a buffet with many different types of food

This healthy grocery is a great addition to the Pittsboro scene in a lovely old mill building. Typical of similar coop grocers in the area and even though a bit on the small side, they have an ample and excellent selection and a strong community feeling from the employees to the customers. I really enjoy the large outdoor porch to sit back and relax with some local coffee or tea, maybe a hot breakfast item or healthy lunch sandwich, or even sit inside if the weather isn't good. It's easy to lose track of time and hang for a while cos it's just so darn laid back here! The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Nice to see local produce too! There's a beautiful garden surrounding the porch area and on Saturday morning's a farmer's market is in the front yard.

Great beer selection at Chatham Marketplace

Was at Chatham Marketplace recently to pick up a few groceries and was blown away by their beer selection, especially local brews! I nabbed some Haw River Coffee Cream Stouts. I also like the Green Man Porter and the Highland Brewing Black Mocha Stout but CM has lots of other varieties as well. This grocery store is an awesome place for produce, local meats and cheeses, grab-n-go foods, other groceries, and wine and beer! And they are following the NC requirements for wearing of masks so be prepared - yay for being safe and taking steps to keep shoppers and staff healthy!

The wonderful wonderful Chatham Marketplace is a good old fashioned Co-Op which offers a full selection of organically and sustainably grown produce - as much as possible from local growers. Heading into/out of Pittsboro on Hillsboro, it is located in the giant old Chatham Mills, which is slowly being reinvigorated with local businesses. Beautiful, local produce health/community/environmentally centered inventory (loads of organic products), a great cafe and salad bar and a busy little patio to enjoy your lunch and the surroundings.

The poke bowls were OUTSTANDING! I hope they keep them on the menu! So fresh tasting. Great dressing. Priced well. Just right for dinner.

You can join the co-op, but you don't have to and you still get to enjoy all of the great foods and the great porch to eat outdoors or meet friends.

Super cute general store with a huge menu of options. They have sandwiches, pizzas, burgers, soups,…read morehomemade Mac and cheese and desserts. We walked around the store first. Tons of great drinks from the usual sodas in cans and bottles to some really cool imported sodas, beer and ciders. They also have a fountain with Puck's sodas which I tried and my husband chose a local beer from one of the coolers. The service was very friendly. Orders are taken at the counter and they brought our food to our table. We ordered off the specials menu so no guarantee the items we got will be available when you go. Everything sounded delicious and given this place has a reputation for being busy I would feel confident ordering anything knowing it is going to be great. I really enjoyed the whole vibe here. I will have to make it a point to come back again. It's about a 45 min drive from Winston but the drive is so beautiful it's totally worth it.

I'm beyond impressed that just about any food I try from here is amazing…read more I guess we are regulars for to-go orders (we rarely dine-in). It's our go-to when we're usually too exhausted to make dinner. The menu is huge and somehow everything I've tried is always SO GOOD. Like there are no weak spots?! Some solid favs my family has loved: linguine alfredo, bratwurst, fish and chips, brisket, chicken avocado salad (this might be my fav and it's HUGE), ANY sandwich (favs are the Italian and the duck bacon turkey club), and the pizza! Kids pasta is a fav of one of my kids and a super good deal. The cakes are also sooooo good (but year a little pricey at $8). Great beer selection, we usually just grab something in stock to take home. The kitchen is closed from 4-5PM (I'm usually calling in at 5:01 haha). The staff is so nice! I will say, once in a while, their estimated times can be way off. I'm okay with that though, the food is worth it. One other thing to be mindful of: On big event days (like when there is a show at the Haw River Ballroom), they run a limited menu. They also have had limited menu days in the past when they do seafood events, but I haven't run into that problem in a while. Just maybe check their Instagram.

Wow, this is definitely a hidden gem, and i am not sure that i want to share it with you all…read more This is a family owned business that grows their own strawberries. Every year we go there, even though it'll take over an hour to drive to, it is well worth the strawberries. These are all pick your own and are non GMO based. They aren't sprayed with pesticides and are able to be eaten off the vine. They had some of the largest strawberries I've ever seen (outside of the genetically modified ones you may get from the stores). They have tons of rows of strawberries to pick from, and there is rarely a chance to find any rows that are completely empty. They sell them at $3/pound, which in my eyes, is great, especially for the quality of these strawberries. This year was a little different, as they were also growing cabbage, lettuce and rhubarb. *though you couldn't pick your own, it was available inside their little cozy store* They had a great selection of hanging flowers as well and we picked one up to hang outside of our house. If you like ice cream, they have locally sourced ice cream that was amazing. my kids love eating it every time. Overall, this is definitely the best place to do 'pick your own' strawberries, and definitely worth the drive.

Great local farm stand with an optional you- pick strawberry farm…read more The stand offers a great variety of fruits and veggies, plants, jars/jams and ice cream. Friendly owners and workers who always just smile at my kids covered in strawberries that they ate in the field :) Note: White Hill also participates in the Pinehurst Farmer's Market (Saturday's 10-1pm).
