I shopped at Charlotte Appliance after I purchased a refrigerator at Lowe's -- Lowe's had scheduled delivery and the day prior they informed me the product was on back order and did not know when it would be delivered. I went to Charlotte Appliance and was able to select and purchase a refrigerator in about 20 minutes! The salesman asked what I wanted, told me which items were in stock and pointed me in the right direction. Delivery was in 2 days and Mike and Rick did a wonderful delivery and installation! About the money and not the customer. They have been a staple in rochester for as long as I could remember. My father use to sell Antonelli the appliances he would sell to customers. I went to buy, by recommendation by a contractor a high-end refrigerator ($10k+). Without disclosing, they sold us a discounted used floor model, without disclosing to us. They said they sold it to the contractor, they did not. They did they would stand behind it, they did not. They said they would take it back after we discovered it was. Used floor model, they didn't. The sales guy with a VERY similar name to the owner, lied to us multiple times. Then they said they would take it back but we had to pay their profit on the system, and then still didn't take it back. We are out $$$ with a used built in fridge that they wanted to sell without disclosing that it was a used floor model. We have the emails and the proof. BUYER BEWARE. Highly recommend big box stores next time. They will make it right.They have guarantees and not greedy little owners who care more about their weekly profit then they do the customer. read more

I purchased a flat top stove from your store approximately one year ago. I was not looking for a bargain appliance, only something dependable and safe. The sales representative recommended this model and assured me it was a good purchase. Recently, the stove began malfunctioning. I set one of the burners on low heat and stepped away briefly. Within a couple of minutes, I smelled something burning and returned to find my food badly burned and smoke throughout the kitchen. The burner clearly did not regulate the temperature properly. This is no longer just an inconvenience -- it is a serious safety concern and potential fire hazard. I am extremely disappointed that an appliance only one year old is already defective and unsafe to use. read more

Today we had a beautiful French door GE refrigerator delivered. Our first impression was top notch! Angel and Joe were a joy. Because we originally had a copper water line---they removed some of line and installed a grooved line to prevent any kind of leakage! Absolutely blown away by our positive experience at Charlotte Appliance. We live in Honeoye Falls and have never been to Charlotte Appliance. Having received mediocre service from big box retail and local appliance stores advertising a wide selection only to find out we need to order and wait several weeks to receive our appliance, it was refreshing to walk in and buy a new washer & dryer set at Charlotte Appliance in less than an hour. We were greeted when we entered the business and again when we entered the appliance area by an employee named Mark. He was very helpful, answered all our questions, shared some excellent insights on the various appliance manufactures and options and really helped make our decision easy. He was professional, engaging, friendly and provided a level of support we've not experienced in years. It was like having a family member help us. We do like the Ashley loveseat we got from Charlotte, but I just want to point out a consideration: we paid for the loveseat (around$1,000) on the 3rd of September, and it was paid out by our credit card on the 5th. Then we waited and waited and waited. Finally we called "oh we thought it had been delivered!" and another couple of weeks went by. My husband had to call and be the "guy". We walked in at 5:45pm on a Saturday. They were closing off the lights and explained they were getting ready to close up at 6:00 PM. When we inquired that the google page said they were open until 8:30 PM, the guy at the front counter said "oh that again? They were messing us up and we are closing up". Meanwhile my husband was looking at a very high end dishwasher and the guy said "are you looking at that model? It's been popular, probably could have it by Wednesday but we'd have to look". Then he paused so my husband said "I guess we can come back". The guy said "ok, well I'm Mark, ask for me". Went here because we wanted to support a local business and get better service and quality. Unfortunately not the case. Although the sales person was nice and seemed knowledgeable - the product we got was awful. We had to wait because what we bought was broken at the warehouse, and when we finally did receive it, the freezer and dishwasher were not working properly. Which we realized after it was installed. It's not like you can see that it is not going to work when they deliver it. But because it was already delivered Charlotte wouldn't do anything and we had to go directly to the manufacturer. Let me tell you how fun that has been. We spent thousands on a kitchen renovation to have broken appliances. I get stuff happens and that is ok, but it is how a business deals with it, and Charlotte has chosen to not deal with it at all. read more

I ordered a refrigerator from Charlotte for my new house. I was upsold to a different model, the salesman saying that the model I chose was a "leprechaun." However, the model I ended up receiving was too large for my late-1940s era kitchen. I noticed this the same day when the door wouldn't open all the way and I couldn't walk past the fridge without my shoulders hitting the wall - the laundry basket always hits the fridge or the wall when I walk by. This was about a month ago. Since then, I've selected a new, smaller refrigerator that Charlotte appliance says they can deliver to replace the too-large refrigerator. They said it would be there before my housewarming party in mid-October, to no avail. Each week, it continues to fail to arrive. The too-large fridge was delivered October 3, 2017. We tried to buy washing machine after they told us the price they told us that there would be a $69 delivery charge plus $20 to dispose of the old machine We only live 5 miles away. What a great experience. I am used to big box stores like Home Depot or Lowes, so stopping at Charlotte was new for me! My husband and I were looking for a dishwasher and stopped into Home Depot regarding one we had found online. The salesmen was nice but he didn't have the model we were looking for. Unfortunately all of the ones in our price range were delivery from online only and you had to pay a delivery fee (which defeated the purpose of the lower priced model-and delivery was not something we needed). We opted to drive out to Charlotte. The selection was awesome and the salesmen was super knowledgeable. He was able to explain all the bells and whistles so we could decide which we care about or not. He was also very low pressure, showing us things within what we wanted to spend. They had the model on stock and loaded it right into our truck, no problems at all. I was so happy to have the great service and support a local business. Will return the next time we need a replacement or an upgrade on an appliance or furniture. read more

As part of my ongoing moving process, one of the hurdles I faced was a distinct lack of couch. I suppose I could have just gotten a big air mattress for my living room (or worse, an extraordinarily uncomfortable futon that harkened back to dorm room days), but I knew it was time to act like an adult and go furniture shopping at an actual furniture store. It had been almost a decade since my last need for new furniture, and this was one of those times that I sorely missed IKEA, but I digress. I really wanted to furnish my new apartment with locally purchased items, so on a friend's recommendation I went right to Charlotte's website to look around. I soon discovered that while the selection is outstanding, every item listed says "call for price". I see what you're doing there, Charlotte! You just really wanted me to come and see things for myself. I ended up doing just that on a rainy Sunday afternoon. It was inevitable that I'd end up there at some point because of the building's history. For those unaware, Charlotte Furniture and Appliance is housed in the former Lake Theatre of yesteryear. I absolutely love old movie theaters and would go to them exclusively if I could (but once again, I digress). I think I spent more time staring at the ceiling and imagining the picture show than I actually spent looking at couches and sitting on them. Here's the thing: I had all this time to look at the ceiling because not one salesperson approached me until I had made two passes through the couches and flagged someone down to make sure I didn't miss anything. But once I got my assistance, I ended up with the most perfect couch for me. Good balance, perhaps? Here's the number one thing I'd recommend to anyone purchasing furniture or appliances: spring for delivery. You'll be glad you did. The delivery truck showed up when they said they would and before I knew it the couch was set up in my living room, desperately seeking someone to sit down for awhile. You can arrange an extremely specific delivery window and if you ask nicely, as I did, they will do their best to get to you on time. I've been shopping there for years and have been happy with their service and appliances. Recently bought furniture, a custom made couch, and have had a miserable experience . Literally sat on every couch in their showroom looking for firm support. The one we received is not at all like the showroom model. Upon delivery, I found it soft, not firm. The end cushions leaned laterally away from the center, towards the armrests. Contacted Charlotte and was told to rotate cushions. Problems persisted . Charlotte sent new cushions but those made no difference in firmness either. Charlotte then sent a repairman who turned the couch over and removed the fabric from the back and bottom. There was no filler to support or hold up cushions, just springs that are a mere 3/8 inch in diameter. Springs are not attached in front or side and why the end cushions slope outward towards the armrests. Repairman offered to add filler and install wider and better quality webbing for $85. In other words, to remake this couch to add firmness like the showroom model. He expected payment from me rather than he having to bill Charlotte for this service. This was a problem with a new couch not a worn old couch and was reported to Charlotte within a month of delivery. Charlotte refused to reimburse me for the $85 service call . They refused to replace the couch even though it was well within manufacture's warranty. I was told showroom couch is not sat on like home use. But this is a new couch and problems noted and reported shortly after delivery. My prior experience with Charlotte had been brand name appliances and never had an issue. But purchasing their custom made furniture has been an unacceptable disappointment read more

We purchased all of our kitchen appliances from Charlotte and they have been really awesome to work with. This includes needing to completely replace both the refrigerator and dishwasher while still under warranty. Both the sales personnel and the office support were awesome. However, this review is to rate the installer, Rob Greczyn. We would only give him 3 stars. Three years ago he installed our Fisher-Paykel dishwasher. Rob broke the kick panel during installation and just had a new one sent for us to install. Our "elder" knees don't make this possible, so we did without any panel closing it to the floor. The dishwasher died prematurely, and we replaced it with a new Cove dishwasher. Note that both of these are premium brands. Rob installed a plain black metal kick panel, then left a pile of cardboard and packing at the curb for us to dispose. As we sorted through the packing and brackets, we found a NEW STAINLESS KICK PANEL that Rob just threw out! Not sure why it seems the panel is not important to his installation, but it is to us! The panel just slips over the black metal and attaches with a strip of tape, so we managed to install it ourselves. Love the products, but will look for other installers in the future! read more

Great in-store experience. We worked with Vick to get a new fridge when ours died. We luckily hit some good sale prices, and were walked through the pros and cons of multiple brands and models. They have a very wide range available, including floor models. Free delivery in the area, too! (Although, due to the sale, the delivery schedule was packed and we just moved the fridge ourselves). Our kids were running around and being pretty loud, and no one complained - just said how cute they were! FYI, there is a parking lot available behind the store and also street spots in front of the store. read more

Unhappy with the customer service. Bought GE stackable washer/dryer. Start button failed after two uses. Charlotte's response is that I must go through manufacturer's protocols to get contracted repair tech. Had to wait more than a week for the appointment. On day of appointment, repair service called. The tech tested positive for COVID. I have to wait another week to get tech to come to address issue. Called Charlotte to say they have an unhappy customer. No return call yet from Charlotte on how they will make this right. Washer was less than a week old and I've now gone two weeks without being able to use it. When the manufacturer protocol fails, the retailer should step in and make the situation right. Bring a new machine and then the retailer should deal with the repair on its own time. Don't make me adjust my schedule twice. read more

I walked into Charlotte Furniture on a Tuesday and had a new washer installed by Saturday. The salesman Tom was thorough and def not pushy. The price beat Best Buy's price and included the hoses, delivery, installation, and haul away. Would def recommend to anyone appliance shopping and will def be back myself. read more

Charlotte Appliance has been one of the absolute worst experiences as far as furniture and appliances I could've ever imagined having. I have purchased from them in the last 6 months a washer and a dryer, and a two piece couch. The couch took 7 months to be made...(I understand this is not their fault and do not blame them for the time delay). However, I ordered 4 floral pillows, and 2 solid pillows...when I picked up the couch I received 6 floral pillows and was told I'd have to pay $150 for the 2 solid pillows because there was no record of them on the work order. I was told to go to a discount wholesale store (at home, big lots,etc) to buy the two solid pillows if I had a problem with paying for the two pillows that I had ALREADY ORDERED AND PAID FOR that they had gotten wrong on the order form?!?! Fast forward to the purchase of a washer and dryer.....I purchased a set and had them delivered. I was told by the delivery people that they were hooked up and ready to use. I attempted to use the washer and I got an error message that there was no water supply hooked up. I called Charlotte and they had a manager (Kevin) come out to check out the issue. Turns out it was never hooked up to begin with. He apologized and hooked the appliances up. A few days later I started to dry some clothes....there was such bad condensation in the room that I had to literally wipe the walls with a towel to get the water off. I then started getting an error message that the dryer said to "Check vent, clean lint screen or vent system for better performance." I called maytag...was told that if it was actually a dryer duct issue that they would have to charge...and would charge a lot to come out to clean it. I had a 3rd party come out, they cleaned my entire dryer vent run for $250, and still I got the same error message. I had ANOTHER guy come out to diagnose the issue....he checked the connection to the dryer and found that the hose clamp was not even close to being right, and the duct had a HUGE rip inside of it! This was a manager that had installed it and did not mention that he had ripped the duct...not to mention did not know how to fasten a hose clamp. Long story short ... I had been unable to dry my clothes for an entire month and a half since the dryer was first delivered....completely unacceptable service. Called Charlotte and was told they could give me a $50 gift card for the inconvenience.... This does not even begin to cover the expenses that I have put out for these new appliances to work the way they were supposed to. Ridiculous service. I will make it a point to deter ANYONE from even thinking about purchasing even the tiniest item from here. GO TO LOWES OR HOME DEPOT....at least they back their products . read more

Very disappointed we ordered a chair for my mom who is 93. They told us 5 weeks took our full payment never mentioned that they are behind. My mom's chair was suppose to be here eng of August beginning of September, we are still waiting now they say November they have no clue. Rude on the phone....we wanted out money back so we can go else where and they said they would take 25% of that. This is bull s___! We were never told anything about a delay when the purchase was made they took my mother's money and have had it all this time but we have no chair. Their cust service is well below par, they are all smiles when taking your money however, if a problem arises they do not want to know you. I have distanced many people away from them because I was trying to save them all the trouble of dealing with such a terrible company. Let me start of by saying we spent a lot of money with Charlotte. We ordered a full set of appliances and furniture. We ordered our appliances back last December. When it was time for delivery our wall oven apparently came in damaged (I believe it was sold for a higher price as we have no proof of such damage but another was ordered. And due to covid it was back ordered for several months. Our sales rep George told us if we find another one faster to order it. So we went to Best Buy in hopes to get it faster. Best Buy cancels our order so back to Charlotte we went to see if we can just wait it out. Well this time we were going to have to pay hundreds more for the same oven. They would not honor the price we originally paid for it. So we agreed to pay it up front as we needed the oven and again we had to wait months. Now months later we get a call the oven is discontinued and if we want a wall oven we have to buy the upgraded model hundreds more. AGAIN. They offered to do nothing AGAIN. I can understand what's going on with covid but this is the 3rd time we dealt with this and nothing was even offered to help compensate. Will never recommend them. Save the pain and go somewhere else. They said they have done this to many other customers. Not willing to do anything to help. So disappointed. Terrible way run a business. read more

My Journey with Charlotte started about 5 years ago. We were looking for a living room set. We found a couch and chair that we liked at the Ashley Homestore. I went to Charlotte knowing they carried Ashley furniture. They didn't have it in their show room. But the Sales rep was able to locate it at their warehouse and saves us $500 off of what Ashley's Sale price was. This year we moved and decided to get a new set, and move the old set into the family room. We looked all over again and ended up at a preferred customer sale at Charlotte and bought a couch, chair and dinning set for a great price. When I started the Kitchen remodel a few months after, I needed to find a counter depth refrigerator. We found what we liked at Lowes and went back to Charlotte, they not only matched it but it was free delivery. There also happened to be a $50 rebate on top of that. I went back when my kitchen was more complete and purchased a dishwasher. This last week they had another Preferred customer sale and I scored a backless gas range for $1100, something no other store in the area would offer that low. So don't be afraid to ask them to price match or if they can do better on the price. They work with you :) read more

Great store. We have done well here buying all our kitchen appliances when we bought our house, master bedroom set, and living room set. The sales people are patient and helpful. Sometimes they can be a pinch pushy but not too bad. You can tell despite they want the sale they want their customers to be happy. For example when the little feet fell off the grills on our stove I emailed the sales guy and he mailed us a kit to fix it (common problem). Great support! Best prices in town for "quality" furniture. Not junk. I would say this store and Dunns Furniture in Brockport are the best furniture stores in town. read more

I'm giving them one star because their prices are decent. We purchased almost $8000 of appliances for a reno and were told that our price included full installation of our fridge and stove, and that the other 4 appliances would be "put in place". Three of those four required only to be pushed into the counter slots and plugged in. The delivery guys would not even do that. In fact, they were not even going to unbox those items until I told them I wasn't signing off until I made sure there were no scratches and dents. The stove comes with a bracket that needs to be mounted to the wall so that it can never tip over and is REQUIRED or your warranty is voided. However, we were told that they "don't do that either". So the bracket is currently sitting on the stovetop and will have to be put in by me or the builder. They also would not install the water line from the fridge to the wall, even though it was ready for hookup. "We aren't plumbers" was the response. Tit for tat, a few comments back and forth and they stated to me and my builder that they hear complaints all day long from people who have been told one thing by the salesmen and then are surprised with the actual lack of service provided. These installers have repeatedly complained to Sales and Management about this disconnect in communication (their words), to no avail. We won't be buying from them again. So much for trying to support the local guys. read more

My mom bought a new oven there and range hood. They did not have range hood in stock, so it was delivered a few weeks later. I went to install it and it was one that needed to be vented outside. mom called the salesman (George) and explained situation. He told her she need to order an indoor circulation kit for it. I could hear what he was saying because she had phone on speaker . He was very condescending and lied and said he told her that when she bought it. I took the phone and said I be returning to the store tonight. Then he wanted to know if the box was opened. how else would I know its the wrong one. I or the family will never shop there again. To many other choices in town. Previously I price a stove for myself there and found it at best buy for $100 less. read more

We are firm believers in shopping local whenever possible. When we needed a new refrigerator for out new condo in the city, we turned to Charlotte Appliance instead of big box sellers (Home Depot, Lowes) and national chains (Sears). Our prior experiences with Charlotte had been generally good but didn't require installation. Going to them this time has proven to be a disastrous mistake. While the sales department at Charlotte was quite helpful to the point of the sale (they disappeared after with no follow-up), the install and our life with our new highly rated Frigidaire refrigerator has been horrid. While the install team was on time, and seemed to do a decent job, closer examination says otherwise. The doors, which they had to reverse on site, have been misaligned from day one. The freezer has repeatedly frosted over, prompting two calls to Frigidaire and two independent service visits. The first technician pointed out that the freezer seal was not properly installed. The second technician(from a different appliance service company) removed the seal, attempted to realign the freezer door and properly balance the machine, and noted that the protective plastic had not been fully removed from the door. It still frosts over (as have we) and it is now our hope that this is just a lemon, compounded by the rather poor installation by Charlotte. And don't try to call Charlotte if you don't have your salesman's name, their phone system makes it difficult to get any assistance, not a place you want to be. We may shop local in the future, but not at Charlotte Appliance. read more

Been buying appliances and beds from Charlotte for 15 years. Never again after $2,600 on a defective washer/dryer set that flooded my basement. As other commenters have noted they're very responsive with making a sale but the tone changes if a problem arises. I am returning the set, which they are replacing with the brand I originally wanted at a modest discount -- only agreeing to the discount after I threw a fit. Customer service rep tells me my issue is with Frigidaire, the manufacturer of the washer that they are retrieving. I tend to think it's their issue with Frigidaire. I left a message with the store owner thinking that he would care but he never called back. Now dealing with a homeowners claim as after two days of trying to sop up the carpet, which is worth $1k or more, it smells awful. This has consumed my week. I had intended to buy an oven at Charlotte in the next couple of years but don't want to worry about my house burning down with whatever they might send. read more

Our experience with Charlotte was very disappointing. We chose to purchase a stove, hood, fridge, and microwave, as well as a leather sectional and recliner. The furniture was beautiful, however, the appliances were awful. We did not 'save' any money, rather we felt we spent the same if not more than other appliance stores (though we bought several appliance the same day from Charlotte) and the appliance have been of poor quality and performance. The service for our two service calls days after the purchase were awful. The men sent to take care of the problem were not qualified, asking me for tools and equipment to finish the job. Again, not impressive. They left all of the trash, boxes, and packing from all of our purchases in our garage for us to throw away, which was unbelievable considering trash companies charge US to take away the large amount of trash left behind. The fridge door is not working properly and never has, after two service calls. They did not include the kit to switch the door handle and tried to charge us for the kit and service call when we asked the floor salesperson when we could have it delivered. The stocking department was kind enough to skip the fee. Overall, do not bother making the drive. Service after the delivery and the best price should be priority when making big purchases that the family needs on a daily basis. We learned the hard way. read more
