Before Thanksgiving we took my husbands Chevy caprice to have a exhaust leak and tune up done and I think something else was fixed I just dont remember. They had his car a full week. When he picked the car up Charlie told my husband he noticed another leak in the exhaust (manifold) that pissed us off because he could've called when he noticed it so that we could've decided to have it repaired as he was repairing the other leak But waited until we came to get the car. I feel Like he didn't say anything because this was already a costly repair and maybe he didn't wanna risk not making money on any repair. I could be wrong but it just doesn't make sense why he didnt alert us to this at the time of initial repair. the next day my husband said now his car is stalling but starts back up. That's strange because it wasn't doing that prior to being repaired. I thought maybe the other leak in the exhaust may be the culprit. We had to wait a bit to do anymore repairs because my car needed to be looked at to. So I took my car to Charlies because my engine was vibrating and there was a weird noise and some hesitation when accelerating. He had my car for a week. He told me all of my motor mounts were broken except the right one (that one was just replaced a few months prior). I told him these motor mounts have been a nightmare as this was like the 4th set in 2 years. He told me that he advises genuine Toyota mounts so I agree. I come to get my car and I pay for the service Charlie comes in and tells me that the weird noise is gone and that Toyota engines vibrate he also said he noticed that my timing chain is going bad and that he doesn't know if it would be worth it to me to fix. I was pissed because again he could've called and said this as he was doing repairs already but again I suspect he didnt say that purposely in case fixing the timing chain wasn't worth it to me and I decided not to do the other repairs. Upon starting my car up it's now vibrating worse then when I brought it in. the dash board is basically jumping and the side mirrors are vibrating. I drove home because I was so ANGRY and btw the noise he said was gone wasnt and it's worse. When I got home I discovered one of my hub caps was missing and I looked under the hood and all of a sudden the hood wouldn't stay up on its own, it did before taking it to Charlie's and I looked at the receipt and it says nothing that the mounts are TOYOTA MOUNTS so I have no clue if they really are. After Thanksgiving I took it back up to Charlie's because I spent a lot of money for repairs to get my car back in worse shape. He said he'd check it out. He had my car for another week and I had to continually call to find out what was going on because they werent. Finally I couldn't wait any longer and had to go get my car because I had a medical reason I needed my car to be able to get to. When I got my car he said something about the air conditioner and I think he said he charged it which I appreciate. He told me to bring it back when I could. Now last Thursday my husband dropped his car off before they opened to find out why his car keeps stalling and to get the other exhaust leak repaired and to get new springs put in the front and back of the car. I called them once they opened to tell Charlie what was going on and I needed to see how much it would be to put the springs on and do the exhaust repair. He said he'd check it out and give me a call back. Thursday & Friday comes and goes no call, Saturday and Sunday they are closed. Monday afternoon I call and Charlie said hes still working on it and that he only has one half of the cost to install new springs and he would call me in a few hours. Tuesday he calls and says he can't get the car to stall probably because it's so cold outside and the car needs to be hot but he "FEELS" like it's the distributor. And he gave me the cost of all repairs. I called my husband and we agreed we weren't gonna shell out money based on a "FEELING".but agreed to have exhaust, and springs replaced. Thursday car is ready and we pick up. husband comes home hot mad because now all of a sudden he opens his door and hear ticking and the hazzard light are going off. he goes back in and Charlie said it's something to do with the alarm. He said nothing about it initially. Shady!!! We disconnected the battery and then I discovered the culprit of the stalling issue and totally amazed Charlie didn't see it being it was so obvious. We had the hose taped up and they had to of undone it exposing a hole during the tune up because that's when the stalling issue happened but Charlie said NOTHING about it then or now. That hose has been a problem for sometime as we've tried having it repaired but told they can't get the part from several mechanics (not Charlies). Now we Can't get the hazzard lights off. This place is just unprofessional and Id like to just get my money back being my car is WORSE and more seems to come back wrong on my husbands after repair. read more

I was than greeted by a very well-mannered gentleman by the name of Michael (which come to find out is Charlie's Dad), WHAT A GENTLEMAN IN ALL TRUE FORMS! Within 5 mins- i felt so comfortable as in i knew him for 15 years! NOw again keep in mind my Position, my Decorated Career with Ford, and the Opening of my own privately owned High-End Auto Firm across (diaganally Gulf-To-Bay being built and remodeled at 1616 Gulf-To-Bay), All i needed was a simple jump bc my Lincoln Battery had dead as well as the Overheating and spewing of anti-freze everywhere can be catastrophic for a Vehicle no matter how old, new, make, or model, so Instead of bringing my car to FORD (nobody else EVER touches' my car other than my guys at Ford due to my 75,000 share invested interest and countless years of Continued Success, guess what i did?) Instead of tipping the man with a firm well-deserved handshake and a man to man old-fashioned handshake- I SET AND BOOKED THE APPT FOR CHARLIE'S TO COMPLETE THE MINOR REPAIR!!!! Moral of the story is, with Running a Franchise #1 in the world Ford Motor Co. Dealership(s), ever since i started as a Salesman fresh out of High School til' this day- Service Dept. is never something that can be 'perfected' it's decades old and known in the Business. Sales? Yes, can be perfect. Service? NO. In closing, CHARLIE HAS PERFECTED THE ART, DECOR, EQUIPMENT, ENVIORMENT, KNOWLEDGE, COURTESY, PROFESSIONALISM, AND RESPECT that i know FoMoCo has paid BILLIONS OF DOLLARS to get even near the Formula Charlie, his Dad Mike, and Crew have done in perfecting the art in what's SO IMPORTANT= Service, and Mechanics! I had an ongoing issue with my tachometer, fuel quantity gauge and water temperature gauges not working. I just lived with it for a couple of years. A few days ago the linkage controlling the shifting of the transmission had a bushing wear out and it became disconnected. I had to take the car in to get the linkage fixed as the car is undriveable without it. I asked Charlie to go ahead and look at the instrument cluster too while the car was there. He ended up removing the iinstrument cluster from the dashboard and sending it to a company in Oldsmar that rebuilds these things. I had no idea there were companies around here that did that. My car was in his shop for about 24 hours. He fixed my shifting problem and with the instruments working it seems like a new car! Price was reasonable but the quality of workmanship and the knowledge and experience that Charlie has, stands out in these sometimes difficult to trust businesses. Excellent service with friendly smiles in a comfortable environment. It has taken years for me to finally go to an independent mechanic shop vs the dealership because of all my horrible experiences in the past. My repair was small but Charlie provided direction when his after market parts folks did not offer my part. I had to replace the passenger side mirror on my Lexus ES350. The dealership quoted minimally $800 to do the job. $800?!?! They said an OEM mirror costed $400. Nope, nope and more nope. I ordered the part myself for $99 and scheduled an appointment (please note that it was an aftermarket part that had 10 pins vs 12 on the Lexus part but it works just fine). I arrived 20 minutes early but Charlie worked on my car immediately and finished quickly. I highly recommend them for repairs. I needed two new front tires and had been told by my car dealership I needed an alignment. The alignment at the car dealer was going to be $150. I checked around several places and found the tires would be about the same at Charlie's but the alignment would be $85. I made an appointment to have Charlie replace the tires and do the alignment. I arrived to my appointed time. My car was taken right in. It was fixed within the time I was told but the best part was when I went to pay. I noticed I had not been charged for the alignment. When I asked about it Charlie said I didn't need one. When they got it up and checked it out everything was straight. I definitely won't be going back to the dealership again. Neither of us had ever been in Tampa or knew anything about where to go for auto care. Another car care company told me that I had a transmission fluid leak so I brought my vehicle to Charlie's and they were able to determine quickly that it was an oil leak. They knew exactly what parts they needed to order and was able to fix it quickly. They even transported me to and from my home because they, understandably, needed it all day to get the job done.
