Flat tire crisis becomes a minor inconvenience thanks to the folks at Charlie's Tire. Phoned in at 8:00 and said we had a slow leak and could bring in the car but needed to work around some doctor's appointments. Got in at 1:00 and out by 1:40 and made all the appointments. When I called, Charlie's said they'd be able to work on my tire problem in about 2 hours. (Which was by far the soonest of all three of the Brevard tire service businesses I called.) They actually started much sooner than that: in about an hour! They were friendly, competent, excellent communicators, very reasonably priced, and best of all, they didn't try to upsell me. Had a car towed there on a Saturday, the driver ask what should he tell them is wrong with it, he said he would write a note to give Charlie's. Granted it was towed after buisness hours, so my car would not be looked at until Monday. Monday morning at 930AM I called them and the person that answered the phone said they had no idea why the car was there. I told them and they transfered the call to there service person. Noone answered, I left a message letting whom ever know was was wrong with the car. No response all day. Tuesday called again and they said they won't get to it til 300PM. 5PM they closed still no information on any diagnosis, no communication Tuesday???? read more

I guess this business wants to cater to people that kiss their ass and I even spent $1500 on the tires in question here just a month or so ago so I guess its fuck me for wanting to upgrade wheels. Early on a Saturday morning...came in ...was told the wait would be at least one hour, I left, came back, was immediately taken care of. Had a small screw in my tire, they took care of it, even showed me the screw...the charge was 10 bucks, which is totally reasonable. Went in for a repair of a punctured tire. Staff explained the tire was worn and was not in good condition for repair and reuse ( they were correct). Charlie's mounted a new tire quickly and at a reasonable price. The shop is homespun, not much for computerized systems at the front desk. I'm a single mom and took my boys on vacation to Brevard, NC. The day before going home my 4th cylinder started misfiring. I called Charlie's and they were nice enough to fit me into the schedule at 10am the next day, however, they were not nice enough to charge me a reasonable price. I needed coil and a spark plug, which cost $85 for the parts. Charlie's wanted to charge me $613 + tax!!! When I asked how much the service was they said $90/hour. I know that a coil and a spark plug DOES NOT take 5+ hours to change. After a minor heart attack, I told them absolutely not. I took it to Auto Zone to get the parts and the guy at Auto Zone changed them out in the parking lot in 20 minutes. I tipped him very well! I took my car in yesterday morning for a state inspection and parked next to the inspection bay in a marked parking space. As I was about to get out of the car, the inspection bay door opened and a large Ford pickup started backing out. The area behind our vehicles was crowded with a semi trailer and stacks of tires making it difficult for the inspector to back out. I would have been happy to move my vehicle to accommodate the driver but he seemed to have the backing under control. I stepped out and was immediately spoken too by another employee which told me that I should "get out of the way." He then looked at my front tires and said, "they ain't gonna pass inspection." He then proceeded to check out the tire sizes and walk away. He came back to be sure to inform the inspector that the tires needed replacement but had no tires of my size to replace them. I have been buying tires and service with Charlie's Tires for 27 years and have purchased a number of sets from them. The employee was rude and his comments to me were totally uncalled for. Mr. manager/owner of Charlie's, you have lost a $900.00 tire sales and I will never return nor recommend Charlie's Tires again. Employees should never be rude to customers especially when the confrontation was totally unnecessary. I spent my lifetime in retail sales management and I would never have had an employee speak to a customer as this employee spoke to me. I live in Brevard and will take my business elsewhere. Conventional, 5 quart, oil change on an American car...$60.52!!!! I have heard it's buyers beware at Charlie's if they think you're an out-of-towner or recent inplant from out-of-state. I am neither and have brought my car here for work before but today I must have appeared and/or sounded like I was from somewhere else hence the exorbitant charge for a basic oil change. Go to Wal-Mart or Jiffylube, it will be at least $20.00 less and the same if not better wait time. read more

I went in to get inspected for NC which they turned me away for because they didn't have an emissions kit at all. For a repair shop that large, that should be something they have. When I also needed just one single new tire, I was promised less than 1.5 hours and waited for a phone call for over three hours. 3. Hours. The woman at the front desk kept saying I was next, and clearly I wasn't. I was late for an event at 1 having started this whole process when they opened at 7:30. This was ridiculous. The only reason they are not one star is because at least they did the work, but honestly I would have been easier and faster to lay on the ground and change the tire myself. Unreal. No no no no!!!!!!!! Their location is the only reason I think this place gets business. We have taken our vehicle here more than once based SOLELY on this. I'm sad to say our hard earned money was thrown to these clowns. Went in with the engine light coming on and misfiring a little at start up. Dropped $480 with new spark plugs, wires & tune up only to have the light come back on a few days later and the misfiring continue. Took it back and the good ole boy informed us it was related to the catalytic converter & emissions. Our car is registered where emissions inspection isn't necessary so he said that we shouldn't worry about it. He didn't seem too concerned and didn't think it was a big deal. (well no kidding. it's not your car pal) We left thinking the light wasn't a big deal. But the misfiring got worse. We were out of town when we took it to another place. The mechanic asked "no offense but when have you had a tune up last?" Uggggg. I was cursing Charlie's Tire under my breath. Anyway $150 later I have a new 02 sensor and a happy van. I will NEVER RECOMMEND Charlie's Tire & in fact would steer people away from this place. It's a dated shit show. read more

Today I visited this Tire shop & Auto service facility as my tire pressure light was on. I thought my tires just needed air but the mechanic along with the owner took me in the shop to show me the issue. My one tire was really bad and the rest of them were just ok. The owner provided options as I needed to replace all the tires. I cannot say enough about my experience there!!! Do not go here. Not ever, not for any reason, not even if your desperate. Unless as you're a fan of incompetence and waiting hours, HOURS. I brought a work vehicle here first thing in the morning a year ago and it took 2.5 hours to have 4 new tires installed. In addition to that, I had replaced 4 tires on a household vehicle. the tires have only used 20 of the 40 thousand expected miles on them and 3 lose a significant amount of pressure weekly. I called an hour before arriving to ensure the vehicle would get into a bay when I arrived. I arrived and took an hour walk, expecting the car to be finished when I returned, it's not even been looked at. Two hours wasted, nothing accomplished. Never again. Never. read more

My parents take their cars here, which I understand because Brevard is extremely small and there aren't that many options for mechanics. Tires, tune ups etc. have always seemed pretty pricey to me. The people are nice (if you're a local) and most things are done in a timely fashion. One major draw back in my opinion is that they don't have computerized records, so if you can't remember the procedures you had done there a few months/years back, they won't be able to look it up. I would definitely price check with Brevard Tire before having any services done here. read more

Can't do an alignment to the proper torque specs!!! Was almost to Columbia SC before the bolts on my control arm came loose. I was under the car on the side of I-26 tightening bolts on Christmas Eve. I will be asking for a refund. read more

I am currently trying to get my oil changed again and it turns out these guys cross threaded my plug so I may need new parts to my car... In addition to being stuck in Utah for two hours trying to find someone willing to fix it!! Saved us from a lot of trouble ! Price was cheaper than discount tire quoted me last year on 2 tires. I would without a doubt recommend this place ! They are 1000 times more friendlier than any other tire shop i have visited in the past 5 years I've lived in Western NC and i'd replace people who care about you over technology any day in this world we live in today !!!!!! what a great place! my daughter's a/c went out and these guys repaired it at a very reasonable rate. however, when i came to pick up the car, the air was blowing hot. i was hotter than the air coming out of the car on a 95 degree day. i was going to pull the car and write it off to another bad-mechanic experience, but the owner asked if i would give them a chance to get it right. i agreed, but with reservation and concern that i would be charged more for another poor repair. when i returned to pick up the car, the a/c worked perfectly and still does several days later. they left the key locked in the car with a note showing the additional work done to get it right, with a bill and a credit which offset the total of the additional work done. no charge! no one is perfect, and car repair can be quite tricky, but these guys did the right thing and that is a very rare thing these days! i am glad for a company that still does what is right even if it costs them something. cudos to charlies tire! read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! They quoted me a price twice for replacing a battery and then charged me $25 extra because "it was difficult to remove." REALLY? In less than a half an hour they rotated my tires and changed the battery! The battery went dead in two weeks and my neighbor took it out IN 5 MINUTES! The front desk girls are rude and unfriendly and it's so refreshing to hav he dead deer and the black bear looking down on you as you wait to be ripped off. STAY AWAy! These guys stripped the lug nuts while putting on new tires, either lied to me about performing an alignment or did not know what they were doing, and all in all ended up costing me more money when I had to take my car elsewhere and have their screwups fixed. Unprofessional, and by no means personable or helpful. I walk in the door and asked the woman at the counter how much for a balance. She said twenty dollars then asks "ya want me to put ya on a list?". I assumed she was referring to a waiting list so I agreed and had a seat in the waiting area among the taxidermy and a large white bird directly behind said waiting area. When my turn arrived on "the list" the mechanic pointed out that my tires were going bad. He then dropped the car from the lift, threw his thumb over his shoulder in the a gesture of get out while saying "you can just pull it out". The other fella who had been standing there with a goofy grin on his face the whole time says "we got some that look like that inside for about a hundred bucks a piece". I got in my car, backed out, and drove off. That's it. That's all that happened. I got the impression that if you're native to this area you seem to get decent service. If you're travelling, or have re-located then you may not get the best (or in my case) any service. There are plenty of other business in this area that offer mechanic and tire work, and much much more in Asheville and Hendersonville. I simply wanted to support local business but not in this case. I not only wouldn't recommend Charlie's I am going to make it a point to warn others in the area about this place. read more

When driving to Brevard from out of town on a Friday night, our check engine light came on. Saturday morning, we called around, and Charlie's was open for business - we told them our situation and they agreed to see us. I drove down there, within 5 minutes the took my car back, and within another 5 minutes they were done - it was one of those stupid 'gas lock' codes or something. And here is the astonishing thing - they refused payment! So here's to you Charlie's! read more

Have made 3 visits to this business during the last year. Evidently I am a slow learner. 1. Took our 2014 Ford Cmax in for a new tire. Asked them why the low tire indicator was still lit on the dash. Was told the computer would just reset in time. Checked tire pressure myself a few days later and it was 10 psi below the manufacturers recommendation. Inflated it to proper pressure, light went off, no problems since. 2. Took my 1985 Porsche Carerra in to have the right front wheel balanced since the weights had come off. Noticed the next day the lug nuts on that wheel were damaged after I had specifically asked them not to use an impact wrench. They quickly ordered 5 new lug nuts and installed them without a problem. No damage to the new lug nuts which I watched them install. 3. Took the Porsche in a few weeks later to have the autocross tires installed and again emphasized I did not want an impact wrench used on my car. Noticed before leaving that they had damaged every lug nut on the car. The people I purchased the wheels and lug nuts from assure me they can not be damaged like this if they are removed and installed without the use of air tools. The owner basically told me I should have provided them with the proper tool (socket) if I didn't want them damaged and he also told me they did not use air tools on my car. I don't believe him. The wheels are nearly 4 years old and have been on and off the vehicle numerous times in Colorado without damage. read more
