This would had been our second visit here. The ambiance is like being at home. You just feel comfortable. We had a great server. The first item she brought out was a croissant covered with a honey buttery awesomeness. I would eat there for just that. I ordered the chicken fried chicken. This CFC was thick unlike other restaurants. My husband had the baby bake ribs and they were very delicious & the Red Beans & Rice was amazing in flavor. For a chain restaurant, one we don't have in California, they're pretty good. What sets Cheddar's apart from the competition is the fact that they make everything from scratch on site. Don't get me wrong, they won't be receiving any Michelin stars, but for an affordably priced chain they offer a wide variety of good quality menu items. The service is typically good and it seems they are almost always busy, but the wait to be seated is very short, if there's a wait at all. Once seated, the environment is very pleasant. The decor is kind of reminiscent of dining rooms in more upscale restaurants in the 1980's or 90's. This is a great option for family dining. I'm sure we'll be back. read more

One example of this was on their cocktails, which are pictured in big glasses with fruit garnish, but here they looked pretty disappointing when we received them. We eat at Cheddar's a lot. We have eaten at multiple locations. For it to be a chain restaurant, it is always consistently great food and great service. The Pensicola FL was even a bit higher standard than the normal for this restaurant. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming. She worked quickly to get us seated. Atmospheres was good, it was a bit chilly inside but besides that it was great. However the best thing of the dinning experience was an our waitress Raley ! She was fantastic! She was prompt and quick to get our order. She was very helpful with the menu choices . She was also very quick to refill our drinks which is huge at a restaurant for us! Slow service, our waitress disappeared, it took well over an hour at 2 pm in a mostly empty restaurant. This is the second time I have eat at Cheddar's and it will be my last. The first time was right after they opened. The only thing good at this restaurant are croissants. I ordered the Chicken Alfredo. The pre-marinated grilled chicken was too salty and the pasta was dry. It had very little sauce. The garlic toast was burned and very hard. The waitress replaced my order and it was not any better. The chicken was replaced with pulverized non battered chicken tenders. Absolutely no taste. The garlic bread, once again, was burned. My mother ordered the bourbon glazed salmon. It was dried out, like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. They brought out another order which was a lot better. My sister ordered the potato soup. It was very salty and the cheese was so thick you couldn't find the potatoes. The waitress was amazing. She did a fantastic job and was tipped well. I got the cheese fries ( forgot to take pic) they were good not overly fried. The only thing I didn't care for was the cheeseburger, it was one of those frozen patties. Stopped in from out of town. Been to other Cheddars locations before with good results. This location was below average. Clean and somewhat friendly service. Bathrooms in disrepair. Server was nice but didn't have much good to say about the menu when asking questions. I decided on the sirloin, medium, with grilled shrimp, house salad and loaded baked potato. Salad and meal arrived together; not a huge problem but I believe most of us would like it in advance. Steak served closer to rare then medium. Shrimp had good flavor but was ok at best; it was cool almost room temp. Baked potato was good. Overall it was just ok. In spite of it being graduation night for many of the schools and it being crazy busy, they still sat us quickly. We had a wonderful server named Alex. She was very attentive and very calm under the pressure of such a busy evening. We ordered tons of appetizers: spinach sip, queso with beef, honey butter crescents and it was all delicious. The glazed croissants are to die for although they put less glaze now than I remeber (the salad used to come with a croissant as well and now it doesn't). The beinget ham jam cheese thing is SO GOOD. Omg if ur on a diet maybe don't buy it was so soft and cheesy and the donut breading with the sweet sauce made it the perfect meal for someone who loves sweets like me. I had half rack of baby backs and while they were not "fall off the bone" as advertised, they were tasty and with a generous serving size. The baked potato was cooked perfectly. The coleslaw was pedestrian. The actual highlight was the rolls whish were drenched in a honey/butter sauce. I had to eat two! My wife had meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy which she rated as well above average. The ambiance is the nicest in town for the price, as are the cocktails. The Painkiller could be in a fancy glass at a bar downtown and cost $15 easily. All of the cocktails are phenomenal and crazy cheap. The food is excellent and service has always been fine. I like the grilled chicken Caesar, the pasta salad on it is a nice change. The steak is very peppery and well salted. The chicken tenders are some of the best in town. You can taste how they're battered fresh. I am thankful they are wheelchair friendly due to a recent accident. The staff are friendly, variety of yummy food and service is quick. What a pleasant surprise! We were trying to avoid a long wait and get an ok meal while passing through Pensacola on a Saturday night. What we got far exceeded our hopes and expectations. We had called ahead to get on the wait list so were seated no longer than 5 minutes after our arrival. Our server, Chad, was great: funny, efficient, comfortable. We had a mixed drink apiece before dinner and a glass of wine apiece with our meal. My wife had the 6 oz. sirloin, cooked rare as ordered, along with a baked potato and salad; Chad was very careful to make sure her order was consistent with her IBS dietary limitations. I also had the 6 oz. sirloin with grilled shrimp as an add on, with a sweet chili sauce over rice. Everything was delicious. I had such high expectations for this restaurant but it let me down a bit. My family came to visit and they asked me to take them to a unique restaurant and I decided that this would be different from the same ol' burgers. We ordered two servings of ribs and they looked great but they didn't come with a lid and they were already lukewarm by the time they got to our table. A minute into eating the ribs and they were already cold. The ribs gave my parents indigestion for two days and gave me a bit of malaise like the beginning symptom of food poisoning. All the other plates that my family members ordered were great according to them but the ribs were a bit of a mistake. I want to give this place another chance because the ambiance is great and the servers are very friendly but I'll pass on the ribs next time. read more
