My deciding factor other than the speed was this company and it's employees are local (faster response to issues) and extremely knowledgeable (no 1st level reading from a set script before they pass you on to 2nd level to repeat the 1st steps). The price may be a little more for the install, but I haven't had to make a call one in the last three years of service. Being in the IT service industry I remote into customers systems using VPN from my wireless broadband service and haven't had any issues with connectivity or speed. SBC is now available at a much cheaper cost, but having used them prior to moving to Little Elm, I'm going to stick with what has been tried and proven to be reliable.

You get transferred. You repeat the same story to people who cannot fix it and will not take ownership. Support exists mainly to absorb your time and lower your expectations. By the time a tech shows up (if they show up), the cycle is already set: another temporary patch, another promise that this time it's really resolved, another price increase on the next statement. They have managed to charge more than competing providers while delivering less reliability and worse support. That is not a business model so much as a hostage situation with better branding. You stay because switching is a hassle and they know it. They stay in business because enough people eventually give up fighting.
