This is your average Checkers with average service with a regular and pollock drive-thru. The parking lot is usually a little crowded and they have a cute little eating area outside with about 3-4 tables. I've come here dozens of times, mainly to enjoy the salty seasoned fries. I really like their Deep Sea Double fish sandwich also. This time I tried the new Prime Rib sandwich which I will attest was quite tasty. read more

Its hard to find Checkers around here so I always hit one when its lunch time. Its a little of a challenge in getting into the lot especially if you pass the entrance but once you are in and orient yourself to the right area for the drive thru line you are good. They actually share a driveway and a parking lot with a strip center. They have a drive-thru lane on either side of their tiny building and also outdoor seating. I went through the drive-thru and ordered a small spicy chicken sandwich combo for $5.48. I found the sandwich to be sufficiently spicy without being annoyingly hot or the heat lingering too long in my mouth. The flavor of the french fries were a surprise and amazing. They tasted as though they were dipped into a batter seasoned like KFC's original recipe chicken prior to being cooked in the fryer. Whatever you do, make sure you get the fully loaded fries. Basically, checker fries covered with bacon, cheese, and ranch. That's all four food groups right there and meets your daily requirement of awesome. I wash down my fries with a double checkerburger with cheese. Their two for 4 dollar sandwiches are your best bet. Checkers is good for fast food, definitely beats McDonalds or Burger King in my book. Obviously not healthy food, but it's fast, cheap and tastes great. Only complaints are that the large fries (while amazing!) are tiny for a "large" and the outdoor seating can be unpleasant if the wind blows the wrong way since the dump is across the street. I use to not be a big fan of this place but once I had the Checker's Cheese Champs I was hooked. They use to have them on their value menu, 2 for $5. I haven't had them since they took it off the value menu. Now I get the Big Buford meal. I am not a big fan of the seasoned fries because I like my fries plain but they are OK. The prices are more than McDonald's and Wendy's but about the same price at Burger King. They taste better than most fast food places and I like their desserts. I've had Checkers in the past and didn't remember being disappointed. The experience at this location was pretty bad. I ordered a cheeseburger, fries, and chocolate shake. The food was cold and the shake had an artificial aftertaste to it. With Five Guys a few minutes down the road, I don't see any reason to go here. read more

I love Checkers, but this place has some major flaws. The biggest complaint, in which I just filed with their corporate and Montgomery County, is that they are falsely advertising the calories on their menu. All their chicken is way off. Also The chicken would have been warmer if I held it under my armpit for a minute. The parking lot it is in is extremely dangerous. Burgers are perfectly cooked, the patty density is just right-not so little that you are getting ripped off and not too much that you need extra condiments. With that said, the classic Checkers burger has sufficient flavor that you can just order it as pictured! The FRIES are out of this world!!! Pepper and salt on a perfectly auburn fried potato stick? Yes, please! I also tried the BACONZILLA from my daughter. I'm not all "bacon-is-my-life-add-it-to-everything" crazy like her, but the bacon was real fried bits-bonus! The management here does a great job. The lines always move quickly, the staff is polite, and the food is always hot and freshly made. I got exactly what I expected and more - I got a tasty fast food meal, and I had a great experience with the drive- through host, Lauren. Love the name! . The cheeseburger was tasty but could have used a bit of salt. I always order burgers plain (I'm not a condiment fan) and it usually takes places a bit longer to do it that way. But I got my whole meal so fast I thought they must have made a mistake and accidentally given me one with the usual toppings, but no, it was exactly right. The fries were seasoned well. And I got an apple pie to finish off my meal - this is an old-fashioned fast food apple pie - deep fried with a flaky crust. And I got that whole meal in less than 2 minutes. That left me time to park in the lot with the windows down, enjoying my meal, listening to the Checkers flags flapping in the wind - it was just so darned pleasant. I can't remember the last time I had such a pleasant experience at a fast food restaurant. Back to the drive-through host Lauren - seeing her cheerful face first thing just starts the experience off right, and then she was super efficient and friendly. When I said I hadn't eaten at a Checkers in probably 20 years, she said "I'm so happy you're here today!" She made me so happy! Went to checkers late night on a Saturday and ordered food for myself and other people. Once we got home everyone started eating and when I opened my burger it felt pretty light. It was light bc there was no effing patty meat... it wasn't worth driving all the way back from germantown. In all honesty... this place is a dump. Perhaps it's the location, because trust me, I've been to several Checker's along the east coast (especially in Florida) and they were WAY nicer. The restuarant is just plain crummy, and it doesn't help being on a busy road where you frequently find truck drivers stopping for lunch. As some have said, the staff is rude. I ordered no mayo on my burger and it took several repetitions of "no mayo" to get my point across. When I got my food... well... let's be honest... it sucked. The patty looked like something I would get in my high school cafeteria and the bun had a green tint to it. The bacon was completely uncooked and everything was just soggy... The best part of the entire meal was the ketchup on the hamburger. However, the fries were pretty good. Overall, I'll never go back here, and unfortunantely, this experience has led me to avoid the Checkers company as a whole. While it is economical ($6.98 for a whole meal), I'll pay the few extra dollars (or even cents) to go to Five Guys, McDonalds, or even Burger King right across the road. read more
