The lemon empanada was tasty, the filling has a bit of tang to it. The soft cherry turnovers are unique and worth a try if you like cherry pie. The donuts are also good. But what is this filling in the strawberry empanada? Strawberries grow everywhere around here but apparently they can't find one or two to put in the strawberry turnovers/empanadas? It's some kind of clear donut filling jelly type junk that bears no resemblance to real strawberry. Yuck. This had a different taste to it and the perfect size..you can customize your eggs, meat cheese and veggies. I had ham with jalapeño, spinach and mushroom. I opted for beans instead of mayo and jack cheese. Queso fresco would have been tastier.. but they offered jack or American.. Very nice little hole on the wall bakery with some delicious Mexican dishes. We had the red chillaquilles and I added a savory addition of chicken. The over easy eggs were perfect and Monterey Jack cheese to top. Cafe de Olla was delicious and hot. Had to end it with a banana bread and a peanut butter muffin to go. Whenever I'm in Carpinteria, I always have to stop and get a breakfast burrito. Service is always amazing and I really like the location.

The pastries and coffee were good and very reasonably priced. I have yet to try the hot breakfast options or lunch, but I will be back.

Everything in the glass case looked amazing and hopefully others will guide you towards their best offerings , whether it be the Italian wedding cookies, conchas, or guava cheese danish. The interior is dated and awkwardly laid out, with a separate coffee shop in the middle of the store, but who cares, right? It's the same line for coffee or baked items. I had a breakfast quesadilla and coffee. The quesadilla was basic and had sliced avocado and pico gallo on top. There is nothing exceptional about it, but it was hot and filling. You know what? I got a good, quality veggie burrito for an affordable price, extra salsa - no charge. Sure the veggies all could have been grilled a little more/a little longer to pull the flavors together better, but I'm not mad. I'm not mad at all. A healthy burrito that didn't have me feeling disgusting and heavy. Small mom and pop bakery! I was helped right away! I ordered a bunch of different pastries. My favorite has to be the coconut puffs! I had one on my way back to the rental house. This little gem is almost hidden right on Linden just a few steps from Carpinteria Avenue. It opens at 5AM and doesn't close til 5PM. This little Mexican bakery has great breakfast dishes including burritos made to order. These folks serve the early risers. The gardeners, medical people, and other early starters know to come here for a great portable breakfast but you can also get some of the best tamales in town and a fabulous selection of traditional sweets. This is a friendly traditional Mexican bakery with truly excellent food and kind service. You can eat in at the few tables but most of their business seems to be take out. The atmosphere is very friendly and they are efficient because they know their customers need to get that morning protein to get them through the day. We live in Seattle and some bakeries cost a lot this place does not. My kids gobbled up the cookies. They have good danishes, turnovers, sweet rolls, etc. I would recommend going! Back in June, my husband and I took a weekend trip to Carpenteria, we were looking in need for quick bite for lunch. We came across Reynaldo's, didn't look too busy, decided to try it. Lunch is served until 3 and the bakery stays open the full day. Got there right at 3:00 and they were happy to take our lunch order. The food and service were very good. DO NOT COME HERE I ordered some food and about 10 pastries. Sat down to wait for the food and bit into the apple turnover and the inside was growing. We are talking about fuzzy white, black, and green mold. Absolutely disgusting. Took it back to the cashier and told her to cancel my order and asked for my money back. She tried to tell me that it wasn't mold, which is absolute insanity and I regret not taking a picture first. I told her to pass it back to me so I could show her it was 100% mold and she declined giving it back. Then she tried to tell me she was only going to cancel the food order and refund that one pastry. Like I was going to give the other ones to my kids after one of them was growing. Just randomly walked in and what a fantastic choice that was! The nicest staff and super helpful. I have no idea what half the pastries were. This place is UH-MAZING!! I highly recommend going in there and getting ANY baked good. I went in there to just get one or two things and walked out with 6 things. The pumpkin bread was delicious. The Turnovers (the apple and the boysenberry) were both FABULOUS!!! They both had an amazing crust, not too thick and not too thin and had a delicious flavor. Both had lots of filling and were so delicious!! THE concha was the freshest and best I've ever eaten. Everything looked and smelled amazing!! I went back the next day to get some more before I went home, but sadly they were closed. I was very sad So don't go after 1pm on a Sunday.... but go..run... walk..... get there as fast as you can!! Really nice and homey place. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with a 12oz Abuelita Hot Chocolate. I was charged for a 20oz, I should've added the prices beforehand so I'm not fully blaming them. The service itself was alright, wasn't super attentive. The sandwich was good, and $4. I was starting to be okay with being given a 20oz over a 12oz, but the hot chocolate was more milk than Abuelita :( I'm still happy I went here over any other breakfast spot, but still wish it was a lil better than I got. read more

I like to put on my tennis shoes and walk thru the campground towards the bluffs while gawking at the folks "camping." It's around five miles from town to park and back. Then I reward myself with the best & most delicious fat chorizo & egg breakfast burrito on the planet or maybe a tamale and definitely a few Mexican wedding cookies. They are like communion dissolving sweetly on the tongue. ( maybe get an enchilada to go too !) A mex bakery and eatery - service by good fine local people. Fresh juices too. This is a tiny place on the little main street in Carpentaria. You go in to place your order, pay, then the make it fresh and bring it to the little tables out front. During the pandemic, Reynaldo's had takeout available. We had never been to Reynaldo's before but we needed to get out of the house so we decided to head to Carpinteria for a little drive. We're so glad that we did! We started with their menu online. Everything looked delicious! My husband wanted something simple so he went with a bean, rice and cheese burrito. It was slotted chilly out so I opted for the posole. I was pleasantly surprised that they had a green chicken (a little spicy) and a red pork. I chose the green chicken posole. It's rare that a small taqueria has posole offered every day (usually it's only served on Sundays, like menudo), but they offer it every day AND in two flavors!! It was really delicious and I can see how it would be a favorite on their menu!! I am very interested in trying the red pork next time. When we picked up our order, they were very sanitary and safe with our order. They added chips and salsa to our bag too!! As a little something special (because we all need a little something special these days), my husband picked up a couple of adorable unicorn shaped shortbread cookies. And I mean, the food was delicious, but eating this cookie reminded me that Reynaldo's is a bakery FIRST!! The shortbread was perfect, buttery and crumbly. It was a nice thick cookie too! And the frosting was Just the right amount of sweet, not overwhelming sugar in your face, just a nice layer of sugar. It was wonderful! read more

I was at the counter ordering a breakfast torta and a sweetbread the guy at the counter had the dirtiest nails! Then he proceeds to grab an old glove from his dirty apron and grabs my bread . I ask him what are the tongs for? He sarcastically sed for when you don't use a glove, I sed ok .I decided to switch my bread asked the lady that always helps me thinking she would do it differently but she replied with let him help you. So the guy grabbed a bag put his hand inside the paper bad to open it" the grabbed the tongs from the tip and then grabbed my bread? I told the lady that I wanted a different bread she asked what the problem was? I replied look at his nails! She he then with a non caring big smile on his face showed her , she obviously seen they were dirty .then asked what I wanted with an attitude where she tore the bag where the bread was in and took the whole trade of bread out of the counter and almost shoved it in my face asking what bread I wanted with a crazy demeanor! I didn't even know what to do then. So just just chose anything and cancelled the rest of my order.. my point is that I'm not sure if it was this ignorance or pressure but the way the lady and guy" handled things weee not only unsanitary but just wrong on treating a regular customer.. First off, sorry I didn't take a picture of all my delicious items. This place has a "home" and "local" feel. They have patio seats for you to sit and enjoy foods, but it's counters service inside. It was pretty busy this morning when we want (makes sense because the food is sooooo good!) I didn't get a coffee but loved the coffee menu. Next time! I got the strawberry empanada pasty. While the inside appeared to be like jam that wouldn't be inside a doughnut, it wasn't overly sweet! (I like that) the crust was more pastry like and not overly sweet either. Delish! Coconut macaroon was light and fluffy. Great! Churros were softer than I was expecting(which is a good thing) but. I think I'm not a fan of not warm churros so maybe I should have warmed them up. Just didn't LOVE them. My husband really like them so it's probably just a me thing. Apple fritter was really good! flakey! The texture was different than any other Apple fritter that I had. Tasted lighter and not so Doughey ! REALLY LIKED THEM. They have sooooo many options, I can't wait to go back. Service was friendly. Place was busy. If you're a tourist stopping though, definitely recommend trying this place. read more

Its very slow moving small business which is fine , just sometimes things aren't fresh and are day old twice I got a cupcake that was very stale and not fresh . We love the salsa here and have been making the trip for years to get that. Do check when it was made as we got a couple large containers a few weeks ago and it was bad (bubbly fermented) the next day.
