Then, once I was ready to meet dogs, they told me to sign up for their Saturday adoption days online. You only get 30 minutes to choose what dog you like from just their photos or else you have to wait until the next two weeks to look again. They don't even update the website with the dogs they have available - all of which are pitbull mixes. When I asked about several dogs that had been on the website for a long time, they said he would need a backyard. As a single apartment tenant in Boston who has had 10+ years owning a dog actively walking him every day, I think this was ridiculous as so many people have dogs in Boston and take better care of them than some folks I know from my hometown. Isn't it better for a dog to go to a nice home for the rest of its life than have it be sheltered or move from foster to foster home? Why did you approve me then?

Moreover, the employee working at the front or the intake area was extremely unprofessional with her assumptions that I should have known the protocol & procedures in donating. Clearly, I did not as I was following the incorrect instructions provided to me over the phone. Nor be told in a condescending manner to "walk down the street to Goodwill or Salvation Army"...I walk myself back to the parking lot & along the street blessing individuals who were in need as I waited for my Uber. I applaud the charge of any shelter nurturing the betterment of others, expressly as a former shelter occupier & volunteer. Nevertheless, all employees/volunteers should know the basic processes when representing a temporary housing environment, specifically if there are non-wavering guidelines to adhere to. After viewing Rosie's Place website, I unreservedly celebrate the overall mission on behalf of transitional individuals.

CARMAH or Cat Rescue of Marlborough and Hudson is a rescue organisation which does a fantastic job of adopting out cats. Even during this hectic period of Covid when applications are flooding shelters and rescues, they do a thorough job of reviewing all applications and respond quickly to all inquiries. CARMAH has no bricks and mortar base and so relies on many volunteers and staff to take in unwanted/stray cats and place them in foster homes where they are lovingly kept until forever homes are found. I dealt with Liz, who is the adoption coordinator. She was unbelievably helpful. After everything on my application checked out, and they certainly do contact all your references, she arranged a great virtual visit with my kitty's foster mum. Jennifer was so open and kind and was available for emails and texts. Picking up my new fur baby was done very safely with all safety precautions due to Covid. I could not have been happier on my drive home with my new kitty. She is exactly as she was described. I have seen instances with other shelters where the cat has not matched its description. Since my new kitty has been home, I have maintained the relationship with kitty's foster mum, who has been so gracious and helpful. I also had dealings with Melissa and Brittany, also with CARMAH. Again they could not have been more helpful. So from new kitty and me 10 out of 10 "mewows" for a purr-fact experience.

Searching was incredibly stressful, however we…read morechose Adoption Resources for the following reasons: 1) their fee structure was variable based on if your placement came from them versus if you found a placement from an out of state agency (this felt more fair to us than other agencies that change a high fee even though you may need to select out of state agencies and pay them fees as well), 2) they had adoption work shops while you are going through the process and offered post-placement groups and support, 3) everyone seemed very kind and knowledgeable. We are happy to say we definitely chose the right agency! Everyone is an absolute pleasure to work with and has supported us along the way. They helped place us with our daughter who is more than we ever expected or could have hoped for. We cannot thank them enough, and for anyone on the fence - go to one of their free monthly info-sessions. It really helps give you an overview of the process, but more importantly will give you a feeling for the amazing agency and people who work there.

Their staff are experienced, imminently qualified, passionate about adoption, and thorough and attentive during all phases and facets of a logistically complex process. They regularly host seminars with guest speakers to provide information to prospective parents about various options and decisions that must be weighed, interpreting medical records, and understanding the experiences of birth mothers. They provide coaching on building a compelling prospective parent profile and even on newborn baby basics. This level of support extends beyond education to a more personal level, where we have found each and every staff member to be unfailingly compassionate, supportive, and patient, even during the most challenging of times. Post placement, they continue their engagement by hosting new parents groups - an opportunity to share experiences, challenges, and build a community of adoptive families. After working with many different agencies and firms of varying sizes and approaches, I can say that our experiences with Adoption Resources stands out above all in terms of their support throughout the entire process.

I've used them several times for donations (they come & pick up unused furniture, etc). A volunteer upstairs allowed me to elevate legs and a young woman Deseree attempted to pull chair out from underneath me when I said I need a minute as I had bilateral knee replacements as well. No common sense. She said if you have a bag (lol) put.your feet on that. Moments like that diminish the good that is accomplished here.

His delivery fee alone makes "what a deal!" less of a steal. I really miss the Habitat for Humanity Restore that used to be in Peabody. Everyone who worked there was a gem.
