I visited this restaurant around 8:00 p.m. on a Monday evening while in town for a business trip. It was conveniently located near my hotel, and my first impression was very positive. The restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere, was busy with guests, and I was seated within just a few minutes of arriving. Unfortunately, the experience began to decline after I was seated. I waited approximately 10-15 minutes before anyone acknowledged me. While waiting, I looked through the menu and was surprised to find it noticeably dirty, which wasn't the impression I expected from a restaurant of this caliber. When my server finally arrived, she was polite but didn't seem particularly welcoming or engaging. She appeared stressed, which made the service feel rushed rather than hospitable. I ordered a Diet Dr Pepper and my meal at the same time since I had already decided what I wanted. It then took another 10 or more minutes for my drink to arrive. Shortly afterward, someone delivered bread with honey butter, which was excellent. However, no bread plate, napkin, or silverware accompanied it, so I had to flag down another employee before I could enjoy it. After waiting another 20-plus minutes, my steak and fries finally arrived. I had ordered the steak medium rare, but it was burned on one side, barely seared on the other, and when I cut into it, it was blue rare--nearly raw. I asked my server to send it back, and she promptly took it to the kitchen. About 15 minutes later, a replacement steak arrived. Unfortunately, while the opposite side was now burned, the inside was cooked to medium well. I let my server know this was still unacceptable, and she asked if I would like another steak prepared. I agreed, requesting simply that it be cooked medium rare without being burned. To the restaurant's credit, the third steak was prioritized and delivered by who I believe was the manager. She asked me to cut into it to confirm it was cooked correctly. Although the replacement was noticeably smaller and thinner than the original, it was cooked to a proper medium rare, so I accepted it. By that point, however, my fries were completely cold. The manager apologized briefly but never returned to check on the meal or my overall experience. My server didn't return until I was nearly finished eating, at which point she asked if everything was okay. I simply requested the check. What should have been about a 30-minute dinner stretched to well over an hour, and after a long day of business travel, I was ready to return to my hotel. I wasn't expecting my meal to be completely comped, but after multiple mistakes and significant delays, a small gesture of goodwill--such as discounting the entrée or even comping the soda--would have gone a long way. Overall, this restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere, and I believe the food has the potential to be very good when prepared correctly. However, the service, management's follow-up, and overall attention to the guest experience fell well below what I would expect from a restaurant of this quality. I hope they can improve these areas because the restaurant certainly has the potential to provide an excellent dining experience. read more

Really sad excuse of a meal and even worse employees. The host has walked around. Smacking gum are coming from the back, chewing food. The kitchen is sort of open to the restaurant, and the staff sits there and congregate in one particular server was cussing at the kitchen crew and being really loud. It's obvious that they don't prefer singles because the table next to me, a party of six got a lot of attention from the manager seeing how they were doing and I got completely ignored. I got sat next to the meat counter. And look at my food this is a pathetic display of food a tiny overcooked piece of chicken and a popper mashed potatoes no garnish. The gravy was quite bland and in a plastic cup really people you can do better. Who knows maybe I was checking the place out for a party of 50 but I wouldn't bring them here now. On 5/27/2026 I had a business dinner with several clients and the venue I chose was West Texas Chophouse, which was the right choice. The restaurant put us in our own room for better dining experience and our server was Meah who did a wonderful job. I personally started with a Caesar salad followed by the boneless ribeye cooked medium rare and it was delicious!! Of the 11 or 12 guests I had that evening, 6 of them ordered the boneless ribeye and all were satisfied! For desert I had a couple of Basil Hayden Old Fashioneds, which was a wonderful end to a great dinner. The overall experience was simply great and the restaurant itself is extremely nice with a great vibe. I highly highly recommend!!! read more

We had a large party and they seated us in a private room near the front. We had great service from Liz. The food was served all at once no one was waiting for theirs. The food was good. I have the ascedero green chili burger. There was a mixup with the cooking temperature. But they graciously replaced it. Chili poblano soup was fantastic. I recommend everyone to try it not too spicy but very tasty. The drinks were spot on, and the wine that I had the sweet red was absolutely fabulous ! At 59, I'm ticking off a bucket list item. Driving across America. I am currently in El Paso, TX having started in Tampa, FL and will end up in Fresno, CA. so, I have been thinking about steak & West Texas Chophouse looks very good. Indeed, they lived up to their Yelp reviews. I had a 20 oz. Bone in Ribeye (the way God intended ) cooked medium with backed potato. I won't be slapping my mother but I will call her later this evening , to sing the praises of this excellent piece of meat. Particularly the char. It is the best I have ever had. If this placed served a dish that consisted of nothing but the end pieces (where they hug the bone) I would have to consider moving here. That char was perfectly blackened & bursting with flavor. The baked potato (which was backed in an oven & NOT microwaved) was very good also. The Alex's Philly Cheesecake was not as good as the steak but it got the job done. I sat at the bar so the service was immediate but the unsweetened tea tasted like I was the second person who drank some all day. This place is large (it has 'Texas' right in the name!) & because you have to do parking lot gymnastics in the full parking lot, I expected a little wait on this hot Sunday afternoon. Happily there was no wait. It has a high barn-like roof that amplifies customers talking to a semi-comfortable background cacophony but the steak was so good I entered into my own little world. Service is always nice and friendly. Ambiance is peaceful and nice. Sports on the TV on a Sunday so it's perfect. This is the most consistent steak restaurants in El Paso IMO. Usually cooked perfectly. Great variety of drinks. Today I was a little disappointed. I paid for dehydrated grasslike asparagus. With the quality of this restaurant I'm really surprised they served and charged for the asparagus. It was like dry grass. I've never seen asparagus like that in the store let alone served at a quality restaurant. My steak was a little undercooked for half the steak. Their heat wasn't consistent. Half my steak was cooked perfect medium and the other half was rare. There was a lot of grizzle in this steak today. It was my only bad experience for food out of many visits. Stopped in for dinner with a coworker on a work trip. The restaurant was pretty close to full, but we were seated right away. I'm not sure if our server was new or just in the weeds. I would've rated a four without the subpar service. My old fashioned was great. I ordered a ribeye and was pretty sure it wasn't when it hit the table. Our server seemed a little overwhelmed with what seemed like a very demanding six top seated behind us. My steak had a good flavor and temperature. When my bill came it was less than I expected. That's when I noticed I was charged for a sirloin. I was thinking my ribeye was pretty lean. Mystery solved. Very nice dining room and decor. Music wasn't too loud, and lights weren't too bright. Service- Friday night dinner wait was only 5 minutes. However, big group wait was about 30 minutes. Angel, server, very nice and prompt with drinks. Angel, server, must have been in training because he was slow in coming back with a requested such such pepper, more ranch etc. It was a busy place, But you gotta up your game on busy nights. Ambiance- I like the decor with the full size trees with lights and white leaves. Noise level way to LOUD! I really enjoyed the upbeat country music. Ok let me start by saying I enjoy the food here and think the steaks are some of the best in town ... BUT and BIG BUT- lately it's been a huge miss. Don't dare order to go- they do 0 quality check, I order frequently and I've never gotten a fully correct order. The mango salad is really good, but they always, I do mean always forget the dressing (and at least one side and often an entire entree), it's running joke in our house. Eating in is- ok- it's pretty loud- and the two tops are very small and placed awkwardly. My wife came into town recently and I wanted to give her a walk home to Texas dinner and West Texas chophouse did not disappoint. From the great Customer service , after they noticed my wife did not really care for her ribeye so they offered to get her a new one cooked medium rare which made the world of a difference in the flavor.the prices and portion size of the meals the entire dinner was a great experience. I had the bone in 20 ounce ribeye with loaded baked potato while my wife had a 16 ounce ribeye and we both had a delicious Caesar salad as our appetizer. The complementary bread to kickoff the evening was really good as well. The restaurant was clean and not overcrowded and the price to food quality and amount ratio was spot on. We will definitely be back to try more of the appetizers as well as the cocktails. This place is really a Gem and I recommend you all to check it out when visiting El Paso. read more

Extremely Disappointed, Multiple Issues Throughout I had high expectations for this restaurant given its chophouse reputation, but our experience was disappointing from start to finish. We ordered the bone marrow appetizer, iceberg wedge, Caesar salad, and two kids meals to go. Unfortunately, nearly every aspect of our order had problems. The bone marrow was excessively salty to the point of being inedible. We tried to salvage it by scraping away the salt, but ultimately had to throw it out, I was not happy as you know bone marrow is not cheaply priced. The salsa macha accompanying it was also missing. My Caesar salad arrived with wilted lettuce literally hanging out of the container, clearly not fresh enough to serve. One kids meal had the wrong side item, no silverware was provided, and our drinks were forgotten entirely. We returned to address these issues, and while the manager was apologetic and remade our order, the replacements were still subpar. My LARGE salad was noticeably smaller than what I originally ordered, and the salsa macha, when finally provided, was very mediocre at best. I've had a lot better. I'm typically understanding when restaurants make one or two mistakes, but when an entire order is executed this poorly, it's hard to overlook. I understand they were busy, but they seriously need to execute better under those conditions. For a chophouse at this price point, the quality and attention to detail should be far better. 1.5 stars and the last steakhouse I will ever try. Steak was flavored well, but dry like it stayed under the warmer too long. The baked potato was as dry as the west Texas desert. And who puts bbq sauce on a baked potato? Gross. The chicken was also as dry as cardboard and the waitress was slow and rude. This place can kick rocks. It's also super loud and obnoxious the entire time you're there, sorry, not sorry, but I don't feel like I should have to yell to communicate in a sit down restaurant. For my first ever visit to El Paso, I arrived late on a Friday night. Starving but also craving a steak, I drove down the street after getting my rental car and picked a steakhouse that was close to the hotel. West Texas Chophouse was the winner that night. I walked in and was greeted by the manager and I told him I was just looking to grab a bite to eat but I didn't know if reservations were required. The restaurant was packed with people. He got me a small table near the kitchen and the rest is history. As I was walking to the table, I took note of how classy it was. I saw several couples here and it's definitely a place you could take a date. Since steak is my death row meal and I was in Texas, it was a no-brainer on what I was going to eat. I ended up with a dry-aged bone-in ribeye with sauteed mushrooms and a baked potato. First came the bread, which was fantastic. Round, warm rolls with a fluffy inside served with butter. I could have eaten a dozen of them but I had to be careful not to get too full. The steak arrived on a wooden cutting board with the mushrooms and baked potato. It was a nice presentation for sure. Everything tasted great and was exactly what I was looking for. The star of the show was obviously the steak. Dry-aging changes the flavor profile of beef due to reducing the moisture cotent. It's often described as "earthy" or "nutty" but I relate it more as a pungent-like taste, similar to that of bleu cheese. It was cooked to perfection and I ate everything. Even scraped the meat off the bone. I know there's a lot of steakhouses in El Paso and while I tried a lot of them during my week stay, West Texas Chophouse is definitely one of the better ones. read more

Steak was chewy, but not dry. But the quality the meat was lacking in the ribeye and the filet mignon, it tasted like a cheap sirloin steak. Thickness of the steak was only in half inch. I would expect better like an inch to an inch and a quarter. The mushrooms were sliced so thin as to be dry; they are meant to add flavor to the steak, like a pat of butter on the steak. Service was not rushed which I like, but the attentiveness to the water glass and the wine service was poor. I was only asked if I wanted a refill once. Our waitress was pleasant, but seemed to be overworked meaning she didn't come by our table very often. The white potato was not fluffy as it should be, it was undercooked. The kitchen over did the sour cream, too much was put on it. I can cook a better quality steak at home if I buy it from Coronado meat market on Mesa. I can do the sides better than the kitchen. I was in town for business. When looking for restaurants this place popped up first for great reasons. Our group of three showed up and were seated promptly. The server was great, service was fast and the food is delicious. I got the New York steak with the loaded baked potato and it was delicious! Must try one of their steaks if you go here. If you come for steak, order other cuts other than fillet mignon. I ordered medium rare and friend ordered medium cooked fillet mignon. Both pieces came overcooked and dry. I gave mine back for replacement. When the replacement came, when I cut, I knew it was not overcooked but the more I cut, it was very raw in the inside. This steakhouse does not know how to cook fillet mignons but the other cuts looked good on the other table. Appetizers were not good either - chicharrones were over cooked, queso fondido was good which is just melted cheese and tortilla. Food quality is 1 star, service is 3.5 stars. Waiter tried but didn't bother to ask about the replacement and I didnt bother to give it back. If I come back, I will order the other cuts of steak. Atmosphere was nice though. read more

The rib eye steak here is really awesome and totally surpassed my expectations :D ! I was visiting El Paso back in early May of this year. This restaurant was really close to my hotel and to the El Paso airport, and was absolutely perfect for my needs :) ! Since I was a solo traveler and because I anticipated that it would be pretty packed by the time I set foot there for dinner, I decided to order my dinner ahead of time for pickup :) ! The staff was super friendly and courteous :) ! And they promptly brought my food out right when I came in to pick it up :D ! It's a good thing I ordered ahead because there was no seating available the evening I came by to pick up. Not even a single seat was open at the bar. I would definitely love to stop in again, with or without company :D ! The ambiance is really nice and casual :) ! And it's perfect to eat there on your own, or with friends and family :D !
