    Friendly, knowledgable help.

Never been to Cheap Charlie's? You're missing out. Over 1500 different beers, wines, food, kegs, cigarettes, novelties. Great pricing. Many items you will not find anywhere else. Grocery store environment. Walk in cooler. Lots of Asian spices, candy, snacks you name it. Limited street parking, but worth the one or two block walk. Lots of square footage. Public restroom for patrons only.

I've been coming here for about two years, and it's time to give them a review. If you come here for the first time, you should dedicate two hours or so because the choices are overwhelming. You just want to keep looking and looking and looking. They actually have the beer divided by country. Everyone there is helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable about beer. And you can get samples of what's on tap. I believe they usually have about 30 different beers on tap. There's a big Blackboard as you walk in that describes the beer they have on tap. Dedicate ten to fifteen minutes to go through it though. They also have a walk-in cooler that requires a jacket when you're in there.

A lot of beers!! Some of them are very obscure like old Russian Zhygulevskoe, or different varieties of Belgian krieks.

Tons of fine good beer on tap for your growler to go.

The only reason I walked in here the other day is because of yelp and the photos I saw. Looking at the storefront you would never know what kinds of amazing treasures you will find inside! I assumed that it would be just one of those tacky discount stores that have good deals on cartons of cigarettes and cheap plastic trinkets made in China mixed in with some awful crap beer like Hamms and big bottles of Ripple or some such wine. Au contraire mon amis! I found myself walking down all the aisles in wonder and disbelief.. A bazillion bottles of beer on the walls.. or I should say on the shelves.. and most of them are microbrews! They've also got some Belgian ales and other beers from other countries too. It was truly overwhelming. They have a lot of different wines and I managed to find some decent Chardonnay from 2 of our local wineries. Best of all - "cheap".. I spoke to the younger Asian couple (with their brand new baby nearby) and found out they've been here for 2 years. And I've been ignoring the place all that time! WTH! Not anymore. I explained to him that I did not expect to see all these amazing beer choices. The father told me about his dad and how he still digs his Hamms as that's what got him through the Vietnam war. I then started thinking about why they call this place Cheap "Charlie's".. not sure if the reference is accurate but it seems to fit quite well. I made out of there with 2 bottles of Chard and a bottle of IPA for under $25.00! This Charlie will be back for sure!

So much art to look at, curiosities tucked in every corner, space to roam and explore! - Get the passport to make your stay even more rewarding and fun! I love the scavenger hunts and the stamps force you to do things you might not normally do on your own accord. - The full pitch and putt course is a relaxing and a fun way to spend a few hours. It was only $25 per person and took us 3 hours. - I signed up for the Makers Tour and highly recommend it! Lots of tastings and great historical facts along the way. - The soaking pools at night were perfect to relax muscles right before bed plus no kids after 8pm. - This hotel doesn't revolve around children. The movies that were showing were rated R and most of the pubs and pool hall are 21+. Kids are welcome - but I've never seen that many kids around which I like, personally. - It's very Dog Friendly!! - The live music is incredible. I've been here for big concerts on the lawn plus mini concerts down the winery hall. They were all amazing. - It can get noisy between 7-11pm especially in weekends! The building is old - not sure about insulation and things! Bring some earplugs, a positive attitude and maybe enjoy an extra drink! Or go during the week for a quieter experience. - The food is a bit pricey but if you are doing the passport it makes a little more sense. Some of my favorites are the Cajun Tots, Portland Dip, any Burger, and the Bagel and Lox Breakfast is Incredible!!!

The Highlights * The Saltwater Outdoor Pool: This was the absolute highlight of our stay. The water is kept at a perfect 38°C (100°F), making it incredibly relaxing. I highly recommend visiting after 8:00 PM when the pool becomes an 21+ area. * Thoughtful Details: The robes provided were high quality and very comfortable. Pro-tip: Be sure to bring flip-flops for the walk to and from the pool area. * Art & Dining: The murals throughout the hotel are fascinating to look at. We also had great experiences at the on-site bars and the Black Rabbit Restaurant, where both the food and the service were excellent. The Room & Stay Quality We specifically booked a room with a private bathroom and shower. However, most rooms at this location utilize communal facilities. Unfortunately, our room was located very close to the shared bathrooms and lavatories. Due to a complete lack of etiquette from other guests using those facilities, it was extremely noisy throughout the night. Because of the poor sleep quality and the noise levels, we likely won't be staying here again. It's a beautiful property, but the layout and noise issues made it difficult to fully enjoy our birthday celebration.
