Great ribs for the third time in a row and the hot buttered croissants were fabulous. I had the sampler trio with chicken tenders, spinach dip and queso dip with chips All good and server was helpful with box and to go cups.

    A worm on my broccoli

I'm not one to usually complain, but lastnight was a horrible experience at Cheddar's and this is normally my favorite place to eat. We got seated in a decent amount of time, but I know waiters have bad days. But she wasn't very nice or attentive at all! But my main reason for leaving a review this time is because it started with my salad I started mixing it up and found a dead flying bug in it! I couldn't get my waiter so I stopped another and showed her and she showed my waiter.... she laughed, then got a manager, which she got me another salad. Like seriously this is my food that I just found a bug in, why laugh about it, sadly I didnt get a picture of this bug. After noticing that I started checking rest my food and I found a worm on my broccoli... she got the manager and the manager told me it was garlic! Which you can clear see it wasn't, you can see the cocoon!

Stopped there with my wife and a good friend around 6:00 pm on a Friday night. Normally that would require a twenty-minute wait for a seat but we were seated immediately. I have eaten here maybe eight or nine times and they have a great variety of meals to choose from. This night I returned to have the Tilapias with mango salsa with the cheesy broccoli casserole. This dish really satisfies. The fish was cooked perfectly and the salsa is very flavorful. The big hit of the meal was the desert pictured below. Delicious!

The chicken tender platter, tossed in buffalo, sans the fries and cole slaw that come with it because I "ordered a salad"

They have started to go south. Not as good as it used to be. Last time I was there they were out of everything I wanted to order.

Amazing food! We ordered different plates to try and all of them were good. I still think about the chocolate cake!

I may just promote this as the new diet trend of 2025. I ordered their jalapeño cheddar burger on this visit and upgraded my combo to a large side and a large drink with an additional upgrade to add chili and cheese to my fries. My order came out quick and the service was absolutely superb as usual. I took my meal to the table and hurriedly opened up my side order and the sight hit me hard. The ultimate order of... Chili...Cheese...Fries. it was a heaping mound of fries with loads of chili and cheese. In approval, I inadvertently exclaimed "yeah" too loud and quickly scoped around to see if anyone might have heard me. If they had, I'd be forced to take the meal to go. A hearty mountain of deliciousness. My mind spun through scenarios on how to take this task on. Hire a Sherpa, get a pickaxe, and a pack mule perhaps? No no no. My food would be cold by the time they arrived. Focus and use what is at hand. The Wonder Whip Angel provided me with a plastic fork like the Lady of the Lake. It came out of my white bag like Excalibur. I should have asked for a second fork in case the first one breaks or wears down. I should've had a contingency plan. Curse me for a fool! But wait. I still had that burger to get through. I hurriedly scarfed it down enjoying every bit of it, but distracted the entire time by the thought of getting to my fries. I made it to the last bite and thanked the burger for giving its nutrients to me. I raised my fork high with my right hand and opened the clam shell with my left. For anyone watching from afar, I'm sure they only saw a small tasmanian devil tornado of activity with arms and legs and chili and fries and cheese whipping about. They'd be surprised to know that amidst that chaos, was a happy man enjoying a great side dish at a terrific value thanks to Wonder Whip. Im full. Now sleep.

They had us at a booth that seated 10 (crowded) and another booth for 6 a little ways away. We asked if we could be seated together, but they rudely said they didn't have enough servers for that(?). We got a call that 6 more people were coming so we asked if we could have another table close to our group. There were several empty tables around us so we didn't think it would be a problem, but they said they would have to be seated elsewhere. When they arrived, they ended up letting them sit at a table that wasn't too far away, but it only seated 4. They finally took our order and the wait started. It was at least an hour before meals started coming out. Two or three people would get their food and then nothing for quite awhile. We ordered first, but it was at least an hour and a half before we got our food. The food was okay, but most people in our group were already done before we even started. We may as well have gone to different restaurants the way we were seated and served. This along with the very rude treatment by the 'head server' (?) made this a restaurant I won't be returning to.

Old Hickory BBQ in Owensboro, Kentucky, delivers exactly what its reputation promises--and then…read moresome. I'd heard more than once, from both my girlfriend and coworkers, that Owensboro is a barbecue town through and through, so when she pointed me toward Old Hickory, expectations were high. Walking in, I was immediately charmed. The space feels like a cozy old cottage infused with unmistakable local pride. Awards and accolades from magazines and even the Food Network line the walls, setting the stage for something special before you ever open the menu. One of the most endearing details, though, is how deeply rooted this place is in the community. The tabletops themselves double as a kind of hometown directory, showcasing local Owensboro businesses. It's a thoughtful, almost nostalgic touch that reinforces the sense that Old Hickory isn't just in Owensboro--it belongs to it. To fully experience what they do best, I ordered the combination platter, a barbecue lover's dream designed for indecision. My lineup included brisket, baby back ribs, and a quarter of white-meat BBQ chicken, with baked beans and mashed potatoes with gravy on the side. The platter arrived surprisingly fast, and the portion size was nothing short of impressive--this is serious, no-nonsense barbecue. The brisket was a standout: fork-tender with generous pieces of that deeply flavorful, smoky bark that true BBQ fans crave. The baby back ribs struck the perfect balance--tender but still offering a satisfying bite off the bone, never mushy or overdone. The chicken was juicy and well-seasoned, cooked just right overall, with only a couple slightly drier bites near the edge of the breast--hardly enough to detract from an otherwise excellent showing. The mashed potatoes and gravy were rich, comforting, and clearly made with care. The baked beans leaned more vinegary than I personally prefer, but they were still good enough that I cleaned the plate without hesitation--a testament to their overall quality. I couldn't help overhearing a nearby table raving about the mac and cheese, and honestly, that might be my biggest regret of the visit. An elderly woman at the table--easily in her 80s--declared, "This mac and cheese kicks ass!" I laughed, briefly considered ordering my own, then accepted defeat--I was already completely full. One small surprise was the classic slices of white and wheat bread served alongside the platter. When I asked about it, the waitress explained that many customers use it to build their own BBQ sandwiches. While I would've loved a square of cornbread instead, the tradition makes sense--and fits the no-frills authenticity of the place. I tried their original vinegar-based sauce, which was tangy, bright, and perfectly suited to the meats. I do wish I'd had the chance to sample their other sauces, but that just gives me an excuse to return. Could I nitpick and mention the limited napkins? Sure--but at a place this good, I ended up licking my fingers clean anyway. Old Hickory BBQ isn't just a meal; it's an Owensboro experience--hearty, genuine, and absolutely delicious.

Owensboro has been vaguely on my radar for years due to the local specialty of mutton BBQ, and I…read morelove unusual meats. Unfortunately, I found the food, especially given reputation, to be disappointing. I'll start with the positives: one of the mutton ribs was absolutely sublime, with the fat suffused through the meat and a great flavor. The other mutton rib was somehow much drier. The sliced mutton was also okay, particularly with the black vinegar sauce. I was not a fan of the chopped mutton or burgoo, both of which has no discernable clear flavor and were closer to slop. Chopped mutton is kind of liked chopped liver but grainier and less tasty. Pickles, fries, bread, etc were all just commerical. I'd consider going back for a sliced mutton sandwich if in the area, but even as a mutton enthusiast I wouldn't make a special journey.
