This branch is infuriating. To access a safe deposit box, you have to sign in to see a banker, same as anyone opening a new account or replacing a debit card. You will be waiting a minimum of one hour to be helped because the branch is chronically understaffed. I believe they let this happen because most of the clientele here are working class and and just accept this kind of treatment as the norm or choose not to speak up that it doesn't have to be this way. Even with three indoor banking machines, I've seen more than 20 people in teller lines. Its only saving grace is that bankers and tellers are patient and knowledgeable for the most part when you do finally get to see them. read more

The last time I was at this branch and older Indian women came pushing through the doors, bypassing everyone waiting and tried to push past the line and go to the front. When the employees nicely let her know she needed to wait in line she pretended to spit at one of them and tried to hit a woman with her cane. After her little outburst, I thought for sure they would be escorting her out. However, they only made her wait on the side for a few minutes and then allowed her to cut the line and go to a banker. If I tried to hit somebody with a cane, I would be arrested. The woman was extremely coherent. She was not handicap. She was just entitled. Allow allowing one customer to swing at employees and then stay with the rest of us is absolutely unacceptable. She had an outburst at me in the parking lot and pushed me to get past me inside the door and then assaulted an employee and they allowed her to stay. While LA can be a strange place, allowing a disgruntled and violent person to stay with the rest of us is extremely unprofessional and unacceptable. Extremely disappointing experience at the Hawthorne Chase branch. The woman at the window was rude and dismissive from the start. She made an unnecessary comment implying I never withdraw money from my account--even though there was a clear record of a withdrawal just two weeks prior. Then she took my valid California driver's license and demanded a second form of ID, which felt unnecessary and intrusive. All of this while sarcastically asking if I was "having a good day." I had the pleasure of visiting the Chase Hawthorne Branch what excellent customer service. My first visit I had an appointment with the bank manager, Nikki Samuels and while waiting in the customer waiting area was pleasantly greeted by several bank employees. Once I met Nikki I could tell she was a wonderful person and her staff had the same amazing presence. I enjoyed my meeting with Nikki who is not only polite and professional but also a positive light in a world often filled with darkness. A great personality and I can see her employers mirror that same glow. On my second visit, the same thing, positive and professional as well as just down to earth pleasant. Came here on Saturday around noon to open a couple of accounts. The place was dead. There were two tellers and two customer service reps. One of the customer service reps was helping a customer. Today I walked into this bank and was immediately profiled, ashley wilkins the teller was constantly giggling while supposedly verifying my check, I can hear her ask her manager if she should cash it or not then they both giggled (very unprofessional) and said that they would not cash my check despite it being legit, Instead of just returning it to me she even went as far as stamping it on purpose to cause further trouble. With any luck, you'll find that 2 out of their 5 ATM Machines are semi-functioning... and of course, don't have the courtesy to put up a sign to indicate what machines aren't working... so you may need to go hooping from one machine to the other to find the one that may perhaps, be enabled to process your transaction. By far the worst chase bank ever. I waited nearly three hours to see a banker. There wait times are unnecessarily long. No one acknowledges that people have been sitting, waiting for hours. I'm not sure if there short staffed at this location or what the problem is but this is a constant issue. Who has the time to sit in a bank for 3 hours just to speak with a banker.....seriously?? At least offer some type of apology or make it seem like your trying to help people....but just allowing people to sit in a waiting area that you KNOW have been waiting for a service for hours is highly unacceptable. I've got to say ... banks surely know how to make money off of you. For instance, you have a couple of transactions made into your account automatically and you have enough for one of those transactions. If the other transaction goes through then you'll be charged the overdraft charge. Now here's where they make their money. Let's say you have $60 in your account and one transaction is $99 and the other is $31. Both were pending the same day since they are being deducted from your account automatically from the vendors. Instead of taking out the $31 first since you have enough for that in your account, they take out the $99 transaction so both transactions are overdrawn. This happened to me a few times already and I do not appreciate the tellers telling me to call the 800 number when I could speak to one of their managers. Seriously, as soon as I can calm down and have the time to close my account then I will. Chase is just ridiculous. read more

I'm on their list but whether or not they are helping people on it is a mystery. One banker checked it once, "helped" them or turned them away, I'm not sure, it was quick... Then disappeared for 20min. Do not come inside if you need to take care of something. Just go to another branch. Severely understaffed and long lines. Employees that don't have any answers. They just installed a multitude of NEW atm's that can do $3,000 or $30,000 per transaction. I'm not sure about that number, so don't quote me on it. But it's some sort large number that's suppose to take the load off of tellers. Unfortunately, most people are afraid of change...so they still line up..smh. I was told that they were taking away the business window. I don't agree with this but with these new ATM's, I can understand why they would do this. Regular customers with deposits and withdrawals should use these new machines while larger, more complicated transactions should be done at the window...too bad people won't do this. The customer service is nice. Nothing special or nothing bad. Just the service you would expect at a bank. The lobby and location are great as well. Next to other banks on a fairly new and populated street with other business around so you can get multiple errands done and pick up some food along the way. The parking is small. And there is a hidden lot behind this place. If you're lucky enough to get street parking in the newly redone street, then get that! It's a bit crowded and difficult at times to get in and out of their small lot on the side. I had a great experience with banker Jeff he's really professional and I really liked the way he handled opening my new account I waited about 30 mins w/o appoint there is a long wait time due to short staff but I don't believe that's the employees fault if anything it's corporate or management. She turned us away from an appointment (I won't get into the details) because apparently, you make an appointment to make an appointment to then make another appointment. Basically wasted our time and gas. Upon calling a different chase, they stated they do not do such practice and assisted me promptly with opening a mutual account. Who hires these people? Also calling corporate and the BBB to report not only her, but this chase location. I have never met a "professional" with such a lackadaisical perspective on service, and simply helping a customer. One star for being open. (Closest notary needed in emergency. I'll plan better In the future). Arrived at 9:05. Asked employee for NOTARY. Advised notary "might be in at 9:30." I wait. And wait. And wait. Finally seen at 10:05. Transaction took 5 minutes! Why does a Bank open at 9:00, but leaves customers waiting 30 minutes before the first one is seen for transactions other than teller window. Rep advised to go to a branch and provide my marriage certificate with ID ... on Sat afraid of not having a appointment i got there at 8:30 am was the first in line.. They opened up at 9:02 am immediately was helped by a rep.. she changed my last name quickly and ordered me a new card. I would never bank with chase again! I had gotten a insurance settlement check for almost $6000 and the next thing I know chase is trying close my account all because they didn't have the phone number to verify my check. I try to give them a number to the law firm of which who had provided me the check just so they can verify and they said no. I even went to as far to tell chase to go to the website to get the number & once again told me no. This check was from a car crash, and was very needed to pay my rent and chase just trying to close my account for no reason. I had been with chase for about 7 year's and they treat their customers like this ? I have school clothes to buy food to put in my house for my kids car note to pay and chase had blocked my account and told me to tell my attorney to recall the check all because they had no number to call. My attorney law firm had even called chase and told them " that they can not call to verify the check & my attorney try to give them the phone number to call & chase just hung up in my attorney face. Now, I'm waiting for my attorney to recall the check and to give me another check all because of chase. Chase didn't even want to call the bank of the check that it came from to verify my check. Now, I'm here with no money waiting for another check to be issued. Chase trying act like my check is a bad check which make me feel some kind of way. Avoid this branch at all cost. They have 4 machines inside to assist but only 1-2 tellers with a line that consistently reaches the door. Management doesn't ask we need any help. The personal bankers put their head down as they walk by us to avoid question. Try calling the bank and see if you can get through. The GM here must be incompetent or unaware, and do you really want somebody like that to handle your money ? The line only moves because people in front end up walking out.
