It was almost like being treated like a guest in your best friend's very clean house. It is a very short 250 yards down sidewalked streets to the heart of Norwich, the Historical Society, village green, and Dan & Whit's. Following a generous breakfast we strolled Norwich, lunched in Hanover (10 min drive including parking), toured King Arthur (5 min drive), and returned to enjoy a quiet evening and submit our breakfast orders.

The hotel also finally sent me a folio which the employees I spoke to previously had refused to send, and I saw that I had been charged $35/day for "valet" parking. Summary below. ---------------- Stayed there in early May 2026 for work, and this hotel added a false $70 charge as "parking" fee, even though I didn't have a car (traveled to Dartmouth by bus) and had never used the parking service. They also refused to send me a receipt for that amount. The first time I called to inquire about the charge, the person who answered the call told me it was a deposit-like charge for incidentals which would be reversed. A few days later, I saw that I had been fully charged $70. It was only after I sent in a written inquiry that someone called back to say that it was for "parking". This is when I asked my bank to intervene. The bank solved the issue in a day (whereas I had been trying on my own for a week). Lesson learned: if you can't solve it immediately, ask your bank for help. Their website says, "We offer valet service with on-site, heated, and secure parking for $35/day." They surely must have known that I hadn't used the service. This charge could easily have been missed. Please be careful. There are other reviewers of the hotel on other platforms who also cited false charges, so it seems that mine was not an isolated issue. Big ups to Chase for quickly acting and disputing the charges. My bus tickets to Dartmouth were very helpful, a reminder that it's important to keep all documents. Editing June 2026: I just learned upon talking to the institution which paid for my hotel stay that Six South St Hotel attempted to charge their card $70 (as well as my personal card). I don't know the exact timeline, so cannot say if this was simultaneous, but we both agreed that we will try to avoid this hotel in the future. Both cards have now been correctly credited back, but only after I asked my bank to intervene. Again, there are similar reviews on other platforms, including one review which also noted that they could not receive a folio (which was my case as well). Please beware.

Based on reviews and their webpage, I was under the impression that breakfast was provided but it was not. You can buy breakfast in the restaurant but it is expensive. The weirdest part of the stay was that there is no host to check guests in or help with issues. It is completely virtual! You press the button on a doorbell camera and someone answers after like 5 min. I had to press it several times to get a response at 10 am in the day of my checkout. The response was the staff doesn't show up until 11 am; which is the checkout time. There is a text number but the person or AI agent on the other end clearly is not the innkeeper or anyone capable of making decisions. They/It provided faulty information and was the opposite of helpful. If this is what the future of hospitality looks like, I am not impressed. My family rented two rooms on the first floor. One room facing the back of the property was nice but the other one (#15) was very small and had two windows overlooking the front porch and yard. Unfortunately there are chairs just outside of the windows and someone kept sitting in one of them and talking on her phone. It was very uncomfortable to have the shades open and have someone sitting right there. Because of this we had to keep the curtains drawn and with the room being so small, it felt like we were in a cave. Basically, it sounds like staying at the Jackson used to be a very nice experience but new owners/management are now trying to run the hotel as cheaply as possible. Guests are noticing.

They also seem to do wedding as well as we can see the venue on the back side of the building. The place has long history and they even have a pamphlet that traces the history of the place back to 1800s. It's located near a pond and as you go in the premise there are gravel parking lots on the left. Once we parked we went inside to check in. The staff helped us check in and gave us our keys. Once we got the key we went to find our room. Noticed that it's definitely an older building as keys are regular key and a door knob which we don't see many at hotels nowadays. The lock for our room was bit tricky and i had to finagle it to open. Once open inside was a small room with queen bed, a mini fridge, tv, some light, bathroom and a closet. They also do have the old school ac unit. Inside seems to be relatively clean but does have that worn rustic old looks as its a historic buildings. One of the light was also not turning on quite so once again i had to finagle it to make it work. The facility also has diner and lounge area which is small and has that rustic look. They offer dinner and breakfast. Breakfast does come with the stay. We went to breakfast in the morning which was buffet style. Typical coffee, egg, sausage, bacon, home fries, blueberry pancake, cereals, yogurt, and some pastries and breads. The breakfast was ok. Service overall was good. Everyone was nice and helpful. Overall its a nice place to stay if you want to explore the quechee area and like that old farm rustic vibe.
