The order was for 1500 sq ft of Bitter Blue sod. He and his crew arrived on time, leveled the yard, removed roots and graded surface for proper drainage. They were done in 2 hours. He reviewed care and watering and suggested an excellent lawn service for fungicide and fertilizer follow up. Three weeks post sod layment and my grass looks fantastic. I hired Charlie's re-sod after consulting with my brother who is a pretty knowledgeable grass man - he's the one who recommended Charlie. I got a couple of quotes for 2,000 sq feet of St. Augustine and they all came in around the same. The difference was that Charlie could do the job sooner than the other companies. Install was quick, happened in a single day. I was skeptical about the fact that they don't kill everything in the yard because my yard was full of weeds and crap from when the previous owner lived here, and I didn't want any of those lawn blemishes to survive a re-sod. He instructed me to water it daily for 30 days, which I did. The only complaint I have is that there's one part of the grass by the rear fence and it's a pretty large part, that is completely dead and I'm pretty sure it's because it's not getting hit by any sprinkler. Charlie evaluated the yard before he did the install and let me know where there were needed sprinkler heads. If I had known about this one area, I would've ensured proper irrigation before it was installed and completely died. Overall, lawn maintenance and care can be costly. I'm hoping that this lawn will survive for many years and I won't have to spend thousands of dollars fixing it ever again. read more

Update (March 2026): The business owner recently responded claiming the appointment was canceled. I want to clarify that no cancellation for this appointment was ever communicated. We had a confirmed date, and despite multiple follow-ups, we received no response. We also have timestamped text messages and a submitted contact form documenting our outreach. The tone of the owners response speaks for itself. Disappointed and frustrated! Charlie resodded a large portion of our yard on April 19th. We had him back out on August 19th to provide an estimate for an additional area of our front yard. He confirmed he would be out on Weds Aug 23rd a.m. and never showed! Last correspondence via text from him on August 19th was " ok boss, have you on for Wednesday a.m." We then sent him 2 texts the day of the scheduled install with no response. Since then we've left him 2 voicemails, sent 3 texts, and even sent in a contact form on his website. He completely blew us off and continues to ignore our reach outs with no understanding as to why. Terrible way to treat a customer! There are plenty of great sod companies around the Tampa bay and Pasco county areas- please avoid this one! read more

Charle's Resod delivered sod that looked good when delivered but in fact turned brown after a short while and my lawn looked like a checkerboard. Some of his bitter blue sod was ok and some of it was very bad. Some of the pieces of sod were replaced but then I had the same problem with new sod dying. I called Charlie and he was defensive and would not stand behind his defective sod. He was very happy to take my money but does not stand behind his defective product. Caution, caution, caution! If you want to throw away your money, this is the sod company for you. I have had a lawn pest control company come monthly and treat this sod and they are having a lot of trouble treating this defective sod. Note: All Phaze Irrigation hired this man, Charlie, and they also will not stand behind this defective sod product. All Phaze Irrigation owned by Bryan took my six and a half thousand dollars gladly and once they knew that they provided a poor product with this sod would not answer my phone calls. read more

I had sod install in September 2024 of St. Augustine. On delivery Pallets were short of sod. I thought they measured correctly. They picked up some sod locally to finish the job. It looked really bad and they even used some of my old sold to fill in those empty spots. Some of the sod had yellow blades and install had other areas completely brown. Called and Charlies said " no worry just water and use anti fungal. " Followed instructions. It started to look good somewhat, Not an improvement just staying alive so I thought. Never really filled in and outer edges started to get more yellow blades. Then the entire lawn started to brown. Like all of it very suddenly. Now, 6 months later it is all completely DEAD. I was not impressed with the install at all. Equipment kept breaking down and lot of cussing. The owner kept blaming the equipment for errors and the incapability to properly remove ALL the existing dead sod from before. It was painful for me. Their fancy tee shirts they wore did not impress me. Price was high. And now a dead lawn. I called and response was " no worry it will come come back." Sure. Maybe in my next lifetime. I do not recommend. EVER! Go elsewhere and get quality work. My gut feelings were right on. What was I supposed to do when I felt hostage? Charlie and his crew came out to Re-Sod my entire back yard and with short time frame because of a big party planned in 4 weeks, he expedited everything and got the job done within the next few days. From ground prep to laying the sod, the job was done in one day. Reading some of the comments of people complaining about the grass dying makes me think they really don't understand how crucial their part is In what the grass ends up looking after the new sod is laid. I had literally spent weeks educating my self, watching videos, just so I know how to property care for and be able to spot any issue which will come up after new sod is lid. How much to water, when to water, identifying fungal diseases or insects issue and how to properly and quickly deal with them as they arise. I've seen people burn their new sod thinking it needs a lot fertilizer. Milorganite is probably the only thing I would recommend after about a week or two after laying sod. You will need good fungicide because when you water as much as you need to, there is a good chance fungal disease will start to make your new lawn look like it's dying. In the beginning I must say I was very skeptical because new sod does not look very attractive. It's lumpy and your yard looks like a checker board. With time and proper care, it grows into a very beautiful turf. We went from having a backyard that no one wanted to go on to now I believe I have one of the nicest Zoysia lawns in my area. Charlie's team does a good job laying new sod for a good price, he is not the one responsible for how the lawn will be cared for moving forward. Either educate yourself, or hire an expert. read more

Terrible job. Didn't do any soil prep, threw sod on gravel, rushed the whole job. When he came back to the job at our request, the yard is lumpy, brown spots everywhere he said it will take a year. I would leave zero stars if I could. Sod starting dying in large areas. I gave it some time to see if it would do better and then reached out to Charlie. I followed all his instructions, including using the company he recommended to do all the appropriate fertilizer, etc. As soon as I reached out he immediately attacked and said I was past the 30 day warranty (which he never mentioned). I tried to do the right thing and he was just horrible. I wasn't even expecting it for free, just that he'd work with me to make it right. I strongly recommend you avoid this business. When I brought to the owner's attention that it was too early for them to start, he cursed at me and called me a liar. Generally, extremely rude. Not good. A month after they originally put the sod down, they had to come out and replace nearly 20% of it because it had died. They came out and replaced that sod, half of that died and the original sod is now full of bare spots. $5,000 wasted. And this is after I spent nearly $500 on fertilizers, potassium, Fungicide, and everything else to get this stuff to stop from dying off. Use a different company read more

I looove my new front and backyard! It's been a month, and the grass looks thick, dark green, healthy, and it's growing! Out of 3,500 sqft, I had one square start to brown, but once I fixed the direction of that sprinkler, it filled back in with green. The key with re-sodding at first is that you have to water every night, or you'll be wasting your money. We did that, and we couldn't be more pleased with it! Charlie's price was better than most and he uses a high quality Floratam St Augustine that has beautiful color and no weeds! We plan to use fertilizers and pest control, as he suggested for maintenance, now that the grass has established. Charlie's Re-Sod made our yard beautiful - removal of old grass, leveling, cutting clean edges around beds, and answering all my questions about lawn care.
