I went on the brews cruise for a girls day out and had a great time! The owner/driver is very down-to-earth and definitely patient from some of the stories he told! To start you meet at the bus shed across from the visitors center. Just look for the bus that says "brews cruise" on the side. Depending on the size of your group plan on sharing the bus with other people, but meeting new people is half the fun! You then go to three different pre-determined breweries and get 5 ~6-8 oz pours at each brewery. You don't get to pick which beers you try as you are brought a pitcher for your pours but If you really dislike a certain beer you can request a different, previous one. Once you are done at your three breweries you are then dropped off back at the visitor center and you can then go home or continue partying around downtown! On the bus you are also provided water bottles and snacks like cheez-its and goldfish. This is a great way to spend a day with friends and try out some local breweries! read more

Absolutely, positively amazing. We decided to book the Charleston Brews Cruise for 'something to do' on a Saturday afternoon during my bachelorette weekend trip to Charleston. It honestly was one of my favorite parts of the whole weekend. Brent was knowledgable on all of the beers, brewery facts and Charleston as a whole. He was the definition of hospitality and had connections with all the breweries, so no wait times! Purchased a gc for my boyfriend as he is a beer enthusiast, and we finally decided to use it. It was the day after thanksgiving, and we were surprised the business was open, but soooo glad that it was. We met at Southend, which to be honest, has never been a favorite food place of mine, so I have never tried the beer there until now. Brent was fabulous, he explained the brewery process as well as the local and state laws here in SC. It was quite an eye opener. We now know why so many great breweries are popping up everywhere!!! From Southends generous tasting, we all hopped on the bus and went to Westbrook Brewery in Mt. Pleasant. WOW. He has connections there and we were allowed in before the place opened - talk about 'the treatment' wooohooo!!! The classiest brewery I have ever seen!! and again - Brent knew his stuff. I learned so much about why certain brews are called an IPA, or why some are heavier than others, and surprisingly enough, why cans are actually better than bottles. (what??!! what??!!) We got to walk around the brewery and see start to finish how things work there. the tasting were FANTABULOUS !!!! seriously. I found my new favorite beer there at Westbrook, if it hadn't been for Brents Brew Cruise taking us there and explaining the process, I KNOW I would have never tried it. Third and final stop - Holy City. By this time, everyone has started talking to everyone on the bus from brewery to brewery. Making new friends, and eating the generous helping of goldfish (LOVE THEM!!!) that Brent gives you as a snack. Holy City rocked, it was a Friday so they had a live band, and while we stayed in our normal 3-4 flights of beers for tasting, we were allowed to ask for something different, and Brent made sure to get close to what we preferred - and suggested some different ones to try. The whole touring was from about 145 -6ish? it was a few hours, but honestly; Its worth the $$ and the time. I cant think of a better way to spend an afternoon. We made some new friends on the cruise, hung out with them for a few more hours that night and kept in touch with. Brent is AWESOME. so knowledgeable about all that is breweries. We walked away feeling like we had a great history lesson, learned way more than ever on the different brews, and tasted some awesome new beers. Brent does tour many different breweries than the ones I mentioned we went to, our new years resolution is to try them all at some point this year - via the Brews Cruise of course!!! read more

My two friends and I booked this tour on a whim and were very happy we did so! They have a DD option that is good for those who do not want to drink but can still have the experience of learning about the breweries. While we are not the biggest craft beer drinkers, Brett tried to give us beers based on our palates. The samples are generous, and if you don't like it, you have the option of dumping it. It was very cool to learn the history of brewing in Charleston while taking in the scenery of the breweries. Is this the best way to actually see Charleston? No. The breweries are out of the main drag, so don't expect this to be full of sightseeing. It is purely, and unapologetically, about the beer. read more

The tour lasted most of the afternoon, and we got to see 3 different breweries and try several different pours. A couple of the places were a bit crowded since it was a Saturday afternoon, but since we were on the brews cruise, Brent had special connections, and we didn't have to wait at all! He also hooked us up with snacks and waters for the ride in between the breweries. However the one thing that stood out the most to me is one of the girls on our trip accidentally left some pint glasses that she purchased in the van, and Brent called me a couple days later to get a mailing address so he could ship them back to us. I recently visited Charleston for a week long vacation with my boyfriend and his family, and a friend recommended the Brews Cruise. I wasn't really sure what to expect, but I knew it involved lots of beer - so it was clearly a no-brainer. We began our day with Brent, our tour guide and beer aficionado. From the moment we got into the Brews Cruise mobile, I knew we were set up for a successful day. Not only did Brent know everything there is to know about beer, he also knew how to make us laugh and hold an engaging conversation. Super easy-going and funny, he was the perfect person to take us through sip after sip of newfound beer flavors. What's more, we made the mistake of not eating beforehand, and we all know this equation: no eating + lots of beer = (something bad). Brent was courteous enough to bring us crackers to fill us up and THEN stopped at a Chick-fil-a mid route. Mostly because it was the nice thing to do, partly because he didn't want to carry anyone home. He also shared a hidden prop with us - a sweatband mullet. Yes, a sweatband with a mullet attached to the back of it that we all took turns wearing - because sweatband mullets are awesome. All in all a great experience. Did the 3 brewery tour on a Tuesday. Started at Westbrook Brewery. The brewery was actually closed but had an arrangement with the tour that allowed us to enter and take a nice little tour. We probably had 6 separate tastings of beer. All were very good and we got a behind the scenes tour of the actual brewery. Very much enjoyed it. Then we went to Holy City brewery. Really cool little place with excellent beers! Virtually every beer we had was great. Really cool atmosphere too. While I did not eat, those that I was with raved about the food. Finally, we went to Revelry Brewery. Had a really nice roof top bar but unfortunately it started raining so we went down below. It was a little crowded down below but still very nice. Cool atmosphere and good vibe. Solid beers too. Overall a great day and a great experience. Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend! read more

An awesome tour. Brent is very friendly and easy going. He has many funny and cool stories. He gives a brief background of the beers and breweries. I would definitely recommend this tour if your into beer and want to taste some great beers directly from the source. Like a lot of microbreweries, some of these places are hard to find unless your familiar with the area. This is a safe and convenient method to visit 3 local microbreweries. Pickup is in downtown Charleston so it is within easy walking distance of the many downtown hotels. You get to interact with some of the staff and have a little question and answer session about their beers or about beers in general. It is pretty laid back. It is not rushed so you have time to enjoy the beers, make a purchase, and mingle with your tour group. A definitely must do. I would probably take the tour again next time I am visiting to visit some other microbrewery and to try some local seasonal beers. read more
