Room was large (and AC was working fine) but decor was random and impersonal. King-sized bed was very comfortable and tiled shower bathroom was clean and functional. Note that the Inn is FOR SALE (last 500 days), so this may explain lack of attention to anything more than basic accommodation. I was unable to speak to anyone in management about having a late checkin -- they only respond to email (not phone) and not promptly and not on my first attempt. This was very odd. For the price ($281, with taxes), I think it should have been a lot nicer. Town is very quiet (actually pretty dead) and many businesses appear shuttered. There is however, a lovely park at the end of the property (after the tree swing) called Paradise Park. This made for a nice walk in the morning. I was glad we discovered this on our own as the innkeepers were non-existent. Pleasant enough, but .... not exactly what I was hoping for at this price.

We stayed for Valentine's weekend (3 nights), and it was like being welcomed into someone's mansion. The place is beautiful even in the winter snow. The accommodations are like stepping back in time, but with some modern amenities as well. The bed was a four poster antique replica with the most dreamy mattress. The in-room electric fireplace was nice within our spacious room (junior suite). Having Andy greet us every morning at breakfast was lovely, and the plated meal was delicious. We also enjoyed a bottle of wine and some food in the pub. An added bonus was entertainment one night by a talented duo. Recommendations for outside the Inn dining was provided by Andy along with some "must see things" as well. It was very nice "stepping into the historic past" at this beautiful Inn. A slow pace and a relaxing wood fire in the lobby was just what our weekend called for. We're planning to go back in warmer weather to see the grounds in all their glory and experience what other seasons have for visitors.

Over the years I've traveled to 38 states in the US, and a dozen countries on both sides of the planet. I've slept in everything from retreat centers to five star hotels. The Lake Inn isn't a five star hotel, but it gets five stars from me for clean, comfortable accomodations with views that can't be topped and friendly proprietors.

The main reason I didn't give it a 5 star was for the older furnishings. But, again, the room was clean!! One thing we didn't like and it wasn't really anyone's 'fault' but our room had a light outside our door and when the light was on at night bugs swarmed to the light and were all over our door when we were going in and out. I was greeted very nicely by this beautiful smell in the hallway Like a pine tree Christmas tree good thing which I didn't know was an air freshener I thought at first was the Christmas tree in the hallway.. The girl at the front desk, Emily she was just filling in for her mother, which I didn't know that at first, but she was very professional very outgoing greet you. Good evening welcome when you come in the door explain who I was what I needed she ends up being able to give me a room like two doors from the actual entrance at the back at the handicap entrance. So my John didn't have to walk too far since you don't been sitting for almost 3 hours in the car to get here. It was tough so then we got the wrong. I got settled came down and asked her several questions she had no problem the girl that was doing the cleanup she her name was Donna. She was working and it was her birthday like hello don't even take your birthday off wow I then talk with her for a bit to explain some things about the hotel. Everything is fresh clean bright it's beautiful. I'm sure it looks just as good when it's not decorated for Christmas as it does today it's all decorated people, Christmas, decorations and trees and bows and this fake present under the tree. Everything was just amazing so far so now I'm having breakfast and I got to sleep late for the first time, I can't say how long but breakfast has it starts off with a waffle station then it has four different kinds of fresh juice then it has a cooler that has chocolate milk in it. It has fresh yogurt, cottage cheese, boiled eggs, regular sticks of cheese then they have cold cereal. They have hot cereal. They have fresh yogurt that you can make buffets with they have things and stuff they have three kinds of fresh fruit. They have a bread station that has bagels and English muffins and toast in it with peanut butter and jelly butter Have a microwave for heating. Then their hot station has bacon and sausage, and it also has cheese omelettes and scrambled eggs this morning if two kinds of fresh coffee, hot water for coconut tea. I mean, if you can't find something for breakfast here to eat then you have a problem I had a fresh buttermilk waffle with bacon. Everything looks delicious. Looks amazing fresh I mean this has been absolutely my number one experience in hotel and the best Western of all the times I've stayed I really enjoyed this one if they were all cookie cutter, I would be doing great. I think at one time we did stay at one of the one in Pennsylvania, and that was fantastic as well, but it's nice. You can go more than one and more than one state and it's just the same. I will definitely be back here again up here for a friendly family party tonight, but we're staying till tomorrow so we can have a real short brief vacation and get some sleep without eating anyways and being bothered and stuff. it's also literally a stone stove from the highway exit you cannot go wrong by coming off and using this as a rest stop is definitely something you should come to check out is not till 12 so I mean you have no excuse not to lay in bed. Take your time get some breakfast go back and relax and everything is just top-notch here. Everything about this hotel was unforgettable and it is probably my favorite hotel stay ever. The food was amazing. Breakfast was included and everything was cooked in house with really delicious and unique options like rosemary potatoes, high quality yogurt, and homemade jams. It all felt very homemade - because it was! The dining room was adorable and matched the rest of the property, which is filled with antiques. There are antiques everywhere in the hallways and the rooms carry that same vintage feel, which makes it really fun just to walk around and explore. There is also a library room with a pool table that feels like the cutest vintage lounge space. The pool area was amazing with a large hot tub, a nice pool, and a sauna. At night they have fire pits and complimentary s'mores packs so you can go outside and roast marshmallows. There are also games to borrow, a bar, river access, and so much more.
