They were extremely busy post church service I'm sure, but they did not seem overwhelmed with themselves. A great group of nice people here at Charlie's. The side portions were larger than what we get in Muskogee Charlie's East and West. Generous size combo portions for a simple three chicken combo for example. The chicken chunks are bigger in size too compare to their Muskogee counterparts.. I feel Muskogee needs to take note and serve their guests better. Definitely will be back. We love Charlie's chicken and was so sad when ours in Miami, OK closed down. We were at a football game and seen there was a Charlie's nearby so we made the drive and it was worth it! Had a lunch event catered and the place was great. One of the owners delivered and set everything up for us. We had plenty of food! "Chunks" of chicken are delicious as is the potato salad. The coleslaw is pretty pedestrian but the rolls are delicious with a hint of honey-sweetness. We also had gallons of tea and lemonade delivered. The lemonade was great! Will definitely use them again and will stop by when I'm in Pryor! read more

Dang. We had been on the road for 8 hours from College Station, Texas and came in sweaty and hot. We had barely cracked open the door and the manager of Charlie's was already on our case, offering cold drinks and hot BBQ, serving up a sampler plate of their signature chicken. Five stars, right away. Charlie's has a great menu selection, offering plates with sides or no sides, fried okra or just a plate full of meat. I split a whole side of ribs with my teenage son, no sides. Everybody else got chicken or brisket or whatnot. The ribs were very good. Top marks for management, service, attention to customer, and quality food. With full stomachs, we made it past Springfield (MO) up I-44. read more

I'm not really a fan of this place, but it has pretty good fried chicken. I would prefer this place over Popeyes, KFC, or Churches for sure though. They also have BBQ and other fixings, but I have not tried them yet. The establishment looks a little out of it's time, but considering it's in Pryor it fits in just fine. The TV's are the old CRT type and this place doesn't really have anything fancy. The service is not too bad. The manager came out and greeted us, ensuring we are having a good meal. Although most of the stuff is unhealthy here, I wouldn't mind coming back and trying something else. read more

Walk up and place your order and move down the line to choose your side dishes and desert. Was just passing through during a road trip and decided to take a risk on a one-off chicken bbq joint that was Charlie's. Shane greeted us immediately and was so nice about letting us try some chicken samples, buying our drinks as it was our first time in, and showing us what real fried chicken is. We stopped by for some carryout during a roadtrip. The staff was helpful and fast. The food was good. We got the beef, which is more Arby's style then Texas brisket style, chicken chunks, green beans, broccoli cheese rice, broccoli slaw, and pea salad. This is a tricky place to review. Your expectations for dining in a small city like Pryor should be relatively low (no offense, nice people of Pryor, but there are very few options and less competition means less incentive to put out quality food). That being said, I didn't know something as bluntly-named as "chicken chunks" could be so tasty. I ordered 5 of these all white meat chunks of boneless chicken, complete with spicy bbq sauce and country gravy. The good: The chicken was juicy and delicious. The bbq sauce was sweet and peppery, with lots of flavor. They have mild versions, too. The bad: I got a pre-frozen ball of mashed potato on my plate with gravy from a packet. No down-home love here. The ugly: The place looks and feels grimy. Just because you cook with oil doesn't mean you have to smear it on the tables, guys. A little cleanliness goes a long way. For a cheap meal on the go, the chicken chunks were a surprisingly good eat. But never, ever go out of your way for a place that can't even keep their restaurant clean on a slow afternoon. read more

I walk in and was greeted while I read the menu specials at the beginning of the cafeteria style restaurant. The server kindly explained how everything worked. The cafeteria-style restaurant menu items looked like mostly comfort food sides and main dishes. Since I wanted some kind of barbecue I chose smoked turkey and my two sides were broccoli rice casserole and broccoli slaw. I just realized while writing this that I had two broccolis. The smoke turkey came out like deli meat, thinly sliced. Since the meat came from the back, I have no way of knowing if it really was deli meat. I would say it tasted like good deli meat. The broccoli rice casserole was salty and tasted somewhat processed. I really enjoyed the broccoli slaw which I have never had before. It had a very good fresh, crunchy and flavorful taste. I would definitely go back for that side dish. The other comfort food side dishes looked okay but I'm glad I picked the broccoli slaw. As I drove through other small towns in Oklahoma, I saw more of these Charlie's Chicken and BBQ restaurants, so I see that it must be an Oklahoma chain. read more

We've eaten at other Charlie's Chicken locations and this one is far and away the best location. We pretty much refuse to go to the other ones now!
