As some may remember, they were at 675 Somerset St West, but that location closed down rather suddenly sometime in the latter half of 2022 and shortly after, a competitor of theirs, Tealive, opened in that location. About 6 months after, Chatime popped back up, but at a smaller space at 695 Somerset St West (where Tea Owners, which was also a bubble tea shop, used to be). Don't know the backstory, but happy that there isn't a reduction in numbers of bubble tea shops in Chinatown, lol. Are you thirsty & thinking where can I get a refreshing drink with chunks of jelly in it? If so I enjoyed Chatime!! I went on a Saturday night around 9:30 pm and the line was to the door. For my first time I was intrigued and a bit overwhelmed by the massive menu options. In the end I decided on the chatime with pearls & Mango qq with pearls and coconut. Both were quite good. I felt both had far too much ice in them (similar to another drink location many go to) which was too bad. They are not fast serving so if you are in a rush, keep that in mind! Yikes! I am not sure if it was because I came here on a Sunday afternoon, or because it was Mothers Day, and everyone was out and craving some bubble tea, but holy cow was it busy in here today! When the hubby and I walked in, there was a line to the back of the store. If I would have known at the beginning that it would have taken 30 minutes to get in and out, I would have left right away. I am not a bubble tea fanatic, but decided to stick it out and see what this place was all about. This place attracts everyone from the everyday hipster to little kids who drag their parents here wanting their bubble tea! I must admit, it's a neat joint and I could totally see this place being a chill place to hang out for a bit, but the vibe was kinda ruined by the wait times. By the time we got to the cash to place our order I was unaware that there was a whole process to it all, with tons of choices that you can add to your drink. Totally understand now why the line moves so slow when its busy. The cashier was super friendly and patient, I even overheard her making recommendations regarding what works well with certain drinks, keeping her composure during the mad house that was in Chatime. I went with just a basic chocolate smoothie (lol, I know, why would I order that when I could get some cool bubble tea?) The hubby on the other hand ordered the chocolate hazelnut bubble tea which I drank pretty much half of because it was pretty addicting and pretty good. We also picked up some macarons, a vanilla one and coffee one. They were OK, but not worth $2.95 in my opinion. We waited another good 10 minutes while our order was being prepared and could not be happier when they called out our number so we could get our drinks and go. Nobody hurt me - I only had my first Chatime experience ever a few months ago with Samantha M. I posted it to my Insta Stories and Chatime Canada called me out and asked me where I've been LOL I wasn't really in the mood for tapioca, so tried grass jelly for the first time with their super popular roasted milk tea. I tend to find bubble tea extremely sweet, but I also didn't want just straight up cold tea, so I tried out 30% sweetness ("slight sugar") with a regular amount of ice. I really enjoyed it! Love that you can choose how much or how little ice and sugar you want, and the stabbing of the straw into the cup is fun :) That being said, we weren't in a rush, so we took our time ordering and hung out for a bit, but it started to get really busy really fast and at one point, the lineup went around the back wall. I'll be honest, I started getting anxious with all of the people and was happy to take my drink to-go. The location that'll be opening soon on Merivale will be the biggest one in Canada, so maybe next time I'll hit that one up, instead. I love Chatime so of course I had to check out the one in Ottawa! Consistent drinks with the ones in Toronto. Love that you can customize the sugar and ice level. My fave drink is the roasted milk tea with grass jelly! They also had a ferrero rocher drink as the holiday special and it was yum! Love the amount of seating and how clean it was in here. This one time I asked for warm bubble tea I got an ice cold one. They do give you a new tho. The variety of tea is very good and the prices are slightly cheaper than in Presotea. They do have some flavours like Qewqew that are really good so it is not a terrible place. Just be very clear with what you want. read more

Totally a great place to grab that Milk Tea boba with our flowers. We love the staff and choices.

We came here twice in one week. The location is all too convenient especially after dinner at a Vietnamese or Korean restaurant. There is so much good food in the area. Chatime is the place where everyone goes for bubble tea and to hang out. The space is big with a lot of tables and it is PACKED. The line is long to order drinks and the wait time to get your drink is even longer. I think we waited about half an hour minimum. The drink choices are typical and same as all other Chatime locations. It hits the spot. I loved the neon sign and vibe. This is the first large scale Chatime cafe I have been to. All other locations have been much smaller. I guess they have the space in Canada. read more

Visited Chatime with some friends on a Friday evening. It was very busy so the line-up was quite long and service a bit slow. But we were pleased with the many options from the menu and even more so with the available cakes and macaroons in the glass counter. I had a coconut milk tea with tapioca and it was great! It was the perfect blend of tea and coconut flavour for me. My friends also all enjoyed their bubble tea. One of them had the matcha mille-crepe, and she said she really enjoyed it. My only complain is the music. It was way too loud, it was hard to hear each other chatting. The tables were very basic, the chairs not that comfortable and there was nothing else keeping us there. I would probably drop by to grab a bubble-tea to go in the future, but wouldn't stay to hang out again. read more

Surprisingly I only found out about how delicious this treat is recently, and ended up going two days back to back! I had the Passionfruit QQ both times, less ice, half sugar. As someone who only enjoys sweets from time to time, even the half sugar was quite sweet, I can't imagine someone who takes it full sweetness edition! The staff were welcoming and understanding at my bumbled ordering, dealt pleasantly with what seemed to be a significant rush of walkins and delivery companies, and the location itself was very clean. Being that I was visiting and looking up places for boba. This place popped in, and was fairly new at the time. What I did know, that they were building a Chatime back from where I live. So I was excited to try this place and the reviews from here sounded very promising. Overall, I wasn't sure on what to pick. There was so many options and I usually opt for a Taro slush or milk tea. But I got the Taro added with coconut I believe. Very something different than what I've tasted. But they also have desserts which are pretty cool too. I like how they do not leave the ice in your bubble tea though I didn't find they shook mine enough as some of the drink was a bit too warm for my liking. Ive heard the night time staff is better at making the drinks. Also, the decor of the place is extremely cute. Overall, very yummy and would return without a doubt. Our staple in Ottawa for bubble tea. Hundreds of different combinations, we will never get board of finding something new to try, and the pricing isn't bad. This location in particular has been busy since inception, and you may end up waiting 15-30 mins on occasion for your drinks. Be careful to pick appropriate parking while you head in, a lot of the street parking is paid during the day. The room is bright and fairly spacious, with multiple tables to hang out at while you wait for your order prepared. Free WiFi also available. All in all, not a bad stop if you have some time to kill. read more

Hubs and I had a boba craving and decided to stop by. We're familiar with the chain since we've also been to Chatime in Montreal. This place was superbusy on a summer weekday evening at 10:30 pm. The interior of the store was nicely spacious with minimalist decor and lighting. The desserts offered looked really good, so we decided to snack on the Japanese cheesecake, which ended up being yummy but IMO not worth almost $6 for a very small piece. We did enjoy our bubble tea drinks, though. We selected oolong and the Chatime milk tea which were both very flavourful; the taste of the tea really shone through. It's about time that Chatime opened! I've been anxiously awaiting for the first Chatime to open in Ottawa ever since they sponsored the night market 2 years ago. I'm really glad that there is more competition in the bbt business in this city. This will encourage the other places like MST and Hangout to step up their game. The decor is super chic and instagram worthy. I love that they have tables set up for people to sit and chat instead of being a takeout only kind of deal. The quality of their tapioca and the amount of customizing you can make in terms of ice lrvel amd sugar is what keeps me coming back. I also love that the creamer they use in the milk tea is lactose free. I tend to stick with their top 10 menu. Servive was a little slow, mostly because they just opened and the employees are all new. Hopefully they pick up the pace soon. I can't wait to try out their desserts next time! Great selection of flavors for both milk teas and other teas! I love lychee, peach green/black teas! I also had taro, earl grey, coconut milktea. They are all great! It's all just processed, sugary drinks, with some sort of milk powder, which I don't think is real milk, because I'm lactose intolerant, and didn't start throwing up, and it kind of tasted like soy milk. I spent 5$ on the most disgusting tea of my life. The place is a sugar-fest. Could've drunk some Mountain Dew for cheaper and it would've been more delicious. Also, the place was like a sauna. A great place for bubble tea. Fantastic pearl milk tea. Also tried the pearl milk tea with red bean. Regular sweetness is delightful with a cream like aftertaste although if you don't want it so sweet you can ask when ordering. Plentiful tapioca. I would also recommend trying to flavoured macaroons. Particularly enjoyed the salted caramel and vanilla flavour options. The layered crepe cakes are also very good. I recommend that matcha flavoured layer cake. The only real knock is that this place can get pretty busy! It's not uncommon for the lines to be approximately 10-20 minutes during prime time however it is worth the wait and there are several tables available. Very social atmosphere. read more

I really love Chatime and was excited to see an international chain pop up here. Of course, their success is warranted and their bubble tea is great. I love that their taro milk tea actually has real taro in it which sets it apart from other places that just use the powder. I also appreciate the customization options, the amount of variety in the menu, the fact that they're always coming out with new and interesting drinks and the fact that they have a loyalty program. The shop itself is a bit barebones as far as decor goes, but it looks sleek and modern and I love their neon sign. Unfortunately, my biggest gripe is that wait times can sometimes be quite long and it really seems like something they should have been able to adjust or improve on by now. The tea here is amazing and is currently the only location in Ottawa. I will continue to come here often but my only complaint is the wait time. It is always a minimum of 15 mins even when the line up isn't as long. They need more staff to keep up with the demand especially since this is the only location in Ottawa and it's obviously very popular. read more

Mixed experiences here. Long lines. They're very nice and accommodating but also have gotten orders wrong. The strangest thing about Chatime is their taro milk tea is purposely chunky. They seem to want you to taste that its real taro instead of powder, but all they'd have to do is blend the real chunks more, and you'd get a smooth drink. They can still advertise that it's real taro. But a chunky milk tea is sort of off-putting. read more
