5stars all the way! Service , all food ordered, atmosphere was just on point. My beef goulash was very yummy and tender, warmed pickled cabbage was great w the broccoli. My hubby raved about the stuffed cabbage rolls but he liked the beef goulash a bit more. Cabbage rolls are pork, beef, rice. He loved them. The mashed potatoes are homemade and very good! Order them! The apple strudel was excellent with the ice cream. Homemade on the premise. Our server, Melinda was worth the 20% tip. All wait staff should always be like her. My only minor finding was the dim lighting. Overall, this was the best meal we had in the greater Palm Springs area and the very very few 5 star quality we give in our USA travels.

New ownership has come in, as Lana has retired and sold the restaurant. Be careful on ordering your salad, it probably will serve four people. Entrees are solid, but not top notch as when Chef George was around. The lounge always has some good entertainment, so plan to spend a little time after dinner.

It is no longer what it use to be. $40 for almost half the size that it use to come. It definitely changed.

This was a really fun evening. The waiter was exceptional and handled our table of eight people professionally. The food was outstanding. I had the fresh trout with mashed potatoes and vegetables. They had a small band and it was highly entertaining. Definitely a place to go back to.

Mushroom soup. It was my least favorite part of the meal, still good though!

IT's not really kid-friendly. I would take the kiddies elsewhere until their teens.

We found this place looking for a happy hour to take out friend too that was coming into town. From…read morethe menu, it looked and sounded great. Wine bar doesn't open till 5 which was when happy hour started. For the first hour, they had wine, well drinks and draft beer. A few small plates also offered. It's a wine and tapas bar. It's along El Paseo before you hit the main shopping area, depending on which way you come. Entrance has a nice wall created by ficus trees and mister spraying to keep you cool. There's a decent patio with a good amount of seating. Inside is where the party is. The place is set with two seating area. Right when you walk in is the bar. A good amount of hi top seating and tables. Hi top seating that are along the window were actually very uncomfortable. Padded seats were so narrow that seating was so uncomfortable but oh well. There's the other room seating area which houses all the wine on shelves. I believe it's also a wine store but that sectioned was closed for a private event. We just wanted a drink before dinner so no food was had. From the looks of the dishes that were coming out, they looked really nice. Tapas style dishes made for sharing. With happy hour, there was a couple dishes that was included. Also they offered a deal with a charcuterie board and a bottle included. We just went with a glass of their house red and white. And an order of spicy margaritas. It's a full bar so that was nice. Margaritas were great and house wine was decent. The service was great with the bartender who was a doll and very sweet. Made drinks and still had time to come check out on people. It was still early but it did pick up for happy hour which is from 5-6 right when they open. The place was quite nice and well decorated. Beautiful wine bar that's great for mingling with friends over food drinks and tapas. Will definitely be back for some food.

We let our bartender pick for us and she did great. They also have a premium wine flight available. The Mushroom Truffle Flatbread was definitely the start of the show. We visited The Local on 50th this past Saturday evening with friends for dinner and drinks before a…read moreshow at the casino. I was excited to try it since I hadn't been back to this location since it was Tu Madres, which I was a big fan of. The menu looked promising, and having live entertainment was definitely a major plus. Unfortunately, our overall experience was a bit underwhelming. We made a 6:45 p.m. reservation through OpenTable and requested a high-top table. We ended up being seated at a standard four-top next to the restroom. While it wasn't our preference, the restaurant was busy, and I completely understand that it's not always possible to accommodate every seating request. One thing that was disappointing was the beer selection. The menu advertises craft beer, but under the "Craft & Canned" section it mostly listed domestic staples like Coors Light and Michelob Ultra. There were only a few craft options on draft, and unfortunately the ones our group tried weren't particularly enjoyable. The guys ended up leaving them unfinished and ordering cocktails instead. We ordered the French 760, which unfortunately missed the mark as well. It was overly sweet, and the sugar rim melted down the glass, leaving the stem sticky and messy to hold. The appetizers were actually one of the highlights of the meal. Both the fried artichoke bites and the fried cauliflower were flavorful and well prepared. Service is where the evening started to unravel a bit. After our appetizers arrived, our server didn't return for about 25 minutes. When he finally came back, he asked if we were ready for the check. We had to remind him that we were still waiting to order our entrees. Once we placed our order, the food arrived quickly. Of the entrées, the Steak Frites was excellent and easily the standout dish of the evening. Unfortunately, both the Pasta Pesto and the Pasta Vodka were disappointing. The penne was overcooked, and both sauces were very bland and lacked the flavor we were expecting. The true highlight of our visit was the live entertainment. This was our first time hearing Jessica Michelle perform, and she was phenomenal. While playing the keyboard, she effortlessly covered country favorites spanning multiple generations. Her voice was absolutely beautiful, and she created such a fun, welcoming atmosphere. We'll definitely be keeping an eye out for her future performances. We're not writing off The Local on 50th. I spent over 20 years working in the restaurant industry, from family-style restaurants to fine dining, and one thing I learned is that every restaurant can have an off night. It happens. There was enough potential here that we'd be willing to give it another try and hope our next experience better reflects what this restaurant is capable of.

First; the bar service was a disaster. One bartender for this very large restaurant and 10-12 seats at the bar. Clearly priority was given to the hurried wait staff, resulting in a 20 minute delay to even being greeted. The 4 of us would have liked another cocktail $($120 a round, including tip) but was never given the opportunity. A BIG MISS for the type of clientele who looks for a martini, old fashioned glass of wine while waiting for table. The food, bread service was outstanding, I enjoyed the tomato mozzarella ball salad, next halibut with crab meat special. Fish was outstanding but the set up left me puzzled. Pickled beets (which I love) felt out of place. A corn side dish that tasted right out of the Libby's can and some sort of tomato coulis? Not sure, but the dish was too busy with the "extras". I would have preferred a beautiful presentation of the delicate halibut and delicious crab all by itself. The wine list is extensive and expensive. We brought a bottle to open first; $40 corking fee. I would have liked to have seen a reduced or excused fee after purchasing a $200 bottle of Pahlmayer cab. Out waiter seemed hurried as did most in the courtyard. The Bus was polite and very attentive. I understand this was one of the busiest evenings of the season with Fashion Week on El Paseo and the tennis tournament in IW....but for the prices I expected more.

We would have had to order multiple appetizers, dessert, and beverages in order to meet this minimum. When we arrived, we let them know that four members of our party would not be able to be there, two of which had a delayed flight. We were not informed at that time that they were going to still charge us for those four people. Had they informed us of this fact, we may have just walked out and suffered the $200 deposit loss. Mind you, we never signed a contract. We enjoyed the food, atmosphere and wait staff. We were talking about how much we enjoyed it and we're planning on returning next year with our same group. I can guarantee you that we will not be returning there after speaking to the owner who was inflexible and seemed to not care that we would not be back.
