I was pretty impressed with the food here. I've lIved in the area for 3 years and have been struggling to find good Chinese takeout. We ordered green beans, shrimp with pea pods, Szechuan vegetables, and hot and sour soup. I probably won't order the soup again, it wasn't sour enough for me but the rest was really good. When we got the food home, it was cold, undercooked, and the seafood was slimy! 3 meals were thrown away without eating more than 2 bites. The portions are decent and the food is expectedly mediocre (assuming they actually manage to deliver it), which is the best that can be said about this restaurant. The thing that really stands out here is the abysmal phone communication, lack luster order completion and overall refusal to provide a decent costumer experience. On the off chance that you manage to actually get someone on the phone, you'll likely regret it as you attempt to wade through the apathetic nonsense of whatever narcoleptic corpse condescends to eventually answer. Once you do manage to get someone on the phone prepare yourself for an obstacle course of evasion, denials and being hung up on. And after all that you can be assured that they will do absolutely nothing to correct whatever problem you had. I have a strong appreciation for the family non-chain establishments. This is a quaint little spot tucked in on the north end of the Rockford Metro area. Pros: -Decent sized menu. Comparatively priced vs competition -No issues with the staff or service. They seem to be good hard working people. -Small, but clean venue Cons: -No fountain pop option. Always drives me a little nuts -The fried rice was a little off. The eggs inside were almost a little runny. As a result, unfortunately the fried rice was a miss. -Sauce flavors were a bit much and thick for me Bottom Line: -I have to give this place another shot, But for now I'm going literal Yelp in saying I've had better. This is my first experience with them. I placed a delivery order. Got the family for 2 special and the chef Chen sampler appetizer. The sweet and sour chicken and beef and broccoli were the two entrees in the family meal. Both were great, fresh, and hot. Apps were also great. Also, more than enough food to leave us with leftovers. My food arrived in under 30 minutes and was hot and delicious. Driver was very polite as well. Very happy with them. I ordered the basil chicken dish and it was horrible! I don't even think there was any chicken in what looked liked fried chicken. The rice was fine but how do you mess up rice? I called the restaurant because it was a delivery. I asked for the manager but the person who answered said he wasn't there. I told him how nasty it was, but all he said was, "oh". Frequently I order food from here. It's not overpriced and it is always hot and ready when they say it is going to be. Their General Tso's chicken, spring rolls and teriyaki chicken strips are awesome. Never have encountered any issues with quality, consistency, or customer service. The food is ok but the service....I ordered food to be delivered. Something I've done about a dozen times or so. They delivered it to my dads house which they wouldn't do before because it was out of the range. When I called them to get it taken care of I was called a lier and told never to call again....like that was going to happen. Also no refund. Follow up review: seems to have new staff (owner?). Food much improved - increased quanity of vegetables and meat in the dishes. "Mixed vegetables" is now an accurate description - not just a few slices of carrot and celery (with a ton of onion) like my last visit. And the quality of the meat has improved as well. This place has really good food. I almost always get the sweet and sour chicken or general tso chicken with crab Rangoon and fried rice. My wife always gets the sechuan (sp?) chicken and she loves it. Anytime we get a craving for Chinese, we order Chef Chen - and we live on the other side of town. read more

This was by far the worst food I have ever paid money for. The "lemon" chicken was indistinguishable from poor quality pork and was literally dipped in shake n bake. I have many things to say about this place.. First of all, the man who took our order wasn't very friendly. I mean, it wasn't the worst thing ever, just doesn't make for a good start to a little sit down dinner. Food came quick, then my five year old daughter had to use the bathroom. I walk to the women's bathroom and there was a note that said out of order, use other. So I took her to the men's bathroom. Let me tell you, it's DISGUSTING in there. It's like they use it as a supply closet. The door was dirty, the light switch was dirty, I think I saw bottles of bleach just sitting in there. It was gross and creepy. I felt guilty having my little girl use the toilet in there but she's five I couldn't just tell her to hold it. I step out to give her privacy and a female worker walked into the women's bathroom so obviously it was not out of order. Then one of the delivery drivers, if not the only, comes walking by very fast to use the men's bathroom. I say, "oh my daughter is in there!" He turns around and gives me this look like I did something wrong. He didn't say a word and just walked away from me. I had my daughter vigorously wash her hands because like I said, it was disgusting in there, and we sat back down. That same man uses the bathroom after my daughter did. I heard the flush then a second later he walks very quickly out of the bathroom, grabs a bag to be delivered, and walks out the front of the restaurant to deliver someone's food. So, whoever got that food, I feel very bad for because he clearly grabbed his dick and didn't wash his hands then handed someone their food. I will never go there to dine again, and definitely will NEVER order for delivery. And I advise everyone to do the same. It's a shame because I love their food, but now I question their cleaning standards. read more

Our first visit and it was better then we expected for a chain. The Thai Basil was very good but not very spicy at all even though it was ordered to be spicy. They gladly provided some chili pepper paste which helped tremendously. The cashew chicken was excellent and lunch portion was very generous. I am going to only comment on one food item of my order. Egg Foo Young. You might say I am a connoisseur when it comes to Egg Foo Young and all three patties in this order were bad. The style of cooking left one side almost burnt out and the other was as bad or worse. I ate half of one, picked apart the second for something edible to eat and the third I threw away. This is the 2nd time that one side of all the patties were burned. I won't be going back unless they want to comp 3 orders of this, and give me some free coupons for them to try and redeem themselves in my eyes.
