Tried Jerry's Country Kitchen and overall it's a solid country kitchen, good portions, fast turnaround, and that classic "regulars" atmosphere. The food was comforting and satisfying, and the service was friendly and attentive. Only reason I'm not going 5 stars is because one small detail could be tighter. Their chicken fried steak and eggs dish was bland. No flavor at all. Accompanied with hash browns that were bag frozen and bland as well. Zero flavor on this dish other than the eggs. Fantastic and filling diner breakfast!! This place is busy and I can see why. What I ordered was very simple, but it was made just right. I enjoyed 2 eggs over easy with hash-browns, crispy bacon and toast. The eggs were cooked perfectly, which doesn't always happen in my experience at local diners. The bacon was so flavorful and crispy just like I asked. The hash browns had a nice crispy top. The people with me had enormous omelettes and a biscuit with their meals that was huge and very fluffy. Looking around, portions were very large. I saw pancakes bigger than a dinner plate and full plate of biscuits and gravy. The restaurant was clean and well stocked. Service was attentive and the servers were helpful and kind. Even Jerry, who I assume is the owner, came out and chatted with each table making sure their food was good. #1, I hate being lied to, I tried to order breakfast, it was 11:25. The waitress told it would be a looong time (40 mins) on the cook time, even for the eggs. So, I order lunch, there was another guy who sat down after me and ordered breakfast, he ended up getting his breakfast before I got my lunch plate. Don't ordered the Cole slaw, it was horrible, the chicken was your basic tasting chicken, no seasoning in the flour, it a shame, it was a huge piece. The green beans were best thing on the plate, even though they were canned. This is my first and last time coming here. I have read many rave reviews for Jerry's but I went at lunch time. I am sure it is good for breakfast but lunch leaves a lot to be desired. It was on a Friday and I really expected fish but instead I got a roast beef which is what I call pot roast without gravy or vegetables. I got field peas that were good but the rest was not. My husband and I were dining at Jerry's this morning when a disagreement occurred between a customer and the staff. I want to preface that I believe the customer to have been in the wrong when this disagreement began. She was upset that she had been waiting so long for pancakes, and she wanted to leave without her food. There were some members of staff who at first tried to dissuade her ("but what will we do with your food?"), reinforced their policy about pancakes ("pancakes take a while to cook and we have a notice in our menu"), or make a suggestion ("next time, give us a call ahead of time if you're in a hurry"). All of which I felt were valid responses to the situation. Clearly, this woman was frustrated about waiting so long but not excessively so. What really disappointed me was how one member of staff chose to handle the situation. He told her to leave immediately (which is originally what she was trying to do) and never come back then proceeded to hold the door open as he pointedly looked at a coworker and said, "Call the police." I was stunned. The customer was a black woman, and the situation was a misunderstanding and disagreement between her and the restaurant staff. Nothing worth calling the police over. Like I said before, it was obvious she was frustrated from having to wait 30-40 minutes for her pancakes, but she wasn't yelling or harassing staff. She wasn't committing any crimes. The escalation of this staff member felt very racially charged. When my husband and I were paying before leaving, the same staff member was at the register. He brought up the situation in conversation, so we took a moment to express our disappointment and disapproval of the threat to call the police. In truth, my husband did call him an idiot. However, my husband dedicated 13 years of his career in law enforcement. Not only is it a waste of everyone's time to call the police to babysit the fact you have no customer service skills, it's absolutely racist to use the police as a threat to anyone person of color to get them to do what you want. I don't believe our specific police department would have put anyone in danger, but that's not the point of this complaint. This man was white and this woman was black. The threat of police was used for what? The man told us that he just wanted to get the woman to leave. That's not how you do it. This woman wasn't causing any issue other than being a bit aggravating because she was unhappy. That's any kind of customer service work! People are not always going to be happy with their experience. That's where customer service skills come into play. This woman did not deserve the way this man treated her. The situation was eventually smoothed over by one of the other members of staff who also happened to be a black woman, and the customer left with her food. I could tell our expression of disapproval went through one ear and out the other. My husband and I left, and we won't be coming back. The food was fine. Human decency was non existent. read more

Glad to have stopped by Jerry's one morning when craving a filling breakfast. There are plenty of options, even for a pescatarian like me! Ordered a cup of orange juice, one pancake, two scrambled eggs, each with hoop cheese, and some grits. The pancake takes 15 minutes, and is indicated on the menu as such. Devoured the whole meal, everything tasted great and was well cooked! The pancake tasted like a giant (GIANT!) vanilla wafer. I ate it with jam and butter and added some hot sauce to my eggs. We were probably the only non regulars there; a lot of customers felt like family. It was nice to see so many people devoted to a breakfast joint on a Tuesday morning! This place is your typical meat and 3 diner, thats where comparison ends. The best food and service, I've seen years. The owner Jerry still works at 93. I had the Little Messy and it was more than I could eat, portions on everything were outrageous. That usually means not so good, but here food was fantastic. The service was amazing, by people who offered you service and you knew they were happy doing it. The biscuits were better than I've ever eaten, my mama wish she made biscuits like that.
