I have driven by this place probably a 100 times, hidden in plain sight. I needed to match a vinyl to an upholstry project I have at the moment. My distributor wanted to charge me $75 per yard for the exact vinyl, these guys had a similar vinyl in stock for $15 a yard. These guys also do a lot of custom work. When I went in there was a lot of patio furniture that needed repairs. They make custom cushions and replace the material on outdoor patio furniture. Definitely recommended and if you can shop local. The second oldest business on 4th Street. A Foam and Fabric Place was started in 1971 and is now populated, in part, by two very friendly and engaging employees. I like the fact that this little shop belongs in a "Big City" garment district, not a busy "College Town" street. But such is the charm of this cluttered fabric and foam store. We had a custom size foam cushion cut for the side of our 92-year-old mother's bed. This cushion provides a safe landing for our spry but disoriented family member. I was in need of some high density foam for a DIY project. I was creating a wedge and they had just what I needed. Gail even shaved 10 percent off the price as it was a little dingy, which didn't bother me at all as I was going to cover it. They have all different types of foam densities available in full size pieces which they can cut down and they have scraps you can rummage through. Gail and Deshawn were running around this store looking high and low for what we needed. She even let me day on the various foams to see which felt the best. All in all my wedge ran about $35. If I were to buy it retail vs. DIY it would have ran me at least $100. They also have a nice selection of upholstery fabric. They will do the sewing for you, but they are booked solid till July. Being a babywearer all I could think of was DIY wraps and ring slings. Really great customer service. read more

I called Foam and Fabric this morning to inquire about a piece of fabric for our golf cart. The gentleman on the phone was so helpful and encouraging that we made the drive into town. I had the same man help me once there (so sorry I did not get his name). Again he could not of been nicer and more helpful. He gave us several pieces to choose from and it did not seem to matter that we only needed a yard. He took the time to explain the difference between regular vinyl and nautical vinyl to us. We took our pillow shams in yesterday for some help--they are a weird size and I could not find inserts anywhere. Gail listened carefully and then gave me a couple of different options. We ended up having her make custom inserts and they look so good! The turn around time was a day...pretty amazing. I would highly recommend Gail and the other staff. They did a great job. I had a hard time finding a place to replace my old couch cushions. I brought the cushions in, they had good quality foam in stock and had the cushions back to me within 2 hours. My cushions are pretty much brand new with better quality foam than what was originally inside. I'm very happy with their service. read more

Well I guess I was "special" than the other reviewers on here. I went here almost a decade ago to buy canvas for my art class-- and my first time in this store was my last. I found what I was looking for, but the salesman helping me was really, really rude. I had some questions that I was asking him, and I'm not sure what I did or said or what happened, but he actually stopped talking to me after a few minutes, didn't smile and instead got a pissed off look on his face, and acted like he wanted me to leave and just get out of the store. I have no idea if I asked a question or said something to offend him...? Even when I left I said "Thank you" to him, but he didn't acknowledge me or say anything back or even smile. So I just bought the canvas I was there for and never went back to the store-- anyway even if I wanted to go back I felt too uncomfortable, so I just went elsewhere. I'm glad everyone else had a good experience there though... but I've never been back and won't be going back. This is another locally owned mom and pop store I won't support again due to their bad customer service. read more

Really great service here! I didn't even know Tucson had such a place until I did a search. I was able to get a 30% discount because they were going to have to laminate various pieces together to make up some of my couch cushions. I bought some fabric from A Foam & Fabric Place so that I could cover some chair cushions, but after cutting into the fabric I realized I needed help or I was going to botch it. I took what I'd done back to the store and Gail laid it all out for me, even made a paper pattern. What an angel. My first purchase from the store was in the mid 70's of 2 twin-sized foam mattresses. I decided to reupholster a wing back chair on my own, and needed a few upholstery supplies to complete the project. The upholstery fabric place I usually go told me they would sell me metal tacking strips because they're 'too dangerous,' and the limited upholstery section at Joann Fabric only had some of the things I needed, and they were literally 14x more expensive than they should have been. Ouch. Someone recommended I try A Foam & Fabric. The staff was really friendly and helpful, and they had exactly what I needed! Metal and cardboard tacking strips, ply grip, and piping cord. I walked out having spent no more than $5, and had everything I needed to finish the chair. read more

I visited the store during the third week of August looking to buy one hundred yards of Cotton Duck. I was told that the owner would call me with a quote. It is now October 3rd and no contact from the business. I stopped by the store and was told that the owner had been really busy and that was why no one has contacted me. They told me he was getting ready to leave town next week and therefore had no idea when he might be able to get back to me, if ever. Nice employees in store, but terrible responsiveness from owner. If I need to do so, I will drive to Phoenix to get what I need rather than purchase anything from this company. read more

My couch and love seat are 10 years old and cushions were really worn down. I also had my toddler spill milk on one of the arm rests so it smelled sour. So I figured if I re stuffed the arm rests the smell would go away. I didn't want to spend a lot of money getting new couches so I decided to take my cushions to Gail at A Foam and Fabric Place. They provided the fluff I needed to revive my arm rests. They also did an excellent job re stuffing my cushions! My couches are brand new again! We have a relatively expensive sofa and noticed the other day that one of the tuft buttons had come undone on one of the cushions. We were more than a little peeved since it was likely caused by one of the many guests we had staying with us over the holiday.
