We found Eric online, briefly after starting fostering an orfan kitten, as soon as we figure that introducing him to our pitbull mix dog was going to require a higher lever of expertise. Shortly after emailing him, Eric called me back and spent one hour over the phone getting to know me and understanding our needs. We scheduled our home assessment/training and I was impressed by the amount of time and dedication he put into our meeting. It started educating us (including my 7yo) on how to understand dog psychology, and then he observed the dog and cat interaction. He gave us specific tasks to accomplish daily and continued to follow up with weekly calls and texts to assure things were moving forward. Since we met 2 months ago, he has continued to check on us weekly, available 24/7 and we could not be happier about his service. Our dog accepted the cat, they can be around in the same room, play and love each other. Thanks to him our cat is officially a foster-failure and now part of our family!

Eric is phenomenal! Before we even started training we had several phone calls, he answered so many questions we had as new puppy owners and was extremely helpful leading up to our puppies board and train. We did a lot of research to find a well educated and caring trainer and Eric was a perfect fit for us. He is a great communicator with both the animal as well as the owners. He sent many pictures and videos throughout the trainings. We highly recommend his two week board and train, as well as in-home sessions! if you want an obedient and loving environment in your home call Eric today!

Eric Dorfman saved my dog's life and gave me the tools and confidence to handle him with discipline and love. If you're reading this, you may feel as desperate, helpless and lost as I did. Breathe. You've found the right guy to help you and your dog. My pup was seven months old when I reached the end of my rope. I had adopted him with my boyfriend, from a coworker who plucked him off the streets of East Oakland, five months earlier, starving and weak. I thought love, puppy school, timeouts, and studying Cesar Milan were all I needed to give my first dog what he needed to grow into a balanced happy dog, but he was more than I could handle and the training information we were receiving wasn't enough. His rambunctious behaviors were nearly uncontrollable. The nipping, zoomies and impolite play with other dogs that was forgivable in a small pup became problems as Sahara grew strong and healthy. Timeouts in the bathroom were a game to him, if he wanted to be on the sofa, he was going to win by outlasting me, in energy. Stubbornness grew into lunging, snarling and biting. And then he bit me several times on a hike. It took me a while to calm/control him. I was terrified I had a red zone dog. My heart was heavy knowing I was failing with him, at the same time, I didn't trust him anymore. I didn't know if there was hope and not knowing made my world go black. He had gotten kicked out of a play group because he didn't know how to play nicely with the other dogs and the walkers couldn't deal with him. I found another group who said they would train him, but when I told the owner about the biting, she said they couldn't take him. She terrified me with her opinions of his future. When I cancelled our third puppy class, although we had attended two and knew two of the trainers, they weren't able to offer much other than a trainer referral who did one-on-one sessions. I didn't get my money back either. I felt let down and shamed, and still frightened. I wanted Sahara evaluated for aggression, retrained by a specialist and given the opportunity to succeed, either with me or someone else, I wasn't sure which. My boyfriend and I needed to be trained to be effective respected leaders. So I kept searching. We both made calls, wrote emails and waited for responses. We learned the shelters wouldn't take pitbulls and pit mixes. The lack of options are scary in this situation. I finally stumbled on Eric's website and called him. These amazing events followed: he answered his phone - (this blew me away); he listened to my story, and told me not to worry; gave me an incredible dog history lesson; described his set-up and business, and invited us to check it out. Calm, assertive, confident energy - the guy radiates it, even over the phone. I felt a glimmer of hope for the first time in a week. That weekend my boyfriend, Sahara and I visited Eric's Rehab Resort in the Oakland hills. It's a lovely place, green and quiet. The instant Sahara saw Eric walking towards us, he responded as if Eric had raised him from a pup. From 50 yards away, Sahara felt his energy and wanted to go to him. Eric slipped his own collar and leash on him and walked him around a little. Sahara trotted happily beside him, not pulling, looking up at him for further direction. We were incredulous. More stress drained from our bodies when Eric said Sahara was pretty good for a street dog. A few days later, Sahara went to bootcamp with Eric Dorfman. I visited a few times to walk Sahara, he was completely under Eric's command. He listened. I could see how hard he was working. Eric told me he was a good dog, with zero impulse control and was horrible with other dogs. And he told me not to worry. He told me that every time we spoke. I asked him if he thought he was a dangerous aggressive dog and he said no, don't worry. I didn't know if he was blowing smoke up my ass or not. All I could do was be patient. Two weeks went by and it was time for us to get trained and for Sahara to come home. Eric brought him back; and it was as if he brought us a different dog. A peaceful dog. He kept him on a leash at his side, Sahara calmly stayed with him, sitting, laying, putting his head on Eric's leg and accepting the affection Eric showed him, to which Sahara responded to by relaxing and behaving. The three hour training was brilliant, irreverent and hilarious. Eric entertains and trains. We couldn't yet see how it would play out but it made sense. It's been two months since Sahara came home. He listens and obeys me. He doesn't behave like a brat, instead he is calm and loving. His manners improve every day. I talk to Eric frequently to ask his advice and for support which he always gives. He is there when you need him. I follow his training program religiously because it works. Trust Eric's methods. Your dog will be balanced and happy, and your life will change for the better. Eric saved my dog's life. And gave me my best friend. Thank you Eric.

If I could give a review for Bill's Mutt House I would in a heartbeat! A little bit about us: we have 3 pups we adopted from a rescue almost 2 years ago, 2 littles and their mom. When we adopted them they all had some form of past trauma, but even with the challenges our pups have, I can confidently say that all the employees who work here are AMAZING with ALL dogs, even ones who need a little more TLC like ours! Our pups have never been boarded or to doggie daycare before, so naturally we were nervous about how they would do at first, but after the initial meet and greet all our worries were gone we could see right away that this place and all the people here are amazing with dogs and passionate about their work. Jonathan was the first employee we met at the meet and greet, he made the initial process easy and seamless. I really appreciate all the time he spent explaining everything in detail, answering all our questions, and bringing other dogs out slowly to get our pups adjusted and see how they did. Jonathan also gave us a tour of the yards and facility, so we got to see the kennel our pups would stay in and feel how great their AC is (which in AZ good AC for fur babies is a must have!) We knew when our nervous reserved boy Apollo attached to Jonathan right away that this was the perfect place with the perfect people While our pups were there, the employees even worked with all 3 of them on leash training and got our boy Apollo a LOT more comfortable on a leash! I was worried Apollo might not be able to work past his trauma with leashes, but having the amazing people at Bills work with him during his stay has helped him improve drastically. The rotation system they use is also wonderful, they put pups in groups that do well together to ensure all the dogs are in a group that fits their individual needs and comfort level (because like us humans, not all dogs get along with eachother ). They rotate the groups outside constantly throughout the day, so every pup gets lots of time outside in the yard to play and socialize. They made sure to put our pups with a calm group so they could ease into this new experience. Another thing I liked is that they post videos on their Instagram several times a day, so while we were out of town we were able to see our babies while they were in the yard playing and socializing I love the fact that we were able to have all 3 of our pups in the same kennel during their stay, so they could sleep together and be more comfortable. They have a wide variety of kennel sizes and can have your pups stay together or separate, depending on what they need and their size. I also really appreciate how transparent they are about their pricing, it was very reasonable and fair, plus there were no hidden fees/costs or anything that suddenly changed at pick up. It was all laid out and explained thoroughly during the meet and greet, and since we were able to have all 3 of our pups in the same kennel we were able to save a little on the daily rate! The wide range of pick up/drop off time is very convenient too. You can drop off and pick up anytime between 7AM - 9PM, which made planning our weekend trip sooooo much easier! Overall we are 1 million % happy with our experience at Bill's Mutt House! It's puppy paradise If you're on the fence about where to go and took the time to read my novel then look no further! I can confidently say beyond a shadow of a doubt that this place is the BEST place for all doggie boarding and daycare needs. Our fur babies deserve the best care, and we will only go here from now on because they are THE best! Thank you again to everyone at Bill's Mutt House, we appreciate the wonderful care you gave our pups and are excited to bring them back for more daycare and boarding visits! I know the pups are excited too The Radke Family

Nelson did great overnight and came home happy and relaxed, which was exactly what we were hoping for. We talked over with the trainer our concern that Cooper needs to be around other dogs and get socialized and learn to not be so excited when he comes in contact with other dogs. She said we would give us back a gentleman after his training. I was told we would be updated with videos and pictures of Cooper since we were going to be out of town and wanted to know how he was doing. We dropped him off Jan. 16th and on Jan. 20th I asked if she could send a video of Cooper. We didn't get a video or pictures until Jan. 23rd. I called her and asked how much time she was spending a day training Cooper. She said to start out it has to be short increments of 10- 15 minutes. I asked where he is the rest of the time and she said in his kennel. I said that is a long time to keep him in the kennel. To this day Cooper hates being in a kennel. He cries and howls so loud. Cooper only played with mainly one dog that was there for one week. We were hoping to bring home a better trained dog and we worked with him so much and still do , but he has a long way to go. I could not recommend this place. We have a sweet smart dog, but the training for $2400 was like throwing money in the garbage. I wish I would have done more research and found a place where they weren't afraid of getting dogs together to socialize. We are going to take him to another trainer that does so much more than this place did. I hate writing reviews like this, but so many people told me I need to. Pamela D.

When we adopted Angus, an American Bulldog, he was extremely reactive, had zero impulse control, and was tough to manage. Walks were stressful--he would bark, lunge, and completely lose it around other dogs. Recall was non-existent, and previous trainers had little success with him. After his time at CharlieBar, everything changed. Angus now walks calmly on a leash, his reactivity has decreased by at least 90%, and he thrives during his daily training sessions at home. The most remarkable part of Ricardo's approach is that it goes beyond basic commands--he teaches dogs how to think, make decisions, and self-correct. It's not just about punishment or praise; it's about helping dogs understand their choices. With a simple "uh uh," Angus now stops, thinks, and chooses better behavior--without fear or confusion. We're beyond grateful for the results and highly recommend CharlieBar to anyone looking to make a lasting difference in their dog's behavior.
