But the real gem was the eclectic food choices, we had the Sin appetizer with pita bread and my wife had the cobb salad topped with pulled pork, fried green tomatoes, black eyed peas and so much more. I ordered a bowl of Brussels sprouts: goat cheese, raisins, balsamic glaze OMG! And it was so much. I shared with my son and sent some home to his girlfriend. Our entrees were salad. Mine was salmon, greens, goat cheese, strawberries, blue berries. Balsamic glaze, pickled red onions, and raspberry vinaigrette. The salmon had a grill flavor. I'm so accustomed to flavorless salmon. It was a treat. And definitely two portions. Son tried an Asian shrimp salad. He left no crumbs and loved the dressing. We had faux-jitos. They were awesome. Finally, we had beignets. I have to admit, I was a little skeptical when a client referred this place. Something about the name just seemed a little turnoffish, but I tried in nonetheless. The seating could be better. It's very neighbor friendly. The server was nice though, and even though they were busy we got our food in under 10 minutes. The drinks were on point. I had one of their watermelon sugars and a banana cream pie. Divine! For food, Bison Burger $17.50 8 oz Bison patty, grilled mushrooms, swiss cheese, bacon aioli on brioche bun. The bacon aioli was everything and then some. I can't say the best eatery that I have had in Carrollton, because this is the first one I have ever gone to, BUT, I can without a shadow of a doubt say, that the other restaurants better bring their A game, becasue this place already has an A+ in my book. read more

I was in the Carrollton area for work and looking for something unique and this place was suggested! I was expecting your standard bar or pub food, burgers and fries, and was pleasantly surprised with the creative and diverse menu! I was not expecting salmon, steak, and fun sandwiches! Its not a huge place and it was pretty busy for a Monday night, our group of three got a table right away. Our waitress was so friendly and helpful when we had questions for certain menu items. I got the Susan Hayward Salmon Salad, perfect for the hot day. The salmon was fantastic and well cooked. I loved the fruit and pecans paired with the raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Went for a late lunch on Friday. Was busy but was seated right away. Sat outside as we had out dog. Our waitress took our drink order in good time. Ordered our meals upon her return with drinks. Our food took moderate amount of time to get out. My wife ordered She Crab Soup and side salad and I had the Wicked Brisket sandwich with collards. The salad was simple with lettuce, cheese and chunks of red onion. Her soup came in a wide bowl with pieces of crab sprinkled on top. She said everything tasted good. My sandwich had lots of flavor from all the ingredients and was messy to eat with everything oozing out. The collards had good flavor and tender but were salty. Service was ok, checked on us once, had to flag down for refill of sweet tea. The value of meal was ok. Parking is not on property, its on street or down street in a lot. read more

Best restaurant in Carrollton! We were seated almost right away, we wanted to sit outside so we had to wait a few minutes so they could clear a table. Every employee was so kind and asked if we had been helped. My mom has a pork allergy and we asked if her cheeseburger could be cooked in a different pan, our waitress was unsure at first but after talking to the chefs she came out and said they would do it. The food was so good. The potato salad was the best potato salad I've ever had. The sweet potato fries with honey were so unique. The side salad was huge! We came here on a Sunday for a late lunch after a hike ran a bit long. The nav-app assumed we could park on a street that has recently been closed to traffic. However, we were able to park in a large lot about a block away (associated with a big textile museum?). I assume there are other public parking options nearby (aside from street parking). The restaurant is about a block south of the town square in Carrolton. There are quite a few other restaurants in the immediate area. We got seated promptly and, since it was a nice afternoon, we opted for patio seating. Our server was efficient and got the food out in a reasonable time. I had a burger which I liked (maybe more than usual as I was extra hungry). My wife had some sort of wrap which she liked also. They had an extensive bar as well, but we didn't opt for drinks. I was traveling to Florida kinda of taking my time, and heard about this little place and knew I had to check it out, and it did not disappoint at all! The downtown area is so charming and it's all right there together. So you can walk around and visit different shops. There is a stage next the Brown Dog and you can see shows on the stage. Just bring in lawn chairs, order your food and you have dinner and a show! The food I tried was amazing - the owner suggested some items I had not tried before, so I did try something new. It's been a while ago, so I'm not sure what I had, but it surprised me that I liked it! Lol We do go to Florida every few years, so it will be a stop on our on our next road trip. read more

I enjoyed a dinner at Brown Dog while in town for business. It was all so delicious! Fried green tomatoes, the fig and pig sandwich. Portions weren't too big but I still couldn't eat it all. All I can say is that this is a neighborhood gym and I will make the hour's drive to come back. Great ambiance, staff, drinks and food. The only complaint I would have is the chairs (metal) aren't super comfortable. However, they fit the place and are probably designed so I won't stay and talk so long. Loved it. read more

We were passing through Carrollton on our way home from a fishing trip in West Point and were hungry for something that wasn't fast food. Took a chance on Brown Dog and hit the jackpot. We live over an hour away but will definitely come back for date night soon! Everything we ate was delicious, but also checked all the boxes that compels someone like me, who has never left a review, to create a yelp account and type out this review. We started with a cocktail & appetizer that our server Madison suggested. The cocktail was amazing (something with blackberry, don't remember the name lol), and the brussels sprouts appetizer (who knew goat cheese, dried cranberries, and bacon would turn a classic roasted veg with balsamic into crack) was the best I've ever had, even compared to some from the best rated restaurants in/around Atlanta. We figured we had probably tried the best thing on the menu and we were just hoping to share a good burger and sandwich. My husband's burger and my Salmon BLT surpassed our expectations. His Austin Popper burger was cooked to perfection with a jalapeño/cream cheese sauce that I will dream about (iykyk) . My Salmon BLT had pimento cheese, fried green tomatoes and pepper jelly, and it was absolute perfection. It's so rare to leave a restaurant feeling like something couldn't have been a little better, but we both left talking about how the flavors and textures of the food, along with the atmosphere and service were exceptional, as well as reasonably priced. Our server, Madison, gave awesome recommendations and was attentive and added that special touch that results in a perfect dining experience. Love the large metallic letters on the wall that read- Sit, Play and Eat. Very popular restaurant so luckily there were two seats available at the bar. My husband and I quickly decided on the Santa Fe Chicken Wrap -chicken, corn, lettuce, black beans, bacon, Monterey Jack cheese, tortilla strips, pico with avocado spread on a floured tortilla. For dessert, i enjoyed a moon pie banana pudding - what a great addition to the traditional pudding. Amazingly delicious lunch. In town for just an afternoon and decided to give this place a go. The wait staff was friendly and attentive and added to our experience wonderfully. We were seated quickly and our waitress was knowledgeable about the food. If we asked am opinion about a dish, she gave it and gave why! She was spot on with our appetizer. We went with the Charleston Caviar. Pimento cheese with bacon jam served with warm pita bread. Holy mackerel it was delicious! I had the bam bam chicken sandwich with home fries for my entree. The sandwich was good. It was not as spicy as I would have liked but a solid choice. I enjoyed it. The fries were very good. I love home fries and these did not disappoint. They were a great balance of tender yet crispy. I could have eaten an entire plate of them! The restaurant is in an old building downtown and I could not help but wonder its history.
