We have been banking with Chase for many year, they have always provided pretty good services. Today, we had to cash in quite a few US Savings Bonds, we didn't know it could be quite involved and time consuming. We went to the Torrance branch and they were unable to help us and told us to come back tomorrow morning. We went up to this PV location, and Ashley was super patient and helpful. She also explained that it's a time-consuming process which usually requires an appointment, she would help us with a few, and if there isn't a long line, she would help us more. I went into the bank on Wednesday 10/30 for a cashier's check. Ashley helped me with the transaction. She was extremely helpful and nice. She was giving me suggestions how to use the chase app to pay instead of getting a cashier's check. I have been dealing for HOURS/weeks with the clowns/liars at chase Bank regarding cancelling a stolen Visa card. I reported it on March 14, I was told it takes 5-7 days to send me replacement cards because they use some mail service which is not the USA mail. The little girl in the Phillipines that I spoke to on March 21 assured me that they had mailed the new card on March 14. She gave me the last 4 digits of the new card. I got new cards today, but the last 4 digits on the new card are not the numbers this drunk little girl gave me. When I reported this today (March 22), a little boy in the Phillipines, told me the new card with the new numbers didn't exist. I asked to be transferred to a grown up American. He transferred me to a little boy in India. (India isn't in the USA). I spent about 4 hours with this little boy, who ASSURED me that a replacement card would arrive by noon March 25. He was lying (ALL Chase Bank employees are required by Chase Bank to lie to customers). When noon came today, I called the service number on my card and was told the new card was sent by regular (not express as I had been promised) and I would get it in 5-7 business days. Closed my account. When the branch manager asked me why, it's because of J P Morgan's politics. I'm an independent and I'm sick n tired of companies playing the political game so I don't play. The branch manger challenged me saying "what company is not political", that is why I closed my account. What an attitude and so unprofessional. Don't engage with a customer on politics. read more

I travel extensively for work and needed to pick up cash for an upcoming trip. When traveling to countries that use US currency outside the US banks and merchants are often choosy about the bills they will take due to counterfeiting. I explained to the teller that I needed only the new style $100 bills for this reason and she pretty much was like "Nope" you get what comes out of the machine I don't have time to get you new bills. This was a first- never had this problem at another branch ever. Would not make eye contact, was not apologetic nothing. Did not catch her name- tall blond lady with an Eastern Europe accent. To clarify at other branches all the teller has to do is have the manager (who was standing right behind her) to get a new bundle of bills. Former Washington Mutual and before that, it was Home Savings. They did a massive renovation inside the bank and it seems like it's a swanky reception in a hotel. They had also retouched the stone mosaic mural that Matthew J. has mentioned and it finally finished after a year long wait. For those who bank at Chase, or now don't because they're changing a lot of their fees on you, this is a friendly Chase where their employees are willing to help you out and explain things to you from all that fine print. The employees at this branch are friendly, which is only good thing I have to say about Chase. The bank could never locate my safe deposit box, agreement, their key to get into box, etc. Real hassle trying to get into my box. They could not locate the agreement even when I closed the box. The employee promised to speak to the manager and look for agreement, but did nothing. I had to come up with original agreement in order for my key deposit to be returned to me. Plus they charged me a yearly fee for box after I closed it. I closed box because they raised fee higher than other banks. When I inquired if they had senior checking accounts, the employee had to ask several people if they offered such a thing. They told me they give free checks to senior. When I returned to bank to order "free" senior checks", I was told there was no such thing. Their policy that a certain lump sum of money be direct deposited into my checking at one time in order for me not to be charged a fee is ridiculous Other banks only charge fee if certain amount is not deposited monthly, not per deposit. I was $5 short of Chase's one time direct deposit although this amount is deposited 2-3 times a month into my account. So they charge me fee. Employee instructed me to close my account and open another that would be free if I use my ATM card a certain number of times per month. I asked employee, per my new banks instructions, to convert my checking account number to new account so I would not need to close account. They could not do that. Their ATM's only accept certain cash bills for deposit. So I have to go into bank and wait in long line when ATM spits out the bills I attempt to deposit. I was a long time Chase customer, but had enough of Chase and left. read more

The staff at this branch are some of the nicest and hardest working bankers I've seen at any bank, but they are no match for a thoroughly incompetent Chase corporate back office that will screw up most anything that can be screwed up. Out in California, all the old Washington Mutual's were bought up by Chase. I had some pretty terrible experiences back in the day with WaMu, and seeing the remodel and new Chase signage made me want to give Chase aka WaMu another chance. Bad move. I think it took 10x longer for me to open an account with Chase than to renew my license at the DMV. If you must open an account at Chase, go into the branch in person to do it. Do not open your account online or over the phone. It will save you a lot of pain and aggravation. read more
