Same story as many others: Reserved a Chase Street Properties apartment on September 8 for a stay planned in Baltimore on the weekend of Oct 7. The host, Gonzalo, confirmed my stay almost immediately after I messaged him with the details of my stay and itinerary. All was fine until less than a week before my trip, when Gonzalo suddenly cancelled my reservation with no explanation whatsoever. I messaged him to ask why - no response. I messaged him on Oct 2 and gave him the courtesy of waiting until Oct 4 to respond to my polite inquiry. He couldn't be bothered. Gonzalo and Chase Street Properties ruined my trip and didn't even have the simple human decency to tell me why. Don't let him ruin your trip - book with anyone else. For my part, I will be telling my story to the Baltimore City Council and the Baltimore City Housing Department, Johns Hopkins Hospital, as well as anyone else who will listen. I hope this is not a shady business but that is for the authorities to determine. read more

People like this are scum. Stay away. Accused me of being a scammer. All I asked for was comp for the dirty floors and getting put into unit with a broken AC. Then I brought up the other issues that I originally overlooked. For example, dirty toilet, lint left in dryer, my allergies from maybe dirty pillows or headboard, I didn't mentioned the dirty coffee machine I ran probably 4 times that still didn't put out clean water, also dusty fans, loose wingnuts on temp beds. He'll say I didn't contact him originally and he is right. I contacted his coworker Lorraine who has been my point of contact since day one, and he has never reached out. When nothing got handled for the AC or the dirty floors of the foyer or elevator I reached out to Gonzalo and still nothing happened. Just the Maintenance guy telling me they knew the AC was out, I shouldn't have been put in there as they were ordering parts. Plus the dirty floors and elevator wasn't their responsibility. It was the building maintenance and no one came for the entire stay. so we had to take the stairs to avoid the trash juice that was in the elevator. Definite extra inconvenience. He offerred me a $100 for the inconvenience. I thought about it, and I wanted my cleaning fee and asked for $200. He said I was trying to get a free night and I was a scammer. Then he flipped it on me saying my son broke his bed, but no, he doesn't keep up with his temp beds, I tightened them for you so it wouldn't happen again. Then he accused me for leaving it filthy. I am with a university. We reserved a deluxe apartment (sleeps up to six) for 5 female students attending a nearby conference. Through email and phone, I was guaranteed the apartment, and it was understood how many students would be staying in the apartment. After 10pm (guaranteed late check in was requested) when the first student arrived, she was given a one-bedroom apartment and was told their end showed we only reserved for one adult, so that's what they gave us. The original apartment would not be available. "Ty" with Chase Street was very rude with our faculty member who was traveling with our students. The texts were argumentative and dismissive. "Ty" would not answer my phone calls. We were told the only option was to just vacate and they would refund the remaining nights. We had to scramble the next morning to find a hotel within our budget. Not only were we never refunded by Chase Street, we were charged twice! "Ty" still will not answer phone calls or texts. We are disputing the charges. PLEASE do not book with Chase Street - directly or through Booking.com. read more

I have never had a worse experience than with Gonzalo and Chase Baltimore Properties. Upon arrival, we walked into an Airbnb that was NOT the one that we paid for (different address, layout, and number of beds) and reeked of cigarette smoke. We contacted Gonzolo who was extremely rude, & made excuses to our problems. He then told us to "get the f*ck out of his apartment" & that "he didn't want people like us on his property". He canceled our reservation immediately & told us we would never see our money back and would refute our claims. I was then contacted by his employee Lorraine to try to resolve the issue until she hung up on me after I voiced my concerns that this was not the Airbnb that we booked. Gonzolo then sent another of his employees to try to fix the issue. This employee confirmed that the Airbnb we paid for did not exist & that he had combined photos from multiple properties of his into one listing. He then emailed back to yell at us that we needed to get out of his property since check in wasn't until 3, even though we have multiple messages confirming an early check in. Lorraine had messaged me at 7am multiple days in a row confirming an early check in. Airbnb also called to inform us that Gonzolo was threatening call the cops for us "using his gas & toilet paper" which we never did. Luckily we were able to take photos and videos when we entered and Airbnb gave us a full refund as the listing wasn't even close to what we were expecting. This is your warning to never get an Airbnb with Gonzalo or his company Chase Street Properties Baltimore. His Google reviews and multiple complaints on the Better Business Bureau speak for themselves. If I could give zero stars, I would. read more

Be warned as other previous negative reviews are valid. I booked a property several months ago in preparation for my child's graduation. The day before arrival, the reservation was cancelled without reason and the property was listed for a higher price. I contacted Gonzalo but no response. This business practice is unethical and wrong but goes unnoticed since it cannot be reported on booking and vacation rentals since it was not completed. read more

I wish I could give them 0 starts. They are the most unprofessional and irresponsible people I ever worked with. If you are considering renting one of their properties DO NOT do it. They took our money a month in advance and the day before our moving date told us they rented the place to someone else even though we had a contact. They are working with cancer patients and the fact that they treat them like this in this stressful situation, is just absurd. Please do yourself a favor and stay away. read more

My fiancé and I were all set to go with an Airbnb rental for our wedding weekend and the reservation was cancelled by the host one week prior after we had reserved the space months in advance. Luckily, a refund has been processed, but we were given little notice to find a new place today. It looks like too that they are claiming the space is now open to rent those dates, after essentially cancelling our reservation. The worst rental story thus far. During the period of March 17 and October12, 2022 we rented a Chase Street Properties furnished apartment (with parking, utilities, and shuttle service; plus, it was pet friendly) at 39 West Lexington Street in downtown Baltimore MD. The apartment building, we were in, came with a 24-hour concierge, security and was very clean; we felt very safe at 39 West Lexington Street apartment building. The 39 West Lexington Street apartment was a great fit for our housing needs during our nearly seven months stay in Baltimore, MD. The apartment manager and shuttle driver for Chase Street Properties was Lorraine Jacobs, and she was FANTASTIC. Lorraine went above and beyond during our seven months stay. While I as in the hospital, Lorraine supported my wife scheduling transportation to and from the hospital so my wife could visit me; additionally, Lorraine assisted my wife with grocery shopping and if my wife needed anything. Lorraine was also great at providing emotional support to my wife while I was in the hospital. I would highly recommend Chase Street Properties, LLC for apartment living requirements. If you are thinking of booking here, DO NOT. They will take your money and run with it. I booked with them on may 31st for a convention in August, so that's well in advance, and they contact me less than a week before my trip to tell me that they've canceled my reservation and they are not giving me a refund. They claimed the reason was that my card is invalid. It isn't, I checked at my bank! They did not even give me an option to switch the form of payment despite the fact that I already paid them. I tried contacting them over the phone multiple times during business hours and they did not pick up, nor did they respond to my emails. My friends and I are now without any lodging for our trip. This is barely even a business; it is a SCAM and you should stay far away from these unprofessional crooks. read more

I made a reservation in one of their properties through airBNB over a month before I was supposed to start staying there. Two days prior to my stay, I received a call saying that the property would not be available on the dates that it was reserved. I requested that they cancel the reservation for me to get my refund and look for a different place, which did not happen, so I had to have airBNB forcibly cancel the appointment. I would keep an eye out for lack of professionalism with this company if you are thinking of doing business with them. read more

I really don't like leaving negative reviews, and would much rather give people the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, this is not one of those times...Six weeks ago I reserved an apartment from this owner for 5-day stay for an upcoming conference in Baltimore. I paid $788 using my credit card & received my confirmation email. All seemed well, looking forward to the trip, until a few days ago when I received the following sequence of emails [my thoughts in brackets]: email #1: "This reservation was never confirmed by our company!" - [Wait... what? The charge on my credit card & confirmation email from the owner 6 weeks ago seem to suggest otherwise. Also... is this really the best way to approach your customer about a reservation problem? Feeling confused] email #2: "The email sent was an automatic response but was never approved by chase street properties. Very sorry." - [Actually that's not how the VRBO system works. They do not send automatic confirmations. Apology appreciated, but probably should have been the focus of email #1. Feeling misled] email #3: "...we had not billed or charged your card." - [Although technically true, since the charge on my card shows up as from "VRBO/Home Away" and not "Chase Street Properties", its misleading. My card was most certainly charged, and those funds are controlled by you the owner, and not by VRBO. Now feeling cheated] email #4: "Not sure where the miscommunication had occurred but we require at 7 days minimum." - [Good to know... This is a perfectly valid reason not to accept my reservation 6 weeks ago (and really shouldn't have shown up in my property search), but is really a crappy reason to yank my reservation 3 weeks before my trip. Now pissed & wondering if I need to file fraud complaint] email #6: "You were refunded $664. Done." - [OK, at least this isn't a total loss for me. Still need to find another place to stay. Plus, through no fault of my own I'm $124 out of pocket. Fraud complaints in progress. Maybe I should just stick to hotels] Inexperience with VRBO strongly is suspected with this owner. Now I do understand that mistakes happen (miscommunication, double booking, apartment not available due to repairs, etc.), but how you respond to these situations, and how you treat your customers says a lot about the character of your business. I had a property reserved for August, (booked in February, yes 6 months in advance), confirmed and everything. 9 days before my arrival, I receive this email "Unfortunately this unit won't be available for the dates that you requested. Nothing was charged in the credit card that you provided. Very sorry for the inconvenience."...If I would have canceled at this point, I would have been charged nearly $300. It's completely unprofessional and leaves me in a terrible position considering I booked this for a convention I'm vending at. If they would have let me know it was unavailable at any point prior I could have found another hotel. Now, everything close to the convention center is booked or outrageously expensive. I'll never go through this company again, totally unreliable. read more

My father became ill and was admitted to Johns Hopkins. I reached out to Chase Street and they provided my brother and I a beautiful furnished apartment just down the street from Hopkins. Everything about the apartment, and the transaction was perfect. Highly recommended!! read more

My son needed a place to stay for three months in downtown Baltimore within walking distance to UM Medical Center and I'm so glad we found this company. He got a beautifully furnished one BR place on Light St. Everything is included and within the amount allotted for his per diem. Two TVs, cable and super fast wifi and a washer/dryer. Everything is newly remodeled, kitchen is well equipped and includes a dishwasher. The bathroom is beautiful with tile floors and shower and vanity with granite counter top. There is so much space, there are high ceilings and there are lots of Windows for a lot of natural light. The sofa folds out into a bed for when someone comes to visit It's centrally located and an easy walk to shopping and attractions. He didn't have a car here so it was nice not to have to pay more for a place that included parking. The agent we worked with, Lorraine, really went out of her way to make sure everything went well and responded quickly when needed. Overall, a really great experience. If I'm ever staying in Baltimore, this is where I'll be. read more
