I ordered a breakfast of 3 eggs, grits, toast, corned beef hash, and coffee. The corned beef has was over cooked to the point of being crusty. I didn't notice that immediately. When my server came back several minutes later, she asked how my breakfast was. I pointed to the corned beef hash's burned side and mentioned they. No apology offered. She asked with indifference if I wanted them to remake them. I said yes. She said it'll be a bit. I told her never mind, I don't have time. She said ok and walked away. At the register I was asked if everything was good. I said no. I was asked what was wrong. I said the corned beef hash was overcooked and crusty. She asked if I told my server. I said yes. She then gave me the total due without even offering to remove the burnt food. This food was seen by the cook and server at a minimum and nobody cared from those two moments till I paid. read more

Went in for some home cooking comfort food recommended by my Dad. Ordered the chicken fried chicken which the waitress said was breaded/prepared in house unlike the chicken fried steak. They have daily weekday specials. My meal came with a choice of two sides, for which I chose mashed potatoes w/ brown gravy and creamed corn. Meals come with choice of cornbread or rolls and we ordered a mix of the two. The mashed potatoes were great as was the tasty brown gravy. Creamed corn was sweet, but I should have ordered a different veggie. The best part of the fried chicken was the coating, which reminded me of Long John Silvers coating. The chicken itself was very rubbery, which is not the cooks fault, more like what waa fed/injected into the chicken pre-slaughter. My Dad ordered the chopped steak which I got to try and boy I sure regretted ordering my dish. It was so delicious and that gravy/onions upcharge was so worth it. Ambiance decor is referencing the times when gas lanterns and washing boards were used. Gold rush times. Plenty of comfy booth seating or tables. Service was good. read more

Prices were good, service was great, food was god awful. My biscuit tasted like the person was smoking a cigarette while they made it. My fried fish was undercooked. For ambiance, I would have been willing to look past all of the much needed upgrades and unorganized cashiers table and waiters shelves, if the food was good. It was not. For a place that relies heavily on word of mouth, I would not recommend anyone go here, which probably makes it a dying breed. Thats unfortunate, we need more mom and pop shops. read more

We shop next to this Restaurant, My Wife and i decided to look inside this TradingPostRestaurant, my wife said she didn't think they'd be a good tasting place, or have anything she could eat (She's Vegan) but we go inside, It looks old inside, But they have great food item she could eat, THE Fried CATFISH WAS AMAZING, THAT'S OUR GO TO IN THE AFTERNOON.. I've had better "southern, home cooked" breakfast. My wife ordered the Good Morning breakfast with a side of home fries. She asked for green pepper, onion and cheese on the home fries. These came without the cheese. These were basically thin sliced French fries with the skins on them. Her biscuit was very burnt and shouldn't have left the kitchen. Most servers would have seen this and asked for another. I had the western omelette. The ham was overcooked. I asked them to leave off the salsa, but it came with it anyway. The green peppers and onions were pretty scarce. The grits were okay. It's difficult to mess up grits. The coffee was good. The sweet tea was good. The atmosphere is very nice here. It's a clean restaurant with ample seating for the patrons that were here. The decorations have a nice country feel. Overall the menu is good with a number of breakfast, lunch and dinner options. If we come back, I'd like to try the corn beef hash breakfast option on the menu. read more

I like the atmosphere of this small joint. There's a very down home vibe and it's enjoyable. I picked up some dinner after learning they had meatloaf there (something my bf has been wanting.) I always see it packed when I drive by so I was excited to give trading post a shot! The staff was friendly despite me taking two years on the phone deciding what to order (haha) and there wasn't an awful wait to pick up my order so that was nice. Once I got home and opened the tray I was very disappointed to see the burned corn muffin and prayed the rest of the meal would be better. My bf ordered the meatloaf, collards, with Mac n cheese and said the meatloaf was pretty good- no commentary on what he thought about the other items except the "chocolate muffin" he had to throw out. Lol. I opted for the smothered chopped steak, collards, with Mac n cheese. Smothered chopped steak- delicious! It was a little dry but tasted like a big burger off of the bbq grill smothered In cheese and grilled onions (I ordered no mushrooms.) Mac n cheese- it was ok, quite creamy and rich but didn't give off the home baked Mac feeling. Moreso like a creamier Velveeta shells and cheese if I had to put my finger on it. Collards- I was so thrilled to hear they actually put meat in the greens. Other places have said the same and then I was sorely disappointed. Not here! Trading post put chunks of meat in the greens. I would've liked a little salt perhaps on them to boost the flavor as they had more of a slight sweet taste but they were overall pretty good. We arrived at 1pm on a Sunday. It was crowded. Now my wife's eggs were cooked perfect. Biscuit burnt and cold. Pancake cold. Sausage patty burnt and cold. My French toast was warm but edible. My hot links were so burnt on top, but I scraped them off and ate them. My advise never go on Sunday after church! read more

My husband and I like to support small businesses when we travel. This restaurant has that southern country charm. Located in a strip mall just off the interstate, we noticed labor workers, families and sweet elderly locals both heading in and out of its doors. We were greeted by at least three people as we were shown to our table. A large menu with lots of county cook'ed choices. Our waitress, Kaylyn was pleasent and helpful. Our experience this time around was better than our last visit. :) The waitress realized the toast was anemic so returned it and had it retoasted. Honestly pretty impressed! I've avoided trying this place because of the reviews not being too hot, but ultimately decided to order it to go last week and was not disappointed! Excellent choice ! Every time I visit my parents in Georgia I have to make a trip to the Trading Post for some awesome southern style cooking! Absolutely love the meat with 2 sides plate dinner all freshly made . Be sure to try the cobbler with after dinner coffee , perfect ending to a homestyle plate diner. Trading Post is a hidden gem. It's doesn't appear as much from the strip mall entrance, but when you go inside reminds of local restaurants I loved as a child growing up in Georgia. Looking forward to visiting again. read more

We ordered the chicken fried chicken with cream corn and carrots. The cream corn tasted like uncooked flour and had no taste. The carrots had no seasoning and tasted old. The only reason they are getting 3 stars is because the chicken was perfectly fried with a good flavor, and the gravy was nicely flavored as well. read more

My waiter Heather was the best! I go for all u can eat Crab Legs every Saturday now because of her quick service and attention to detail. Our drinks were refilled without asking, servings of Hot crab legs kept pouring out the kitchen we never had an empty table waiting. (Like some other places). They have different specials ever day. Gotta try the pork chop. Food is amazing. Never tried the salad bar. Good for take out too - just make sure you check your order before you leave. No sense of urgency, but it's what you expect for a southern diner type. read more

First time here and it was great! I feel like I just stopped by my grandma's for supper! All the people were super nice and friendly. The only complaint I have is the breading on the fried green tomatoes was too thick for my liking. I had the fried catfish po boy and the fish was perfectly fried. Came with my parents for dinner I stared with the Buffalo wings app they were bland and watery not good at all and I got the cheese burger with home fries for my meal and first thing my burger was cooked medium just how I ordered it but the burger was bland and that's not the worst park the fries were horrid bland undercooked and swimming in greace I will never be back read more

Myself and my family went to the Trading Post Cafe for Father's Day. This will be our last trip there. Service was horrible and our waitress couldn't be bothered that three of the five meals were extremely burned. When we brought it to the waitress's attention she never apologized. She only said " she doesn't work in the kitchen". When we ordered something else, in place of the inedible food once we finally got that food some of it was also burned and inedible too. The waitress, never once apologized for anything. It was a horrible experience all around and I suggest you go anywhere but here for food. read more

We stopped by here about a year ago after hearing rave reviews from an acquaintance. We usually love non-chain restaurants and looked forward to trying it. It was not busy since we went after the lunch rush. There were quite a few tables that needed bussing so we chose a booth with a clean table. We sat for several minutes until our waitress came by. When we asked her to wipe the table, because it was not, obviously, clean, she gave us a bit of an attitude, like why isn't it clean enough for you. I guess she wasn't happy having to go find a rag to do it. I ordered the fried chicken breast. It was pink in the thickest part but I didn't want to irritate our waitress anymore, so I pushed it around the plate and said nothing about it. My dining companion said his food was ok, but not hot, nor any flavor. We decided to cut our losses so we paid our bill and left and haven't been back, nor plan to eat there again. read more

This was a destination location over 5 years ago when I lived in Villa Rica and I'm happy to report it has only gotten better. We had a large gathering of family (over 30) and met there for breakfast. Not once, not one single time, did anyone working there make a single gesture or utter a word of inconvenience about the size of our party. They were friendly, engaging, and diligent. the service was excellent and the food fresh and tasty.
