My husband and I have used CHARLEY'S TAXI a few times in the past (as needed), whenever we regularly traveled to and from the island of O'ahu between mainland routes, as well as once during a family visit when we took a tour and had lunch together with my kupuna mother. Each time we requested their taxi service, the professional drivers arrived early or right on time and easily demonstrated their local 'Aloha' friendliness, warmth, and kindness. They were genuine about their desire to assist us with our whole taxi ride experience--from pick-up to drop-off. By the way, choosing CHARLEY'S TAXI is also nostalgic for me personally because my late Uncle was a veteran CHARLEY'S TAXI driver for many years, and he was also very welcoming and kind to everyone. As I recall several of our past experiences, CHARLEY'S TAXI rides were often quick, safe, and enjoyable. And the low and flat rates were very much appreciated (in comparison to that of other local taxi services). Also, it was very much appreciated that the dispatcher would always call us just before the driver was scheduled to arrive, just to let us know they would pick us up in a few minutes or so. While other locals may be using Uber or other types of local taxi services, we highly recommend CHARLEY'S TAXI as a solid classic with its consistent and traditional local-style 'ALOHA' service. They are wonderful. IMHO, yes, the taxi industry needed to be disrupted. Badly. And now they are w Lyft and Uber. However now I feel almost the opposite is happening in that the monopoly falls in ride share. Nothing wrong with that. I do find taxis are much more reasonable and appreciative. Thus Charley's. I am sure that there are a lot nice people works at Charley's. But the operator who answered the phone who had responded our request over the phone kept hanging up the phone and keep missunderstanding "off base pick up site (Visitor/Pass Office) across the Nimitz gate" as on base, and keep saying "we can not go on base", even we keep saying "It is off base" and keep hanging up the phone calls. My cell shows that we called 7:34, 35, 36,49,51, and my husband missed the plane and had to buy a new ticket. Manager and owner of the Charley's taxi and The Cab, please make sure that the phone operator speaks perfect English, and is not neglecting to respond the small client like us from in front of Pearl Harbor Nimitz gate pick up to HNL airport! Lily at The Cab was extremely nice and she was lifesaver! Please get the operator more like her please! The lady answered after her said that she did not send the taxi, they are still look someone to pick up. The gate check in counter closed at 8:55 on 9/9/2022. I just wanted to say "Thank you" to those 4 taxi drivers who picked me up from and dropped me off to the airport.... I had a trip to Kaua'i for 2 weeks and it was cheaper to catch a cab then to leave my vehicle at the airport. I called Charley's taxi to make a reservation for pick up and dropped off and both taxi drivers were awesome.. both gave me a local discount and of course I gave both of them tips. This week I had to call the cab again due to car trouble and The one who dropped me off at the airport and the driver who dropped me to dealership was awesome! I'll be calling Charley's taxi next time I need a cab. They really take care of the locals. read more

Yes, they were always on time and the cars were clean and they were easy to get a hold of, as well. Got some helpful insight from a driver as to where to find a Charley's taxi when leaving Pearl Harbor. And they seem reasonably priced for the airport shuttle to and from our hotel. I think it was a $35.00 flat rate. If I'm ever in Waikiki again, I would use them. Not sure if they are a national chain. read more

Someone on the beach actually recommended them to us so we booked them because we needed a ride from our hotel to the airport. We needed 2 vans & each was a flat rate of about $30. Cheaper than an Uber. Also they were very prompt & ready on our pickup time. Van was also very clean. Driver was super nice too! Will book them again. We waited an hour for the taxi to pick us up form the Airport. I reserved it ahead of time sinked it with out in coming flight. Called several times after our reservation time and saw it come and go for outer people still sit there on the curb waiting. Don't believe any of the good reviews. That must have been how they use to be but not anymore. I did find Hawaii 23 after I got to our Hotel the Hale Koa. They were much better and polite go with them. read more

Staff very personable. Always arrive early and check in. They wait patiently and love when you are ready. They were recommended by our Hilton Timeshare. They know the city extremely well. They are very busy around 4-7pm so prearrange transportation if you can. Caution. Took 3 Charley's Taxi trips while staying at the HHV. I mostly use Uber but once I saw that Charley's doesn't require children seats to ride, I immediately booked us a trip to the zoo and to downtown. We had their VIP service from airport to Waikiki hotel. The total fare is 135 plus 15% tip. The only star is for the nice customer service lady, Christine, over the phone. She is professional and nice. The VIP experience is 0 star. Due to Covid, windows have to be down as it's company policy. And it was noise, hot and super uncomfortable the entire drive from airport to our hotel. Big sign in the car showing you have to wear mask. So hot summer day in Hawaii, crowded freeway with so many cars...have to wear mask and windows have to be open ( I saw none of the taxis on the road have their windows down). We did the Covid tests to come here, wearing mask and is this really necessary to have windows down? I had such a bad headache when we arrived the hotel. VIP experience is definitely not a VIP experience. Totally not worth of the money. She mentioned this was stated on their website but I got their number from a local tour guy and I didn't even look their website. Charleys taxi is saved in my phone. We spent a lot of time to and from Hawaii. Flying into Honolulu Charley's will always be how we move around. They are always always right on time, their vehicles are clean, the drivers are professional and we always feel safe. I ended up being in a Hawaii on Christmas Day needing a ride to the wipeout and guess who was opened and willing to take me straight to the airport? Charley's. My family and friends (we lived in the Marshall Islands for almost 3 years so we travelled back and forth to Hono 4 5 times a year) all used Charley's. I can't say enough about them. read more

This company was booked through Pleasant Holidays Travel. We paid and had a voucher. When picked up at the airport in Honolulu the driver argued with us about where we were staying and wanted to drop us at a different hotel because that's what he was told. Even though we showed him our hotel confirmation. Then when leaving we called the day ahead to schedule our pickup. He is currently 30 minutes late. We were in Waikiki on vacation last week and used Charley's Taxi once during the week without issue. With our positive experience, we decided to use Charley's for a ride to the airport for our trip home. We booked the Taxi on Thursday (2 days in advance) for our Saturday flight. I booked online and received a confirmation text. I also received a text about an hour before our pickup to confirm which I replied "Y" to confirm. When the taxi did NOT show up on time, we waited a little longer then called. When I called, they said they were very busy and it would be another 15 or 20 minutes. So I had to cancel and fortunately was able to get an Uber without any issues and in a timely reliable fashion. For a ride to the airport, I needed timely reliable transportation. We prearranged an airport pickup in Honolulu. The driver was at the airport on time, he loaded all our luggage, gave us information as he drove us to our hotel in Waikiki, then unloaded all our luggage and took it inside the hotel. Will keep calling Dave every time I return to Oahu. Don't rent a car! Not worth it to pay $60/night hotel parking. Dave can drive you anywhere. So happy I found them. Horriable and terrifying! I wished I could give them 0 or even negative reviews! We reserved a ride of 6 ppl for my family from wakiki Laylow to airport , came 2 cars (one mini van and a black suv ) with two Asian men (one special korean) rushing came out of the cars calling my sisters's name, each of them picked our luggage into two different cars. I was not even had time to asked my sister and the other man also took my mom's luggage to the other car told us them we go separately. But we reserved ONE car. I thought it was flat rate and maybe cheaper because they may have to pick up another customers at the same way . At the end , we tried to call the company where to reserve the ride the clarified , they were not able to give us an answer of why two cars come and both drivers request us to paid $37. And one of them at at intimidating us that he is going to call the police if we don't pay while my sister call the company , asked my sister to put on hold while the driver also call in the same time to clarified . The company representative instead of helping us , they disconnected the call and have the driver handle and told him to also call the police . Literally, as a tourist that rushing to airport for flight we have no time to to deal with this while also 3 children were there . We ended up just paid both for $80 ride to airport omg ! We gave this company 4 chances. 1. Arranged a pickup from the airport days in advance via their website. THEY NEVER SHOWED UP. Not even a call. We tried to call them while at the airport and no one answered the phone. 2. (This is the only reason for the 2 stars) We needed a ride to my-inlaws place. Called up Charley's the woman who took our call and the driver that showed were very pleasant and prompt. 3. Called Charley's again from my inlaws to our hotel. THEY NEVER SHOWED UP AGAIN. Firstly, aren't these guys a local company? The woman who answered the phone did not know the damn area. After waiting 45min we receive a text stating "did you still need a ride?" They apparently did not have a car available for 2 adults and 3 children at that time but we should have been informed earlier so we could've made other arrangements. 4. Upon leaving Hawaii, there was a Charley's van waiting in idle right outside our hotel. I asked the driver if he was waiting on a rider he stated no and that he would take us to wherever we needed to go. After telling the driver that we needed to go to the airport he straight up told us "no, that's ok. I'm not going that way". WOW. We go back home to Hawaii every year, we will not be using this service anymore. read more

Easy to pick up Charley's Taxi at Hilton Hawaiian Village. However, when dropped off at a local restaurant in a generally busy area, we were told you could just wave down a taxi for pickup (9:30 pm). This is not true per our experience. Ended up calling them and waiting for about 15 minutes which normally wouldn't be too bad, but the restaurant had closed, no where to sit to wait and pedestrian traffic was getting less and less. It was very easy& convenient to book my HNL Airport arrival taxi ride (single rider, sedan, to Waikiki) on Charley's Taxi's website this morning while waiting for my flight from Orange County to HNL. I received a text response/confirmation immediately after booking my ride which also included a link that had arrival instructions which were easy to follow. A very clean, newer model minivan with courteous a masked driver drove up to my bench at pickup area 5 & loaded my bags. Pickup area 5 was a short walk from baggage claim 31. Driver quoted me a flat rate, $31 +tax= $34.97, I paid him $42 which included 20% tip. I would definitely book Charley's Taxi online again. read more

Forget UBER on Oahu... they will drop you in a heartbeat and pass you on and on and on. If you want RELIABLE transportation, clean vehicles and people who know where they are going - call Charley's Taxi. It sounds crazy but they are truly the best and most reliable transportation on the island. I can't compare pricing - because everyone else wasn't reliable.. but you can count on them. Had to use them probably 10 times - 9 drivers were great - 1 was in a bad mood.. can't imagine why - $10.00 to go 1/4 of a mile! (none of them like short distances - it takes them out of the line up!) but 90% is good with me. Best method is to put them in your phone when you get there - or even before you head to Oahu - set up a reservation and the rest is a breeze. Yeah I'm not even going to read the reviews here so it doesn't bias my opinion! This is the company our department uses for transportation to and from the military base and we have yet to have any significant issue with them. They always seem to be on time plus or minus 10 minutes which is fine if you are planning appropriately. The dispatch center is amazingly friendly and is very professional. I'm sure ill regret the 5 star review at some point but they are on point for now. read more

The app they try to use to keep up with Uber and Lyft is a complete fraud of a joke... Tried booking to head north from town and the app doesn't even work. Look at the request times and how after 4mins, it's still searching for a driver. Get out of here. Then to top it off, what really got to me, I check fares for Uber ($43.75) and Lyft ($47.04); they are almost half of what it cost for me to go through with Charley's ($93!!!)... Yeah ooookkkaaaayy. Tell me more why anyone should even consider using a taxi anymore. Save yourself the hassle, (unless you have a flip phone or a phone that doesn't have basic touch screen) and never use this company unless you like to throw money away. read more

Horrible!!!!!! Do not use this taxi service! They have horrible communication skills and even worse service. I called 3 times to confirm our reservation for (6) people including 2 infants. (Total= 6 passengers) with 10 luggages and 1 stroller will fit in their van/shuttle taxi. All 3 agents told me that all passengers and luggages will fit in the shuttle/taxi. This was not the case on the day we were suppose to be picked up to get dropped of for our early 7am flight out of Oahu. The company operator informed me that they have only 6 passengers with NO luggage! (Who the heck on their right mind would think 6 people with 2 infants would go to the airport without luggage!! I complained to the operator for their awful communication and customer service. At no point did they apologized. They sent a 2nd taxi/shuttle to pick up the rest of our luggage and 3 passengers. I requested to speak to their supervisor. I did not get a call from A supervisor to address my complaint. Go with a different taxi/shuttle service to avoid issues!! Don't trust this company. I will communicate my experiences with friends and family to avoid this company in the future. If I had a choice to select NO stars I would! read more

Gave Charley's Taxi a call the night arriving to Honolulu and made a pick-up reservation from Honolulu Airport to Disney's Aulani Resort. They were very helpful on the phone and answered all my questions. Plus, they let us know the flat rate for the drive. We called Charley's Taxi after picking up our luggage from baggage claim and a driver arrived within 10 minutes to take us to the resort. The van was spacious and super clean.
