The hospitality, food, accommodations and location could not have been better. We enjoyed our stay immensely. The Governors Inn was our last stay on the Vermont Inn to Inn walking tour. My sister and I stayed 2 nights in August at the Governor's Inn in Ludlow Vermont. This cozy, comfortable, charming and immaculate Inn is located so close to the center of town and walking distance to shops and restaurants. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic - artfully creative dishes with so much attention to the details that we felt like we were dining in a high end restaurant! Oh and don't forget to grab a homemade treat in the middle of the afternoon. The new owners, Danny and Craig were truly the most amazing hosts. They were incredibly welcoming, kind and so much fun! This was an excellent place to stay. Everything was so cozy and comfortable. The rooms were spotless and well appointed. The breakfast was just the right size and was excellent. But the high point of the inn are the inn keepers. They were so welcoming and helpful. We stayed during the VT Inn to Inn walk, so we were tired and disheveled and they welcomed us with open arms and made us immediately comfortable. My wife and I stayed at The Governor's Inn the weekend of Oct 13-15, 2023. The place was immaculate, beautiful, and full of charm. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming. The room was great, an extremely comfortable bed. The sheets were so comfortable that we checked the brand and ordered some for our home! And don't miss the breakfast- we at first didn't think it would be enough- when we were done we were quite satisfied- and it was delicious. The Inn is close and convenient to downtown Ludlow- a quaint Vermont town right near Okemo Mountain resort with all of the activities it has to offer, as well as Buttermilk Falls in the Okemo State Forest. We will definitely be coming back next time we come to Ludlow. read more

Wish I had taken more photos! Couple things: 1. The rooms were shockingly much better than the photos i saw on the website before we went. So keep that in mind when considering this place. We stayed in Cecilia's suite and it was extremely clean, beautifully decorated, and romantic /cozy. Felt very at home. 2. The service. I'm not sure I've ever been to a place that does hospitality better than this place. Holger and Rosie are kind, extremely accommodating, and dish out DELICIOUS breakfasts. The attention to detail of their service and of the place in general is amazing. 3. Location was great, walking distance to a number of great restaurants, 5min drive from Okemo. We stayed a few days at The Governor's Inn in Oct., 2024. My wife and I can't say enough great things about the Inn and the hospitality extended to us by hosts, Holger and Rosie. The Inn was immaculate, comfortable, and so relaxing. The breakfasts were exceptional and each morning brought a pleasant surprise on the menu. It's truly a great place to just unplug and capture the Fall in Vermont at its best. Each day's activity presented a new adventure. Experiencing Ludlow and the nearby towns offered many shops to visit, places to sight see, and convenient restaurants to enjoy! Often with an added benefit within walking distance. This is a charm filled Inn in the center of the lovely town of Ludlow VT. The innkeepers Holger and Rosie are charming and helpful. They pointed us to a great dinner restaurant , as we had not made a reservation ahead. The room was large, with all of the amenities you would expect including bathrobe, toiletries, sewing kit, etc. I especially appreciated the makeup washcloth ! The absolute best! Rosemarie and Holger were the perfect hostess and host for many reasons besides the unbelievable homemade breakfast each morning including Strawberry Pistachio Tower, Cinnamon Sugar Bourbon Pumpkin Muffin, Lime-Coconut Smoothie Bowl, Poached Egg "Caprese", and Herbs Egg Souffle (Egg, Creme Fraiche, and Cream Cheese mixed with fresh Herbs) with Breakfast Sausage and Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. We had booked for three nights but because of the change in ski weather...too warm, they graciously allowed us to change to only two nights. Plus, I had left something valuable in the room and not only did I receive a VM but as we drove by the Inn on the way home from the mountain, Holger ran out to our car and gave it back to me! My husband and I came to Vermont to enjoy the change of color. When we arrived at The governor's Inn we were greeted by Holger and made to feel very welcome. The bed and breakfast is decorated so lovely and our room was cozy and comfortable. Rosie made the most wonderful breakfast and the dining room was very charming. Holger was there to answer all our questions give us ideas for where to visit and was always so pleasant and congenial. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay for our Vermont excursion. Wonderful experience! The innkeepers were gracious and welcoming. The inn was clean and cozy. The rooms were very homey and the bedding was very comfortable. The morning breakfast delicious...only wish there were two options for main course (sweet and savory...my husband is one and I am the other). In any case, the option provided was delicious!!!! We are so pleased to find the Governor's Inn. We enjoyed our stay there immensely. Access to skiing at Okemo is incredibly close and convenient, and once our skiing was done - we took full advantage of tea, baked goods, and a roaring fire back at the Inn. Holger made sure we felt welcome and offered great area dining tips; and RoseMarie's breakfasts were amazing. From our first steps inside this beautiful inn to regretfully having to leave two days later, we were made to feel like family. Holger and Rosie both welcomed us when we arrived and were so personable and friendly. Our room, The Priscilla Room, was spacious and lovely. The little extras like chocolates, spa robes, a makeup facecloth, sewing kit, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, books, all helped us realize we were in a special place. I arrived with a broken toe and Holger and Rosie did everything they could to make sure I was comfortable, getting me a chair to rest my foot on, offering my a hot pot of water to make tea, etc. This is a bed and breakfast inn and may I just say Rosie's breakfasts were incredible!! The food was so delicious, appealing and filling! You can skip lunch after eating one of Rosie's breakfasts!! The place settings were so beautiful and the delicate tea cups and saucers made us feel like royalty. Rosie and Holger gave us some recommendations for dining and for a craft fair taking place and we took them up on their recommendations and enjoyed ourselves so much! My fiancé and I just spent an extended weekend at Governor's Inn, and we had an unforgettable experience. Weekends such as these really make me wish that there were more gems to replace all of the impersonal large hotel chains. The b&b is run by a very sweet couple that really know how to make guests feel welcome and comfortable. On arrival, Jim (our host) gave us a tour and showed us our room (complete with comedy and laughter). He explained the local dinner options and showed us how to use our fireplace. Afterwards, we enjoyed afternoon tea (served from 4-5 everyday) before getting ready to find dinner. Each night the room was prepared with chocolates on the bed and in our case wine glasses for the wine we had brought. Each morning fresh, delicious breakfast was served (with a new menu each day) including fresh juice, warm muffins, hot tea or coffee and a main course. Menu included around six choices of items such as egg soufflé and apple cinnamon pancakes. We will definitely visit Governor's Inn again, and we will definitely recommemd others to book a stay here! read more

This place was a total gem in the quaint little ski resort town of Ludlow. The Inn keeper was very friendly and informative upon arrival. The old fashioned decor of this B&B was charming and classy. The rooms are basic but very clean and a major bonus if you have a fire place. They are also very equipped with the necessities-complimentary toiletries if you forgot something, hair dryer, free wifi, etc. They have a tiny stocked bar where you can order glasses/bottles of wine and beers. They serve high tea at 4 pm every day and you definitely don't want to miss breakfast. You have a choice of juices, coffee and tea to drink along with a delicious homemade muffin of the day to start before choosing one of the yummy specials. You can have yogurt parfait or granola in additional to your choice of the main selections of the day- usually a sweet ( i.e. vanilla butternut french toast or blueberry pancakes) or savory ( potato and egg tort or egg puff pastry with sausage or bacon). All in all a wonderful stay and highly recommended for a low key, romantic getaway. A few things to note: They do provide a turndown service each night complete with cute little chocolates left on the bed. They let you know this and it is also stated in the handy guidelines they provide you. If you think this is a " total violation of your privacy" then simply tell them not to! Very nice Inn, in a quaint town. The Inn Keepers and staff are very friendly, informative, and welcoming. The breakfasts were excellent! The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 was because we weren't thrilled with the setup of our room "Laura's Room". We didn't like the bathroom, which is on the small side, being across the hall from the room. It does state this in the description, but I guess I didn't "really" understand what it meant. The sloping bedroom walls make the room feel smaller, and the fireplace is nice but seems to either be too hot or off, so it's a little hard to regulate the temperature. These are small inconveniences for an otherwise nice place to stay, and I state them here just so people know what to expect. There are a number of other bedrooms which do not have the drawbacks of Laura's room. The one other issue was the WiFi, which appears to be old technology. We were warned that we might have issues connecting, especially with Apple products. Ironically, my Android would not connect, but an iPad would. Anyway, it would be nice if they would update their equipment, because connecting should not be an issue. read more
