I've been visiting this place since I was a kid, before they rebuilt the new one:) I love their food and you can't beat it for the prices. However, their customer service STINKS! I ordered take out one day and the bartender we dealt with was super rude and sarcastic with my husband and I. I won't go into detail, but it was bad enough that we did let the manager know and he pretty much denied that the bartender would say such a thing and insisted she must have been joking...Mind you we don't know the bartender girl from Sally, but anywho... It actually irritated me so that I made a complaint to the company online and never heard anything back. So whatever you do just don't expect great service, or you may be dissapointed. read more

Cheddar's is acceptable but not something to write home about. I had fish taco's. The fish was slimy like It was still swimming. The black beans were good and my drink was refilled promptly. Our other entree was a chicken sandwich. It looked unappealing and was dry. Been here a few times. Always had great service and really yummy food. The decor is unique, a giant fish tank, dark cherry wood, and a interesting Fan in the main room. I've been here a few times. It's basically very similiar to an Applebees but I prefer the food here. It is also priced a little lower than Applebees. Service has been above average on all three visits. There is a seperate bar area from the main dining area. They run some pretty good drink specials too. I recommend it for a casual dining lunch or dinner. read more

This place is the Lansing areas best kept secret. The food is fantastic. Mostly made fresh on site. Portions are big, and the prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere and service are great. Where do I start? When first seated server was right there to greet us, took our drink orders and then it went down hill. Went here on a Wednesday evening and there was no wait. Ordered a Chicken Fried Steak with mashed potatoes, and some green beans. Food came out quick and hott. The chicken fried steak was nothing short of amazing, and the gravy was something I'd consider taking a bath in it was so good. So second choice was New Orleans Pasta noodles under cooked we never got our toast with the meals, waited a long time for drink refills. Never cleaned dirty dishes from table once we were done. The service is TOP shelf, even when I get bad service as in food being delayed, the manager is first rate. I was there on Mother's day, it was busy busy busy and we didn't see our meal for about an hour. Went there for lunch once and had heard good things about it. The waiter was rude and seemed to intentionally be slow in his service. Finally I said to our party after an hour of waiting for our lunch, "let's go because clearly they don't want us here." The server who had been nearby doing nothing got an Oh shit! expression on his face and rushed to get us our food. The plates were super hot from having sat under the heat lamps confirming what I had thought. That the food was just sitting under the lamps as our waiter did other things. Sign number two, that our waiter was just letting our food over cook under the heat lamps was that the lettuce for my burger was badly wilted from being under the heat lamp for so long. First of all I will say the food was delicious, but that is the only good thing I can say about this place. Like a lot of the other reviews I found the service to be awful. We had placed our order and 40 minutes later we still had not received it. I asked to speak to a manager who went and checked on it and came back and our ticket had only been in for 15 minutes and our waitress told her we took a long time to order. So basically the manager was saying her waitress was right. After that our waitress had an attitude. When we left we were never told have a good day or anything. The sad thing is I drove an hour there to just eat dinner there for my sons 16th badly with family. I was very disappointed with them. My wife will tell you that I am a food snob. I disagree. I just want good food served promptly by a pleasant person. This is why I generally despise chain restaurants. You normally get premade food served by someone working a part time gig who couldn't care less about your dining experience. Cheddars was not like this. Firstly, all the food was fresh, made from scratch, and tasty. Not haute cuisine by any means, but they don't pretend that it is. Secondly, our server, Kaitlin was absolutely stellar! Friendly, courteous, and upbeat even though it was Father's Day and she was slammed! Our apps came out quickly, followed by perfectly timed entrees, our glasses were never empty, and she was kind enough not to interrupt our daddy daughter time unnecessarily. What a pro! Thanks Kaitlin. If you ever move to Oakland county, look me up at the Union Woodshop, I will see that you are hired on the spot! I ordered the Monte Cristo tonight. It was a large helping, but was prepared unlike any I'd ever had before. Typically, the batter is a french toast batter. This had a thick batter, like you'd see on fish and it was deep fried. It was far too greasy for me. I brought part of it home, but the grease is bothering me, so I won't be finishing it. We have been to Cheddars several times. Often we have to wait from 15 minutes to an hour, so i was surprised today when we were seated immediately. They have always had good food and service in the past, but today's visit was disappointing. We waited over 1/2 hour for our food and when my order came it was not complete. It took 15 minutes to get the remainder of my items. Our waiter basically ignored us, never refilling our drinks or checking to see how our meal was. My family and our close friends came about 2 hours to come to this establishment. We tried to make a reservation earlier this week and we were told we could not. We also called 30 min before we arrived and they informed us that we were not allowed to be on the waiting list unless we had at least one member of our party at the establishment and when we arrived they seemed shocked a group had arrived. We have now been sitting here for over a half hour while at least 15 people have been seated. When we arrived a gentleman spoke to a member of our group and said that we could not be sat sooner unless we were in a booth. We have multiple members with handicaps and a booth would make it worse. We were not treated as important as other patrons and the staff was rude. We love the food here and traveled a long way to be here so it would have been nice to be able to plan ahead and be treated like a priority We ordered onion rings and we were told that they were out. This was what we came here to have. We told our waitress and they said they would "make it work". Are they going to think really hard and hope they happen or did they lie to us about not having the ingredients. We after now an hour are finally being sat. I just finished dining at Cheddars and it was the best dining experience that I have had in years. Our waiter, Victor was simply outstanding. He was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We could not decide what dessert we wanted. Victor paid for one of our desserts and Wow! They were both delicious. Took a big crowd there today, who are mostly vegetarians. We had great food. We also were impressed with the low prices. I had an Asian salad minus the chicken. Very tasty and little bit spicy but I could've asked for no dressing. Someone enjoyed their fried chicken and smashed potatoes. Another person was having the mashed potato soup but found out they had bacon in it and send it back. Several took vegetable plants and enjoyed them. Others had some sandwiches that were delicious.
