I had a terrible experience with the waiting staff. This was by far the worst service I have ever received in a restaurant. My waitress was slacking off and hanging out in the back talking to another guy that works there. She took ten minutes to even greet us, it took forever for our meals to come out, when they did they were cold. The appetizers didn't come out until 10 minutes after the meal. Just had a horrible experience here with my family. When we received our dinner salads, before our main meal, we had not yet received silverware. Before we could catch the waitress' attention, she was gone. We waited a few minutes to see if she would come back and she didn't. I got up to find her and couldn't, so I found a waiter who was not in the middle of anything else. I asked him where I would be able to find silverware. He told me, that I could get it when my server brought it to my table. When I told him we already had our food, he just stared at me. After waiting a few more minutes, we asked another server and they finally brought 4 rolls of silverware and said we would have to ask for the other two later because they were out right now. We got our meal and asked for more silverware. Two out of the six meals were cold. The service was just lousy. Our waitress was rushed and not pleasant. The person who paid for the meal, decided not to tip due to the awful service we received. My daughter had left her DS case in the booth and when I went to retrieve the it and the waitress saw me and said, "Thanks for the tip." I had not known that a tip wasn't given until after I told the story to the rest of my party. The waitress saw that I wasn't the one who paid for the meal, so I'm not sure what she thought she was accomplishing with that comment. Maybe she will learn that if she gives better service, she will receive a tip next time...but, I doubt it. Not going back. read more

I ordered a bacon cheese burger. My bacon was extremely chewy while my burger was burnt to a crisp around the edges, somehow dry and still rare in the middle. I couldn't even eat it. We were seated at a table where our server, Nicholas, greeted us in an appropriate amount of time. He took our drink and appetizer order and returned shortly with drinks. We asked for a few minutes to order dinner as I was still deciding. When he returned, he took our order and shortly after he left, another server dropped off our appetizers. He showed up right away to assist her in dropping them off and at that point we had to ask for silverware as we weren't provided with any. He brought the silverware over immediately and we began to enjoy our appetizers. The cheddar bites and spinach dip were incredible. My salad arrived to the table within just a few minutes after the appetizers were dropped off, which seemed a little too soon for me. Nick stopped over and cleared my salad bowl as soon as I was finished with it. At that point, I asked him for a box so that I could box up the remainder of my spinach dip and get the plates out of the way to make room for the entrees. Some time had passed and Nick stopped back over again to ask one of the children at the table if he wanted a refill on his strawberry lemonade, he politely declined and my boyfriend and I both said, 'just water' ... Nick returned a few minutes later with another strawberry lemonade... I then asked Nick to please remove the stack of plates we had built at the end of our table and once again, asked for a box for my appetizer. A few minutes later he returns, with our entrees. After placing our entrees down, he asked if everything looked good, we all agreed that it did. I started into my Key West Chicken and Shrimp by eating the shrimp first. They were cold! I then felt the rest of the meal and it was room temperature at best. The other 3 meals at the table were a more appropriate temperature. I would have expressed my lack of warmth in my dish, had Nick ever stopped back to ask how everything was going.. We finally saw Nick again when everyone was ready boxes. He then brought over boxes and the check very promptly. He returned just as soon as everything was boxed up to make sure the 'check looked good' (more or less checking to see if I wanted him to take it yet)... The check was all correct. He then left, and did not clear any of our now empty plates from the table. I finally decided what I was going to tip... Being a server, I struggle with leaving 'poor' tips. I handed him the cash to cover the check and his tip and we left. Between the poor service and the cold food... A 2 is the best I could give. For Nick to not understand the words, 'box' and 'no thank you', I just couldn't look past it. Also... Have you ever heard of pre-bussing a table? That's restaurant lingo for getting the dirty inactive dishes out from in front of the guests! I would have loved to talked to a manager, but I never saw one. A successful restaurant has a manager on the floor checking on their guests!! Get it together, Cheddars! I won't even be returning for spinach dip, I guess we are both losing on this one, Cheddars! read more

Have always enjoyed the Buffalo chicken wraps. Got them today and they were wet, runny and sloppy. They were loosely rolled and the ends were left open and untucked. Did not notice this till i picked one up and it fell apart in my hand and everything in it slide out the backside. Couldnt pick others up because they fell apart. I was surprised at the decor inside, expecting more of an Applebee's than something this upscale. Service was friendly but a tad slow. Our waitress was apologetic knowing that we had waited a bit to place our drink order. Hubby decided on the chicken pot pie and was disappointed when he was told they were out. Although they were making more, it would be an extra 25 minutes. Since we were anxious to get home, he selected another entree - chicken tenders. My wife and I went to Cheddars for dinner with another couple. We ordered an appetizer and after a little while, we all ordered dinner. They were pretty busy that night. After approximately 15 minutes, they brought out 3 of the 4 dinners. The waitress informed our friend at that time that they were out of Pot Pie's, which is what she ordered. The waitress said it would take approximately 15 minutes for them to cook her's. Really, 15 minutes more after they delivered the other 3 meals. The kitchen staff should have informed the waitstaff when they were out. Our friend ordered a sandwich which came out fairly quickly but was not how she wanted it. Since the 3 of us were already done eating, our friend only ate 1/2 and took the rest home. Kitchen staff needs better communication with wait staff. read more

I'm local and eat here once every couple months. I just want to say out of everywhere I've ever been, this place has the best onion rings I have ever had. It is the main reason I go here, specifically for them. Phew! The stinky cheese of Lansing, most definitely. The food here is average or slightly above on certain menu items. It has been awhile since I ate there because the last two times I dined (one and two years ago), the service was so lousy. My wife and daughter talked me into giving it another chance this evening. Same story, different night. The waitress took our order but when the orders came, part of the order was missing, and another part was incorrect. The man who brought us the food was different from the waitress, and of course he looked at us like we were crazy and said he would tell our waitress. We waited another six or seven minutes, and I flagged down another waitress since ours had not been seen since taking our order. I felt sorry for the older ladies at the next booth who I swear were probably teenagers when they came into the place. Another few minutes and she finally showed, and I almost sent her to the other booth first because those ladies were just waiting for their check all that time. The same manager has been there for a number of years. Consistently bad service is a refelction of the managerial style and hiring practices. read more

Never again! This is the second time I have been there and again gravely disappointed. I think the only people who like this place do not have taste buds or are absolutely ignorant when it come to food. The Monte Cristo sandwich tasted like someone dipped it in sugar. We drove 3 hours just to go to this Cheddar's since it is the closest to us, originally finding Cheddar's in Savannah GA. The Nachos and Onion Rings are great and affordable. We got the same item as we did before, next time we will try something else. At this location the wait staff was a little slow, not horrible. Well, Cheddar's is two for two now in not excelling at service and good food. About 6 months ago went to Cheddar's and observing rude service, gum ON table (not under like in grade school), and best of all servers at a POS terminal cursing out loud. Classy on all accounts. I guess it is a casual cafe so why not have the staff follow suit. The most recent visit, tonite, was pretty bad as well. The only reason I came back was because a coworker had given me a gift card. It is a restaurant so lets knock the food a little shall we...half rack of ribs - good, not great, many parts of the country would be embarassed by these ribbies, mashed potatoes - great, cole slaw - not hand crafted and thus bad, top sirloin - mediocre at best, no real beefy flavor, texture was mealy and almost like a 'chopped' steak, baked potato - wow, how do you mess this up? heres how, either microwave or steam the crap out of it so that its a strange clumpy texture and not pliable in any way. also why not call it 'loaded' and put some sour cream and a few strands of shredded cheese on it. wow. cookie monster - a great idea and pretty good. the only flaw was the ice cream, get some vanilla bean quality stuff or maybe just skimp on that too. Well done. Ok so time to leave and make the movie showing at 9:35pm. Currently it's 9:05pm, thanks for the bill, here is my gift card and credit card. 5 minutes at the most, right? Try 20 minutes and no movie for you sucka. Gift card malfunction, we can't run it through for some reason. Get the manager involved, no help. I pay in full and am informed to call number on card to check balance. Go outside and call number and there's $20 on it sho nuff. Go back in and talk to manager who is at first ready to stick to his guns that it 'wouldn't go through' however I inform him that I did what the server told me to do and there's $20 on the card. After some mild repetition on the managers part I kick it up a notch and repeat my side and get $20 cash in exchange for the card. Can anyone tell me why these two winners could not CALL THE FREAKIN NUMBER THEMSELVES AND FIND THAT THERE IS $20 ON THE CARD! Wow. Cheddar's used to be good and now is bad. Simple as that. I grew up coming here for dinner when visiting family in the area. We've always loved the food and atmosphere. Today was no different. Our waitress (Amanda!) was sweet and always on top of orders and refills. Our food was delicious (potato soup always is) and we finished our meal with my all-time favorite dessert: cookie monster sundae. The addition of the chopped nuts was unexpected and a hit! We've been here twice when visitng our son and it has always been a pleasant experience with great food and service.

We go to Cheddar's for a quick, easy dinner. I will agree with the other posts that the service can be pretty bad. We've had a drink spilled on us (with profuse apologies, a very embarrassed waitress, and an offer to have the shirt dry-cleaned). They often don't time the food well, so you get your salad and then five minutes later the entrees arrive and you've had no time to enjoy your salad. Small things like giving us napkins and silverware occasionally get overlooked. But sometimes we get really great service. I think it really depends on the waiter you get - their staff is all pretty young. Despite service issues, the food really is great. We LOVE the chips and queso - chips are perfectly made, salsa is sweet and yummy and the queso comes with beef at no added cost. The chicken tenders are delicious - very crispy. The have amazing ranch dressing - people who know their ranch know there's good ranch and bad ranch, and they have the good stuff. Salads are yummy too. The tilapia with mango salsa is also a good choice. As the reviews below stated, don't get the Spasagna. It's just bad. The drink menu has lots of options and is very reasonable. I like the Pomegranate Martini, which I think is $5.50. Plus, they have a full bar. If you're on the west-side, I highly recommend giving it a try to see for yourself. Cheddar's has always been a favorite of mine and they always do a amazing job on my food.My last experience wasn't the best,on 4-12-19 I was with a group of 8 people.First off they had us squished into 2 tables,we didn't even gave enough room for our appitizers,salads and drinks.We asked if after the people with 3 tables left, we could get one of them for more room.We felt like the people moving tables(think one was in charge) gave us attitude about it and we're talking about us but we could hear them talking crap.Well they ended up giving us a table but didn't act happy about it. Our waiter was very nice but was pretty forgetful, forgetting refills and one of the couple's appitizers,he kept saying sorry and running and grabbing it. One of my biggest complaints is the Monster Cookie, they changed the recipe or how they cook it and it isn't even good anymore...it not super soft,it taste way different and over done!
