This food is so delicious. Doesn't matter what you get, it's soooo good! Great price ! The baked goods are also amazing. I recommend the captain crunch munchie. I mean it when I say any of the subs are great. Staff is super friendly and the location is great as well. This place is a must see if you are a tourist - lots of art to see here and it's very unique to Eugene. My one and only complaint- on April 20 (any year) they get everyone's order wrong, I swear. I have been on a serious Cheba Hut kick lately, ever since discovering The Dank toasted sub. The Dank is a glorious pizza sub (marinara, cheese, salami & pepperoni, veggies) that satisfies my regular craving for the flavors of pizza without the price (and guilt of eating) an entire pie. Trust me when I say to order your Dankness on garlic bread with bacon AND avocado - you can thank me later. If you're having an intense case of the munchies (or drunchies) as I often do late at night, try ordering one of their chocolate chip cookies as well. Chiba hut is a good sandwich shop so far. I've only had one sub, but it was really tasty. I had the afghani. A turkey sub with jalapenos. For me, a good sandwich is because of the bread. I had their garlic bread for mine and it was really great. Honestly, I could do without the pot references for their foods, but I can get over that because it was a good sandwich shop. We were looking for a yummy sandwich shop when driving through Eugene and this place hit the spot! Great sandwiches for the price. It's not super kid friendly (we had 3 little kids with us at the time) with all the marijuana paraphernalia plastered on the walls, but you can't expect much different with a name like Chen's Hut... Hands down my favorite sandwich shop. The employees are ALWAYS friendly and more than knowledgeable about the menu options and items. I love walking in the door as I am always greeted with happy faces and smiles. The different sandwich options you have to choose from makes ordering something delicious every time, a guarantee. Let me start by saying that when this place gets things right they make a great sandwich and the pretzel bites are good. BUT they rarely have gotten my wife's or my orders right, or they're out of something. It's frustrating when you get home and open your sandwich to see that it's lacking something. Not only that but my wife and I ordered the pretzel bites and after we paid they said they were out of them so they said instead of refunding us they'd make a note and we could get them free next time we came in. Well it was a little over a month till we came in again and I brought this up and the guy said they throw those notes away after a month (would have been nice to know), and he couldn't give them to us for free. We ventured into the Cheba Hut during their grand opening last weekend. There was a mile-long line, but it moved quickly and the staff was unbelievably friendly considering how many kids they were dealing with. We ordered several "nugs" to try out the offerings: The Humboldlt, with garlic cream cheese and guac was my fave. We also got the Magic Mushroom (portabellas that I expected to be grilled, but were raw and tasty, nonetheless), another guac type veggies sandwhich, and a turkey/bacon nug. They offer tons of veggies in the assembly line, as well as some house made condiments like chipotle mayo and honey mustard. The bread was tasty and there were many options for that, as well. My only complaint was that they weren't particulary warm after the assembly process. All in all, a fun little place. Cool artwork and interesting reading material scattered about. It almost isn't worth writing a review, i mean... do see see all the stars on others?? That is pretty clear that this is a great place to eat. I live in Washington now, but i was born an raised in Eugene. I come back a few times a month and make sure that i always go to Cheba Hut. Its outstanding, and most of the long time employee's know who i am, I've been a loyal customer since the beginning. Not once have i had a bad experience. They are all friendly, and easy going. Their food is unmatched in the sammy department. I have yet to find something better, or comparable for that matter. I get the AK-47 on garlic herb with lettuce, tomato, pickle, mushroom, olive, onion, little bit of mayo, parm oregano, salt and pepper. Hands down the best sub there! Only thing i think sucks is the parking :/ pretty sure even the employee's can agree on that one, and it isnt their fault, its just the way it is. And guys- where did the punch cards go??? Hello! I've been coming here for over 3 years now and every time I go it's an excellent sandwich. Never been disappointed and the staff is always so friendly! Definitely worth going! I highly recommend the white widow and the pretzel nuggets are some of the best I've ever had. It goes perfect with the honey mustard they have. Also look for the rice krispy goo balls. When you walk in you'll notice brand new seating and a great atmosphere with all the decorations on the wall. A pretty happenin' place with friendly crew. I thought the menu was pretty veg-friendly in addition to the standard meat sub fare. I had the magic mushroom sub. I thought the helpings were very generous for the price. I liked the bread and ingredients. However, the sauces were very salty. Maybe it was a bad batch or something. I also thought the portabello mushrooms would have been MUCH better if they were sauteed or grilled before going into the sandwich. I have been going to Cheba Hut for years and I must say they have not failed me yet! The consistency in their hot subs and super friendly employees, I always enjoy my experience here. Keeping true to roots, this place hires what they desire; stoner idiots with a combined brain power of half a meatball. Ordered ahead online to show up some 15 minutes later where I was then informed it'd be an additional 15 minutes to wait for my sando. Annoying yet tolerable. But after waiting a total 30minutes(half my Lunch) for a sandwhich I was then asked by one of the jet-puffed employees who was visibly off the tooka if I had an order I was waiting on. Not to sure how this place is still operable but needless to say I had them cancel my overpriced, sub-par, soggy, half-ass'd mess of a sandwich and anything else that comes out of this place. Best subs in town. The first time I went in I thought it was a little pricey, but have had no problem forking over the cash countless times upon my returns. The Hazy Choke is my recommendation, slap a little hummus and bacon on it, with the chipotle mayo. That's a sandwich I'd pay $2 more for. The staff is always friendly, and helpful, and hospitable, unlike other places around that try to "cater to the counter culture" whatever that means. In these kinds of places you expect to find exhausted, uninterested employees who make you feel like a massive burden on them for stepping into the establishment. But not at Cheba, it's like visiting friends who get excited about making some bomb food for you. The egg salad is also a champ. I will agree that the bread can be a little tough sometimes. With a crunchier exterior than most people are used to. This can make eating the sandwich a little more of a chore than you expect. But as someone who has handled bread a good bit in a restaurant setting, I can say that this is most likely due to the higher quality of bread. It absolutely never gets that awful styrofoam texture that has made me throw out more than one sandwich from Subway. All in all. This is my favorite sandwich shop in the area. Sandwhiches are pretty good, but I'm getting tired of something being wrong with my order every time I go in. They tend to over-sauce the sandwiches so I ask for it on the side, more than 90% of the time, they just forget to give me the sauce or they put it on sandwich anyway. I miss it so much. I currently live in California, but went to Oregon for college. Oregon is the only other state I would be willing to live in and I think Cheba Hut is a big reason why. By far my favorite sandwich shop in Eugene. If Ike's ever closed down, I think I would have to move back to Oregon. There's a Cheba Hut in San Diego, but if I was going to move purely based on a sandwich shop, I would prefer to be in Eugene than San Diego. When I'm feeling down, good weather makes me feel even worse about being sad. I don't have that problem in Eugene. Anyways, I wish Doordash or Uber Eats could extend their delivery service to cross state lines. I'll wait 9 hours to get a Cheba Hut sandwich and I'll pay whatever shipping and handling fee that needs to be paid. It would be crazy unfortunate if I got the wrong order after a 9 hour doordash delivery. I'd probably still eat it and be happy, they don't have any bad options on the their menu! read more
