When we stopped in for lunch, there was only one other diner in the restaurant, but don't let that fool you. If you're in the area, this spot is worth a visit. Chat & Choo offers an interesting American-Thai fusion menu that combines familiar comfort foods with unique twists. One surprise favorite for me was the spinach and mozzarella spring rolls. I didn't realize I needed those in my life, but they were absolutely delicious. Such simple ingredients, yet they worked perfectly together. I ordered the Pad Thai, which was very good. My friend went with the breakfast steak, eggs, and grits, along with a colossal-sized pancake. He couldn't stop talking about how much he enjoyed his meal. What really stood out, though, was the customer service. Even if the food had been average, Grace's professionalism and warmth would have made the visit memorable. Too many restaurants overlook the importance of greeting guests properly, checking on them throughout their meal, and making them feel appreciated when they leave. Grace did all of those things effortlessly. I had never heard of Chat & Choo before this visit, but I'll definitely be returning with friends. Change she was one of my favorite places to go for work lunches. It's a great atmosphere in a private setting if you're looking for it. I love the whole vibe of the place. The service and staff are fantastic. I have a gluten intolerance so they are very good at accommodating for food restrictions. The train does drive-by, and there's a brief moment where they train horn blows and it's relatively loud, but the building itself is well insulated. So it doesn't disturb your meeting. read more

We have been looking for a dependable dining experience between Atlanta and Birmingham, and so glad to have found it! This restaurant is full of genuinely helpful and eager service personnel, a super fun and funky ambiance, and surprisingly great food dishes--specifically the Thai food. As people who lived in Seattle for a long time, my family can guarantee the Thai quality. We haven't found much actually spicy food in the South so far (compared to Texas or East Asian spice) but the spice levels here are legit. If you are in the mood for a good old-fashioned country style brunch, then this is the place for you. When we arrived, we were promptly greeted. The staff is absolutely amazing! We were immediately approached by the server once we sat down. She was extremely friendly as a matter of fact, everyone who worked there was really nice. I ordered the Brioche French toast with a side of bacon, eggs, and potatoes. Everything arrived at our table, fresh, hot, and very delicious. I have absolutely zero complaints. She kept our cups full. My partner ordered the Big Ol' pancake and was unable to finish it. It was definitely large. She said it tasted really good and was very fluffy! I visited Chat & Choo on an overcast Friday afternoon in July with a work colleague. McKenzie(sp?) was our server. We were welcomed warmly and invited to seat ourselves. I ordered salmon and made a special request for the seasoning. My sides were collard greens and sweet potato fries. My friend had the pimento cheese and bacon sandwich and mac and cheese. The restroom was clean and stocked with all the requirements (If they're looking for a way to renovate a bit, they can scrape and resurface the fun checkerboard tile). The food was really good!! The ambiance is just right for a downtown area with wood floors, funky tile entry, and exposed industrial look. My one teeny criticism is the view on the walk to the bathroom of that back room; maybe clean up all the chaos back there or drag a long curtain across that area. Music was good and not too loud. I understand it was on mother's day but when your able to set down right away and it take forever to get a drink order than a meal order without any mention of them being busy you expect things to be better than what you get. But all you get here is subpar food that took well over an hour to get when people that came in 45 minutes after you ordering more complex food getting theirs before yours. At the end of the day not so much as a fuck you. The only thing that was delivered fast was the check. This is probably a funny way to start a review, but the place was extremely clean, even way above our heads in the ceiling. In my experience with diners and cafes similar to this, cleanliness isn't high on the priority level when it comes to all the decor and items above your head. Even the ceiling fans were clean. Our server was extremely friendly and polite. We both had breakfast and it was solid food. Nothing extraordinary, but good. My friend had a ham and cheese omelette which was simple, but good. I had 2 eggs, potatoes, toast, and a sausage patty. The sausage had good flavor and was cooked well, not too greasy. The eggs and potatoes were good, but they didn't really have any flavor. I used salt and pepper which was fine. It was an overall decent breakfast. It was interesting to me as we were there during the cross over between breakfast and lunch that no one came in for lunch. We called the order in around 10 am and mentioned it would be picked up by 11:30. Our food was ready by then! Plenty of parking at 11:30am. Two of the staff ordered the Cajun duck breast with raspberry sauce ($15.75)they both enjoyed it and would give it 4 stars. Another co worker and I ordered the grilled dill weed rubbed salmon ($12.75) with sides such as cucumber salad, baby Lima beans and mashed potatoes. The salmon unfortunately didn't have much flavor, the cucumber salad was just pickled sliced cucumbers and onions. Another co worker ordered the chicken bacon cheddar jalapeño ranch sliders with crinkled French fries ($11.75) she enjoyed hers as well. This is such a lovely homey restaurant next to the train tracks. The service was great here. Everyone is kind and friendly. The coffee was nice and light which is how we like it. I didn't want anything too extravagant for breakfast, just somewhere to chat and chill next to the Choo and enjoy lol. I will say that they make the sausage gravy from scratch because this was the first time I've had sausage gravy with actual fresh sausage pieces in it. Loved that about my breakfast. I saw the cake on display and had to get a slice to go. Maaaaan this cake is absolutely delicious! We ate a late lunch at Chat & Choo. My wife had the Ruben with tater tots and I had a bacon Cheeseburger with "drunken" pinto beans. Our food was wonderful. The bacon was very tender. The staff was kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. The attention to small details like adding a second napkin to the silverware roll and having the soft drink I wanted even though it was not on the fountain was super impressive. The Rueben was good but the blt was great. I had had fried green tomatoes at other establishments and hated them. I took a chance and was rewarded for it. Good food, great service, very homey restaurant, the first time I came here I got biscuits n gravy, which was great, and we've been back a few times since. But now, for some reason, they stared charging $1.25 fee if u use ur credit card. This doesn't sound like much, but the last time I went in, my meal was around $10.50, I tipped about 20% ($2), then got hit with with what works out to be an 11% transaction fee. So my little $10.50 breakfast actually cost $13.75. I know the owner had cancer, but do a Go Fund Me, or Sell Merch, or just raise ur price, because jacking people like this is not how you should pay for ur treatments. read more

I had the dill rubbed salmon, which was great and fried green beans. The green beans were crunchy and not the least bit greasy. My husband had the Dukes of Hazard burger, which was HUGE! I eat lunch here often because I really don't have a lot of options that have decent food quality. The waitresses are very attentive and do a fantastic job. The food is better than average and very consistent. I love the breakfast as well but the restaurant is often closed at breakfast time and there is not a breakfast schedule you can count on. Met with family here and was pleasantly surprised with everything! We arrived at 11:00 am and was denied breakfast, but were for the most part very pleased with our lunch choices! Our aunt thought her chicken fried steak breading was a bit too tough, but the rest of us had no complaints. :) The decor and ambience was charming and the service was good too!
