She saw we had quarters that were wrapped and counted for them nicely organized and she tried turning us away because she didn't want to "count them" is that the job of a bank teller? To count? Integrity. This specific location have staff who lacks integrity. How do you expect customers to trust a financial institution if the staff themselves lack integrity? My dad is a senior citizen and is hard of hearing. He has a sticker with his name, address, and home phone number with the following message: IF FOUND, PLEASE CONTACT ME. He misplaced his cell phone on Friday, July 28, 2023. He used the house phone to call me during my lunch break freaking out. I asked him where he went and he told me he went to this specific bank that morning. He said he called this specific branch after discovering his cell phone was missing when he got home but was informed it wasn't there. I logged into his FIND DEVICE app with my cellphone and the app indicated that it was at this location. I told him to drive back to this bank and check the parking lot since he suspects he may have dropped it when entering his car. As he drove to this location, I sounded the alarm button. From the app, I was able to see that the alarm button would sound, but it would be turned off in less than 30 seconds. The alarm will sound continuously for 5 minutes unless it's turned off manually. Realizing that someone must have picked up the phone and turned off the alarm manually, I locked the device and wrote a message for the finder to please call me back. When my dad got there, he used my mom's cell phone to call me and tell me to sound the alarm. Again, I turned the alarm on and someone would manually turn off the alarm sound in less than 30 seconds. I kept turning on the alarm and it would be turned off in less than 10 seconds. I asked them both to see if they heard the alarm and they both said no. I decided to call his cellphone. His cellphone would ring and no one answered. I sounded the alarm again and someone manually turned it off again in less than 10 seconds. What this means is that whoever has his cellphone is purposely ignoring my dad's calls, the IF LOST, PLEASE CONTACT sticker with his information on the back of his phone, the message on the lock screen to call me, and purposely turning off the alarm sound. So I told him to go inside the bank and ask for his phone back since I know someone has it and turning off the alarm on purpose. He went inside the bank, asked for his phone, and a lady brought it out. He called me and told me he finally got his phone back. What this tells me is that whoever picked up his phone lacks integrity and empathy. For a senior citizen who is hard of hearing to call and ask to see if anyone had picked up his cellphone only to be lied to is very sad. This individual doesn't seem to have a a conscious since they purposely ignored the sticker on the back of the cellphone, the message on the lock screen, the missed calls, turning off the alarm manually, and lying to a senior citizen who is also a customer of this financial institution is a joke! read more

This review is long overdue -- Albert Magat has been so helpful to me over the years that I followed him to this branch when he moved locations. I've received exceptional customer service when I needed to make changes to my bank account. There was another helpful account manager who helped me out when Albert was out sick, but I can't remember his name. I wanted to do was use the ATM. I want to pay that one is it's in the far corner on the street where there's no parking or any place to pull over. So I had to pull around to the parking lot and since it was raining I did a walking through the bank. I got a lot of awkward stares at people watched me struggle through. I wish there was an ATM inside the bank that I could a used instead of having to walk back outside in the rain and around the corner. I have got some more strange looks after I use the ATM and walked back through the bank to the back parking lot. It felt pretty odd and uncomfortable. ATMs are for convenience so I can figure that there would be an ATM closer to the parking lot or the backside the bank is what was in the front of the bank. And also inside the bank. Elitist and very snobbish atmosphere. It made me uncomfortable banking at this location, I went there for one purpose. The brief transaction took a few short minutes but the environment made me feel uncomfortable. I had a feeling they were sizing me up and discriminating against me based on my appearance. It might have also been the other clients looking me up and down as if I didn't belong there. I felt like they serve an exclusive type of clientele. (Banked 09/12/16 M @ 11:30am, many times before, and definitely more after): You couldn't chase me away from this branch; the service is too good! I've been a legacy banker first with Home Savings & Loans, then Washington Mutual, and currently Chase Bank all at this La Canada Flintridge location. Yes, I still favored the time-honored tradition of personal interaction - especially as it dealt with money - although there were several "convenient" options outside of the brick-and-mortar. As "the times they are a-changin'", would I follow the path of the banking majority in the near future and go solely to ATM and online!?: Although they offered the usual plethora of financial services, I personally did simple banking with them (i.e. checking, savings, cashed, deposited, withdrew). Unfortunately, as with all banks, the horrible fees and minimum balances we've all grown to hate were prevalent. Their loan rates were competitive, and they offered safe deposit boxes which for some reason credit unions didn't. As for location, this was conveniently located to where I grew up and still had family in the area which made it easy to check in on them. Service - Regular tellers Adam and Maria, as well as a handful of others have been nothing short of excellent during my times dealing with them. The fact that most of the staff acknowledged, knew, and recognized me whenever I entered the branch was a HUGE plus! Even when my accounts were recently compromised, the staff was diligent to set me up with new ones and took all the necessary steps so I was ready to use them immediately. Any wait in line was usually kept to a minimum even when only a couple teller windows were open. Hands down, it was their service throughout the years up to now that continued to keep me as a longtime in-branch customer. Praises to everyone! Parking (Free) - A medium-sized parking lot without any need for street parking (although available along the main drag of Foothill Blvd.); 'nuff said! Atmosphere, décor, ambience - A medium-sized, well-lit (natural through slightly tinted glass windows and electric from the ceiling) floorplan that had a large lobby entrance, a small waiting area, several open desks for customers to discuss their financial needs in more detail, approximately five teller stations, and a little corner for a quick drink of water (there usually was a candy bowl filled with lollipops!). A clean business facility with the usual promotional posters, signage, and a set of large monitors behind the teller counter advertised great offers and services. The place looked very professional...as it should. There were no TVs or background music. Frankly...a no-nonsense no-frills location. Attire - Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. Overall, the Chase Bank La Canada Flintridge location has always felt like another home to me with friendly and welcoming staff. Truth be told, I fancied more the way credit unions did business compared to banks. But as a pure loyalist to a fault, I've maintained my financial umbilical cord to this branch in particular because they have always treated me right. Sure, there certainly were services I didn't agree with so I've managed to skirt away from those, but the customer interaction has always been impeccable which was the most important to me. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (I couldn't emphasize customer service enough!). This branch is great. The staff is friendly and the location is beautiful. While there is minimal street parking there is a large parking lot hidden in the back. My one complaint is that I had to go through the whole branch to get to the ATMs that are located outside in the front! Once outside, I was able to collect my cheddar. I have been a customer since this was Home Savings, then Washington Mutual, and ultimately, Chase. I have been disappointed for sometime, but hoped they would get it together. I took most of my funds to City National, thinking if Chase improved, I would split my money between the two. The attitude of management and those sitting at the lobby desks is dismissive and condescending. For approximately fifteen years, my Mercury insurance payment has been automatically deducted from the same account. On July 2, I noticed the payment was not showing when I checked my account online. I went to the bank in person, and the teller told me to "give it a couple of days, it would probably post." It ALWAYS posts on the same day of the month, so I knew something was wrong. After a week of it not posting, Mercury received notice from Chase that they could not locate such an account! Mercury and my agent verified with me the routing and account numbers I had used for the last fifteen years. So, I went back to Chase. The manager brushed me off to the rudest person I have ever encountered in a place of business. And that manager continued to just walk around, so he wasn't working with someone else or on a call. That person totally blamed Mercury, and refused to listen to the details of the efforts Mercury and I were making. In the end, after two weeks, the payment went through...but no explanation from Chase how up until that payment on the 2nd of July, the same account was debited every single month with no problem. I sent a private message to the social media team on Twitter for Chase. They were apologetic, and said they had notified the manager of the branch, and to expect to hear from him. Almost two weeks have passed...not one word. I guess if you don't anticipate ever needing assistance, you can bank there...but be aware that if you find yourself in a situation where you need help, you might be out of luck. read more

I had the most disturbing experience banking at this branch. Albert the manager invaded my privacy by actually speaking Spanish with his teller that was helping me. They were talking about my account because he pointed at the screen and then she told me what he said in order to move forward. Which was basically that she is not able to help me with my request! It was interesting because I was standing there waiting for them to stop speaking Spanish and I actually thought that wow how crazy he's Asian and he speaks fluent. When I called to complain about how violated I felt he started screaming at me that he's actually from Asian descent???? So you're telling me Albert.... DONDE ESTA is Chinese or what? My teller was Spanish and she seemed to understand you perfectly! As a matter a fact if it was English I would have no problem explaining what the conversation was. Unfortunately when I spoke to Albert over the phone he was accusing me of making this entire thing up. He said "how could i speak Spanish if I'm from Asian descent"Basically saying that I hear things now. I'm actually scared how aggressive Albert was on the phone and how quick he was to defend him not speaking Spanish that I'm scared for my safety at this point since my name address and all my info is accessible to him. I cannot believe chase hires such disgusting employees but I will not be banking with chase any further and Ill be sure to take this further to ensure my safety. read more

This review on their mortgage service only. I called their mortgage consultant Suchada Lerknant for refinancing information. She said if I go in person, she'd be able to review my existing loan and get me better rates. I showed up at our appointment time, but she was with another customer. She said she would be ready for me in 15 minutes. I went down the street to run some errands and returned in 15 minutes, but she was still not ready. She said 10 more minutes. I waited. Another 10 minutes go by...I was getting anxious because I had another appointment afterwards that I may be late for if I kept waiting. I asked her colleague to tell her I needed to leave. Then she said she was almost done. Finally after another 10 minutes we sat down to discuss the refi. Not only did she not "review"my loan, she told me it was too late to call her loan department for rates, and she didn't have the authority to give me a lower rate. She said she would get back to me the next business day. What a bunch of BS! Total waste of time. I already told her what the existing rate was. If she didn't have the authority to negotiate better terms, why waste my time by asking me to go to the branch and wait more than 30 minutes. She could have told me on the phone. And she never followed up afterwards. Incompetent and poor service. read more

Deposited a check in the ATM outside and they put a hold on it for 10 days, which is not normal for my account. Attempted to cancel the deposit but it wouldn't let me. Completed the deposit in the ATM and went inside. Spoke to Natalie about it and she said she would follow up with me the next day and she did. Check had not cleared yet that day so she followed up again the next day. Check was cleared after 2 day with Natalie following up with me each day as she said she would. This rating is specifically for chase home loans. Worked with a gentleman by the name of Louis Constantino. He was extremely transparent and honest and was not trying to be pushy or "selly." Managed my expectations by telling me pros and cons, and any concerns that could arise. We ended up with another loan due to the timing of our escrow but if I ever need a loan again I would definitely work with Louis. He was extremely knowledgeable, honest, and was not pushy (like some of the other loan officers at other big banks in the area). My husband and I had such positive experience we had to write him a good review even though we went with another loan. Highly recommend! read more
