provided by Charles. His presence at our wedding events was not intrusive in any way, and he managed to capture photos of us that we could not be happier with. Post-wedding day service was top notch as well, he even showed us how to assemble our professional photo album (that was included in our package) so that we could choose our photos, and order of them in the album, ourselves. We received all 2,000+ of our photos on data DVD in high-resolution as well (we have them cycling on a digital frame we received as a wedding present) and have gotten so many compliments on them. I chose Charles as our photographer because his photographs showed his true art background experience, candid shots really portrayed the feeling of the day (instead of having "stiff" formal shots as the primary focus), his rates included having him present and taking photos for the ENTIRE day at multiple locations (there were no extra fees for "extra" hours or "extra" locations, etc like some studios were quoting me for), and a data disk of ALL the photos taken in high resolution was included in all of his photography packages. Absolutely the best! From the moment that we met with Charles, we knew that he was The One- the right photographer for our wedding! When you meet with him, Charles immediately wants to learn about you, your wedding, what YOU want for your big day, so that he can give you what you want- and then some. We interviewed one other photographer before Charles, which had seemed to go okay... until we met Charles. The other guy just talked at us and lectured us about what he can do/what he wants for our wedding. Charles, on the other hand, makes a point to get to know you, and I truly believe that shines through in our beautiful pictures. Charles wasn't "just a photographer," he was an integral part of the wedding day. Now, it's worth noting that my husband usually hates having his picture taken. However, Charles is so gifted at combining portraits, posed shots and candid/photo-journalist moments that my husband had a great time with Charles! For the posed shots, he gives you directives that can make anyone (even the non-photogenic) look like a model. Getting your pictures taken by Charles is not a stressful event- it's fun and sometimes while he's working his magic, you don't even notice you're in the spotlight. You just feel the moment- and he captures it! The final product is amazing- the packages, the products. You more than get your dollar's worth- it's really priceless what Charles can do for you on your special day. Working with him is very easy, Charles is so responsive- he posted a slideshow of 36 pictures the night of our wedding! Whenever you call him, both before and after the event, he is right there. All my friends and family who are now peeking through our pictures and buying some up have said the same thing. As a last note, I have to mention that I was thrilled to find that my first impression of Charles and his work was absolutely accurate- which is really telling since I had the highest of expectations. What first impressed me was that I had found Charles through an un-solicited referral from a coworker. In fact, from the moment I announced that I had become engaged, he [my coworker] immediately told me that we *had* to have Charles as our photographer. I guess after reading these A++ ratings, I was super excited to book Charles to shoot my daughter's birthday party. He was available on the day we needed him and he showed up on time. He was friendly on the phone and the booking process was easy as he called back and we discussed pricing for 4 hours of shoot. I am accustomed to getting my photos mailed to me on a CD so when he asked me to mail him a USB stick it caught me off guard. So, why didn't he just ask for it the day he was there? Minor issue. Well, I finally did receive the photos through online file transfer. I have to admit I was disappointed. I've worked with many photographers in the past to shoot our family and this is by far my least favorite one. It's hard to capture kids moving but at the same time, there aren't many good photos and the worst part is the lighting. I hired him because of the reviews and his wedding portfolios are great but for some reason in 4 hours, he managed to get about a handful of decent photos. I would not recommend him to shoot birthday parties. His skills are better left with weddings I guess. I highly regret working with him. read more

Maybe Charles was having a bad day, but the day he did our wedding, he seemed a little bit disconnected from everything going on. He made a few rude comments and many people came up to tell me he was disrespectful & demanding. He refused to listen to his clients and was angry that others were taking pictures as well (and verbally expressing it). We all felt that he was offensive, even the kids said he was "mean." We just had our wedding last Saturday and I thought I would write this review while waiting at the airport. Charles is very easy to talk to and he has already sent us some sample photos from our wedding. He captured some really unique moments and I am so happy that we chose to work with him. :) I appreciate how direct he was with his vision and how he blended into the wedding while taking all the photos. Charles shot our engagement pictures in Nov. 2012 and it was a hit! Charles captured all the shots we requested, plus roamed the streets of SF with us and found inspiration in little things - a balcony, a flock of birds, a patch of bright orange flowers , etc. His incredible talent is obvious in how he sees beautiful photo opportunities in everything. He was so easy to get along with, and immediately put my fiancé and I at ease with his easygoing nature. He also truly cares about his craft - we had a half day session but it went hours over as we roamed the neighborhood together, seeking out those perfect moments to capture on film. We had the pleasure of having Charles as our photographer for our wedding. Our pictures turned out beautiful! He really knows how to catch the right moments and have very artistic eyes for the right pictures under the right scenes. He is very friendly and knows how to make everyone comfortable and get in the mood for awesome pictures! We received so many pictures, way more than other photographers would have gave, and they're all really great pictures. He hardly do much post processing on the pictures and do not pick/choose only a few but gives you all his shots. They're all really beautiful, he takes pictures as it is. Charles is amazing. He shot my wedding last August and I've been meaning to do a review ever since. When I was looking for a photographer I knew that making sure my husband and myself both got along well with the person was important. I also knew that the photos were a top priority for us, there are many little details that will be forgotten over the years but the photos last. I looked at a ton of different photographer websites and the minute I saw Charles I was drawn in, the pictures were awesome, candid, and everyone looked so comfortable. I set up a meeting and was so happy when we all got along, we booked right away. At our engagement shoot we were both nervous being in front of the camera and we worried they would look corny but within minutes Charles had us feeling at ease and laughing. The photos turned out great and made us even more excited to see what he could do at the wedding. When the wedding day came he was on time and ready to go. I love the amount of time he gives, he was able to be there to catch all the getting ready and all the way to the last dance, which was impressive because we had an extra long day (ceremony at 2:30, cocktails, dinner, and dancing till 10pm). He was able to quickly make the wedding party comfortable allowing to get some great silly shots of us getting ready, really catching everyones personality. The ceremony was great, he got wonderful photos and was never a distraction to us or our guests. The "posed" shots went pretty quickly, he didn't do any overdone or super corny posses (you know the ones you've seen in every wedding album with the really fake smiles because everyone is thinking what are we doing). Then to the party and those pics are awesome, he caught everything, I really do wonder how he does it because he got things I swear happened at the same time on separate sides of the room. I have since been in a friends wedding and while working with that photographer I found myself thinking over and over how thankful I was I found Charles. I love my wedding pictures, every time I look at them it makes me smile. It was such a perfect day and Charles was able to truly catch it all. read more
