Cheap Maggies is really good if you're looking for items new with tags at 50%+ discount off the retail price. They carry maje, sandro, anthropologie, free people, adidas, champion, etc. all new with tags. They even carry some UGGs! Really interesting selection, I'm so curious how they get their inventory. I wouldn't necessarily think of this as a thrift store like a goodwill or salvation army, since the items are almost all new at a higher price so you can't really get used/worn bargains. Their racks outside are more heavily discounted, but some of them have defects so double check everything! I appreciate that the store writes out what the defects are on the tag if they are aware of the defects - I appreciate how transparent they are. Worth a visit! Never have I experienced a sense of sexism and ageism at a retail establishment within the first few minutes of a transaction. Returning a few items for a credit quickly turned into a berating (really??) by the clerk for returning a shirt with a bit of dust on it (had it in a bag in my car for a week or two to remind me to return, so it could have been dusty but not dirty). I then dusted the shirt off, handed it to the clerk, and he said he would have to wash it, throwing it on a back counter. Huh? Returned with tags, never worn, and gently tried on at home. Also turns out the shirt wasn't listed on my receipt, so the clerk who handled my initial transaction (different one) didn't even charge me for it! After 60 plus years on this earth, I know the ground rules for returning items correctly and always supported small businesses. But not this one. If you think an older woman is a target for poor treatment, business owner/staff, there are laws and regulations that say otherwise. Reconsider the 'tude! read more

Like most gals, I like a lot of name brands that I don't want to fork over the big bucks for. Luckily, Cheap Maggies is here to solve that problem. They carry unique pieces by some of my favorite brands for less then half the cost of retail price, making it my go to when I'm looking for some new wardrobe additions. I've got a weakness for Free People and Anthropolgie clothes, and you can usually find a decent selection of their last season looks scattered throughout the racks. This is a great spot but I will heed you one warning: be prepared to hunt. Bargain shopping isn't easy and you've got to be ready to sort through heaps of clothes to get to the goodies. It's well worth it though, some of my finds here have become wardrobe staples. They've got a large men's section as well and there is a big selection of pro sports clothing on the cheap. Make sure to point that out if you've got a man who is a disgruntled shopping companion. I love clothes. A lot. I love finding good deals. A lot. Cheap Maggie's is my go to when I'm looking for a sporting event shirt. They have better prices than any other sporting goods store and you'll find what you need. I wish it wasn't so crammed in the back of the store though because you have to weasel your way through racks. One word: It isn't a goodwill or a dollar store, so it isn't cheap as you think "cheap" is, but more like moderately-priced overstock merch for angels and gents. Final word: Finding a gem here is a hit or miss, esp. if you get hassled by dust and your name is Claust or Phobia... But I spotted platform sandals for $20 (aside from a pair of soft jeans that I hemmed into capris and a victorian-ish ruffled tank) that I've gotten several compliments for, as in ladies I didn't know in passing literally stopping just to say "Cool sandals. Where'd you get them?" Though another cute pair of wedge booties killed my little babies (toes) from the first use, despite it being wide enough for well, wide feet... Oh, darn testimonies, kill the zest off me now. Meantime, if you still have all your own babies intact, I'd suggest shopping around for proper shoes at nicer digs. But if you see something you like here anyway, by all means, blow the Jacksons in your wallet since you work for your money. Extra words: Don't expect to find parking on Washington St., unless you're the devil, because not even angels can. Best if you live here, which is anything but cheap. Additional note: Would have loved to pick up a pair of funky shades, but every single one of them had built in dirt on the lenses--would have not been a problem if they were equipped with wipers, as do windshields... I am a regular shopper at Cheap Maggies. For your reference I usually like shopping at Free People, Off-Saks, Last Call Neiman Marcus, Barney's Outlet, Anthropolgoie and Nordstrom's Rack. Every time I go there I find a gem. Shopping at Maggie's is similar to shopping at Goodwill except that the clothing is new. Atmosphere:I love how the people just let you shop, when they pass you by the smile and say hi (very friendly). Also, there is a tiny little dressing room in the back for you to try your clothing. Price Range: ($15-$30) Brands: 7 for all Mankind Anthropologie Ecru Urban Outfitters Burberry Free People and more... The exterior is full of hoodie racks that remind me of canal street. I kind of like it though because it keeps too many people from shopping there, more for me! Give this place a go, it's a lot better than the generic clothing that all the Hoboken boutiques have. read more

Totally worth checking out!That being said,I would never have ended up here had I not been a klutz,tripped on the street outside and somehow managed to rip the sandals I was wearing.As luck would have it,Cheap Maggies was close enough to hop on one foot to and purchase another pair. Oh damn,now i have to buy new shoes,..said no woman ever!So,I happily went in and found a perfect pair of pumps for around $25.Yes,it is that cheap!Atleast,most of them are.There are both men and women's clothes here but I didnt get to check out the womenswear much since the Mr. decided he will utilize the time I spent in here by getting a few tshirts for himself and I took it upon myself to help him choose.They do have a decent collection of interesting Tshirts and shorts for men.The prices are really cheap..(around $20-$25 range for shorts and cheaper for tees). A few of the clothes looked faded and used but most of the collection here was brand-name tees that looked neat.There was a checkin offer of 10% off and a yelp deal both of which I forgot to use by the time we got to check-out.Well,I will use it next time since I am coming back alone to explore more of this store soon without the hubs breathing down my neck. read more

Looks a bit trashy from the outside, with ghetto sweatshirts hanging on racks, but you can grab a good find here every once in a while. Cheap Maggie's gets surplus clothing and accessories, many name brand, and sells at a reduced price. The merchandise is NOT used. They have a nice selection of sunglasses and accessories, and their wall of shoes has increased since they first opened. I actually bought a super cute pair of Chloe aviators from there, which were marked down almost 50%. They now accept credit cards, which they did not originally. Located downtown Hoboken, on Washington street, parking is near impossible. read more

Really cool store right on Washington Street, I pass it when I'm walking from the PATH. It should be marked better, you could walk right past it and not even realize. They carry men's and women's retail clothing at super marked down prices. The merchandise and brands are really high end as well. When I was there they had 7 For All Mankind, brands from Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie, Paige Premium denim, I love their shoe selection. They get new stuff in pretty regularly which is nice. The staff seems friendly as well. I would suggest this place to anyone who loves a bargain. read more

When you're working for four different employers and still living below poverty level, your clothes come from a thrift store. I live in Passaic county and tend to buy clothes from boutiques with shirts ranging from 1 to 10 dollars and pants about 8 to 20 each. Sears clearance is another option when I'm saving 80 to 100 for a shopping spree. However, I was in this area with my son and looked up some clothing stores. I found cheap Maggie's! Cheap for that area but still somewhat average prices for me, I was still able to walk out with some items. I made a mental note to return for more socks to add to my drawer, and more shirts, possibly pants. They have one fitting room and on A Saturday I wasn't looking to be there all day, however I was happy to have discovered that store and look forward to return! read more

Edit: I really loved this store but I will never shop here again. I was shopping with a group of friends and we were immediately shadowed by an employee who assumed we were shop lifting. I asked my friends if we could leave because i noticed and felt uncomfortable and the worker says to us "this has nothing to do with your race, I'm just doing my job." I was the only minority in the group. Way to make it awkward! Horrible customer service. Meanwhile, we were all interested in buying multiple items. We immediately put them down and walked out. They were checking out a customer when I walked in and I was told the store was closed and when I replied "I thought it closed at 8," I was shocked to hear that I was demanded to leave because it was "closed." If you follow me reviews you will see that I hardly ever give anyone such a low rating. I find it very rude when you walk into a place of business where you rely on the public to pay your bills and you don't care who walks in or out of your store. It's my understanding that a greeting from an employee is the basic courtesy that should be given to anyone walking into your place of business. There were three employees. One on the phone, one behind the counter and the third walking around and chatting with the one behind the counter. Not one had the time to say hi! How are you? Can we help you find something??. It was my first time in the store in all these years of being a hop, skip and a jump away from Hoboken. The never really got my attention before and tonight I see why. Long story short their loss!!!. If you like fashion and you like the thrill of the dig, then this place is for you. I have gotten many compliments on my Cheap Maggie's bargains. A very cool Marc by Marc Jacobs dress and Trina Turk costume jewelry most recently. It IS hit or miss but all discount clothing stores are. The staff has always been very nice to me. I avoid crowded times because there is only one dressing room but it is well lit and roomy. If this store had dreamy wallpaper and a funky mid century light fixture, I'd give it five stars, but then it wouldn't be called CHEAP Maggie's. Overall Cheap Maggies does a good job at offering good clothes at cheaper costs. However, you never really know what exactly is going to be in the store; it's always a hit or miss. They do have incredible deals, but sometimes the selection of clothes is limited. I can see why they call this place "Cheap Maggie's" because they certainly cut costs when choosing who to hire. I bought a pack of tank tops that were literally closer in size to a glove than tank top when I took them out the bag. Despite being clearly defective, when I showed the store manager he simply shrugged and refused to exchange or refund the item. Shocking service. Needless to say I will never shop here again and will actively discourage others from doing so. This will be the most expensive $8 they ever saved. read more

I never bought anything here but I am fascinated by the business model. So this place looks like a thrift store and has tons of random looking tees and hoodies in the window. However, I was encouraged to go in so I went ahead and discovered some high end clothing and shoes. Nothing in the store is used and everything is obtained by way of surplus and department and retail stores. This is a fun place to stumble upon the occasional J. Jill sweater that's in your size or a free people discount shirt. Just check the item carefully that you want to purchase, as I've noticed a lot of damaged items exist here among the good ones. You have to be cautious with your selecting at this store. It's better than a thrift store, but just as crowded as one, and just as many cheap and yucky items. It's hard to see everything now it's so fully stocked. Timed right tho, you can find some real bargains here, like Lucky brand shirts and sweatpants for $20.
