This review is long overdue but Chef Ashelanna is amazing! She came to my vacation rental in Joshua Tree in February 2021 to make my birthday dinner for me and 11 of my guests. Her staff were very professional and she worked with me through picking out the menu, pricing, and setting up everything when they got there. The food was so good and I'm still thinking about it until this day! Ashelanna is super kind and easy to get along with and knows how to cater to your needs while making the experience fun. We had crab cakes, watermelon and monk fish skewers, the most tender filet mignon ever, twice baked potatoes, broccolini, arugula and chickpea salad, and a pomegranate cheesecake for dessert. She also has a camera man that takes great photos and sends you all of them after. They take care of everything from the shopping, set up, cooking and clean up to make the experience seamless for all. Book her for an amazing experience, you won't regret it :) read more

We were delighted with Chef Ashelanna and her staff during a 4-day corporate retreat at an estate in Palm Springs. They worked with me, the event planner, to have the retreat run smoothly and to make sure all of the attendees had what they needed at all times. Our event included hot breakfast, to go lunches, elegant meals and cocktail/hors d'oeuvres. Each meal was beautifully prepared and presented. She really listened to my requests as well as learning from the attendees on-site regarding what they wanted to have available. Most importantly Chef, Leslie and Lori adapted to our unique organization culture and were kind and respectful of our team and the stories/experiences that were shared. By the last meal it felt as if they were a trusted part of our group. I look forward to working with Chef Ashelanna again and will refer her to other professional meeting planners. read more

Great corporate retreat all perfected by Chef Ashelanna. The accommodations were second to none and the only thing they were missing was a heartbeat. Chef Ashelanna provided that making sure the house was stocked with all our favourite goodies, welcoming us with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres while we got a chance to mingle. I appreciated how professional her and the team were in preperaing brunch and dinner efficiently and quietly over the three days we had booked her, service was seamless. Unique menus, fresh local produce, smoothie demonstrations, finger food, wine pairings. -We wanted for nothing and it was fit for a king. Some of the other guys weren't as conscientious of their diet (perhaps) as I and I am grateful for the time she took to explain to me a little about the foods I enjoy eating. We've had the pleasure of working with Ashelanna twice. The first time was 4 years ago for my 40th birthday and this past weekend for my wife's 40th. Both times she and her team prepared a multi-course private dinner for 13-15 people. I'm pleased to say that we had a great experience both times. I highly recommend the crab cakes, spicy shrimp and New York strip steak. Everything had great flavor, was well plated and cooked perfectly. The one vegetarian loved what she whipped up for him. There was a server available which we would have loved to utilize more, but given these Covid times we kept our distance. Her team stayed masked and served the food family style to minimize contact. Ashelanna was always responsive to my phone calls and texts and when I chatted with her on the day of she checked to see if we needed any additional supplies. Email communication was more difficult and it took more time than I would have liked to get an invoice/written confirmation with all of the details regarding payment and menu choices. However, in the end everything worked out. read more

I'm really sad to write such a unsupportive review of Chef Ashelanna, but I had a really REALLY disappointing experience. I had booked a private dining event with Chef Ashelanna on the first night of my bachelorette party in Palm Springs. The goal was for this dinner to be a expression of gratitude to all my girls for their love and support leading up to my big day. Initially, things were going good with Chef Ashelanna. She collaborated with me on a menu as well as table settings etc. However, things got a bit skeptical when she didn't reach out the week before the event and missed a call of mine. The day of our event, Chef Ashelanna called me and had to cancel due to a circumstance beyond her control. She did try to get us a reservation at a restaurant, but we had a limited budget. All in all, I was very disappointed. Chef Ashelanna did return my deposit that day, however I was left to pull together a special dinner for my girls at the very last minute. I would not recommend Chef Ashelanna. read more

I had the same experience as Danish D. I reached out to Ashelanna on behalf of my boss and her family who had a last minute request for a private chef about four days before their weekend stay in the desert. When I called the number listed on her website, the voice message instructed callers with new inquiries to send an email with the details, which I did, acknowledging the last minute aspect of my request and the fact that she may not have availability. She initially responded that she was available one of the days they would be in town. Great news! I responded asking her rates and the possibility of preparing several meals for the fridge on that one day so they'd still benefit from not having to cook most of the weekend. She replied that her rates were based upon what they'd like with no range or examples given. Huh? My experience has been that there is a starting hourly rate plus a minimum number of hours per day with private chefs we have worked with in the past, so her answer didn't seem particularly helpful, especially considering she gave me no range or base pricing. I followed up, asking a few more questions and never heard back. Wish you'd just told me from the beginning you didn't have interest in working with us so I would not have wasted my time going back and forth with you. read more

One of my friends surprised us with an amazing Sunday brunch at my Palm Springs bachelorette. I woke up this Sunday morning, walked into the kitchen and saw Chef Ashelanna and her amazing team cooking up a brunch for 16 hungry ladies. They set everything up everything beautifully. I patiently waited for the rest of the girls to wake up and we were ready to feast. The team made shrimp enchiladas, steak and egg bruschetta, mini quiches, french toast skewers, yogurt parfaits, and green smoothies. Chef Ashelanna is the best! I rented a home in Palm Springs for a special event. I originally secured a date with another chef from the area. Days before everyone was flying into P.S., the chef called to cancel but referred me to Chef Ashelanna who he had asked to cover the event. At first I was disappointed and concerned as I had spent so much time with the previous chef planning the menu. However, after my first phone call I knew it was a win/win that he cancelled. Chef Ashelanna is incredibly organized. In fact, I asked if she was a project manager at one time. I immediately released on any reservations I had because within minutes after our phone call I had a contract with the menu in my email. In addition, she followed up with me the next day to ensure that I did not have any questions, and again, assured me everything would be fabulous. Boy did she deliver! While the menu was not hers, it was carryover from the previous chef, she did an outstanding job. The food was cooked to perfection - not one complaint from seven menopausal women. Now that is hard to achieve! I can't wait to visit P.S. again and select something from her own menu. The presentation of her the food was almost too pretty to eat. Not only was the food beautiful, but the serving trays were garnished with fresh flowers making it very special. Chef and her staff were pleasant and fun while at the same time very professional. Such a great experience! Chef Ashelanna cooked for a small party for my wife's birthday, breakfast and dinner that same night with bartender service. The food was amazing! The drinks were so well prepared you would have thought you got them from your local bar. The entire experience, from the quoting process to the end result was truly well done! I got at least a half dozen quotes by chefs in the area, her team was the fasted to contact me back, very competitive pricing compared to her competition, its the way the quote was structured that I liked, gratuity and tax included, no nonsense! We hired Chef Ashelanna for a party for my husband's 60th birthday party. It was all meals over a total of 4 day period for 30 people, including 8 children, 2 vegans, and one gluten and dairy free person. She served a total of 270 meals and around 900 drinks. Chef Ashelanna and her team were stellar from start to finish. It was her team's first time working in this particular home, so there were some kinks to work out on the first night, but after that everything ran smoothly. This party would have been super sucky without Ashelanna and her team, but with them, it was absolutely drama free. The food was fantastic and everybody had exactly what they wanted and needed throughout the entire time there. Chef Ashelanna and Caleb and were able to create a complete day of delicious options for everyone. We started with breakfast and were blown away by the variety of options for vegans/vegetarians. I found Ashelanna online and had no idea what to expect other than relying on reviews and her website. I have to tell you, she was absolutely amazing!! She was prompt and professional. Her food was delicious and very fresh. In fact, we hired her for Saturday night and loved everything so much that we called her back on Sunday for her root vegetables, grilled peaches and salad with her special dressing. Visiting this page to leave a review of Chef Ashleanna makes me very sad because clearly a lot of people have had a good experience and have enjoyed her food. Unfortunately, that was not the case for me and my 13 friends who booked her for a dinner in Palm Springs this past weekend. I found Ashleanna to have very poor communication and organization skills, which resulted in a very disappointing experience. Despite originally booking our private dinner over three months in advance, Ashleanna sent me an email a month prior to our arrival saying that there had been a cancellation on the day I requested and that she could now accommodate us... the only problem was that I had already paid her the $750 deposit and secured my date. I reminded her and she said that it was a mistake and she mixed me up with someone else and we were confirmed. Well, that should have been my first sign that while she may be a good cook, she is not running an organized business. The day of the event I hadn't heard from her what time she was arriving so I texted her. Not knowing her arrival time was the second red flag. She responded saying she would arrive at 4 PM for a 7 PM dinner. She then immediately responded again saying, sorry I meant to say I will arrive at 7 PM. This should have been yet another red flag but what was I to do the day of? In my experience of planning many private and corporate events, I have never had a caterer or chef arrive AT the time dinner was to be served. At 7 PM, she called me to say that she was running late from a previous event and was it ok if she arrived at 8 PM? My honest answer was, "Not really, but if you cannot be here until 8, then what else can I do?" Clearly she double booked events (as evidenced by the email a month ago) and couldn't make it to me on time. She assured me that she would hurry and that our first course would be served quickly after arrival. At 8:15 PM I had no update. I texted her and called her three times with no answer, which was incredibly frustrating since we were all sitting around waiting for her to arrive. At this point, my guests were snacking on goldfish and chips because everyone was starving. Not exactly the gourmet meal I had planned and paid for. When she finally called me back, she said that she was still another 45 minutes away and would not arrive until AFTER 9 PM. I found this to be completely unacceptable. A 9 PM arrival time means not actually eating until 10 or 11 PM! Most of our guests were leaving the following morning on a 5 AM flight, which is why we had planned our last night in Palm Springs as a relaxing dinner at the house. Ashleanna apologized, but that really did me no good at this point. The group decided that they did not want to eat 3+ hours after the original dinner time. I had to ask for a refund of the deposit and then quickly research a pizza place to order pizza for the group. I am extremely disappointed and embarrassed in front of my guests who had been hyped up for a 5 course private chef experience all weekend and were stuck eating pizza takeout at 9:30 PM. This was supposed to be our one big splurge dinner while we were in Palm Springs and ended up being a huge disaster. We were not dressed for a nice dinner out and had I purchased all the wine for the house, so eating at a restaurant was not even an option at this point. I wish Ashleanna had 1) not double booked events and 2) been more communicative when she knew she was behind schedule so we could have salvaged the night earlier. read more

I traveled to Palm Springs for my 45th birthday celebration with my close girlfriends in January and we were looking for a chef to come into the house and cook a great birthday dinner. From her appetizers to salads to main course to desert this girl was so impressed. Chef Ashelanna was absolutely stellar!! We hired her for my husband's 50th and he is a picky foodie so I knew I had to find someone that could live up to his expectations and she absolutely did! She worked with me to figure out the menu and I told her the filet mignon had to be perfect and she had her wait staff get everyone's desired doneness. She was spot on! The flavors of the dishes worked so well together and the seasoning was perfect. I am a stickler about presentation and everything was beautiful. I was also impressed with her when we had a venue snafu the day before the party and needed to find a place ASAP. She worked tirelessly to find a place and spoke on our behalf to get the venue we ultimately decided on. She saved the party by finding a venue and kept me from losing my mind!
