We ordered 3 empandadas, chicken, it's was tasty, it had citrus zest to it. The bacon (pork) with jalapeños, and gouda cheese. Oh that had a bite to it, it was very tasty. The tri tip, fell short. I wasn't to impressed with that one. But over all I'm glad we made a stop there and tried there food. The service was great. The ambiance was cute, and simple.

Wonderful empanadas delivered to Apiary! We had the Higo and the Fuguzetta. They were both delicious and I'd order them again any day. Satisfying and gooey. Perfect little bite to enjoy with some of Apiary's hard kombucha.

Che is a hidden gem in Carpinteria. The empanadas are made fresh by the owner, Luis, and he will even deliver them to you if you're at any of adjacent businesses grabbing a drink. The menu has a wide variety of empanada options and they are all delicious. They even come in different shapes depending on what combo you get. They also sell their chimichurri for $12 a jar. If you're in Carpinteria and especially if you're at Apiary, Brew Lab or Rincon Mountain Winery, you need to stop and get some empanadas from Che!

Best empanadas in VC! My favorites were the Ham and Cheese and the Americana. Packed with amazing flavors and very delicious. My wife also got the Vegan and the special samosa one, both very yummy too. If you love empanadas and live in VC, you have to check this place out. Just heads up it might be hard to find the place. Ask Apiary Beverage Co., they'll give you directions on where to go.

Why do I love Carpinteria? Because in the back alley of an industrial park, sandwiched between a commercial truck refurbish site and a Brewery, there is Che. Luis the chef and founder is a superstar. He makes the most delicious, creative empanadas I've ever seen. We enjoyed the Vegana and the Roquefort while sipping on cider from the neighboring business. A fun, delicious, handmade to order street food experience. And if you likie, you can takie home too! He offers frozen To-go options as well as fresh baked. In the words of my husband taking his first bite of the Roquefort "oh my god, this is F*ing incredible. This is insane. Wow" Vegana, super packed with so many veggies. And I highly recommend getting the jar of Chimichurri. It's amazing.

    Delicious, unique empanadas!

Loved these empanadas. We got 3 kinds, the prosciutto, the blue cheese with pecans and the mozzarella with oregano. Everything was so tastey and full of flavor, including the chimichurri. Brought our empanadas over to the brewery next door as a snack to share with our beer flight and it was a perfect pairing. I especially loved the blue cheese empanada, I'm just disappointed I never thought to make something like this myself, I'm inspired! I will go back to try more soon.

Been visiting the Apiary for years and, for some reason, never ordered from Luis but very glad we did this year.

I am always on the lookout for authentic Peruvian food and I originally found Coya as a takeout…read morespot in the back of local Sidewalk Market. They have since opened up their own restaurant in Downtown SLO and celebrated their 1 year anniversary the weekend we were there. Already had plans that evening so missed out on their live cultural show for their celebration but did manage to stop by for lunch the last time we were passing through SLO. I always get the causa every time and this time was no different, getting both the octopus and mushroom causa while the pork chicharron sandwich is always a winner. By actually dining in vs. takeout, meant I can get the Chicha Morada made with purple corn that my high school friend who spent years doing research in the Peruvian Amazon introduced me to decades ago and tried for the first time, the Hot Maca.

I wanted to really like this place but man, it fell short…read more We were greeted by what I assumed was the host/ bus boy? He was doing all the work. Also a random bath and body works candle was lit in the restaurant?? It felt like I was eating inside of a bathroom instead of a restaurant. Our waitress was behind the counter and did not greet us until after 15 minutes of sitting. My cup had lipstick stains and grime on it. Their lack of communication was wild because we were asked what we wanted to drink twice and the drinks did not come out until after the food came. We got the pesto pasta with steak. Food was missing salt, we had to ask the busboy for the check 3 separate times, and the waitress only started to recommend meals and chat with us once I was looking at the tip screen. I would not recommend at all.
