Stayed here for one night In July. There is NO front desk service, never saw or spoke to anyone in hotel management. Breakfast was do-it-yourself based on contents of the fridge, breakfast bar and keurig coffee maker (not deluxe, but adequate). Room was large (and AC was working fine) but decor was random and impersonal. King-sized bed was very comfortable and tiled shower bathroom was clean and functional. Note that the Inn is FOR SALE (last 500 days), so this may explain lack of attention to anything more than basic accommodation. I was unable to speak to anyone in management about having a late checkin -- they only respond to email (not phone) and not promptly and not on my first attempt. This was very odd. For the price ($281, with taxes), I think it should have been a lot nicer. Town is very quiet (actually pretty dead) and many businesses appear shuttered. There is however, a lovely park at the end of the property (after the tree swing) called Paradise Park. This made for a nice walk in the morning. Adorable, clean, cozy. We enjoyed our one night stay here. We checked in very late and contacted the Innkeeper for our room number when we arrived, as she had already left for the day. This Inn is nestled in on a quaint little street. We had dinner down the road which was perfect. The continental breakfast at the Inn was fabulous, I had hard boiled eggs and an english muffin with good coffee. There was an assortment of breads and muffins, oatmeal, waffles, fruit, etc. And the chocolate chip cookies are a delicious bonus! read more

Perfection. The best B&B I have ever stayed in. The handsome brick Georgian building is set in a acre of land, with gardens around, and a grassy hill overlooking Paradise Park and its pond (The hill is awesome for stargazing! A real treat for city-folk!) The staff is friendly, but not intrusive, and helpful when asked for advice about the area. While the Inn is pricey, you get what you pay for. Our room (Room 7 on the 3rd floor) was huge, with a mix of country and mid-century furniture, a very comfy king size bed with crisp clean-smelling sheets, bureau, and windows on two sides looking out over the street and grounds. It was painted a muted light green with white moldings and doors, and wide pine floors. There's a big LCD tv on the wall, with cable as well as a blu-ray player with access to Netflix, Pandora and YouTube (if you have accounts.) Also a few dozen movies in the Library to borrow (we watched a couple movies.) I peeked into several other rooms, and i don't think you could go wrong with any of them, all huge and very nicely appointed. The room was immaculate and also featured radiant floors in the 4-peice classically styled bath, which included a claw foot rub (outfitted with bath salts), a subway-tiled shower, and a quirky exposed beam running through one corner of the space. They have L'Occitane products A small vase of fresh flowers in the bathroom was a nice touch. The room had an efficient, quiet spit AC / heat unit, as well as supplemental old-style radiators (for winter stays). There is free, open WiFi throughout the house. The continental breakfast was what you'd expect - bagels, pastries, yogurt, cereal and boiled eggs. It's included and held in the spacious dining room. There is tea and coffee available there 24-hours. For the money (this isn't a cheap place), it would have been nice to have something like hot eggs, bacon set out as well, but the breakfast was perfectly in line with many B&Bs. There's also cookies left out in the lobby all afternoon, till they are gone, a nice touch as well. There's also a library / living room on the first floor to relax or read some of the volumes, and two porches as well. There were a couple small issues, which i wouldn't count as major: The windows didn't have screens, so you couldn't really open the windows to let the cool night air in (my partner wondered if the historic nature of the building was the reason), there wasn't a mini-fridge in the room, which i really like (it could fit in the closet easily). A note on the town itself: While the town itself is somewhat of one-stoplight town, there are a few dining spots around (inexplicably, no restaurants are open anywhere around on Monday night!), the longest covered bridge in the world, the Simon Pearce glass HQ, a Harpoon brewery, and the sort of new agey but fun "Path of Life" sculpture garden, also within a half hour drive: Hanover NH (Dartmouth College), quaint Woodstock, VT, and Quechee Gorge. So there's plenty to do for a weekend trip. In fact, we did quite alot in our two night stay, and my only regret in staying there was i wasn't there longer to have a change to just relax and read, walk around the pond out back, and generally enjoy the house. And if it hadn't rained the 2nd night, i'd have liked another chance to star-gaze, since i didn't have a wish ready when i say the one shooting star the first night. read more

The hubby and I stayed two nights here this week. We had a wonderful stay! The first night we had the place to ourselves, the second night, 3 other rooms were taken. We stayed in room 7, which was an excellent mix of old charm and modern touches. The bed was comfy, nice flatscreen tv and blu-ray player, the heated floors in the bathroom was a nice touch, the clawfoot tub was excellent for a relaxing soak and the L'Occitane toiletries were lovely. The innkeeper, Nate, is very nice and informative about the area and does anything he can to make your stay as good as it can be. The continental breakfast was nice as well. (Grab dinner at Simon Pearce--20 minutes away!) Overall, an excellent stay--we had no complaints. It is a bit pricey for us, but a Groupon helped make our stay possible within our budget. Windsor, VT seemed to be a good midway point between Brattleboro and Burlington and most of the other touristy things you'd want to do in VT. Definitely go check out the Quechee Gorge and the large covered bridge in the area! Thanks for everything, Nate! Snapdragon Inn is nice but no frills, offers great value, and is centrally located to everything you may want to do while you're in the area. Despite staying here New Years weekend it was surprisingly quiet. Accommodations are clean, simple and spacious. Our bathroom offered a tub and shower with a heated bathroom floor that is a must have in the winter months in Vermont. All rooms have cable and a DVD player so bring a movie and they also offer a small collection of DVDs. They offer a simple continental breakfast. I'd recommend trying the waffles with their maple peanut butter sauce. And my favorite drink was the chocolate mint tea. As for the town of Windsor itself, not much going on, but easy access to Hanover, Quechee, and Woodstock. Things you must do while in the area....walk the grounds at Dartmouth. Beautiful historic buildings and architecture. For the I'll college town experience eat at Molly's. Get the Brussel sprout and arugula salad....amazing. Spend an afternoon at King Arthur's flour taking a class. Well worth the money, we had such a wonderful time. Bring ziplock bags to store all your baked goods. Reserve a table at Simon Pierce with a water view. Though expensive it's worth the view. One morning, skip the continental breakfast and grab breakfast at 4 Acres Diner for the full old school diner experience.u read more

Buyer Beware!!!! I bought a discounted rate through Travelzoo.com. Apparently, I made a reservation at the end of November to stay at the inn. One month later... I could not remember the dates for which I booked, or if I definitely had since booking would be dependent on my husband's availability. I called the Snapdragon three times to find out what date I had booked. When this sweet older lady finally answered, she told me I had NOT booked anything. Interesting... when I asked her if I could make a reservation with my travelzoo "coupon" she said she didn't know how and that she would have the inn keeper call me the next day. He never called me. I called them one last time. No answer. I then called travelzoo and told them I no longer wanted to stay at the inn seeing how they could not simply call me back. I spoke with travelzoo three times and each time they also called the inn with no avail. When the inn keeper finally returned travelzoo's call (seven days later) he said he would not refund the money! The reason: it is his busiest season of the year. doesn't that mean the reservation I cancelled would be quickly rebooked by another?!? *** Also important to note... he returned travelzoo's call 13 days before my reservation date (apparently I had made a reservation for 1/27, which the woman I originally spoke to at the inn could not find). It clearly states on his website's policy that reservations can be cancelled with refund if 14 days before reservation date. Therefore, innkeeper intentionally did not return travelzoo's call until his policy kicked in and protected his money. Longer story short: Travelzoo took the hit and returned my money without getting their money back from him. For anyone planning to stay here: I would absolutely question the innkeepers moral character! read more

What a wonderful place ! Simply amazing for a great getaway. Snapdragon Inn is very beautiful and has such great history with it . Everything is neat and VERY CLEAN . We stayed in room #2 WE LOVED IT ! Very nice super clean the beds were very comfortable. The bath tubs is great and the heated floors were a great plus we weren't even aware of before hand .Breakfast was Great! Pekka and his wife were very nice and helpful and recommended great places for food and entertainment . We took the drive from Baltimore to Vermont for a couple days away and it was totally worth it . We will definitely be back ! I cannot say enough positive things about my experience at the Snapdragon. From the gorgeous decoration and personalized service to the delcious breakfast and attention to detail, everything about my stay was perfect. My family and I were in town for my sister's wedding at the Old South Church last weekend and opted to stay at the Snapdragon. Positives: -the amazing service -the ymmy toiletries -the air conditioning -the grounds -the porch (my goodness, the porch was awesome) -the coffee cake -the keurig (my mom would want me to say this) -the piano -the history -the clawfoot tub -the recommendations Negatives: -we didn't have power our final night there (AND IT TOTALLY WASN'T THE SNAPDRAGON'S FAULT) All in all, I would go back to the Snapdragon in a heartbeat. In fact, I am considering visiting my sister for Thanksgiving and one of the major motivating factors is another stay at the Snapdragon. read more

We are so happy we stayed at Snapdragon Inn for our first trip to Vermont, during this past late summer. The grounds and the building is very well kept. The house was built around 1815. With some cool history created as the time moves forward, it was purchased by the current owners in 2007 and turned into the Snapdragon Inn* after renovation. We stayed on the third floor,in Room 8 (see the picture slide show, pic #5). The room was spacious, clean and of very pleasant decor, with an "Oh! So comfortable!" king bed. The bathroom comes with L'Occitane bath amenities and the floor is heated. I don't think I have felt this relaxed and at ease at outside my own place. The Innkeeper, Michelle, she let us check in early and provided us with printed information of interesting destinations around the area. We had several small conversations through out our two night stay, Michelle strikes us as a very genuine person who wants you to fully enjoy your stay at the Inn. There are fresh fruits, tea and coffee 24/7. Also, in there afternoon there are fresh baked cookies out in the lobby. Regarding breakfast, Snapdragon Inn's Continental style was great. There are no meats like ham or bacon but you will find plenty of health and light varieties of breakfast items to start your morning with. I always came down for breakfast 10 minutes before the end of serving hours, Michelle would just continue to accommodate and to make sure there are still plenty of food for us to eat. We recently spent two nights at this inn, in November. It is just off a main road, so don't expect a truly rural setting, but there is a scenic park nearby. The house is very nice and much more up-to-date than most B&Bs. The inn is clean and the rooms are cozy with comfortable beds. Note that the rooms don't have hairdryers or irons, but the manager can probably loan those items to you. The inn offers only breakfast, which is a satisfactory continental breakfast. However, don't expect a hot homemade breakfast, like at many B&Bs. For other meals, you will likely need to drive to Hanover, NH or Woodstock, VT, about 15 minutes away. Both towns are very quaint and worth a visit. In Windsor, know that the other attractions are a Dollar General and a pizza place. I had a disappointing experience with the service. I requested a certain room when making my reservation. When checking in, I found that I had been moved to a lesser room, for which I was charged the same price. I was told the other room was now "unavailable" and I noticed another couple was staying in the room. I found this unprofessional. I would have preferred to receive a call ahead of time, notifying me of the downgrade. This disappointing experience at check-in was not the ideal way to begin the visit. This lack of professionalism, along with the high rates, will keep me from returning or recommending to others. The inn is nice, but not worth $250 a night. There are a number of other attractive and less expensive properties in the region. Overall, the stars I've subtracted are due to the location, the lack of amenities in the room (hairdryer, iron), the price-quality relationship, and the unceremonious room downgrade. read more

In addition to a wonderful night's sleep, the inn offers a truly relaxing environment where you feel right at home just reading a book or meandering around the beautiful, well-kept property. My wife and I came up to Vermont on a spontaneous weekend getaway, and took one look at the Snapdragon Inn and we were set on getting a room. It was definitely the right choice! The Inn - the grounds and the building are amazing and immaculate. The decor and comfortable and classy. It is tasty fully decorated and almost takes you back in time, if it were not for the HDTVs and free wifi! The bed was so comfortable, the room was spacious and cozy, and the bathrooms have heated floors. The breakfast is on the lighter side, but ample enough with an array of cereals, oatmeals, hard-boiled eggs, fresh fruits, juice, jams, and coffee and tea. The staff - We had the pleasure of having Michelle assist us. She was always available, even by phone or text when she is off shift. She definitely goes above and beyond the call of duty and makes sure all your needs are met. She is also very knowledgeable on the local restaurants and activities. Snapdragon Inn was probably lovely at one time but it is up for sale and in a state of disrepair. It hasn't been well taken care of in recent years. And the rooms are hot! You can't open the windows of your bedroom and it was hot and stuffy. No alternatives to down comforter. The floor of our room needed to be swept. It was not neat and tidy. Breakfast was self serve. No person on site. Make your own waffle, grab your own fruit from the bowl (I had to throw out several pieces of moldy fruit), warm up a breakfast sandwich. For a bed AND breakfast, this was a disappointment. On our second day, the coffee maker didn't work. I called the housekeeper and she walked me through resetting it. That didn't work so she came in with a Kuerig. Walking up and down the stairs to enter the building was tricky as the steps were rickety and looked like they had been patched. The photos make the bedrooms look wonderful. They are not. The drawers on the dresser stuck and weren't aligned, there was only one chair to sit in to watch TV (there were 2 of us), and the room was sparse. We wanted to love this B&B so much! But we did not. It is rundown and the caretaker is not taking care of it. She seems to be doing barely enough to get by. Apparently the owners are out of state. We would not stay here again, even though it is in a good location. read more

He upgraded our room and brought us sparkling wine to celebrate. Breakfast the next morning was relaxing, and woman who was taking care of things was just as friendly and very nice! In a historically significant town with great museums - The Construction House- location of signing of the Vermont constitution which kept Vermont as an independent nation for 13 years and The American Precision Museum chronicling the history of the machine tool industry in America. This place was really cute and functional. Breakfast was good but that's about all I have to say that's positive. The town is uneventful and not much to do. We had a Travelzoo voucher that came with free maple syrup and 2 drink vouchers. We never received either and after we asked Tom, we were told that both things and coasters will be dropped off at our room. None of those items were ever dropped off. We were the youngest couple at this Inn and the only ones of color, not sure if that was a contributing factor of the differential treatment. We saw other people receive the items and it's a matter of principal and false advertising. read more

Up the road is the Skunk Hollow Tavern in Hartland, and with Woodstock, Claremont, and Lebanon a 15-20 minute drive up the interstate, your choices for dining become truly diverse. Applebees? Check. I stayed here last weekend and had a wonderful time! The inn is adorable and really nicely decorated. It is the perfect mix between old and new - it has all the quaint, unique charm of an old property, but is updated with nice touches like fluffy bathrobes, ridiculously comfortable beds (my bed now feels hard!), blu ray players, and heated bathroom floors. Coming up from Boston, it was the perfect relaxing wintery getaway for my boyfriend and I. The inn keeper, Nate, had stellar recommendations for dinner both nights - great local places with authentic VT charm and super delicious food using local ingredients. Also, in Windsor there are great activities - like touring Harpoon brewery, snow shoeing, and even dog sledding! Would love to go back again next year. read more

I fell in LOVE with the Snapdragon when we were scouting accommodations for our wedding which took place this past Labor Day weekend at a family home in Windsor. I knew that I wanted to somehow incorporate the gorgeously picturesque inn into all the festivities. I ended up staying in the exquisite room 9 with my sister the night before the wedding and it provided the most incredible respite from all the chaos of arriving family and friends and planning and stress. The room was perfectly appointed for luxury and relaxation and somehow seamlessly integrated all kinds of modern amenities like a sound system to connect to your phone or iPod, and a large flat screen TV and blu-ray player etc.... The day of the wedding, all of my 7 bridesmaids, multiple mom's and a hair dresser, ALL got ready in the one room - and amazingly there was plenty of room for all of us! The photo-ops in the room, in the lobby (with the beautiful grand piano and parlor area), and on the back lawn with a charming tree swing and willow tree were breathtaking and magical! And to top it all off my Husband and I spent our wedding night at the Inn, so needless to say, it will always hold a special place in our hearts!! AND on top of all of this, the price was SO worth it and literally HALF of what we would have paid at the often over-hyped Woodstock Inn 30 mins North. I will come back again and again and again!! We had a great experience at the SI. They were able to accommodate us for two nights with less than 24 hours notice. Our travel plans changed and we weren't able to arrive at the Inn until late Sunday night but the manager was kind enough to leave the key in an envelope for us. The Inn is decorated in the style of a classic B & B with a reading room off the lobby that offers a library of DVDs to borrow. Our room (number four) was cozy and comfortable with a small flat screen tv and blu ray player. The DYI breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The highlight was a waffle iron that allowed my wife to make a Nutella fruit waffle for her breakfast. The staff was helpful and attentive. We would definitely stay here again. read more

We were very disappointed with our stay at the Snapdragon Inn. We used Booking.com to make our reservation and paid $501/for two nights. Because we were paying $250/night we expected more than a bare bones place with no amenities not even newspapers in the morning. Our room had a comfortable bed, but no sitting area. At night I was unable to knit and watch TV at the same time. Even though there was a mini-split on the wall, our room was cooled by a very noisy window air conditioner. Snapdragon's WiFi network which does not require a password. Other guests told us that they used Travelzoo vouchers and paid $119/a night and had a lovely room. In my opinion, $119/night is about the right price for a night in this place. We do not recommend the Snapdragon and we will not be going back. read more

I found this inn on Jetsetter and decided it would be a great opportunity to spend a few days away with my boyfriend. We were there for two nights in August and had a wonderful time. It was quiet and relaxing, and the surrounding area offered just enough to do to keep us entertained and busy for a few hours in the day (Harpoon Brewery, Simon Pearce workshops and restaurant, and Darmouth College all within a 25 minute drive). We stayed in room 1 which is on the second floor right above the lobby. During the day you could hear the front door slamming shut, but this was never an issue at night. Our room was also near the spa which allowed for us to comfortably go from our room to the spa in our bathrobes. In some reviews there was a mention of there being no iron in the rooms, but ours was equipped with an iron and a mini ironing board which came in handy when getting ready for dinner. The heated floors and l'Occitane products were a nice touch. (Note: if you don't have experience with heated floors, it takes some time for it to heat up) There is a bluray player as well as Netflix, Pandora, and free WiFi access. The complimentary breakfast had a selection of Chobani yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit, pastries, Bolthouse juice, bagels with a toaster, coffee, and tea. The cookies served every night in the lobby was a nice touch (we could smell them baking from our room!) The spa was nice and the masseuses were very professional. We didn't care to spend the extra money on a couples massage so our massages were initially scheduled an hour apart. Upon our arrival, however, we were asked if we wanted to make it a couples massage at no extra cost. I found my relaxation massage to be just what I needed to unwind. My boyfriend, although he found it relaxing, describes his deep tissue massage as a "medium tissue massage". Overall it was a great B&B and I would recommend it to my family and friends. The only reason I am not giving this a five star is because of minor things such as a mystery balance that was on my account upon our arrival. This was solved, however, and no extra charges were placed on my account. read more

Our room was gorgeous, and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious-- warm scones, yogurt, fresh fruit-- and it didn't hurt that the owners kept fresh cookies at the front desk. Windsor is small, with a few restaurants and a grocery store within walking distance. Within a few minutes' drive of the Inn there are state parks for longer hikes; the Harpoon brewery (with delicious and, coming from NY, incredibly well-priced pints); and, about 15 minutes away, some larger towns where we went looking for antiques and food. We were happy to spend most of the weekend relaxing in and around Windsor. There's a lake just behind the Inn, and it was a lovely place to walk-- although there hasn't been much snow this year, we took a tentative walk on the ice. My husband & I prefer to stay in B&B's and Inns over hotels when traveling. On this much-needed long-weekend getaway, we stumbled upon The Snapdragon Inn, and it quickly became amongst our favorites! I was initially impressed with the customer service in the first phone call for the reservation. I was treated like royalty and there was follow-up by both email and phone as I had set an appointment at the spa as well. We arrived a bit early and greeted extremely warmly by the Innkeeper, Michelle. As it turned out, our room was ready prior to check-in time and we were able to go to the room early. Michelle clearly explained charges to us and showed us around. She offered assistance with our luggage though we were okay on our own (but the offer was appreciated). She gave us info on events going on in the area, suggestions for area restaurants, and dinner menus. Most importantly, she gave us undivided attention when we had questions. She appeared genuinely interested in helping. Our room was GORGEOUS!! The bed outstanding! The room is equipped with a blu-ray player and there are movies in the living room to choose from for entertainment. We watched movies on a rainy day...was perfect! The bathroom and shower was great! Just roomy enough, and perfect temperature control. Good water pressure and wonderful L'Occitane products as their bath/body line. The towels were fluffy and smelled wonderful, and the robes were COMFY! !! The grounds are deceptively beautiful. ..yes, this Inn is right off the road and one might think there's little to it, but walk a little ways behind it and you find Paradise Park which is just that...a blissful little area with a lake and a lovely walking path. Breakfast at the Snapdragon Inn is Continental. There is fresh fruit, homemade cereals and granola, locally made yogurts, farm-fresh eggs, and other goodies. Another reviewer noted the continental breakfast as less than stellar, and certainly less than having a full homemade breakfast, but I have to disagree as this one features so many homemade and locally made & farm-fesh items...I found it to be quite impressive for "continental." The Inn features a coffee and tea station 24 hrs per day. There is also fresh fruit available to guests day and night. The Snapdragon Inn has a Spa on the premises, which, really, is just one of the rooms... BUT... it's a wonderful room! I took advantage of this room and had a "relaxation massage." My appointment was on-time, the massage therapist was friendly, courteous, and very respectful. My massage was incredibly relaxing! The spa pricing is standard for these types of services. Overall, our experience at The Snapdragon Inn was outstanding and we would recommend this Inn to anyone and everyone thinking of coming to this area. We've stayed at the Snapdragon Inn multiple times since they first opened. In fact, we had the honor of being the first to stay once the inn was officially open for business. I can't say enough about how the service, the amazing restoration, the beautiful rooms, and overall setting make for a wonderful getaway just a couple hours from Boston or NYC. The innkeepers were wonderful, and helped us get aquatinted with the area and made some great suggestions about what to do during our 2 day stay. Close to hiking, good food, or a great read (the library is so comfortable!) this place really is fabulous. If you like greasy breakfast for lunch, there's a great diner in town, otherwise you'll need to get out to other towns for diverse aka "nice" places to eat - but that's not the fault of the Inn. It's Vermont - you just might have to drive to the next town for some great dining. If you know that going in, no big deal. read more

I recently stayed at the Snapdragon Inn. I'd called last minute with uncertain check in/out dates as a family member was being transferred from a New Hampshire hospital to hospice care nearby. Tom went out of his way to help secure a room for me despite not knowing when I would actually arrive or how many nights I would need to stay. The morning our family member died, the inn allowed my family and I to use the dining room space as a meeting spot to work through some of the details for our next steps, even though I had checked out. They gave us unrequested privacy, and were very kind making us warm muffins and offering coffee/tea. Sad story aside, the inn itself is beautiful, dripping with interesting history, impeccably maintained, large comfortable rooms and delicious breakfast. I would HIGHLY recommend it. If I hadn't been staying for the purpose I was, I would say it is exactly the kind of B&B that provides unpretentious luxury and romance, would be a great stay for couples looking for a get away. read more

This Inn is gorgeous! They did a fantastic job with the renovation of this old house. The rooms are large with very comfortable beds and good heating/cooling systems. They also have wonderful TVs with blu-ray players. The owners are very kind and accomodating. A delicious continental breakfast with homemade goodies is available in the morning as well. read more

everything in Snapdragon is perfect - the location is right on a cute lake but at the outskirts of a little town, only 4 hours drive from NY. The inn itself is a beautiful house, exclusively furnished and very well maintained, with correct touches of luxury and the nicest inn keepers. The area offers many touring and dining options (don't miss Simon Pearce). Overall we couldn't hope for a better b&b experience. Highly recommended! read more

My husband and I stayed here for our wedding weekend and it was perfect! Pekka, the inn keeper, was hospitable and laid back. Very easy to work with. We had some wedding guests stay in the inn and even with all the commotion of family and friends stopping by on Saturday and Sunday morning, Pekka was understanding and ok with it. The grounds are beautiful! We hope to come back to do some hiking and exploring on the 20+ miles of trails behind the property and explore the lake. We also really enjoyed the breakfast. While there are no hot eggs served, the yogurt and toppings along with oatmeal and toppings were all so Vermont with many maple themed items. It's as good as a continental breakfast can get. read more

We really enjoyed our stay at the Snapdragon Inn. The rooms were a fantastic mixture of clean modern day design and the charm of an early 19th-century American home. We also appreciated the accommodations: flat screen HDTVs, WiFi, heated bathroom floors, claw foot tubs, and can't forget the L'Occitane products.
