I can't say enough positive things about Lala Babakhanian. From the first phone call I had with her, she's been nothing but kind and knowledgeable. I am a first time home buyer and she spent over 2 hours of her time explaining the home buying and lending process. When researching on what kind of lender you should get - they said the term "a heart of a teacher" and she is EXACTLY that. Compassionate, empathetic, compassionate, positive, and patient. The problem is not coming from the CHASE itself since I like this bank with all the great service is offering me,but unfortunately sometime, some a** wholes are doing things without banks knowledge and they think my business or working for CHASE Bank is some kind of a joke! I talk to this joker named Travis and I asked him if there is any Safe deposit box available and every time is he reapplied: I'm 100% sure there is non-available! I talked to another CHASE employee about 15 miles away from Glendale in LA and the manager of that location was a very kind lady and she helped me very much in this matter, she insured me there is not only 1, but many Safe deposit boxes are available in this Glendale location! When I called for the 3rd time and he said again-there is non-available! I walked in to the bank and talk to an other joker name Sarkis and again he said: Sorry there is no Safe box available!!! I called CHASE LA location and explain the manager what the Glendale location is telling me then she talked to them to see what the issue is? She called me back and she said just walk in and tell them I sent you and they are not allowed to hold a box and they must give you one, first-comes-first-serves. I walked in and talk to the manager of the branch, her name is Maryam, she said ~oh while you walked out someone just canceled a safe box so we have one available now! I've been making deposits at this bank for the past two months and both times I got rude tellers. For my first visit, I attached an excel strip of all my checks with my deposit so I wouldn't have to write it all down on the deposit slip. The teller threw it back at me then later realized that he needed to see an amount on my excel slip. For my second visit, Youssef looked nice at first then he started giving me attitude. It had to do with my excel strip again. He's like "No, I have to redo this". I'm like can I have the one I submitted back? I wanted to mark it up the way he had it. These people spend more time giving attitudes then spending time teaching the right way things need to be done. I wish I would give Chase a zero star. I had a very bad incident with them. So I open a joint savings account with my wife in chase bank, I deposit my first check with them and they hold it with reasons of verification. they had to find the source of the funds. They called my boss he spoke to them but they still held my check for a week now. I get frustrated I call them and what they did was unbelievable. They told me they had closed my account and I asked them why they said it's an executive decision and that they will mail my check in a week. A week past, two weeks now I haven't received my check I called them and they and they say they have just mailed it. I received the check 3days later. I go to cash it else where because it was over 1500 and chase dsnt cash checks over that amount if you have no account with them. So I try PLS CHECKING place and the lady at the teller called chase to verify the check before cashing it. And chase tells her the check is stolen because it was in two names (mine and my wife) and yet on their side it only shows one name (my wife). I was so frustrated.they made me pay interest on almost all my bills that month, I lost my car, I had a horrible experience with chase bank and I wouldn't recommend anyone to work with them. read more

Very slow in.service. I've been banking here for years and they wouldn't accept my deposit. They were giving me a hard time because it was a large amount in checks. Since when did ballistic glass become the norm at a financial institution? You'd think with all the laws prohibiting firearms these kinds of things would not be necessary in the golden state. Anyway, this is down the street from my office, so I come here fairly often to make a deposit or get some cash. Sometime the line is longer than others, but it seems to move fairly quickly. They always seem to have a nice supply of fresh $2 bills which is nice. It's a bank. They have tellers, three ATMs, and a nice customer service person who greets you when you walk in the door. I am new to the state and I've visited this local branch at least 5 times now. Twice I've gone inside to work with a teller. Everyone is friendly, they greet me upon entering, and they take as much time as necessary to get you what you need. Today's example: I needed small bills because I'm heading to Mexico and I always tip people even though I'm staying at an all inclusive. I thought I'd have to see a teller to accomplish this, but it turns out they have new ATMs inside that can give out ones. Yippee! I tried to be a big girl and do this on my own, but I screwed it up and ended up with 20s. I felt pretty dumb because I had been offered help when I came in and I said I could figure it out. FAIL! The teller or manager (she seemed managerial) was close by and asked me how it went. I showed her the twenties and admitted my mistake. She said no problem, I'll get your change for you. I recently started my business in Glendale and have started using this branch on Brand Blvd for my business needs. While I was in line, noticed that there was more coordination getting the line moving in a safe and socially distanced manner. After a few visits, I finally asked the kind but assertive and very helpful Chase employee her name. She told me her name was Ghadir - I had guessed she was the branch manner. No matter how long the line, the type of problem being addressed, she remains calm and gives each customer the attention that is deserved. Any business would be lucky to have someone with the level of customer and leadership ability she demonstrates from the time she starts her day to the very last moments when the bank closes. I had a personal account here for 6 years. I usually just use the ATM. I recently went to deposit my government check. The manager could not even be found for approval. Turns out he was out in his car in the parking lot making a personal phone call. When they found him and he came in, he was all hot and sweaty and angry I guess for being disturbed at work?!?? He said they would put a 7 day hold on it! Without even looking up the account number. Remember, groceries store cash these checks for free when you buy groceries. This is the worst Chase bank in Los Angeles. They are constantly understaffed and have at most 3 tellers open at any given time. Its a Friday and they have 2 tellers working and 12 people in line. Current Yelp Status: Duchess with 19 check ins. Location: This Chase is located right in the financial district of Glendale, on Brand Blvd. and right off of the 134 freeway, and is one of the tallest buildings in the area so it has great visibility, as well as street frontage directly on Brand Blvd, and entrances on two sides of the building. It can be a little tricky getting directly into the entrance on Brand during high traffic times, but it's an easy detour to turn from Doran to Maryland and enter leisurely from the street, as well as have access to additional parking options. This branch offers both open and limited covered parking for bank patrons. History: I have had checking and savings accounts with Chase since it was Washington Mutual and for probably over 20 years, as well as a Chase Sapphire credit card as of last year and as of today, a Chase mortgage. Up until now I haven't had any particularly strong opinion about Chase, but it was dependable, there were abundant locations, and they offered ATM's at CVS so making that occasional random withdrawal was always fairly simple. All of this changed however when I stopped by one day for a mortgage pre-approval at this branch to see what my budget could be for a new condo. And here is the crux of my review. This Chase has the unique and singular advantage of employing one of the best mortgage loan officers in the world, Lala B. I do not think it a hyperbole to call her the crown jewel of this branch. To adhere to the yelp word limits, I am forced into a frustrating brevity, but she is the greatest. From what I understand, she has had over 13 years of experience in the mortgage industry, and at some point worked as a loan processor, so she knows the ins and outs of the entire process. Not only did I get a straight forward pre-approval from her at the onset, but through the housing market of mid-late 2016, she provided a half dozen additional pre-approvals for what would be an eventual 7 offers made of which finally one was accepted in early 2017, and by then, I was so bowled over by her knowledge, professionalism, and competence, that even though I was able to get a slightly cheaper loan from a competing broker (which includes the rate and loan costs), I still went with her. Lala moves very quickly, and once you decide to lock-in the rate with her, she will immediately get things moving, and within I think a day I had an appraiser calling to get an appointment, and every step of the underwriting and processing she was there to request and obtain the necessary documents. I hadn't realized how much went into a loan but it's important to have a good rapport and atmosphere of trust with your lender, which Lala really was able to establish. Not only did she answer all of my many questions with thorough explanations, but she was with me at every step of the loan process, even choosing to be present at the final signing with the notary public in case I had any last-minute concerns. She also had a constant dialogue going with the escrow officer, listing agent, and my buying agent, so that all documents could be exchanged and processed seamlessly. Say what you will about the lack of drive-thru ATM's (can't be helped really), the introduction of automated tellers, etc. (it's the wave of the future), and an occasional lunch rush (not unique to this branch, I'm sure), but Lala brings this branch a welcome dose of hospitality, charm, and competence that is much appreciated, and that humanizes an otherwise potentially impersonal business transaction. read more

By far THE WORST bank ever! Usually, the tellers there are conceited and not so friendly, but today, it topped every other day.The teller, a young lady, calls out "I can help you over here!" That's the last (and the only) thing she said to me. I approached her ready to say "Hi" back to her, only to be faced with no eye contact, no greeting, no nothing. Not a single word. I was making a deposit, and she handled the whole process without a word. She made every effort not to make eye contact with me. When she was finished, she slipped me the receipt not making eye contact, and of course not saying a word. Does Chase have new policy desperately to avoid eye contact? No 'Thank you,' No 'Have a nice day,' No 'Is there anything else I can help you with?' From beginning to the end, she did not say a word to me. I seriously don't understand the positive reviews here. Every time I go in to this branch, I come out disgruntled. If it wasn't related to work, I would have no business with this bank. Today, I told my boss about my experience and suggested to him maybe it was time to switch bank. What kind of customer service training does Chase provide, if they even have such a thing. Maybe they focus on actually helping people other than just asking people if they needed help we can get something done. Went to cash a $150 check from a client and was charged $8 dollars! The teller was a nice guy - but Chase is almost as bad as B of A for their greed. I asked to talk to the manager who stalled just long enough that it wasn't worth my time. I chased the check. This used to be a great branch, but then they got rid of all tellers except 2 of them. Replacing tellers with atm machines may work in a more residential setting but it's horribly inefficient in a downtown business area. This one is on brand in Glendale, so the lines are now unbearably long. There are bank employees constantly asking you whether you have a bank card so they can pull you out of the line, but why not put them behind the teller Windows? I'm still left wondering why I give this bank my business. I came in here at 12:30 on a Thursday. Okay yah, it's lunch time, but does that mean its necessary to have three windows open only and three other windows closed with tellers there acting like they're counting money? It's frustrating when you have a 9 month old with you who thinks she's Miss Independent. Not all of us have the luxury of babysitters so we can run errands. So after my 20 min line wait a teller opens and I helped myself to her window. Much to my shock, she looked at me like I was nuts and said she was closed. Then a man whom I'll assume was the branch manager takes me at the other end of the room. He made the mistake of asking me how it was going. That's when I had to tell him that with all the B.S. charges they charge you'd think chase bank would have the money to hire more employees. His response was this: "if you would have come in 30 minutes ago you would have been in and out. I had a full staff this morning that I was paying to do nothing. " How was this even a professional answer? Let me tell you, Sir. I couldn't come in 30 minutes earlier because my child's schedule didn't allow it but thank you for letting me know that. Much like you don't care about the customers, I don't care that your bosses had to pay staff to do nothing. Perhaps take notes or pay attention to the fact that traffic flow tends to be less n the early morning and more people utilize the bank on their lunch hour. That's just my educated guess though. You all nickel and dime the little people and clearly you don't do anything to put that money to use. I don't know, to maybe have a full staff between the busy hours of noon to 2 pm. Worst bank I have walked in to there is practically no customer service. I wanted to simply order checks so I thought instead of doing it online let me go in since I am close and order at the branch. After standing in line I was told to sit on the couch and after 15 minutes of being there and not even acknowledged. There were 4 employees that were in one office laughing and have a time of their life while customers were waiting outside. Very dysfunctional branch and I was told one of the people in the office was actually the manager so no wonder this branch has a 2 star rating I will be closing my accounts and will be contacting corporate regarding this encounter. read more
