I've been an owner for several years and it's well worth it. Every year you get a free pumpkin and tomato plant among other perks such as discounts! They have a great selection of vegan items in the grocery area. The employees are always great and super helpful and kind. Plenty of parking and lots of outdoor areas to sit and eat. I come here a few times a month for the Deli sandwich. I have an Avocado, Sprout, Cheese, Lettuce, jalapeno's, Roast Turkey. They make it up special for me. You will love the people that work here. They are happy and ready to help you with any questions. They do offer local organic produce and many other healthy items. If you care what goes into your body, this is the place to in in Pittsboro. Of course you will pay a little more for these items, but it is well worth it. Memberships are available to the Co-Op. read more

This healthy grocery is a great addition to the Pittsboro scene in a lovely old mill building. Typical of similar coop grocers in the area and even though a bit on the small side, they have an ample and excellent selection and a strong community feeling from the employees to the customers. I really enjoy the large outdoor porch to sit back and relax with some local coffee or tea, maybe a hot breakfast item or healthy lunch sandwich, or even sit inside if the weather isn't good. It's easy to lose track of time and hang for a while cos it's just so darn laid back here! The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Nice to see local produce too!There's a beautiful garden surrounding the porch area and on Saturday morning's a farmer's market is in the front yard. read more

A lovely little co-op market with a wonderful selection of bulk foods, great local produce, organic and fair trade coffees, a good selection of wellness products, fantastic chocolate selection (very important!). The cafe has the best sushi around! Equally as good as sushi restaurants if you get there at lunchtime. You can join the co-op, but you don't have to and you still get to enjoy all of the great foods and the great porch to eat outdoors or meet friends. Was at Chatham Marketplace recently to pick up a few groceries and was blown away by their beer selection, especially local brews! I nabbed some Haw River Coffee Cream Stouts. I also like the Green Man Porter and the Highland Brewing Black Mocha Stout but CM has lots of other varieties as well. This grocery store is an awesome place for produce, local meats and cheeses, grab-n-go foods, other groceries, and wine and beer! And they are following the NC requirements for wearing of masks so be prepared - yay for being safe and taking steps to keep shoppers and staff healthy! read more

The wonderful wonderful Chatham Marketplace is a good old fashioned Co-Op which offers a full selection of organically and sustainably grown produce - as much as possible from local growers. Heading into/out of Pittsboro on Hillsboro, it is located in the giant old Chatham Mills, which is slowly being reinvigorated with local businesses. Beautiful, local produce health/community/environmentally centered inventory (loads of organic products), a great cafe and salad bar and a busy little patio to enjoy your lunch and the surroundings. read more

Stopped in here for lunch mostly out of convenience, expecting to get an okay sandwich. I have to say, the sandwiches we ordered were well above "okay", they were perfect and the staff was super friendly. We ordered the LGBT (lettuce, gouda, bacon, tomato) and it was an excellent rendition of the classic BLT. The tuna melt was also a substantial sandwich leaving little to be desired. The menu is short, but certainly better than having too many sub-par offerings. The outdoor seating was beautiful and quiet despite the folks seated around us. This might be my new favorite lunch spot. (And I look forward to a breakfast visit!) read more

Chatham Marketplace is a great addition to Pittsboro! With very friendly and knowledgeable staff the shopping experience is always a pleasure. I do have to say that, as an omnivore, I was a bit disappointed in the lack of meat and seafood that Chatham offers. The only shrimp is frozen and meat options are slim at best. They do have great seasonal produce that is extremely flavorful, as well as a diverse ethnic foods section where I was able to find majority of the fixings for Pad Thai (among other things). I would recommend a visit for anyone visiting Pittsboro, or those living here who haven't made the trip yet! read more

I don't live in Pittsboro, but when we visit family here (down from Baltimore) I am sure to make a stop here considering the other less reliable grocery suppliers nearby (Food Lion, Piggly Wiggly). What can I say, I want what I want, and Chatham Marketplace Coop has things such as local heavy cream (for my morning coffee), coconut oil, local (Pittsboro) honey, etc. I was pleasantly surprised on this visit today to find local grass-fed beef there as well. We've had the opportunity in the past to visit the seasonal farmer's market held on the front lawn, which was sparse but the goods were fresh and the farmers certainly were passionate about their craft. They offer regular garden tours of all of the things in bloom on the surrounding landscaped area as well, what they have growing is beautiful right now. Although it may be a smaller shop than a typical grocery, the Coop is doing good things, of this I am sure. read more

I'd give this place a 4.5 stars plus. The marketplace has almost all things we use regularly. Nearly every item in the store is organic. They don't have a large selection of items but what they do have is quality . Prices are a bit high, but you get what you pay for. The one area where I'd like to see improvement is their meat selection. It's pretty sparse. Aside from that they have a deli, a coffee, salad and dessert bar. They have a decent craft beer and wine selection. Also they have an entire aisle devoted to bulk items. Join the co-op and support local and small businesses. read more

This is really a gem of a place with personality, great selection and community feel. Located off 15-501 on your way into Pittsboro it can be easy to speed by but don't. Stop in and see for yourself. And try out the deli while you are there. I enjoyed the sandwiches and although it is small their selection is delicious. You can choose between sourdough, wheat or ciabatta bread. And the sandwiches are quite large using spreads like fra diavolo and pesto. And lets just say their tomatoes are out of this world. They have seating outside. We were visiting a place outside of Pittsboro on Labor Day weekend, we wanted breakfast on Labor Day and drove into Pittsboro and everything was closed. Somehow or another we ended up here and it was a blessing in disguise. We ordered the croissant sandwiches and the biscuits and gravy and some grits. When the gravy hit my mouth it brought me back to a time long ago from my youth, it was like walking through a portal of love. The country gravy was the real deal country gravy and was amazing, the grits were not from a paper package and were great as well, and the croissant sandwiches were pretty big and satisfying. The gentleman who made the food were very welcoming and warm. I will be eating breakfast here every time I pass through Pittsboro. read more

We love being members of the Chatham Marketplace. We don't do all our shopping here, but for quality bulk herbs, crafty beers, and good produce we don't like to go anywhere else. The market is built inside the old Chatham Mill, and is adjacent to Starlight Mead, Oakleaf restaurant, and convenient to downtown Pittsboro. It's more than a great place to shop: it's a great place. This is the best hippie mart in the Triangle. read more

We've made some day trips to Pittsboro, and this has been one of the stops a couple of times. It's not really memorable, but there's really nothing to complain about either. We have not tried the deli sandwiches yet but that's on our to-do list for one of the next times we visit. I wasn't a big fan of this place. I stopped in with some friends for lunch one Saturday, because the restaurant next door was closed. The place is rather small, and priced the way you'd expect a co-op to be priced. It didn't appear to have the selection that a place like Weaver Street Market might have. Since I wasn't there for groceries, though, all I can comment on was the meal. We were served a meatball hoagie, a pork belly sandwich, and a tuna salad sandwich. The hoagie was adequate, as was the tuna. The pork belly was odd (a huge slab of meat wedged awkwardly between two slices of bread) and not very palatable. While the meal wasn't terrible (pork belly aside), there was no one present who reported it as "good" either. Beyond that, the prices were a little on the high side for what you got. All in all, the staff was nice enough but the food was a big disappointment. read more

Love to invest my dollars in local businesses and co-ops. Just joined yesterday and I think it is great. They have delicious sweet potato and beet chips so it is great for those of us on the Paleo Solution. I am rooting for them and hope they do very well and are able to expand soon. The Marketplace is jewel in our quaint town of Pittsboro! It is a great venue all around (including a beautiful yoga studio). You can't find sushi anywhere else around and theirs is fabulous! All their items are made with local products - the coffee is wicked good as is everything in their deli. I love the fresh granola especially! read more

We used to frequent the cafe on Sundays for breakfast because of the good food and experience, but we won't return. Today when we were there we did not recognize any of the staff, and the food was underwhelming. They did not have lemon for water or tea, and even though they had hot sauce and Cackalacky sauce, when we asked for Siracha sauce, they said they were out even though there was plenty on the shelf in the market. This is poor customer service. Too bad they can't be like the COOP in Burlington. They are much better!! read more

Chatham Marketplace is a small market on the way into town in Pittsboro. It has a nice selection of healthy, organic foods and health care products. They offer some great local foods as well. They also have a breakfast/lunch counter and some of their sandwiches are excellent. It's a little pricey, but for the types of products they offer, it is in line with similar stores. read more

We love this market as it carries many vegan options close by, so we don't always have to trek out to Whole Foods. The produce is great (it's the ONLY place I buy avocado's as they are always perfect) and the local growers get a lot of their items brought into this store so it's always fresh and at it's peak. I stopped for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon with my husband while visiting Pittsboro. Was not very impressed. Hot bar wasn't operational so we opted the deli sandwiches. I felt sort of lost and confused as a new customer and when I asked staff for some guidance, they seemed bothered by me. Food was ok, definitely not worth the price (sandwich alone was $8). I much prefer our local Weaver Street market. Will likely not return. read more

I've gone into Chatham Marketplace almost every time I'm in town visiting my dad. A great little store with a decent selection, and I love the atmosphere. Their red pepper hummus made me fall back in love with hummus all over again. A great find in a place I didn't expect to find anything! read more
