This place was cranking this morning. Very small seating area but found a spot. A ton of to go orders were coming in and out. I had some Menudo and I have to say it was delicious. Went on Saturday for dinner. We really wanted to try caldo de rez, but by 6:30 they were sold out. We ended up getting menudo and a shrimp plate. The food was so tasty. They had homemade tortillas that were soft and fresh! The shrimp was cooked deliciously and the menudo was nicely spicy and yummy. I dropped in for a concha and anything else that caught my eye. I like how they had small conchas bc I prefer them over the large ones. They didn't have a huge variety though. I only saw the white conchas. The other bread there looked overcooked, especially the croissants - they were brown and not that light gold color. They do sell food but idk... the cleanliness wasn't all there for me so I might have to skip on the food. I saw the cooks in the back preparing food without gloves and touching their faces/masks and getting back to touching the food bare handed. The concha I got was good though! What went well? Everything! This place is magical, and terrifying at the same time and I mean it in a good way. This small restaurant is always busy and packed on weekends. So, be prepare to wait at least 30 minutes for your food..... The food is always right on point! the serving portions are generous, but the only down side is the parking which is kind of small since they have to share with other businesses. So if you don't mind parking a block or two away to enjoy A Delicious Menudo or if you feel brave enough to try Birria de Chivo with Consomé (Goat tacos with Broth) personally it's my favorite. So good. I come from growing up in San Diego going to my spots for burritos and soups and I just found my new spot here in Santa Barbara. I'm sick right now and I've wanted to find a good spot to get caldo de pollo when I'm sick. So I ordered the Caldo de pollo 10/10 delicious! served with these housemade tortillas cilantro, lemons, salsa, onion and jalapeno chopped up with bits of carrot and zucchini in the soup with a leg and thigh bone as my portion of chicken. I noticed the tortillas were a little thicker and bigger so I just dunked it in the soup 10/10 on experience which I've waited 4 years to find. You know it's good when your a foodie but forget to take a picture first! This place is always packed and for good reason no matter what you get it's tasty. I personally love the pastor quesadilla and Camarones a La diabla if you like spicy and shrimp don't be afraid to go for it! A lot of there baked goods are fresh and delicious. I'm kinda a tres leches cake snob and this one was ranked 4 of 10 for me. The flavor wasn't bad but the top cake had no leche in it. Terrible service, the cashier was rude. I was trying to see the menu, but she was pushing me to order. i know it was a busy place, but it was my first time going to the place. I came in here starving after a long day and decided on the chicken flautas combo plate. I've been to the other locations and always leave happy and satisfied with my meal. I don't frequent this location and it's not the cleanest looking when you go inside but don't let that scare you away! It is very small inside compared to the other locations. In all honesty i was a little worried how my food would taste and if it would be as good as the other locations. I'm happy to say the chicken flautas were amazing!! You couldn't get more authentic than how these were prepared. The chicken was well seasoned and not bland like most taquitos or flautas tend to be. BTW these are prepared with corn tortillas so they are pretty much taquitos in my opinion. The ladies working were very nice and hooked me up with delicious salsa, and crema fresca to top off my flautas. I loved the green salsa!! I live nearby and I had no idea this place existed! Then one Sunday I saw a long line running into the parking lot and I knew I had to try it. Well hot damn am I happy that I did! I have tried both the caldo de pollo and caldo de res and both were so flavorful and yet not greasy. Tastes like mom's! The caldos come with tortillas but I always ask to sub arroz instead. Caldos come with a side of jalapeño, cilantro and lime too. I've also tried the costillas de puerco which were tender and falling off the bone. Even though I'm more of a caldo girl I'd order the costillas again. So if y'all go a little too hard in the paint on a weekend night, remember that this place is open and can solve your crudo the next day!! read more

Horrible from the very beginning. There were soiled dishes on four different tables and just sitting there for no one to pick them up. The lady in charge of taking orders was having her lunch right on the spot and the main counter. She was taking orders while chewing her lunch. The menu of choices available has no prices. Did I say it right? You can't see the prices of anything here. We placed our orders and never saw a bill, a receipt or never knew how much each item costs. I had to wipe off the table where we sat on. It was dirty, greasy and disgusting. Our food order took about 40 minutes to arrive. Really? For a torta and caldo de res? The bread for the torta was burnt and the caldo de res looked like it was made the week before. We were compensated with two mexican jello, I guess for our frustration. The variety of Pan dulce decorates the glass shelves, my favorite being the conchas. Which do you chose, vanilla or chocolate? Both!!! You be the judge, especially when they are warm right out of the oven!! Make sure to pick up the empanadas as well, pumpkin filling or pineapple, even vanilla pudding. They are all delicious. Polvorones and the marranitos are my families favorites. If Pan Dulce is too sweet for you, La Tapatia also offers menudo and pozole on weekends, along with other delicious Mexican dishes which they serve on a daily basis.
