Installers want to run cable on the outside of your house like it's a cheap mobile home, they set a dish on a 9 month old roof and proceed to move it, twice, only to leave 1/4" lag bolt holes in your roof, forget about your warrant. The service itself is slow, pay for 8mb and get a solid 3mb speed. They're cheap, or cheaper than StarLink but with the lack of service and quality you get what you pay for. Unfortunately, this app does not allow zero stars. Please heed my advice - if you are looking for new internet service, keep looking. The service is expensive and unreliable. I work from home and with recent events, have kids schooling from home. Day to day we cannot depend on the service but are locked into a contract. They NEVER take responsibility for problems. I have over 28 years IT consulting and network services experience. I know how to troubleshoot networks... I have done it for a living. They will insist the problem is your router when, in fact, there is a 99.9% chance it's their hardware. They will waste your time making you reboot equipment and plug devices into their antenna. In the end, hours later it will mysteriously start working again... no changes on your end. These guys are the B team on a good day with the wind at their back. They WILL leave you compromised and in a lurch and some condescending rep will talk down to you then hang up. Seriously... you are better off with just about any other option. read more

15/2 package I want to start out by saying that the customer service employees have done everything in their power to help me, however, there isn't much that they can do. My bill was knocked down by $20 temporarily until the issues that my ENTIRE AREA is having but I'm still unpleased with how they are handling the situation. I started having issues early in 2017 in the evening since more people are home and there, naturally, is higher traffic on any internet service. However, this is when the ISP learned that they were starting to have congestion issues in my area. I quickly became used to the times I was able to do what I wanted on the internet and worked around it. Now in 2018, the congestion issues got worse at night to the point that I could not even watch a YouTube video on the lowest quality setting. Now that school is out there are congestion issues all day long. I started calling them about the issue at the start of June. They let me know that they were aware of the issues but the supervisors had no ETA on when the issue will be resolved. I called again today and I was told the same thing, no ETA. I've never experienced an issue this bad that someone has no sense of urgency to resolve. Entry level customer service is great, billing dropped my price because I keep calling them about this issue. read more

1st issue website had half off their highest priced package...they argued with me after they pulled it off the site on Monday. Second issue. Promptly at 5pm every night the internet slows down to the point I can't even listen to Pandora which is nothing to stream. Third issue. Called tech support waited on hold over 15 min then finally left a message. And guess what? They can't argue that as I used my cell phone and can show the length of the call. Had their service for almost 2 yrs(waiting for contract to be up). Constantly get 1-3mbps instead of the 15 im paying for. Not once in the 40 calls has anything had to be done on my end to fix the problem. After I call and wait 24hrs its magically back up and running at 15 but doesnt last long and i have to call again. $100 a month for crap internet. Should be refunding your customers if you cant hold up your end of the agreement read more

I moved into an apartment in Krum where this was the service there was. Fortunately, CenturyLink installed fiber and I quickly switched to them. I am only paying $8 more per month for internet that is far better and more reliable. I pay $65 for 1gbps max speed and only use wifi. That said, I consistently see speeds of 350-400mbps. Speed of Light has too many "magnetic storms", outages and just overall unreliability. If you are able to switch to ANY other provider then do it. SOL charged me $57 a month for 30mbps max, with speeds consistently 20-27mbps. And with outages and all that junk. read more

If your looking for a quality internet service, keep looking. Speed of Light offers it's customers a cornucopia of issues including multiple drops in service that is unexplainable by their support staff. Their advice is always reboot your router which has yet to fix the problem. A few hours later system is working again. I have also experienced multiple episodes of ridiculously slow download speeds despite the fact I pay extra for faster service. I use the internet to provide me with television programming and these drops and slow downs are extreamly annoying. I contacted the company about canceling their "service" but I was informed that I would have to pay a penalty since my contract had 7 more months. It's sad when companies like Speed of Light are allowed to bill for services they can only intermittently provide and then charge the end user a cancelation fee. read more

When I first moved to Little Elm at the end of 2002 there weren't any ISP providing service for our phase of Glen Cove. Had to wait another year and I contacted a few of the carriers that where starting to provide service, but Speed of Light Broadband still has the best service. My deciding factor other than the speed was this company and it's employees are local (faster response to issues) and extremely knowledgeable (no 1st level reading from a set script before they pass you on to 2nd level to repeat the 1st steps). The price may be a little more for the install, but I haven't had to make a call one in the last three years of service. Being in the IT service industry I remote into customers systems using VPN from my wireless broadband service and haven't had any issues with connectivity or speed. SBC is now available at a much cheaper cost, but having used them prior to moving to Little Elm, I'm going to stick with what has been tried and proven to be reliable. read more

I would give SOL zero stars if that could work. I've had their service for four and half years, several outages, slow to fix, horrible download speeds. Rise Broadband finally came into my area and I just changed to them. I cancelled my service the day before my next cycle started. Not only did they say that I won't get a refund for the month I've already paid for (they charge you 14 days prior for the next cycle), they also said that, since I didn't give them 30 days notice, there may be additional charges! ZERO STARS!!! We have lived in our new apartment for only 60 days and SOL/BOINGO is our internet service provider, and IT SUCKS!!! I used to have Xfinity and thought they were bad but BOINGO kicked their you know what when it comes to crappy service!! Only 60 days and constant issues with connectivity. This is the WORST internet service provider EVER! I actually called Xfinity tonight and tried to see if they offer service at the apartment complex and they advised no service since the construction company. SOL / BOINGO SUCKS!! We live just outside Prosper city limits and our choices in Internet are extremely limited. We have tried a number like Clear, Karma, Tmobile wireless internet, ATT and thought we would have to go satellite with Hughes which everyone says sucks and is EXPENSIVE. A neighbor told us about SOL broadband and after 6 months it has worked great. The one time it went out the tech was here the next day. Costs 64 a month which is the upgraded speed 15 mbps. We used a 100gb streaming between the whole family. Tremendous value! Thank you SOL read more
