Service isn't what it once was, also seems to be a lot of new/different people working there. I've had good and bad experiences here, this last time seemed to be quick and easy so can't complain, plenty of parking, clean facility, large building. Early hours for firefighters is a big plus. read more

Legal Zoom has Renewed an LLC that no longer existed if mine. Would not refund the money despite the issue being that they did not check their records to see it had been dissolved. Since apparently that is okay of them to do per contract, my bank sided with them and $280 was removed from my account for something that no longer exists. Was unable to get help in the situation. read more

So far so good. I recently have a year with them and have had no issues. When I opened my account it was fast and easy. Also, when I did try to reach the credit union for a question I had, they answered right away. Not sure why some comments say they didn't answer them. I will update this review if needed. read more

Can never get them to answer the phones whatsoever.. try to bank during lunch guess what.. they're at lunch to but don't say anything as u wait on the phone for an hour for someone else I answer a time sensitive issue.. has happened many many times now.. I'm done 4 times now they take ur call in the message recirculating voice prompt machine 30 minutes before they close.. keep u on hold..and disconnect u at closing time saying they are currently closed. Has happened at least 4 times and I have complained each time and gotten nowhere read more

The hours are terrible. It rarely gets very busy but there is always a long wait. Sometimes they make withdrawals from the wrong account, forcing me to use my limited online transfers. read more

This lender is the WORST. They gave my payout check to a young kid who got it lost in the mail or just lied about sending it out. So then instead of my loan being paid off and transferred to FFCU, I got a late fee from the previous lender. I had to do all the legwork to fix the situation. Then after that, the loan agent was rude to me! COMPLETELY UNAPOLOGETIC! This woman Sonia seems to own the company and is accountable to nobody. She decides whatever terms and underwriting rule that fits her mood that day. This place is unorganized and unprofessional. read more

The ATM is often out of order. Very frustrating as it's the only credit union ATM in Eagle Rock.

I was raised with LAFCU, my dad was LAFD since 1961. We have been through hell especially this week from J.Bankhead and Al filing foreclosure on a second loan that has been silent since our bankruptcy in 2009. No letter, no call, we would not even know unless we started getting loan offers for foreclosure. We owe $280k and are current on our first with FFCU and expect to pay off this old silent loan when we sold. There is no upside for them to spend the money, decrease the value of our property and ruin our credit with this filing. We had to hire an attorney and he said he has never in his career, or life, ever dealt with anyone so rude, uncooperative and unprofessional. Previously I sent an email to the management and heard nothing except it was received. Aida is said to have "retired." Goodness left with her, I miss speaking with her as I made my loan payments each month from a share branch. The reality is they have no reason to do what they are supposed to by law, industry practice or for the benefit of members. There is no one to make them. They don't follow the rules and they are dishonest. My dad is turning in his grave with the lack of integrity of what used to be a benefit. God bless and good luck to all of us. read more

Avoid borrowing from this credit union at all costs!! I am a member only because they market heavily to my fire department of 500 members. After my experience with Sonia in securing an auto loan, as a representative for our union I've asked my union to warn other members away from this place. If I can do anything about it they will never show up to another recruit class marketing. I tried to get a small auto loan for my daughter as a co-borrower to help boost her credit. The whole process with Sonia was a fiasco. Even the high end dealership in San Francisco I bought the car from warned me not to go with Firefighters First. I had to take 3 days off work Sonia was always unavailable, and finally got the physical loan check at the last hour which I rushed 60 miles to the dealership in rush hour. Sonia changed the rate by a percentage point higher than she quoted literally at the last hour. (She would quote nothing in writing) and had the audacity to say if I had put $6,800 down on the vehicle instead of the $7,000 I put down the rate would have been better. Then she sent me loan documents with the percentage 4% higher than what she quoted me. In the end even after making my daughter a member they denied her on the loan right after I had dropped off the check. You would think with all of the credit unions going out of business they would actually want our business. I own a number of cars and motorcycles and would recommend Golden 1 or SF Fire Credit union as being much better to members and they pull your best credit score from the credit bureaus unlike Firefighters First which bases their rate off your worst score. I can't wait it get rid of this loan and my membership. I'm so disgusted with the customer service here. read more

Tried getting a hold of customer service multiple times for 4 days straight. Finally got a call back on day 4 only to get disconnected during the conversation. I thought for sure she'd call me right back. Nope. Right back to the end of the que. Its now less than an hour from closing on a Friday. Awesome read more

We were in the market to buy a new vehicle. My husband being a fire Fighter was told about Firefighters First Credit Union. He called them and worked with Ana. She was nothing less than amazing. She made the financing easy and quick. He was approved and bought a car the same day. She walked him through each step and ensured he had everything he needed. She was transparent and nice. We even ended up switching our banking over. She was able to add me on to a joint account seamlessly. read more

I went to take a loan and was given three different promises. Each time I accomplished what they wanted they changed the term of the loan. Just another company riding firefighters positive image. This is just a bank anybody can join. Not operated by firefighters they just like saying their a fire family. NOT! The credit union has gone down hill from mike running the credit union into just another bank. They mailed me a $8000. Cashiers check without tracking and lost it. Wanted me to wait 90 days to put s stop on it!!! They lost the check and I have to wait 90 days. I faxed them 7 pages of a doc. They said they got 4. I have fax confirmed!! Why bank with a one branch outfit?? Customer service very poor. Chase better. Branches everywhere! Why one branch bank. Oh yea closes at 4!!! read more

Great rates on bank accounts, loans and credit cards. Considerate employees who are helpful. A website that is clear and easy to use while keeping track of our money and paying bills online is a snap. I love being able to plug my $ amount in and set the date I want it to go out! read more

I have been a member here since I was a kid (my dad is a retired LA City Captain) and never had any issues. I recently had an issue regarding a check and they were nothing but helpful! If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I have been a member since 2008 and I AM a firefighter. Over the past 6 months, my experience with this bank have gone down hill. Prior to that, I had a normal bank experience, nothing to write home about. I've since had fraud issues that took hours of phone calls, emails, and red tape to sort through. I have had my card stop working constantly due to over-use. ???? what? They have no system to monitor fraudulent transactions, and instead depend on a third party app for their customers to use. When their system feels I've spent too much money in a day, it shuts down my card. I've been on the phone with them foe hours over the past several weeks trying to make purchases. Most recently, I sat on the phone for 1 hour, at a business, trying to buy a new washing machine that they would not approve. I had 10 times the amount of the washer AVAILABLE in my account at the time. Now, they are holding funds from a check I deposited on Friday through a shared ATM. I had no choice to deposit this way because I needed the funds and they are closed on weekends. Now, several managers have arbitrarily decided to NOT grant me an early release of funds as a courtesy even though they know my situation. Terrible bank, terrible customer service, terrible business practices. I will advise anyone I come in contact with to switch banks, or not become a member in the first place. No human should have to call and deal with their bank on a weekly basis. As soon as they actually give me access to MY money, I will be closing my account to switch to a more established, reputable bank that actually cares about their customers. read more

We have banked with Firefighters First Credit Union for over 15 years. We have always had excellent customer service. We love that they reimburse our fees anytime that we need to pull cash out of any ATM. We love all of the many features offered thru their app and online banking. I look forward to getting personalized shift calendars free of charge every year. I love being able to call early in the morning and speak to Member Services or come into a branch before regular business hours for help. The majority of the time we are always able to get through to a customer service representative without having to wait on hold for long periods of time. They have helped us multiple times with fraud on our account and even overnighted replacement cards with no additional fees. They know when someone is trying to compromise your card and notify you before you even notice. We have financed three cars and have always received a much better rate than the dealership was able to offer. Thank you for truly being our "Firefighter Family" and looking out for our personal needs every time. We appreciate knowing that we have an excellent Credit Union that always has our back! read more

I never thought I would write this.... But this institution is the worst of the worst... Some manager so unprofessional... Should be working flipping burgers .... She bullied me on the phone...Fire Family.... Is a joke. She judges and accuses members and thinks it's OK.... I know many people in the firefighting community and will make sure they are aware of the incompetence of some of their staff.... Collections department needs to stop judging and making up things..... Unbelievable.... Worst financial institution ever read more
