1 story motel w 1 step to get in. Convenient location near Burney Falls and Lassen. Walking distance to some restaurants and Grocery Outlet. We appreciated that our room was cool in temperature upon checking in even when it was a warm day but perhaps it was because I told them when I would check in. We stayed in the 2 bedroom (king, 2 twin beds) unit. It was fairly quiet except that you can hear the occasional shower/toilet usage from the neighbors. Clean unit. Burney Motel was cozy, clean, and pretty affordable compared to all the other hotels I booked on this road trip. It's in a great location too... close to Burney Falls. We booked it for the part of our road trip from Lassen to Shasta area. Also, there's a Grocery Outlet, Subway, and some other mom and pop restaurants, most open till 9pm. Definitely 5 stars for this place! First off, very friendly staff and probably one of the most cleanest places we have stayed!!! It smelt so clean and everyday they did a excellent job at replacing towels and cleaning up! We stayed in a double room which was perfect for us and our teenagers! They did get a little warm in their room as the AC didn't make it all the way in there so maybe bring a fan??? We were nice and cool tho! The hot water was amazing! Still going strong after 3 people showered! Location was great for burney falls as well as Lassen volcanic state park! Lots of good eats around there! Conveniently located next to grocery stores and coffee places! The wall art is super cute inside and there is a mini fridge with a freezer and a nice tv on the wall! Our experience was great. We had a party of 4. I looked for rooms with double beds beds in the area. All only had 1 bed availability. Mt Shasta had a double bed room available for $110, it would be an extra 40 mi drive. If we got just 1 bed we'd need to air up an air mattress for the other pair. We agreed that was better than the drive. When we arrived at around 10pm, a nice gentleman was at the desk. He couldn't find my reservation, & called the manager. Though the room the system had for availability was already given, he put us in another. I was just glad he still had a room! We got to the room, opened it, & it had another room with another bed in it as well. Seemed like a nice surprise. Until the next morning. My husband left the door open to go grab something from the vehicle, & who we later figured out was the manager Luann popped in. The first thing she said was, "You unlocked that other door! That door was locked! Did you unlock it?" I told her no, it was open wide when we came in last night. Luann gruffly, meanly said, "Then you need to make it right & pay the difference for the 2nd room, it would have been $169, you only paid $96!" I told her I feel like that was asking to pay for their mistake. "You have 4, you should have booked 4!" I explained to her that if a room says it only sleeps 2, you can only book 2, yet she wasn't listening. She kept insisting that I should pay the difference. If she was nicer in her approach, I may have been inclined to pay a little, yet she was really mean. read more

Before anything else, I would like to start by saying that the low scores you'll see down below are reviews about the former owners, not the current ones! Now that I've said that...we were pleasantly surprised at how clean the rooms were and at how nice and accommodating the owner was. This is the only (or one of the few) motels/hotels in the area that are open until midnight (the rest close their front desks at 10pm). When I called to reserve a room a few days before, I told the owner that we won't be arriving until around 10:30pm, but due to unexpected circumstances, we arrived close to midnight. We called to let her know about the delay and she was very nice about it. When we arrived, she happily and courteously greeted us and went through the transaction very quickly. The next morning, though the waterfall is only 15 minutes away from the motel, we left really early to go to the falls to avoid the crowd. We thought that we would be on our way after visiting the falls so we returned our room key already that morning. After visiting the falls, we desperately needed to use a bathroom and took a chance to ask the owner if we could get our key back since we still had a few hours left before check-out time. She happily gave us the key back. She's been so wonderful to us. As far as the establishment, the outside doesn't reflect what's on the inside of the rooms. Whatever the motel is lacking on curb appeal, it compensated for it with the room and the way the owner treated us very well. Our room and the bathroom were very clean. For the price, this was a very nice stay for us. We immediately recommended this motel to our friends and family whenever they would decide to visit the waterfalls. Horrible! I would give them zero stars if I could. I'm posting to Trip Advisor as well because I'm so upset over how we were treated by the owner and his nasty wife. First warning sign, there's signs posted all over the property stating there's security cameras everywhere... I believe it. Seems like the owner and his wife watch the guests constantly, I wouldn't be surprised if they have cameras in the rooms. They use any excuse to knock on your door to spy on you! It's harassment! They tell you how to park, how to shower, when and how to use the lights in your room. Felt like I was in jail... like they should be paying the guests to stay there. We had enough when they revoked their "dog friendly" attitude. We were traveling with two SERVICE dogs, yet according to the owner, we deceived him in having the dogs. We checked out early, paid in advance for two nights and only stayed for one. That's how upset we were over how they handled the situation. They aggressively knocked and yelled at us for the dog barking (well, you pounded on the door, what did you think the dog was going to do?) and yelled for the dog being on the bed. Remind me how your motel is dog friendly again?!? Owner called me in my room to ask me to come to the front desk. Like I am a child needing to be scolded. It makes me irate just thinking about it. These people are rude, unprofessional and horrible hosts. Motel is NOT dog friendly. They're not even human friendly! Stay at any other motel but this one - there's plenty of other choices in the area. read more

The Burney Motel is a good place to stay in Burney. The room was very clean, and the carpet appeared new or extremely well maintained. The room was pretty basic, but it had most of the amenities you typically find in large chains. It had a TV mounted on the wall in front of the bed, a desk and chair, an arm chair for reading, and a queen size bed. It also had a closet, luggage rack, coffee maker with coffees and cream/sugar/stirrers, microwave oven, small fridge, clock radio/alarm, reading lamps on night stands, plugs for chargers on the base of the lamps, and some wall art. The air conditioner was mounted in the wall below the window. I wish the window curtains would have something to hold them back so we could let some light into the room. There were two picnic tables with benches on the property, as well as a couple of chairs to sit outside under the tree. Each room also had a plastic chair outside the door. They ask you to pay in advance. Check out was quick and easy. The proprietors were pleasant and polite. read more

We stayed in the last room in the end (Room 10). The room itself was ok and comfortable. The beds were somewhat too soft, but comfortable enough to fall asleep. However, my complaint was the bbq area outside. They have a bbq pit, but the lawn was not mowed. One night, we tried to barbeque. The sun had gone down, and we had planned to have a nice picnic, throw horse shoes and enjoy the nice weather outside. But, we couldnt handle the mosquitoes and bugs that were attacking us. Im sure it had a lot to do of the grass not being cut. Also, the picnic table had a lot of bird crap, which we had to clean ourselves before placing a table cloth on top of it. In addition, I couldnt open the window in the bedroom, because there was a hole in the screen. So, we kept the air conditioner on most of the night and day (which sometimes made it too cold)... Futhermore, they had a cheap dresser in the bedroom. Everytime I tried to open each drawer, it would fall off the hinges. It was very frustrating trying to pull the drawers out. I was better off keeping my clothes in my suitcase. It is conveniently located across the street from Rite Aid, a diner, and next door to a bowling alley. The room is clean. The kitchen is stocked with glass plates and cups. The refirgerator was clean. This is an ok place to stay since there aren't a lot of choices in Burney... read more

I stayed here with my Grandpa for two nights during a weekend away. We arrived and the room was freezing! We turned on the heater, which was meager at best and took all day to heat the room to a manageable tempurature. In the meanwhile we ran over to the hunting good store and browsed for a while. The next morning we woke up again to a freezing room. The heater had switched to cold air during the night. I showered, which was decent except I am a taller person and shower head was only about five feet off the ground. Warm water was great. This motel has potential, but the heater is a significant problem. Decent stay for a few days, recommend this motel over the others in burney. read more

Nice little play to stay. Easy drive to Burney Falls and Lassen. Right on the main drag, but Burney is a wide spot in the road so everything is on the main drag. Market, drug store, and McDonalds withing walking distance. People there so nice and helpful, go out of their way to make you comfortable. Recent ownership change, all redone. Nothing luxurious, but if you want luxury you're in the wrong part of the state! Place is immaculate, decent bed, everything you need. Good A/C, very important in the summer. Picnic tables outside. A smaller version of the Burney Falls. And the shower head is made for a midget, it's so short that even I hit my head on it and I'm only 5'2"!! The bed and pillows are very soft. Too soft for me, but my husband loved it. The wi-fi was good, although at times we were getting the McDonalds free wi-fi stronger than the hotels, and that was coming from across the street! While in Burney Falls, we were looking for a place to stay. We started calling around to see what the rates were like. The first hotel we called was the Burney Motel. After speaking to Cathy we decided to call Green Gables where again, we spoke to Cathy not realizing it was the same one. Then we called the Charm Motel where I spoke with Cathy for the third time! This time I realized I was calling the same woman & when I told her that I just called she rudely replies: "yes you did". I explained that I was attempting to call the Charm Motel when she finally decided to tell me that they own all 3 hotels & that all the rates will be the same, in a very unfriendly tone. She could have told us that from the get go rather than make us jump through hoops & then treat us poorly when we called 3 times in a row. I refused to stay there & will never when I go there again. This past Labor Day I got a chance to stay at the Burney motel. The rooms were big with some having two rooms and some with a kitchen to fit an entire family. Microwave, coffee marker, fridge, And a flat screen TV in the room. A very comfy king size mattress that was perfect for me and my girl. Across the street was a subway and Blackberry diner were they serve mozzarella sticks and a Rite Aid for needs and ice cream. Pizza from Geppetos was a good choice recommend by the one of the nice ladies that works there. Staff is friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this place when visiting Burney. read more

My 20 year old son, 17 year old grandson and I stayed here on December 28th through the 30th. We live in Marysville and came up to have Christmas with our oldest son and his family, as well as celebrate our oldest granddaughter's 5th birthday. We were planning on coming up in our motor home, but since my husband was sick, the boys and I decided to drive up and rent a motel. Our son and his wife recommended the Burney Motel, as our son works with the owner's grandson. They put us in a room with a king bed in the main room, (which the boys shared), and another room with a queen bed in it; which is where I slept. I honestly slept better than I do at home! I often have insomnia, but I slept wonderful both nights that we stayed here! The beds were very comfortable, and the rooms were very clean! There is a little 4 cup coffeemaker in the room, along with pre-filtered coffee packets, but if you really like a good, strong cup of coffee, as I do, don't bother with making yourself any coffee, as even with using both packets of coffee, it tasted like colored water. However, the Blackberry Patch restaurant across the street has a decent cup of coffee, and their breakfast was wonderful as well! read more

We stayed at the Charm motel for 2 weeks for work. Nancy, the manager was great! She worked with my needs. I was given a tour of Charm and Green Gables to see what worked best for us and we chose Charm. The king room is spacious and worked for a longer term stay. It's an older facility, the norm for Burney, but clean. House keeping was very nice and accommodating to me being there all day long. It is a very adequate facility but not the Marriott or Ritz Carlton. That's why it gets 3 stars. read more

The owner of this hotel tries to lure you in by pretending to give you a "deal" and do you a "favor" with a discount but only until you realize his hospitality goes only so far. In reference to his pet policy, which he never showed me and admitted to never showing nor having me sign, is apparently ever changing because sites show his place as pet friendly, then he claims it's not and then he says well I have 1 room I let people with pets into. We had 1 small 4 lb Yorkie, a service dog and a German shepherd a service dog as well. Registered mind you. He agreed to let both dogs stay in the "pet friendly room." Check out was 11am at 9am his wife or mother knocked rudely on the door as I'm told and this is when the dog issue became an issue. They tried to get upset both dogs were still on site but we were paid through until 11! So he's a liar and he was just hurting for business made exceptions he didn't want to live with and then stole our money. We checked out a day early just to get out of there. We saw later reviews that said they watch you all the time on camera and we find this to be true. They are very invasive and offensive people. read more

Keep in mind that this is a motel, not a hotel, and it is in a town whose population is lower than its altitude. Most people stay one or two nights at most in Burney. The rooms are quite clean and have a hairdryer with a built-in night light that is a nice feature for a room at this price point. There is a microwave, small fridge with working freezer compartment, and a coffee maker. The owners have planted beautiful flowers out front. The walls are a bit thin and the shower head is a bit low, but the room is still a good value for the price. It's also next door to the only full bar in town open on Sundays (at the bowling alley) and is across the street from the Blackberry Patch Restaurant, a diner/café that serves excellent short order breakfasts and is also open for lunch and dinner. read more

MANAGEMENT SPIES ON YOU! Thought this place was pretty decent until I got a call from the lobby saying I lied to them about how many people were going to be occupying the room. I had one guest visit me while I was there and then got scolded for "lying to them." Didn't know that a grown adult has to tell the manager about who stops by to visit. They specifically told me how long my guest was here for and that I should have told them about it. CREEEEPY.... Also, wifi didn't work, they made me wait very long to check in and check out, and the lobby smells. I will definitely not be coming back to this stink hole. read more

Excellent modernized small old fashioned park in front of the door motel! Clean, comfortable beds, excellent shower & bathroom, with microwave and frig, ice available and excellent DirectTV reception. Good eating within easy walking distance. Used it for trips to Lassen, Burney Falls Park and McCloud Falls because within easy reach. My boyfriend and I stayed there while house hunting in Burney. The room was clean,quiet and the shower was most definitely NOT a water saver!! They are dog friendly which we appreciated, as we had to bring one of our very spoiled dogs with us. Like I said the room was clean and if an animal had an accident you would never know it. We stayed there for one night with our 3 kids. The place was clean, two rooms, two beds, pullout couch, full kitchen, bathroom, two TV's and free WiFi. Price was okay considering the size of the suite. Just be sure you read the rules by the front door and in the kitchen . I almost didn't read the kitchen rules which states they charge 50 dollars on your card if you leave a dirty kitchen. I think that for the price they should have full free housekeeping. I spent five days here in march. The new owner has only been here for a couple of months and he made me very welcome. The rooms were good value and always clean. The rooms had TV, fridge, microwave and even an alarm clock which they reset when I accidently pulled the plug on it. Next time I am in Burney I would choose to stay here again. read more

At the Burney Motel, we stayed in the larger suite with a kitchenette, Room #10. It surpassed expectations! The room was spacious, clean, well-stocked and very well-priced. It was the best deal I'd had in a very long time. The owners were genuinely friendly and gracious. They were very accommodating. Our son enjoyed the large back yard space which had shady trees, tables, seats and a horse shoe toss. It was the best place to stay as it was across from a Rite Aid and a nice restaurant and a short walk to Safeway. We truly appreciated our stay there and look forward to returning in the future. read more
