Opinion, a disgusting and thuggish way to conduct business - but as long as they get money they don't care. Recommend AMEX for cards, Santander for other banking services. These guys are greasy.

I recently had a horrible experience with this bank over their handling of a fraud claim. The bank…read moreforced me to pay back $3,480 that a cyber criminal stole largely due to their lack of security to prevent fraudulent Zelle transfers. They also prevented me from filing a police report by refusing to provide me with an affidavit of dispute. To make matters worse, they initially lied to me about whether they were going to cover the loss. All my interactions with their fraud unit were extremely unpleasant, and they treated me like a criminal rather than a crime victim. My wife and I are in the process of terminating our relationship with this bank. After speaking to the Associate Director of the Consumer Services Unit of the NYDFS, I filed a formal complaint against this bank with the CFPB, their federal regulator. In response to my complaint, the bank accused me of lying about the fraud and refused to provide me with an affidavit of dispute. Therefore, I was prevented from filing a police report with the NYPD. To protect yourself from fraud, I suggest that you do the following: 1. If you have a checking or savings account with Bank of America, close it ASAP. If fraud occurs in your account, the bank will do nothing to assist you. 2. If you have to perform a credit card transaction, make sure to use a card that isn't linked to a checking or savings account. This will protect you from fraudulent cash advance transactions. 3. Never allow another person to look up or dial a phone number for you. Always verify the authenticity of any phone number you call.

As I opened the account the employee was informative and guided me to the best options of what to open. I only come here to deposit; therefore, my review is based on my experiences of simply depositing. Every time I've come here the wait time has been over 10-15 minutes. So here's my current experience: I pull up to the drive-thru at 12:28. I had no cars in front of me as I was the only person at the window. The teller was assisting a customer and finally attends me at 12:36. Maybe if I would of went inside the process would of been quicker? All I was doing was making 2 transactions of which were both less then 100$ total. Yet, the teller seemed to have been alone. Having a worker just for drive-thru is something I would recommend to move the process a bit quicker. In conclusion, by 12:46 the teller had finally given me my stuff. It had taken 18 mins for this experience. In 18 mins I could have went to another bank a town away, been seen and back home. Hopefully my next time there I could have a different outlook with my experience.

Their free checking has no hidden fees or requirements and it truly is free, you do not have to have a monthly direct deposit or minimum balance. They have a mobile banking app that allows you to make transfers and deposit checks just like all the big name banks do. They also now have a broader range of surcharge free ATM's even those of stores like CVS, 711, Costco..etc. so no need to go to a Bethpage branch ATM to make a simple withdrawal. So far I have been happy with the credit union and I'm glad I switched and am no longer supporting the big banks. This particular location is the one I use the most and so far everyone has been super nice here. When I joined I also received $50.00 for bringing in my old debit card and since I wanted to close my old account after I opened this one the girl who helped me was nice enough to let me come back a few days later and get the $50.00 for turning in the card.
