The service here was absolutely terrible today. The drive thru process is confusing. I dont know any drive thru restaurants that you drive BACK around and receive your food through the passenger window. First, I drove through the wrong entrance, (and so did 1 other car- if I didnt stop her)....when I said to the cashier it was confusing she said an uneducated, ignorant, unprofessional remark and kept going on and on. I kindly drove around and requested a refund (which she was nasty about) while talking about how she knows her job. Kindness goes a long way... I see why restaurants are closing daily in this community. Im sad the owner doesnt know this is the kind of service his patrons are receiving. read more

Stood at the window for 15 minutes before I was even acknowledged. There were only about three cars in the line. The lady opened the window, looked at told me she wasn't going to be able to serve me because she was busy and I asked her I said well if I was in a car, you would serve me. And she just looked at me and closed the window. I think that was very rude and I absolutely could have been served especially after sitting there 15 minutes basically my whole lunch break. Two stars because the employee at the window was pleasant and food was ready pretty fast. But the food quality wasn't all that great. This location is drive-thru or pick-up window only; no inside seating. Plenty of parking available. The Checker Burger looked nothing remotely like the menu picture; incredibly flat and lacking substance - small burger patty, barely any lettuce, world's smallest tomato slice, and sloppy condiments. My picture says it all. They think this sorry burger is worth $2.50? It's on the 2 for $5 menu. The fries were decent - typical Checkers fries with their seasoning. A tad bit greasy. The chicken bites were okay once covered in honey mustard dipping sauce. Without the sauce they were so-so. read more

Finally tried Checkers for the first time today and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I ordered through the Checkers app and the order was listed as ready only 3 minutes later. The drive thru is always busy so I picked it up at the order window. The customer service was fine and the food was decent. I got the fish sandwich, checker's burger, chili fried, and funnel cake fries. The only thing I wouldn't recommend are the funnel cake fries. There are 5 outdoor tables with umbrellas for shade. I recommend using their app as today was my first time using it and I already have two coupons for free items. read more

Stay AWAY! Slowest food service ever!!!!!! Stuck in the drive-through for 40 minutes with only two cars ahead of me ! I would've left, but there was no way out! I do not care what any of you say about this place. These people work their butt off for pay. There was only one single human being running the entire store at night during what might as well be hurricane weather. BY HIMSELF. I mean the dedication to do it alone is enough to make me cry wanting to help work with him just to keep company. My fries were perfectly hot and my burger was as it should be! Checkers on Dorchester Road in North Charleston is one of my favorite fast food places in the Charleston area. They are fast and the sandwiches and fries are tasty and fresh when you get them. The location is very convenient and easy to get to and in and out when you are in the area. The staff here works hard to get you everything and is very friendly and cool. Checkers is one of those quintessential all American fast food burger places that everyone should try if they have an opportunity. My family and I have been going to Checkers restaurants since I was young. Their hamburgers and hotdogs are absolutely delicious and come in several styles. They also offer a variety of chicken as well as fish sandwiches We all love their french fries because of their unique seasonings and crispiness. Their milkshakes and cinnamon apple pies are also fantastic. Their Strawberry Cheesecake Layered Sundaes and Apple Pie Layered Sundaes likewise look really good. Their prices are very reasonable and their service is fast. While they don't offer indoor dining, they do offer several outdoor tables with shade umbrellas which is fun to do when the weather's pleasant. read more

I have gone here several times for my husband and dad as they both adore Checkers. I am glad I gave this place a 2nd Chance because this first time I went here it took forever to go through the drive thru. These last two times we have been, the line has been much quicker, even at peak times. Also, the last two times the servers at the window have been friendly, unlike the first time (first time they seemed very apathetic). The hubs always gets double checker burgers, and I do enjoy their fries. He said the burgers have always looked and tasted fresh and the last time we got fries they were piping hot. My cousin ordered mozzarella sticks, and when I tried one I was surprised to find that it wasn't all that bad for a fast food cheese stick! Another great thing about this location is that it is open very late, so if you are wanting late night drunk food or leaving a late concert (and Nick's is too packed) then you could come here! Coming here is a crapshoot. One day you can be in & out of the line in no time flat, and others, you're literally stuck (no way to pull out) for 45 minutes. On the plus side, however, I've never had an experience where the food was cold, or the order was wrong, so that's the big plus for them and in all honesty what keeps me going back. read more

This is probably the best place to order from late night on door dash. They always deliver and by God they get it right... Even more right that any fast food chain. Horrible service. Funnel cake fries were not completely cooked. Forgot to give me my requested water. We had to pull around to the side and the lady who brought our food out did not say thank you or speak at all. She just shoved the bag into the car window. While traveling back to Columbia from Charleston, we stopped at Checkers for ice cream. We don't have one in our area and really wanted to try it. Our experience at this location was awful. There was one car at the first drive thru that was just sitting there with the driver's side door open for an extended period of time. So, we went to the second one. There was no ice cream menu so we just had to rely on the menu on my cell phone. We ordered 2 Oreo sundaes. We pulled around to the window and the cashier is hanging out of the window. She proceeds to say that they are out of lids for the ice cream. Um, so? I said OK and she just kept staring at me like she wanted us to leave. She asked if we were going to eat the ice cream now and we said yes and asked someone in the back if they could serve the sundaes without lids. Well, that was weird. We should have just driven off at that point but we paid $8 for the ice cream. It tasted like the same soft serve from Ryan's or Golden Corral. I'm not familiar with that area but it didn't seem like the best part of town. I definitely won't be back. read more

we waited in the drive thru for 30 minutes, the other line was getting their order taken but ours was just silent. we didn't even get a "can you please hold". we ended up having to drive up to the window to get our order taken. overall the food is alright, but it was put together VERY sloppy. we were also missing items from our order. i would never come back to this location. the service is terrible and the food just isn't worth all the hassle. read more
