I've been to mallards a few times now and always is amazing!…read more Our usual go to is the shrimp boil for two. This shrimp boil is some of the best in Minnesota that I've had! We've brought countless friends here to try it and it's a heafty feat! You get around 40 to 50 pieces of shrimp, around 10 things of potatoes, six things of corn, and sausage too... it's humongous. You really get your moneys worth! If I'm being honest I haven't tried anything else here but I can assume it's equally amazing! I'm really looking forward to coming back here in the summer and enjoying this on their outdoor patio. But so far really love mallards and will always recommend it as it go to spot for anything seafood related! At our most recent stop our waiter was kind gave us lots of recommendations and was quick to refill our drinks or ask if we needed anything throughout our entire experience. This goes for each time we've been here, the service has always been wonderful. I find it this location really unique and it sits on upscale while also being able to be casual. Thank you Mallards for a wonderful time!

The best thing I ate was the bang bang shrimp taco. Got it during happy hour. Shrimp was crispy and saucy. Had a nice lil spice to it. The crab cake was thin but still good. my son enjoyed his smash burger, the Tennessee spicy chicken sandwich was good but a little dry. Cajun shrimp with creamy corn risotto was ok, was t expecting so much risotto. The shrimp was cooked to perfection but risotto was a big too heavy. The jambalaya was lacking flavor and spice.

The inside is quite swank, featuring a pretty large bar area on the right when you first enter. We were there for a sit-down dinner, so we proceeded around the left to the counter to get a table. I noticed this place must have a decent loyal following because of the merch you could purchase there at the counter (tee shirts, hats, sweat shirts, etc)! It wasn't too busy despite it being Friday night, so we got a table right away. It was really hard to pick what I wanted off the menu because A LOT of the options looked deliciously tempting (just gonna have to go back), but I eventually decided on a shrimp pasta, and that was the RIGHT choice. Mmm, so good! And a decent portion for the price too, as I took half of it home in a to-go box. I was pleased by the speed at which they got our order ready, as well as how attentive the server was (my in-laws suck down iced tea like no one's business, but she managed to keep them topped off regularly). The parking lot is interesting, as it has above ground and underground parking (probably nice to have the option to go below during the snowy winters around here). It shares the parking lot with a grocery and some other things, which felt a bit cramped, but as I said, we happened to be there when it wasn't too crowded somehow.

Had an amazing early Saturday lunch/brunch. We already want to go back!…read more We were in the area and got there at around 11 AM on a Saturday. We knew they offered brunch from 10 AM to 2 PM on weekends. We asked if we could order from the lunch menu, and our server, Noel, said that would likely be fine, although they usually do not start serving lunch until noon. She went and got lunch menus for us, and it was not an issue at all. It was really nice of her to go above and beyond for us! We had not been to this restaurant before, and there were a few things on the lunch menu that we specifically wanted to try. We had backup choices from the brunch menu just in case. Any other server could have simply said, "No, we do not start serving lunch until noon." Instead, Noel was fantastic and made it possible for us to order from the lunch menu. We really appreciated her making the extra effort. The vibe of the restaurant is also really nice. It is quite large, and there are windows everywhere. All of the employees were incredibly kind and welcoming as well. The bathrooms were clean and had paper towels instead of only air dryers, which I appreciate. We started with the Crab Queso. I really enjoyed it, although not quite as much as my wife did. They describe it as queso, but it is really more of a hot, cheesy crab dip. The chips they serve with it were fantastic as well. My wife described it as the best crab dip she has ever eaten and a top-three queso she has ever had. We have had a lot of queso, so that is a pretty high bar! I got the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich at the Nashville Hot spice level. It was absolutely fantastic. It was not the best Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich I have ever had, but it was good enough to make me want to order it again. There was one slight mistake with my order. The sandwich comes with chips, and you can upgrade to fries or other sides for an additional cost. I told our server that the chips were fine, but when I got my plate, it came with fries, and there was an extra $1 charge on the bill. I did not complain because a dollar is not a big deal, and the fries were actually fantastic. However, it was still a small mistake since I did not ask for the upgraded fries. My wife got the Jambalaya and said she really liked it as well. I tried a little and enjoyed it, but I do not think Jambalaya is really my thing. They have a few locations around the Twin Cities, and we already want to go back to one of them. I want to try their Nashville Hot Chicken and Waffles, along with several other items on the menu. There were also several appetizers that sounded great. They do charge a credit card service fee, but it was not nearly as much as I have seen at other establishments. It looked like it was only about a $2 difference compared with paying cash. Normally, this is something that really irks me. I generally deduct a star when restaurants pass credit card fees on to the customer. However, the customer service, food, atmosphere, and overall experience made it impossible for me to give them anything other than five stars. Absolutely fantastic. Check this place out!

Continually amazing!…read more We stopped in here the other night for the tried and true fish and chips. O'Brien's Public House always has some of the best fish... however you like it. My husband got the fish tacos for the first time and loved them.. It was a really healthy portion and even had some leftovers. I stuck with my favorite, the cod & chips, these are always amazing! Our server was very friendly and it was a pretty slow night but great service overall. Can't wait to stop back again and enjoy even more food!

However today has caused me to give O'Brien's one star and believe me if it were possible I'd give them -1. I was supposed to meet six of my friends here today for St Patrick's Day. Our car got struck and we did not arrive until 1 1/2 hours late. We were so late that we would have just had a drink had we known there was a time limit on the table BUT our waitress, Addison 8, did not mention this and took our meal order leisurely. Just after we were served she announced to the table that we all had to leave in 15 minutes. I said I assumed it did not apply to us as we had not even started to eat. she told us it applied to all of us. She told us if I was not happy about this I could speak to the Manager. I told her I would like to. then she said I could speak to her instead but I told her I wanted to speak to the Manager. No Manager ever materialized. I probably will never go to this restaurant again. I know times are tough and I don't object to time limits on tables BUT if a customer is very late the least a server should do is let them know there is a very limited time left for them to eat BEFORE they order $70 worth of food and drinks. I will be sure to mention this matter to my friends and as I have stated i will make sure I give my other regular restaurants the business I gave O'Briens. '

Toward the end of the tour there is a area they let you take photos. Over all a great hour spent. The gift shop is not huge and overwhelming. You can get stickers, mugs, shirts, key chains, and LPs (records for you younger readers) I opted go for the umbrella that the drops on it turn purple in the rain. If you find yourself in the area make your way over.
