Tried to eat dinner here. Arrived at opening last night. Was sent to booth 2 and that's all the service we received. Sat for 15 minutes with no menu, no one even coming by our table. Tables around us were given menus, drink orders taken and orders taken while we waited patiently. I finally asked a waitress for menus. Didn't welcome us or say she would be back for our drink orders. Another 15 minutes and still nothing so my husband suggested leaving. Two of us stopped for a burger and a sandwich around 7:00 PM. Plenty of customers, although many empty tables too. Waitress placed us and took our drink order immediately. She returned with our drinks and took or food order. A sandwich and a single burger took about 40 minutes to reach our table. We sat and watched as new customers arrived and many were having hot food served to them in maybe 5 minutes after their drinks were served. Large groups too. I had the smash burger. Wasn't a true smash burger at all, but it was okay. The included fries were God awful. I tried one fry and abandoned the rest. Ambiance was just okay. Prices were not expensive. The restaurant is very clean. The waitresses are amazingly nice. they have a wide range of food from seafood to Mexican and run some amazing daily specials as well. Definitely worth a visit. I ordered the chicken and dressing and unlike most restaurants that just give you a pile of dressing with shredded chicken. This place is a little bit of a drive for us, but we'd drive twice that far to go here. Everything we've tried has been amazing. Smash burgers, sandwiches, country cooking....peach muffins! My husband and I went to eat here for the first time and enjoyed HUGE, FLAVORFUL steaks! And I mean top quality steaks. Truly melt in your mouth! We also enjoyed sides of Mashed potatoes, fried okra (some of the best crispy breading we've had), and the cheesteak egg rolls. The peach cornbread was tasty and the sweet tea was just the right amount of sweet before it gets to diabeetus in a glass! I can't wait to go back. My waitress was amazing and we got to meet the owner as it wasn't too busy when we went. She was very personable and we got to hear a little bit of her story which we always love. My family met here for my sons 30th birthday. The restaurant is in the middle of nowhere but worth the 50 minute drive. The food was hot and fresh and plentiful. The prices were very reasonable. My Shepards Pie was only $10.95. We were blown away by the portion sizes, lets just say you get your moneys worth! We have been hearing about this place for awhile and decided to take the drive from Carrollton. We were greeted nicely and told to sit anywhere. What was left of a seat cushion that was so filthy and disgusting, who could eat! I sat on the edge away from black hole. Should have left immediately but was too curious about food. Only giving 2 stars due to the excellent waitress we had. I ordered pork steaks but as they were out of those I got the 12 oz. Ribeye, hands down the worst cut of steak I have ever had. When 2/3 of the steak is fat it is pretty bad, not to mention it didn't taste very good. And to top it off when I asked about the manager informed me that they hand cut their steaks. About an hour wait and the food was absolutely horrible. Got years worth of sodium intake in the couple bites I had before I couldn't eat any more. The green beans were cold and extremely salty, actually somewhat slimy as well. Okra was like eating a salt cube. Catfish was overly breaded, over cooked and guess what... salty as the Salton Sea. Yes yes yes! Listen from the time you walk in to the time you are rolled out you will love it! The welcome to my home feeling you get is what makes this place unique. The team that works here are attentive and pay close attention to detail! Oh and Let me tell you the serving sizes are right on point as well. Hold on to your hats for a really great experience here! Everything super fresh and you definitely taste the love of the artists preparing the food! I'll start with my only complaint, the chips served with the dip are to delicate for the amount of dip you will instinctively try to pick up with them after your first taste! Very creative dishes by the husband and wife owners who came from a bake shop background and it certainly shows with the cheese cake we had. Heavy and not so sweet NY style that pairs so well with coffee they should just come together. Appetizers were both nothing I've eaten, or even seen, before and delicious takes on traditional spinach dip and egg rolls using greens instead of spinach and steak sandwich style beef in the Philly egg rolls ! The steaks were cooked perfectly as ordered, both properly medium rare, excellent flavour and as tender as sushi tuna! All vegetables were fresh like local grown never frozen. My wife and I went there for the first time this past Sunday for lunch. She had the hamburger steak, mashed potatoes w/gravy, and green beans. She said the steak was the best she has had anywhere and the potatoes and beans were excellent also, expertly seasoned. I had the fried catfish, collard greens (they call it swamp cabbage on the menu), and coleslaw. I had ordered an extra side of their hand-cut fries also which the waitress didn't bring out initially because there was no room on the platter. But when I saw the huge size of the two catfish filets, I canceled the fries, as there was no way I would have been able to eat them with the amount of food on the platter. I have eaten a ton of catfish over my 70 years, and I prefer whole over filets, but I have to say that was the best catfish I have ever eaten. It had an incredibly crisp and well seasoned crust with the moistest, most perfectly cooked fish ever. It's hard to get that kind of crust without overcooking the fish, which is a sin in cooking seafood. The collards were also the best I have had at a restaurant,seasoned and cooked perfectly. They served my fish with a very tasty tartar sauce as well. The slaw was good, but nothing spectacular like the rest of the meal. I forced myself to finish the two huge catfish filets because they were just so good. A lady walked through displaying an apple crumb cake and peanut butter pie that they make in house (I understand the husband and wife owners formerly ran a bake shop). We couldn't resist getting a piece of the pie to take home, which we split for our dinner that night as we were still stuffed from lunch. It had Reese's peanut butter cup pieces on top! Such a disappointment, did not live up to the reviews. We both ordered the filet mignon French dip sandwiches with French fries. The sandwich looked nothing like the picture online. Couldn't even tell what the meat was, I think it was the dark crunchy substance in with the onions and the overpowering taste of garlic on the bread. The French fries were mushy.
