Ever since I moved to the Valley in 2019, Alps Village has been one of my favorite places to eat. It offers a comfortable, homey atmosphere, plenty of parking, and a great location. Very appreciative of this place being in our little desert area! I brought my grandmother here, who is from Germany, as a birthday surprise earlier this month. She absolutely loved it & it was very great to see that not just the menu selection, but the actual food itself was truly authentic I got the bratwurst sandwich for my own nostalgia, which was perfectly made. Really enjoyed the homemade ketchup. My grandmother got the Jäger Spätzle with crispy onions on top. It was incredible!! We got the white cake to-go, which was pretty dang good. The staff was so sweet, kind, & really made the meal feel like a treat in itself! It's such a cute place. If it wasn't hot outside, sitting on the patio would be really nice to do in the future. The only thing that I really hope they bring back is a breakfast menu, because I can only imagine how great it would be. Also, breakfast is pretty much the same across the desert, very generic. Alps Village never misses! If you're looking for authentic German food, Alps Village is the place. The ambiance and staff are amazing. Every visit is consistently incredible, and this time was no exception. We started with the Oktoberfest Pretzel and the Urnebes, and both were absolutely phenomenal. The pretzel was perfectly done, and the Urnebes was packed with flavor. My husband and daughter ordered the Grilled Sausage Platter, which is a solid 10/10 every single time. It's one of those dishes you keep coming back for because it's just that good. My daughter's boyfriend ordered the Lamb Chops, and they were fall-off-the-bone amazing--tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I had the Spicy Gypsy Schnitzel Veal, and all I can say is wow. It was completely out of this world. The veal was perfectly prepared, and the spicy gypsy sauce took it to another level. And I can't leave out the Lemon Breeze. It is everything. Hands down, the best drink I've ever had--refreshing, delicious, and the perfect complement to an incredible meal. Alps Village just nails it every time. What a cool spot in the Coachella Valley! It's a German/European/Mediterranean spot in Palm Desert and it seems pretty authentic to me. The food was hearty and flavorful, and the atmosphere friendly and inviting. We had the sausage appetizer and it was super flavorful and snappy. Came here for a group outing on a Friday evening with a reservation (this place was quite busy, so would definitely recommend making a reservation). There are three dining areas at the restaurant - one outside and two inside. Delicous, hearty dinner at Alps Village did not disappoint. I ordered the Stuffed Cabbage Rolls with Spätzle (like tiny dumplings) which were rich and savory. On a whim, I also ordered a serving of the White Cake to go; what a delicious, frothy confection incluing fruits and nuts. Ambiance is half European restaurant, half happy hour spot. We've eaten here several times and have had some good meals and fantastic service. Alps Village lets you experience authentic flavors of Europe, especially the rich and diverse flavors of German and Balkan cuisine. The décor and atmosphere are rustic, cozy, and take me back to the gasthaus experiences when visiting my relatives in Deutschland (Germany). Parking is aplenty in their private lot. NOTE: They do close for the summer months, so check their website (www.alpsvillage.com) for details. SERVICE: On almost all of our visits, Z ("Zarinka") has been our waitress, but the entire staff is friendly and assists as one big team. DRINKS: They have a full bar and some delightful beers on tap, and selections of domestic and foreign beers in bottles. FOOD: I will say that our first experience was only okay (excellent service, but average food). Our return visits were due to my Yelp friend, Dennis W.'s review and insistence that it was worthy of another try. I'm glad we did, as repeated follow up visits provided us a chance to try many different menu items, and we've now found dishes more suited to our palates. We've tried the Jagerschnitzels, pork and veal, each was served with spatzele and literally a fork full of red cabbage (suggest to chefs that a little more be served). We also ordered a side of the cucumber salad, which was prepared a little differently than most German restaurants (and what I grew up with), but tasty, nonetheless. My mother-in-law had an appetizer portion of chicken wings, which were good. Some of the other dishes we've tried are Goulash Soup, Schnitzel a la Holstein, Octopus Schnitzel, Lamb Chops, and Cheeseburger. Everything is well prepared, and most are quite tasty. Stopped by Alps Village in Palm Desert and ordered an Ožujsko beer along with the ćevapčići served with lepinja bread, kajmak, and roasted potatoes. The ćevapčići were juicy and well seasoned, cooked just right and perfect with the soft lepinja bread. The kajmak was rich and creamy and paired really well with both the meat and the roasted potatoes. The potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft inside, making the plate feel complete. The Ožujsko beer was cold and refreshing and fit the meal perfectly. The atmosphere felt relaxed and authentic, especially if you enjoy Balkan food and drinks. So we finally had the opportunity to try this German restaurant which I was impressed & pleased with what we had! I ordered the pretzel with the cheese spread to start off with which was very good! The pretzel was very soft inside & had a nice crisp finish on the outside! Loved it! For the main course I ordered the beef goulash with the spaetzel noodle which had a nice pan seared to it & paired nicely with the goulash! I still had some pretzel left & I used to dip in the goulash! To finish of I ordered the apple strudel which came with vanilla ice cream! First time here today for Restaurant Week. I made reservations ahead of time for 5 pm. We were seated immediately. Service was excellent & friendly. Cute decor. Restaurant isn't too big. For some reason, I've never been here. My mom brought Oma a few times. I'm part German but it's honestly not my favorite food. Our server was fantastic. She said she'd put in a drink order I'd like & it was a good peach martini. My husband enjoyed his espresso martini. I had the chicken cabbage soup which was tasty. My husband had the sourdough Bavarian pretzel. It was perfect. I had chicken schnitzel with mashed potatoes & it was perfectly prepared. My husband had goulash & he really enjoyed it. Portions are big. We both had to ask for take out boxes. To finish, we both had the Apple strudel which was very underwhelming. I have been trying this restaurant many times. They pretend to be as German and /or Austrian/Hungarian food. They have few dishes that could be called as German or Austrian and perhaps Hungarian dishes, although they are not. They have the names of these ethnic dishes but are too far tasteless of real food related to them. They some dishes that worse to try, but that is a different story. As for me personally I would not recommend this place, one of my friends likes to go there, everyone has different taste, so you can try for yourself. read more

Top experience with door dash from here recently! Bear in mind, I have dined here in the restaurant and really enjoy the food but you never know how takeout will be. The kind of amazing where you half-expect someone to offer you free refills on life advice. I started with a GIANT PRETZEl and I do mean giant. This thing was so big I considered naming it and giving it its own chair. Then came my bratwurst sandwich, which looked modest until it arrived and turned out to be roughly the size of a small dachshund. And the twice-baked/fried potatoes? I don't know who in that kitchen sold their soul to make potatoes this good, but it was worth it. And the boot of beer...yes, an actual glass boot paired perfectly with everything. I'm convinced drinking out of footwear makes beer taste better. Scientists, get on this. Prices? Perfectly matched with the portions and the stellar service. This charming little restaurant tucked away in a business type mall is wonderful. I've been wanting to try it for quite some time - and we were invited by friends for dinner there last night. 1st and most important- the food was so delicious. What a gem! We found this place because we were looking for somewhere for dinner after a full day in the sun watching tennis in Indian Wells. We got a cold beer - the seasonal IPA. It was delicious and definitely hit the spot! We also ordered two different schnizels off the menu: Jagerschnitzel with spatzel and the Spicy Gypsy Schitznel -- they were kindly able to accommodate switching the side to ripped potatoes. They give really hearty portions! I thought that the jagerschnitzel had a bit of flour or cornmeal flavor? Maybe from the thickening agent?? My partner, who is German, said that he preferred the breading to be more fluffy breadcrumb-like. Their breading is thicker, maybe cornmeal based. That said, I liked it and thought that it was very crispy. I preferred the Spicy gypsy sauce more than the jagerschnitzel sauce. The spicy gypsy is like a spicy marinara sauce, but with more veggies! Sides are great too! I liked the ripped potatoes. They are like crispier homestyled potatoes. My partner really liked how fried the spatzel is. We came back again for our second time, never disappoints. I am actually from Vegas so this is my go to when I visit my boyfriend in Indio. He knows I really like this place! This time we decided to try the pizza, we got the bbq chicken gluten free one. And I got the same gluten free chicken cutlet meal with mash potatoes again! The pizza was very good, bbq was not over powering and the chicken was cooked perfectly on top of the pizza. Some gluten free pizza I am picky with but they made this pizza just right. Mom and Pop place is jampacked to the gills every time I've been. The food is delicious and comforting. The drinks are generous and the atmosphere is fun. I usually get the appetizer that's little sausages with this house made almost like pita bread, and then a side of the sauce that comes on the schnitzel, but they were out this time which was such a disappointment. But it did cause me to venture outside and try something else. I got The schnitzel and it was so stinking good. That sauce is just... Delicious and I want to spread it on everything. If it's dipable I'm putting it in that sauce. If I'm gonna knock anything it's at the prices are a little bit expensive. I'm sure it has to do with the quality of food that you're getting but four of us ate and had some drinks and it was like $300 after tip. And it's not fancy by any means. Go! This is a FANTASTIC place to dine & have fun! My friend suggested it as he has been several times and what a great experience! I had no idea this place existed. From the moment you greeted by the owner at the host stand you feel like you're visiting into somebody's home and you're treated with great care and greeted with a warm smile. Our server, Z worked the whole dining area, always had a smile on her face, and you generally felt that she cared about everyone. She took the proper time to check in with us. We never felt rushed. She made some great suggestions when we had questions and when the food arrived......YUM! YUM! YUM! It felt like someone had freshly made it, (which I heard they did) and it was absolutely delicious. The mashed potatoes were my favorite. They were the perfect blend of whipped texture and taste - not too salty not too bland.I ordered the Schnitizel with chicken and it was perfectly cooked. It was not greasy. It was not bland. It was not over seasoned. I highly recommend if you live in Coachella Valley to go to this restaurant as well as if you ever have people visiting take them here the ambience the service the food is fantastic.
