$36 flat rate from Waikiki to HNL was awesome. They were prompt and flexible with changing the time to match our updated flight time. We also used them to go to the children's discovery center and back - would use them again. They were flexible and kind to the kids and reasonably priced. Uber/Lyft maybe a bit cheaper for local rides but we used Charley's bc they were always on time and dependable! And you don't need car seats for the kids bc it's a commercial vehicle - even if Uber/lyft drivers don't enforce that, I prefer Charley's for peace of mind since the drivers do this professionally. Would highly recommend to everyone, including those with families and who like to plan ahead with a dependable ride waiting for you! read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. They just denied an elderly veteran a ride from NEX to Airport Hotel because he doesn't own a cell phone. The dispatcher actually hung up on me and I had to call back. He seemed very disheartened that they refused service even after the fact I told them he's an elderly veteran. These guys are awesome! Busy Friday night in Waikiki after we pau attending a concert. Easy to request taxi online. Immediate response and cab number. It won't change up drivers/cars like Uber does, and their fares are very comparable to Uber if not the same. Especially the airport run which is a flat rate. Lucky if you get Mark or Vin, super cool fun guys who get you there safely with no nonsense driving and enjoy talking with you if you like that type of ride. We dislike driving into Waikīkī due to all the changes so we cab it and Vin contacted us to find out our exact location of pick up since the address could have been several areas. He was there within 2-3 minutes, clean cab, pristine interior with no cigarette smells. and very friendly. The pickup location was unclear. Once we located the vehicle (after 15 min of shenanigans), the vehicle was not clean. Once I got in the vehicle I saw 4 beverage containers customers left behind. I asked the driver if he knew there were 4 drinks in the back. He said "Yes. They're empty." (Ummmm...) The 25 min drive to the hotel was harrowing as the driver pressed the gas pedal every 3 seconds instead of applying steady pressure to the pedal (a nightmare for anyone who may get car sick). Finally, I wear oxygen and the humidity was A LOT. I asked the driver to turn up the AC, he said "Yes, it's on." and DID NOT turn it up. Oxygen or no oxygen, if the customer asks for AC. We used Charley's Taxi after having a less than great experience with another transportation company that was highly rated on Yelp. Although this one wasn't rated as high on Yelp, it was recommended by the Marriott hotel in Ko Olina, so we figured that if they tell their customers to use them, it can't be that bad since it would also reflect badly for them. Anyway, we called them up and made an appointment to pick us up at the Marriott in Ko Olina at 6am since our flight at HNL was at 9am. Immediately after our phone call, we received a text confirmation with a reservation number confirmation, which is a nice touch since that was never provided by the other highly rated transportation company. On the day of our departure, they texted us confirmation asking if we still needed a ride and our taxi even came 30 minutes early. Fortunately, we were ready but I appreciate that they weren't late and were willing to wait for our scheduled pick-up. Anyway, the ride was much smoother than the other company and our driver was actually very pleasant. He took our credit card at the end of the trip and we paid the same amount if we went with the other companies. I think they do use a meter sometimes, but if you give them a start and end destination, they can quote you a price. Also, they do charge tax, so expect to pay a little more than what they quote. Overall, their service was great. When speaking to the driver, he mentioned that they have a fleet of over 100 taxis. I mention this since they seem more established, but also that your experience might vary by the driver you get. He also mentioned that some of the other transportation companies might not have insurance to protect the passengers if they got in an accident. I'm not sure if that's true, but it did put a little scare in us. Anyway, we were very happy with their service and if we ever need a taxi again, we'll be sure to make them our first choice. read more

Amazing! Just a great service to whisk you off to / from the Honolulu airport! Originally was planning on using Uber but the rate was $75 for an Uber XL (3 pax + 5 luggage). Charley's offers a flat rate of $29 plus tax ($31). After a 20% tip, the rate was half of Uber. Charley's is a commercial taxi company, complete with meter & licensing. I used Charley's Medicab yesterday for a short ride from Straub to my home. The driver did come to the Dr's office but did not offer to assist me, Instead he walked quite quickly, and remained ahead of me for the long walk to the elevator.I was recovering from anaesthesia.He did not assist me to enter the car nor at my destination. 09-21-24 This review has nothing to do with our driver. He (King) was great, we really enjoyed taking with him. He picked us up at HHV and took us to the Aloha Stadium swap meet AKA flea market. My issue is with the company Charley's Taxi and probably any taxi service in Honolulu. We traveled 10.7 miles, and my bill came to $62.54. These taxi companies pass on to you these surcharges / fees like Fuel, Airport, Tax, Air conditioner, and God knows whatever else. I learned my lesson and downloaded Lyft and started using them. Lyft to us somewhere very close and charged us less than $40.00 with tip. read more

WE love this company. There were many "taxis" trying to pick us up (and take advantage of us) but we called and booked with Charley's because we knew we could trust them. The drivers are prompt and courteous and the fares are fair- not something you can necessarily count on with other taxis. First time using Charley's taxi from our apartment to HNL airport and without a contact phone on our part. Charley's taxi was so helpful in reassuring us twice that the driver will be at our apartment on time. Flat rate $38USD plus tips which is very worthwhile. we told them that we will be downstairs by 7:20am so the driver can see us and sure enough, the driver came by 7:25am and spotted us. He was very helpful with all our bags and he drove a Toyota Sienna so all our bags can fit. We are extremely satisfied and impressed by Charley's Taxi reliability and service. Everyone working at Charley's is awesome! When we return in Jan 2026, we definitely will be using Charley's again and I think everyone visiting Honolulu should also use Charley's iso metered cab. We ordered the VIP airport to Waikiki service recently, prepaid. The pickup at the airport was excellent, no problem. However, the return trip was almost a disaster. Our pickup time was 8:30, I put it into my calendar when we set this up and then confirmed the time with the driver. So we walked to the pickup at 8:20 and the driver said he was trying to call us (we may have been in the elevator and didn't hear the call) because he had received a "cancel" pickup notice from dispatch (he showed us the screen), and was about to leave. (Thank goodness he didn't leave as instructed.) Again, our pickup wasn't for another 10 minutes. That would have been a disaster because could it have caused us to miss our flight. We tried to call Charlie's Taxi to ask why, but the line would answer and immediately hang up. Even though the driver was great and the airport pickup went smoothly, we will never use this service again because they tried to leave us stranded at our hotel. read more

Charley's provided a great service. So easy, reliable, and helpful. Luckily I found them on the website of our hotel. For certain hotels or locations around the island they provide a flat rate so you do not need to worry about how much you are paying. They also have a credit card machine in the back with the passengers, so convenient so you do not need to worry about having enough cash. It worked out way better than taking an Uber and much more reliable. We called them when we landed an got our luggage at the airport. The attendant on the phone told me exactly where to go and stayed on the phone with me until I got there. Then they arrived in a matter of minutes and took us directly to the hotel, no time wasted. Then I arrange the our trip back from the hotel to the airport. They send you reminder texts and our driver even arrived early. Both drivers were very friendly and so helpful. I noticed they had some flat rates to popular tourist attractions, next time we come here we will use their services and recommend them to any friends that travel here. Good service but very island style did not close windows it was hot but nice and efficient

First off, Charley's answered their phone. All the others were just a recording. The young lady that answered the phone was very polite and accommodating. Those two first impressions were crucial for me. Lee, our driver, text me to let me know he arrived early. That was a good feeling knowing you need to be at the airport on time. I appreciated Lee's friendly welcoming. He was efficient and was willing to conversation with us along with a sense of humor. The van was very clean. (Very important!) Due to bad communication and an overly cautious anesthesiologist, I found myself needing to utilize Charley's Taxi in late August 2022 instead of taking an Uber/Lyft as I had planned. In addition to regular taxi services, Charley's Taxi also offers Medicab for those going to or from doctor's visits, etc. or in my case those too stubborn to ask friends for a ride and needing to get from the hospital back home. My driver arrived sooner than expected and waited patiently for staff to walk me to the car. The driver was friendly, the vehicle was spotless and we had good conversation for my almost hour-long ride. Although I would NOT want to use Charley's Taxi for something like this in the future due to it being a metered ride versus flat rate like you get when using Uber/Lyft, I would not hesitate to recommend this service to anyone needing transport to or from doctor/hospital visits or those nervous about the lack of additional safety precautions used by ride share companies. Charley's Taxis are all equipped with cameras providing the driver and passengers with an additional layer of protection. Cash/Cards are accepted and there is a card reader in the passenger seat of the vehicle. I wanted to share that Mr Woo, a driver, for Charlie's Taxi went over and beyond to help my friend get his phone back. My friend dropped his phone in the taxi on the way to the airport. After my friend realized it, it was too late. Mr Woo reached out to the latest caller on the phone. Fast forward, when my friend came back he reached out the the company and after one try he was thought he wasnt going to get it back. He called again and Mr Woo called him back! I called this company, on behalf of a potential customer to them, and scheduled a cab for pick up. During the call, I informed the worker that this customer had no cell phone and no way to contact them. However, I provided my own contact information. I asked for the wait time, they said 25 minutes, and we scheduled the ride! After MORE than 25 minutes, we received a phone call stating that Charley's Taxi would NOT service this client as they did not have a cell phone. Why? Because they claim prior customers have not paid them and that they need a cell phone number to prevent this. How does a cell phone number prevent theft? I have no idea. After this debacle, I set up an Uber and had this woman picked up within 3 minutes. She was back home within less time than it takes Charley's Taxi to even pick someone up! It was $9. I can't even imagine the absurd price Charley's would've charged for their despicable service. I would HIGHLY recommend Uber over EVERY taxi service, especially Charley's Taxis. Perhaps if Charley's Taxi got out of the 19th century and into the 21st century, they'd had FAR more options for payment, and they wouldn't have to turn away potential profits. I would also suggest requiring a deposit to be made or for payment to be taken PRIOR to the service being rendered. Uber does that. Lyft does that. Why can't your company? If you did this, your company would not have to discriminate against those who do not have cell phones. Or maybe discrimination is just what Charley's Taxi stands for! read more

I wasn't sure how I would get to Aulani from Honolulu airport but the Aulani group I was in recommended Charley's so I visited their website and it was very easy to make a booking with a few clicks. They email you instructions on how to hail the cab once you have landed. The rate is a flat charge from the airport to the hotel, so you know what you are paying and don't have to worry about Ubers being available or price gouging if it is a certain time of day. I was able to use a credit card upon arrival to the hotel and in the return. My return trip from Aulani to the airport was just as easy. Our driver was waiting for us 15 minutes early right outside the valet stand at the hotel so it was easy to find him. In addition to email confirmations they also texted right before the ride. Overall, easy to use and no worries. I would use them again. Both times we were picked up in Van's that could carry one luggage and one personal item. We had 3 in our party and I believe they can do up to 4 for the flat rate cost. read more

I've used Charley's taxi several times. They've been on time and professional with me. The cabs that I've run have been pretty clean. I get now both a text message and I'm able to speak to Dispatcher on the updates. The prices from Waikiki to the airport are set so that's a big thing for me especially they allow up to 2 to 4 passengers With baggage. Unfortunately, you can't avoid the tax. read more
